Formula For Conditional Sum With Dynamic Range?
May 22, 2012
Building a formula to calculate the total downtime for a specific configuration item (in this example: Wintrack).
See table below:
Task.NumberConfiguration ItemDowntimePriorityINC0028900Wintrack602INC0028900Data Tree201INC0028901Wintrack151INC0028903FAST1901INC0028904Wintrack102INC0028905Wintrack53
The table above will vary in row numbers every month so I would like to use dynamic range. I will be calculating total downtimes for each configuration item every month and would like those totals reflected on a separate Excel sheet. .

I am currently working on writing a macro that clears all rows in which the cell in column F doesn't say "Sale", "Purchase", or "Tax Code Description", however, I keep receiving an error that says "Wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment".
[Code] .....
Also, I originally was deleting the rows, but I have formula's pulling from this tab and need them to not lose their reference after the macro executes.

The drivers are simply a start date and an end date.
For example: 1/1/2014 - 3/31/2014
To keep it simple I am only looking at 4 fields in the referneced data set. They are Date, Net Calls, Average Handle Time and Agent.
So records look as follows:
DATE AGENT NET CALLS AVERAGE HANDLE TIME
1/1/2014 Agent 1 30 Net Calls 2.00 Minutes
1/1/2014 Agent 2 40 Net Calls 8.00 Minutes
1/2/2014 Agent 2 05 Net Calls 25.00 Minutes
...etc
I am stuck on the Average Handle Time problem as this needs to be weighted on net call volume contribution by agent conditional on dates being equal to or greater than the start date and less than or equal to the end date.
I have attached a workbook for reference : Dashboard Table miacg.xlsx‎

Is it possible to Conditionally Format using the (Custom) Data Validation Tool one or both of the following conditions:-
1. Force the user to enter the correct decimal point position for a given currency :-
The are 3 different decimal point locations location's - 0.87624 / 123.123 / 1273.00 There are always 6 numerals We have a table to lookup which specifies where the decimal point is on all currencies
CURRENCY AUDUSD< List is linked to a table
Price - High 0.87744< Decimal point dependant on chosen currency pair chosen
Price - Low 0.86596
Price - Close 0.86823
2. As above but numbers once entered will be formatted accordingly to the correct decimal place to the corresponding currency

I have an Excel 2007 Workbook which is refreshed by a Web Query. I have dynamic named range defined as "Manager" which I've confirmed is correctly identified. This range includes only one column and is formatted as text.
When I try to reference this range in my conditional formatting "refers to" formula, all cells are recognized as blank even though the range clearly contains many cells that are not. For example, there are 90 records containing the initials "PD". If I use the formula =Manager="PD" in my conditional formatting, nothing changes. If I change it to =Manager="" then ALL records are formatted, including those that are not blank.
Stranger still, if I enter the formula =COUNTIF(Manager,"PD") into and empty cell in my worksheet those 90 records are counted correctly. Which leads me to believe it isn't about the data. Conversely, =COUNTIF(Manager,"") returns the correct count of only cells that are, in fact, blank.
I've tried using the OFFSET formula defining my range in place of the name itself for my conditional format formula to no avail.

I have a dynamic range formula that refers to a list that I've set up in row 65 of my sheet. Each time I go to the cell the has the data validation referred to in this range, the drop down list shows the list from the last entry and with more spaces than needed. =OFFSET('GROCERIES AMEX'!$E$65,0,0,COUNTA('GROCERIES AMEX'!$E:$E)-15,1)
The " -15" is the number that varies all the time. Is there any way to remedy this so the formula behaves as if the list was located in Row 1?

I need a formula that will look from row 2 down to the last row for columns "A-H".
The purpose is to identify the active range. I think the function is "Counta", but I can't get it right.

I use the function OFFSET for names in order to be able to add new rows below the table without the need of changing the range of the name.
However, there are error produced if I work it this method.
I am not sure whether it is due to the formula but maybe because of the data or format validation ? Generally, in my cells I include
if(CellRef="";"";formula)
in order to copy the formula down. Pls also look at the defined names ....

I am trying to insert a formula into the cells in a column dynamic range.
I never know how long the column will be from instance to instance.
I have been trying to use the following code,
Sub insertf()
'
' insertf Macro
' Macro recorded 10/11/2007 by bbactadmin
'
'
Do Until myrange.Value = ""
ActiveCell.Range("f10").Select
ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Range("f1").Select
Range.Formula = _
"=VLOOKUP(LEFT(E11,3),fam,2,FALSE)"
ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Range("f1").Select
Loop
End Sub
I am trying to insert the lookup in all of the cells in the column within the dynamic range.

