I'm trying to work out the way of having a cell give a result based on what has been input into two other cells.
Basically I'm doing up a risk management spreadsheet. I need to have in one cell the LIKELIHOOD of an incident, in the second cell, the CONSEQUENCES of it happening and ending up with a RISK MANAGEMENT ASSESSMENT in the third cell.
Macro Based on an input cell’s (e.g. B12) setting of “yes” or “no”, format several other cells (e.g. B20:G20, B23:F23, C26:J26) as follows: keep the existing yellow shading if input cell is “yes”, change to grey shading if input cell is “no”. I would like this macro to run automatically whenever the input cell value is changed.
I have a spreadsheet that give me the percentage difference of two cell say a1 and a2 (=a2/a1)[format as % two decimal places]. The result is on say b5 as a %[format as % two decimal places]. Now on B6 I want to do this:
if B5 is >3.01% then b6 =" Market Test Required" if B5 is +3% then b6 =110 if B5 is +2% then b6 =106 if B5 is +1% then b6 =103 if B5 is 0% then b6 =100 if B5 is -1% then b6 =96 if B5 is -2% then b6 =93 if B5 is -3% then b6 =90 if B5 is >-3.01% then b6 ="Market Test Required"
So on and so on.... I would really appreciate your help on this issue.
I have used excel for some time now but not with complex formulas or any vb.
Cell A5 has a Yes_No pull-down list for data validation. In cell B5, I want to display the value 0.002 only if A5 is "Yes". If A5 is "No", I want the user to be able to enter a number into the B5 cell without destroying the formula.
I'm quite a novice at Excel. I have a column of values that I sum as follows;
A 0 0 0 0 0
0 <----------------sum of A1:A5
A formula may change one of the values in the above column to a '1' which means the sum will become '1'. The sum can only be '1' or '0' and only one value in the column will ever change. I need to add a value of 2 to another cell (say, C1) when the sum of A1:A5 changes from a value of '0' to '1'. I know this will probably involve the worksheet change event but am having a problem implementing it.
I do data entry for a driveway company. I get addresses and phone numbers, and then call the people to offer services. I keep track of my calls on the spreadsheet, color coded for my results, green for leads, yellow for voicemail/no answer, and red for not interested.
I have formulas in cells M2 through M8 to give me my overall stats for the calls I have made, it filters them by color for leads, missed calls, and rejections, and a couple other stats (mostly for my own curiosity)
What I'm trying to add is the cells L10 to M13, I want to be able to input a date, for instance 8/15, and have it run the same stats, just for that day essentially. So, I need it to search the last 2 columns in the table for the text that I input into cell M10, and then run the color based formula on those cells, and total them up in the appropriate cells, M11, M12, and M13.
The 2 Stats tables are the same at the moment in the sample, as I only included one particular street that I have mapped, my actual table is nearly 3000 rows.
When I drag my VLOOKUP formula down a column in Excel 2010, the return value copies the formula result from the original VLOOKUP formula result. For example, if the first VLOOKUP returns a value of 0.5, I expect to see 0.5 or 1 in the cell below that one. However, I get 0.5 which is not the expected result for the cell below.
When, I click the fx on the cells below, the expected return values appear in the formula result. After I click OK, the expected formula results updates and now appears in the cell.
I'm not sure what is causing this issue. My computer was updated recently from an old machine to a new one. I have never experienced this issue before.
I'm wondering if it is at all possible to have a cell comment automatically update depending on what data is input in the cell (via user input, VLOOKUP, etc.)?
For example, if cell A1 contains the text "CHARLES" with a comment saying "Employee of the Month", and is then subsequently updated with the new text "JOHN" (again, via direct input, a VLOOKUP, data validation, etc.) is there a way to have the comment automatically update to say something else, such as "Team Lead" for example?
I've considered using VBA to accomplish my goal, but am unsure how to compose an effective code to do so. I've also considered perhaps creating a named table filled with all the different comment possibilities I would like to have used in this cell and then inputting a formula in either cell A1, or the comment contained therein, that would then call the corresponding text from that table based on the data in cell A1. Honestly, I'm not sure that what I'm trying to do is even possible;
I am trying to create a macro which gives me an input box. I need to enter 2 numbers into the input box. It would be as follows:
Input Box Msg 1 - "What is your labor cost?" (NUM1) Input Box Msg 2 - "What is your productivity rate?" (NUM2)
Then I need the macro to take this info and enter it into a formula which changes according to the row which you are on. (I need the macro to work based on which ever cell I currently have selected). The formula would be this if I currently had a cell on row 10 selected:
=(NUM1*(NUM2*$H10))/$H10
So, if I currently had cell L10 selected, and I ran the macro and put 100 in for "NUM1" and 10 for "NUM2" and my sheet had 20 in cell H10, then the macro would enter the number 1,000 into cell L10. If I had L500 selected, then the macro would enter the final number into cell L500 based on what value H500 contained.
I'm trying to do a formula that references a cell and returns a different result dependant on the number in the cell being referenced.
For example I've said if A1 has a 3 in it then put the word TEST as the result, plus if it has a 4 put the word RESULT.
What I wrote as my formula is as follows-
=IF(A1=3,"TEST")+IF(A1=4,"RESULT")
It works fine when I only use one result but goes wrong when I add two. If I change the words I want to show to numbers it comes up fine but with words it just returns a Value error.
