Possible to set the BackColor of an ActiveX textbox to transparent? I have the BackStyle set to transparent, which is great since it will be transparent when not selected so you can see the color of the cell behind it, but once you select it to type in it, the BackColor overrides the cell behind it.
Right now, I have a sheet where the color of a cell changes to green if the textbox needs input from a user. If I have the BackColor set to white, the cell behind will change to green so the user knows they need to enter something in the textbox, but once they click the textbox, it goes white and may confuse them.
On the other hand, if I change the BackColor to green, it works great when the user clicks the correct textboxes, but if the user clicks the wrong textbox, it will 'incorrectly' turn green which may make the user believe they need to enter something in the textbox.
I have an ActiveX Label control with a transparent background. When I click on the label the background turns white and stays that way as long as the mouse is over the label, obscuring whatever's underneath. (It also very slightly alters the character spacing.) What object/property controls this? How do I adjust it?
While I'm here, is there an easy programmatic way to assign arbitrary RGB colors to ActiveX controls? The palettes available from the Properties window are fairly limited. A google search for "ActiveX colors" yields a deluge of marketed products, so it's hard to find useful information.
I've built a spreadsheet with quasi-animation for a physics class on projectile motion. In it there's a animated chart showing velocity change as a function of distance. The chart has on it an ActiveX textbox that refers to a cell that contains a formula showing "V_y = {velocity}". I've tried a number of things to get the display of the textbox to change during the animation. If I break the code at the line that updates the cell referenced by the textbox the display changes. But I can't figure out how to get the display to update while the code is running.
Code: Private Sub CommandButton2_Click() Dim rngInput As Range Set rngInput = Sheet1.Range("Q197:T207") ' rngInput.ClearContents
To clear contents in Active X text boxes as well as normal cells? The text boxes lie in the Q column and I want them to be cleared as well, whenever I press 'clear' (command Button 2)
I have several textboxes that are not on a userform; they reside on worksheet A. I want to format these textboxes so that they only accepts numberical values (like 500,000....no dollar sign and no cents needed). After typing in 500,000 lets say for this example, I want to paste it into a cell in worksheet B (I can actually handle this part). What iIcan't handle is:
Formatting the textboxes so that they only accept numbers (or display a message if a number is not entered) Display the 500000 as 500,000 in the textbox without the user having to enter a comma Hitting enter or tab to get the value from the textbox into the cell in worksheet B. It only pastes it into worksheet B when I click on another cell. That doesn't seem like the right way to enter data.
I am wondering if I just should have used a userform and added the controls onto it. I have 8 sets of 5 user controls; I thought this would be easier.
is there a way of changing the text direction for an ActiveX textbox? I need it to show the text in some of the boxes vertically but in other boxes horizontal.
When the workbook opens, sheet 1 is selected. There is an activex textbox on sheet 1 that should receive focus.
using "textbox1.setfocus" or textbox1.activate" does not accomplish what I need. I have also applied this the setfocus and activate to the worksheet open event but without success.
VB:
Private Sub workbook_open() Worksheets("regular sku").Select TextBox1.SetFocus Worksheets("regular sku").ScrollArea = "I1:T36" End Sub
I have several text boxes on a 'picture' which is the format for a business review. The text boxes are linked to cells behind the picture which picks up company names, cities etc...
Two of the boxes have a phone# and date
The linked cells are formatted correctly but obviously the text boxes, pick up the 'values' not the formats.
is there any way for the textboxes to show the values with the proper format i.e.,
I am creating a status board at work... Kinda like an In/out board.
I created a toggle button and using it as the persons named. I want them to be able to go to the excel sheet on our intranet. Be able to click their name (toggle button) and it change the off cell from red to white and the on cell from white to green. Then they can save the excel sheet and close out for the next person.
edit: I would also need it to go back once they click it when they leave.
I have created the active x button, but so far the only thing I can do is get the 1 cell it effects to say true/false.
One of the action's on a large group of the controls is the same but except for one number
here is an example
If TextBox107.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell. Offset(0, 53).Font.ColorIndex = 3 If TextBox108.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell.Offset(0, 54).Font.ColorIndex = 3 If TextBox109.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell.Offset(0, 55).Font.ColorIndex = 3
This makes a cell that correlates to the textbox red if the text in the textbox is red.
Now, I loads of these textboxes that all need to run the same code with just the Offset value one digit higher than the last and I was hoping I could create a loop to avoid a huge block of code but I can't work out how to make a constant that will +1 with each loop.