Can you use Row & Column numbers in a Formula the way you can in VBA?
I want to do the same as Range(Cells(5,2)) in VBA EXCEPT in a Formula
because I want to use named ranges for the Row & column entries. (And I don't want to have to run a macro every time a change is made. The spreadsheet is huge enough already. It's slow on my machine & I have the biggets baddest PC in the company!)
Using Formulas only, (not VBA) I would like to create a Dynamic Named Range, LastUsedRow, which is the ROW NUMBER of the Last Used Cell in Column C
(it would = 470)
Also I have an existing Named Range HeaderRowNum (it = 16)
Currently I have a LOT of formulas like:
=SUMPRODUCT(($E17:$E470)*(--(CO17:CO470>0)))
problem is any new data must be added between Rows 17 & 470
So I would like to create dynamic new forumlas to read like:
SUMPRODUCT( (Cells(HeaderRowNum+1,5) : (LastUsed Row,5)) * (--(Cells(HeaderRowNum+1,93) : (LastUsed Row,93))>0) )...............

I've normally just dynamically selected a range using the xldown feature but because this row contains formula it goes always down to the bottom of the formula instead of the last cell which isn't blank.
How would i go about generating this dynamic range that stops at the first cell that contains no value (but has a formula)? Perhaps a do while loop which looped down until it hit the first blank and then assigned the cells it had looped through as the range?

I have a problem creating a circular reference with dynamic ranges. I have searched already but can't find the specifc problem. I have a spreadsheet where I use vba code to insert extra columns. Within the worksheet there are sum calculations at the end of each row. When I add a new column within the table I would like the sum calculation to expand to account for this extra column.
Now, I thought that dynamic ranges would be the way to go but the only way I can see to do it creates a circular reference as the CountA function trys to count the cell with the sum function in it.

I've am array formula that I use to provide highest values:
Code:
{=INDEX(Data!$D$2:$D$128, MIN(IF(LARGE(Data!$D$2:$D$128,ROW(A1))
=Data!$D$2:$D$128, ROW(Data!$D$2:$D$128)-MIN(ROW(Data!$D$2:$D$128))+1)),
MATCH(LARGE(Data!$D$2:$D$128,ROW(A1)), INDEX(Data!$D$2:$D$128,
MIN(IF(LARGE(Data!$D$2:$D$128,ROW(A1))=Data!$D$2:$D$128, ROW(Data!$D$2:$D$128)-
MIN(ROW(Data!$D$2:$D$128))+1)), , 1), 0), 1)}
I want to replace the range Data!$D$2:$D$128 with a dynamic reference: like that one:
Code:
ADDRESS(MATCH(Summary!$B$1,Data!$Q$2:$Q$10000,0)+1,
MATCH(Summary!$B$7,Data!1:1,0),1,1,"Data")&":"&ADDRESS(
MATCH(Summary!$B$1,Data!$Q$2:$Q$10000,0)+COUNTIF(Data!$Q$2:$Q$10000,Summary!$B$1),
MATCH(Summary!$B$7,Data!1:1,0),1,1,"Data")
The two formulas work well in separate sheets but crash when put together, how could I possibly insert the second address formula into the first one?

I am having a few problems with dynamic named range in excel 2000.
When adding new data to the range, excel extends the range correctly, but only copies some of the formula correctly. It does not copy the formula that references a cell from another line.
I am trying to create a excel spreadsheet and have a formula =e10-e9, which does not copy down.

Using this basic version of my data:
NameGradeWeekJim31Sally31Fred32Claire53Susan43Chris52Ted41Jenn53Nicole43
I am trying to figure out How many 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th graders there will be for each week. I will need a formula to fill in for each blank cell below.
# of 3rd# of 4th# of 5thWeek 1Week 2Week 3
I think I need a formula that would "read" something like:
if "Week" is equal to "1, 2, or 3" then within the rows that contain that week, count all "Grade" that are equal to "3, 4, or 5"
I tried sumif, counta, if, and combinations of them, but I am not sure I am using them correctly.

