Jan 14, 2012Possible to set the BackColor of an ActiveX textbox to transparent? I have the BackStyle set to transparent, which is great since it will be transparent when not selected so you can see the color of the cell behind it, but once you select it to type in it, the BackColor overrides the cell behind it.
Right now, I have a sheet where the color of a cell changes to green if the textbox needs input from a user. If I have the BackColor set to white, the cell behind will change to green so the user knows they need to enter something in the textbox, but once they click the textbox, it goes white and may confuse them.
On the other hand, if I change the BackColor to green, it works great when the user clicks the correct textboxes, but if the user clicks the wrong textbox, it will 'incorrectly' turn green which may make the user believe they need to enter something in the textbox.

10% (a positive percentage) textbox backcolour = red
-10% (a negative percentage) textbox backcolour = green

What I need to do is protect (lock) the text so that no one can change the text in any of the cells, but I still want to be able to change the colour of the cells by clicking the mouse in that cell.

Worksheet Listbox Causing Crash With Mouse Wheel Scroll
Aug 21, 2008I am having problems with an Excel workbook I am working on. I have a sheet that has a number of controls added to the top of it. Two of these controls are listboxes. My problem is, if I am in the listbox navigating through it, and I accidently move the Mouse Wheel, Excel crashes and I get the usual, "Send Error Report" form.
I have seen that there are other people having this problem and that there are a number of solutions out there but my problem is a bit different. I have a few forms with listboxes on them, and while mouse wheel scrolling doesn't work, it certainly doesn't crash Excel. It only seems to happen when I have a control permanently added to the sheet. Is there any event handler for mouse wheel scrolls or anyway to disable them through VB?

Putting Data Collected In UserForm Back Into Worksheet
Apr 14, 2013I'm trying to set up a relatively simple UserForm, which will collect the name of a project from a ListBox, a project update which will simply be text entered into a TextBox, and a estimated completion percentage (factor of 10, 10/20/30% and so on) which will come from another ListBox.
I've managed to get many of the basics working, for example an OK button and a CANCEL button, but there are a few bits that I'm still finding rather tricky.
I have the selected date in the percentage listbox going back into my chosen place in the spreadsheet quite happily, but I can't get it to work for the project name listbox (I think it's because the options come from rowsource and weren't entered manually like the other one). I'll paste my code at the end so you can all see how I've done it (and have a laugh)!
I have also just about managed to get the data to go to the right place in the spreadsheet. I want the data to appear in columns, column 1 for the project name, project update in 2 and percentage complete in 3. I have this working, but it for any reason one cell becomes blank, my code uses that cell, and that could cause entries to become mixed up. I want the UserForm to enter data on the first entirely empty row.

Excel 2010 :: Transferring Array Back To Worksheet?
Jun 20, 2014I have a workbook that is doing something I don't understand. In several places I am using arrays to transfer/modify information, then placing the array back onto the worksheet, and this works perfectly. The following code... doesn't.
(I've cut out unnecessary code like variable declarations - all my integer items are declared as Long)

and several other ways. What happens is just null output, a full column of nothing. However, when I expand my worksheet range to two columns, all the data from varB appears - it is shifted down one column and row. So my data starts at .cells(2,2) instead of .cells(1,1). The data is all perfect, I've verified it left and right.... I just can't figure out why it's getting shifted like this.

May 6, 2014I have created an excel worksheet that will provide budgeting and estimating tools for my project managers. All data used to be manual entry and took a good while to complete. I am trying to automate the process with VBA.
I created a UserForm called InfoVerify1. On that form I have TextBox 1 - 10. When the UF opens, the boxes display project information from my worksheet called "Basis of Estimate", also known as Sheet26.
The TextBox1 ControlSource is set to "E4". When I run the macro with Sheet26 active, the proper information fills in. However, when I am on the Start page or any other worksheet and I run the macro, it tries to fill in the text boxes with E4, etc, from the active sheet. I tried changing the ControlSource to "Sheet26,E4" or any combo thereof with only error messages.

I know how to change the cursor with a custom one. The pb is for me to identifie that the pointer is over the cell so as to launch the cursor change macro (and reverse when going over another cell).
Excel does that, for ex, with commented cells but can VBA do it also?

Calculating Distances Between Back-to-back Locations

Where each (i.e., A1) represents a location. I have tried to use a coordinate system but this will not work for the back-to-back locations. (Assuming each location is 2 feet wide, For example A1 to C1 is 4 feet apart, not 2 feet (as Euclidean or rectilinear would calculate it as).
Would there be a way to incorporate an if statement for those locations that are back-to-back? As a rectilinear distance calculation would work as long as the locations are not part of the same "block".
Ultimately I am looking to have a matrix which contains all the distances between each location:

A2
A3
B1

Currently we have to put the actual form in the printer. I'd like to embed the form into excel so that the numbers pulled by the formulas and the form itself all print. The problem I'm having is I can not get the form to sit in the background. The cells are hidden behind the form and do not show up when printing.

At the bottom of the code in the standard module is what I changed.
In the message box. If the GDT button is clicked the GDT chart opens. If the Symbol button is clicked the Symbol chart opens. This all works.
But will I select a symbol from the symbols chart it will appear in the cell that is double clicked. but then end up as a letter instead of a symbol.
But, the gdt chart works perfect.
I thought Cancel = True Would do the trick but does not. Any ideas what is missing??

How To Count Back 4 Weeks Skipping Blank Cells
Feb 7, 2014I am using excel to analyze stock changes. Yahoo spits out a column with dates and another with closing prices but occasionally inserts a row showing a dividend, something like this:

In the spreadsheet, column A is date and Column E is closing price, such that the cell in column E where the dividend is listed is blank.
The problem- as I update data each week, the dividend row moves. How can I consistently figure price changes for 4 weeks and 13 weeks without getting messed up by the dividend row? Is there to auto delete the row or make the formula count down 4 cells in the price column, while skipping any cells without data?
Looking Back Through Cells In A Column To Find Specific Text(s)
Feb 14, 2010In the attached sheet I need to check on the Destination in column B, and if it matches set criteria, divide the figure in Column E by 2. eg If LAX is the destination, then for any rows directly under LAX until the next destination appears, column E needs to equal column D divided by 2. If the Destination is not LAX, then Column E equals Column D.
the difficulty I am having is that there can be a variety of row numbers for each destination. I am having trouble creating a formula that can basically work backwards from Row-1 in column B until it gets to a text string, and check that text string against the criteria. so it may be row -1 up to about row -9 dependant on the number of flight times available to each destination throughout the week.