Also, can I assume that a loop will start with the control with the lowest number i.e. Textbox1 and then work its way through the rest of them in order?
I'm trying to add a textbox at the current position (selected cell) with a set size, fill color, and border color. I found this: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...8(VS.80).aspx:
VBA code in worksheet won't revert a changed cells color back to 0(white) after removing the comment.
Observations: code does set the desired cell colors to Yellow after inserting a comment, however removing said comment, and re-activating the worksheet does NOT reset the color after deactivating/re-activating the worksheet.
I am doing a spread sheet for participation in a class. What I want is for whenever a student is absent, i.e. has a 0 in their point box for the day, that cell turns red. I have tried to make the .find method work but it has been uncooperative and so far and I can't seem to get it to even run. This is what I have so far:
HTML Code:
Private Sub For_Loop_Click() Set v = .Find(0, LookIn:=xlValues) For Each v In [B6:B46] Do If v.Value = 0 Then v.Interior.ColorIndext = 3 Set c = .FindNext(c)
When I click a Command Button I want a label to change color FIRST and THEN a message box to appear.
I use the following code, but what happens is: FIRST, the message box appears and THEN the label changes color, which is the wrong order. The label needs to change color FIRST.
I'm not sure what I have done but one of my workbooks colour scheme has changed. When viewing the workbook cells are now grey and the lies are a lighter grey. When printing though it prnts as it would normally ie a white backgorund. It looks like the viewing colours have been reversed and I can not find out how to revery back to normal.
Is it possible to put a picture in excel with transparent "cells" like the attached. Where I could type in the actual cell in the transparent (white blocks) part of the photo?
I'm trying to make a map of 14 regions where each region changes brightness depending on values in the worksheets. I think I've got this bit sorted. I'm planning on creating the map using a collection of tessellated shapes or images, and using VBA to alter the properties of each one to create a dynamic map.
The output of the individual maps from MapInfo, our GIS software, is in .png or .jpg. format, and come with a white background. Is there any way to either make the background transparent so multiple shapes can be tessellated effectively, or a way to crop the image to the area's border?
Either that, or does someone know a way to output from MapInfo in such a way to make this possible? (Granted, it's a long shot, but you can't blame a guy for trying...)
I've created a powerpoint with a number of slides, and I need to put a textbox at the bottom. I want to change the colour of the textbox border colour.
Code: For intCount = 1 To 5 Set tmpTxtBox = pptApp.ActivePresentation.Slides(intCount).Shapes.AddTextbox(Orientation:=msoTextOrientationHorizontal, Left:=120, Top:=500, Width:=500, Height:=100).TextFrame.TextRange tmpTxtBox.Text = strTolerance tmpTxtBox.Font.Name = "Arial" tmpTxtBox.Font.Size = 12 tmpTxtBox.Font.Size = 12 tmpTxtBox.ParagraphFormat.Alignment = ppAlignCenter ' ??? tmpTxtBox.Line.ForeColor = RGB(255, 0, 0) Next intCount
I've tried everything I can think of for that line with the ??? in, .line.color, .color, .bordercolor but Excel VBA doesn't like any of them , I get error 438 'object doesn't support this property or method'.
I have created a userform for the purpose of inputting data into a database, now one of the people who uses it wants me to make it so certain cells will be in a different colour if a button is selected, I can use this code to make the textbox change colour
Me.TextBox1.ForeColor = &H8000000D
but when I have the data in the textbox transfer to a cell in excel any colour change is lost, is there any way to get around this,
Where each (i.e., A1) represents a location. I have tried to use a coordinate system but this will not work for the back-to-back locations. (Assuming each location is 2 feet wide, For example A1 to C1 is 4 feet apart, not 2 feet (as Euclidean or rectilinear would calculate it as).
Would there be a way to incorporate an if statement for those locations that are back-to-back? As a rectilinear distance calculation would work as long as the locations are not part of the same "block".
Ultimately I am looking to have a matrix which contains all the distances between each location:
I am attempting to format some TextBoxes from within a For/Next loop. I need a way to check which TextBox is the active TextBox in the loop. Using i as the variable, I came up with this code snippet: Me.Controls("TB" & i).Text = Format("TB" & i, "mm/dd/yy")
If i = 3, this gives me in TextBox3 (which is called TB3) the text 'TB3' and not the value of what is in TB3. It has got to bo something simple, I just can't see it!!!