Reason I want to is because I want to make a Validation List with this dynamic range. I also want a Validation list which lists the content of 2 or more dynamic ranges which may or may not be on the same worksheet - is this possible?
i.e.
First dynamic range: called "Milestones" at A11
Second dynamic range: called "Activities" at A25
& make a Validation list that will list content of both

I want to set a conditional format to cell A1 with a value in cell P1 When the value in P1 is between 0 and 10 the conditional value in P1 should be set.
Note
cell A1 is also set with a conditional format to put a border around it when there's a value in A1 (cellvalue is not equal to " ")
So the formula referencing P1 would be a second condition.

I'm trying to find a single conditional formula which summarizes multiple text occurrences in a range of cells. I managed to summarize the occurrences in a single cell, but my challenge is that I'm looking for a single (array?) formula for this.
I have a worksheet with column A which contains the condition and column B which contains a text field. I'm looking for a single formula to summarize all the 'AB' occurrences in the cells B4..B11 where the column A is Apple. I managed to do this by using an additional column (column C), however as my worksheet contains over 10000 rows, I would like to use a single conditional (array?) formula summarize the AB occurrences (multiple ' AB's can occur in a single cell) in stead of having to use an additional field per row.
I have attached a sheet as an example. I'm looking for a single array formula in cell C11 which summarizes the 'AB' occurrences in cells B4..B11 where column A is Apple.

how to apply conditional formatting via VBA to a range of cells based on input from another range of cells. Obviously this would be easy in Excel 2010, but I'm still using 2003 at the office and it needs to stay in this format to be readable by other users:
For cells M8:EK8, my conditional formatting
condition 2: Formula Is =AND($E$8>=M2,(($E$8-$D$8)>=(N2-$M$2))), color index is 40
condition 3: Formula Is =AND($F$8<=M2,$G$8>=M2), color index is 39
I want to add:
condition 4: Formula Is =AND($H$8<=M2,$I$8>=M2), color index is 40
condition 5: Formula Is =AND($J$8<=M2,$K$8>=M2), color index is 39
and so on
The cells in the range M8:EK8 are blank, they only get colored based on input added to D8 to K8. If there is no input, then the cells should be uncolored.

I am trying to create a dynamic, unique listing. I have two data lists (expanding 45,000 rows). They are as follows. I CANNOT use macros due to security constraints :
ARGENTINE PESO ··············Cash Account 1
ARGENTINE PESO ··············Cash Account 2
ARGENTINE PESO ··············Cash Account 3
AUSTRALIAN DOLLAR ·········Cash Account 1
AUSTRALIAN DOLLAR ·········Cash Account 4
AUSTRALIAN DOLLAR ·········Cash Account 7
AUSTRALIAN DOLLAR ·········Cash Account 9
AUSTRALIAN DOLLAR ·········Cash Account 15
I basically want to be able to type "Cash Account 1" in my control cell, and have a dynamic dropdown created that only summarises those currencies available in that cash account, so in this instance, it would be both ARGENTINE PESO and AUSTRALIAN DOLLAR. I have created a solution, but due to the 45,000 row range, it is very processor heavy, and I would like to be quicker i.e. type the cash account you want to analyse, and the combo box / data validation dropdown(?) will only show relevant currencies. I do not mind using helper cells and / or a master sheet to analyse each currency for true/false. Also, the columns can be reversed if that makes it easier.

I'm trying to incorporate multiple conditional (Dynamic?) drop down boxes to enable me to get an appropriate code at the end of the process. This will be used to product data entry and the code will tell Amazon where to post the product. I have many thousands of codes that i need to access and the easiest and most accurate way is to break down everything in to category and sub categories until I eventually get the code I want for that specific product.
for Example:
1730708031Clothing/Baby/Baby Girls 0-24m/Hoodies & Tracksuits/Tracksuit Bottoms
To return this code I would want to select Clothing, which returns a list which includes baby which in turn will give me a list that includes baby girls and so on and so on until I can select Tracksuit bottoms that will return the code.
Each list is dependent on the previous choice
As I have thousand and thousand of potential codes creating range list for each potential category and sub categories is not really feasible and would be very difficult to maintain when changes occur.
With this in mind I have created a code list that breaks the above example so that each category is now in it's own cell and there can be upto 8 (as I've seen so far) potential conditional categories before you return the code and ideally I would like to use this as it very easy to create and update. (see attached)
I might be able to use filters to return the appropriate list each time but don't know where to begin.

=OFFSET(Sheet2!A1,0,0,COUNTA(Sheet2!A:A),COUNTA(Sheet2!1:1))
I was hoping that then when i go to data > Pivot table and it asks for the range i could put =Data but it tells me that the range is invalid. I have attached a copy at the bottom.