I have a formula that looks at a cell on a front sheet, and then returns the contents of that cell as the result if it meets the criteria. So for example this formula would be in Cell A1 on Sheet2 IF(SHEET1!A1,"New",Sheet1!A1,"-")
This formula is always in the same cell (different sheet) as the cell that it is looking at, down 1500 rows. Instead of having the formula named for each cell is there anyway to ask excel to 'look at this cell but on this other sheet'. e.g IF(Sheet1!"This Cell" etc). That way no matter what cell you put the formula in it is always referencing the correct cell for the formula?
I have two cells, A2 and B2. When I enter a numeric value into B2, I want it only allowed when certain text values are in A2. I.E.: Allow any value in B2, but only if A1 is either "SYDN or "ADEL".
Now using info found in an old post, I can achieve this with a combination of data validation and code: =OR(A2="SYDN",A2="ADEL") for the validation and for the code:
[Code] ......
The only problem is I also need to reset B2 if A2 changes to invalid data as a result of some other input to that cell (A2). In other words if B2 is showing "1" already and A2 were to change from "SYDN" to say "LOND", then B2 needs to be cleared. If A2 changed to "ADEL" then it doesn't need to clear but it is ok if it does because it is fine to re-enter "1" into B2 again.
I have attempted to attach a sample worksheet : Xl0000003.xls‎
I want to tie the values of some cells on Sheet 2 to what's put in into corresponding cells on Sheet 1. Example
If Cell B3 on Sheet 1 has the string "B off" put in, Sheet 2 should automatically get "R1" in cell B12, "B off" in cell C12 and "ID123456" in cell D12. If cell B3 on Sheet 1 is empty, B12:D12 should be blank.
I have two coloumns on a worksheet. In the first column I have data validation drop down list. I want to be able to: if the first column "Other" is chosen then the next cell will allow text for description, if anything other is chosen in the first drop down list cell then I want the next ( text for descritption ) cell to be resticted.
I have a value in Cell A1. Now, I need to be able to enter a number into Cell A3 and upon hitting Enter (or clicking elsewhere), the number I just entered into Cell A3 needs to be replaced with the number I just entered multiplied by the number in Cell A1. For Example: Cell A1 contains the number 1.05. I type 2.50 into Cell A3 and upon hitting Enter Cell A3 reads 2.625.
I have a table of repair jobs done over a period of time. I just need to determine during which shift was the repair job done. The time during which the job was initiated is called Notification Time.
If the job was done at, say, 0100 hrs, then it was done during Shift 1 (0000hrs to 0800 hrs) If done at 0830 hrs, Shift 2 (0801 to 1600hrs) If done at 2030 hrs, Shift 3 (1601 to 2359 hrs)
I need a formula to allow me to determine the Shift no. by just checking against the Notification Time column.
I have a spreadsheet where in cell E2 there is a drop down box with the following options to select: Warranty Replacement, Insurance Claim, Billing Issues, Retention Opportunities.
In cell F2 is where wait time minutes are generated depending on what is selected from the drop down box in E2. I am trying to create a nested IF formula for the following scenario:
I would like to gray out or hide contents of a series or group of cells when a particular cell has a certain result. i.e. if cell A1 is <5 I want cell rows 5 thru 10 to be hidden or grayed out.
I need to use the result of a simple calculation in one cell on Sheet1 (=A1+2) as the row in a cell reference on a different sheet. eg =Sheet2!A"n" where "n" is the result of formula.
I'm working on someone else's spreadsheet, when I type in a formula the cell shows the actual formula as typed, rather than the expected result of the formula, how do Ii correct this?
I have a formula in a cell and when I use the formula bar it shows me the correct answer but it doesn't show me it in the worksheet. Only the formula shows up.
The same formula could be another place in my worksheet and work fine.
I have tried changing format. Copying formula from another location and changing the information to fit my needs it won't show me the result.
K18 contains the number 54.00, and on Sheet117 cell K18 contains the number 404.00.
Cell A1 displays the formula rather than the result, which should be 458.00.
Other similar formulas I have in this workbook return a result of 0 when I know there should be a significantly higher number. Then, the same formula used to refer to different cells will return what appears to be a proper result.
I have created a visual schedule for my team using Excel (2003, SP3 if that matters). Essentially, the user puts in pre determined 1-3 character codes in individual cells, and the macros I have act like a complex Conditional Formatting to keep the formatting neat and consistent throughout the sheet. The actual values are inputted directly into the cells though (this is pertinent to my question), and are things like "A" "M" "$" and "TR"
I have a sheet for every day in a week. Since there are multiple team members on any given day, I have recently made another sheet which pulls a single Team Member's schedule Sunday through Saturday and displays their schedule for the entire week. I have used formulas (specifically VLOOKUP) to do this.
The problem that I am having though, is that the macros that I made to format the days of the week sheets, do not seem to recognize the result of the formulas in the individual Team Member's sheet, and thus do not format them as desired.
My macros are written to evaluate a cell's value via [ Range("example").value ] and will act upon it accordingly with more code. I am assuming that a [ Range("example").value ] would see a cells value as the text of the inputted formula, and not the result of that formula. Is there any way around this? or do I need to avoid the formulas all together and write in code to just copy over what I need?
I have a quick question regarding this simple code thats been drviing me nuts. There x distinct pieces of Data in the range speciifed, but when i run this code, the reply posted in cell H1 is 1, instead of x.
Eventually the code will be built to check if the result is odd or even and then add an entry into the first blank cell if the result is odd.
