It has worked perfectly for about 2 weeks, well now when I go to open the workbook it gives me the debug error of Run Time error 424 Object Required. I last ran this today at about 8 a.m. no errors, but now about 4 hours later, it is bugging out. What is causing this?
For some reason my form won't open when the workbook is opened. I get an error message "run time error '424' object required" (which happens when I have Form1.show in the BOTH workbook_open event and the userform_initialize event (oops)). When I removed form1.show from the userform_initialize I don't get an error but I also get no form. I recall having this issue before but I can't recall how to fix it.
Can I call the userform_initialize event from the workbook open event to get around this successfully and properly?
This code appears to do opposite of what I intended i.e., when I click 'Yes' button it closes the file without saving; and when I click 'No' button it closes the file with saving?

When in column "C" I type product code, data validation of corresponding cell in column "D" changes to list of diameters allowed for that product. That works fine. But i also want to set validation message to show allowed diameters.I set it in VBA using named ranges.
But for every second line (13, 15, etc on attached file) I get an application-defined or object-defined error. The rest (14, 16 etc) works ok.

Running into this issue of "transworksheet macros"
I have a master "update" commandbutton on sheet 1. I have two sub "update" buttons on sheet 2 and 3 respectively.
What I would like to do is have the user click the master button, that would "click" the two sub buttons so they run their respective macros on their respective worksheets (within the same worksheet.
I have tried pasting the macro code in the master button, telling it to select the sub worksheet and then run the macro, but the marco runs itself on the master worksheet instead.
If cell K6= "ERROR" I need a message to pop up on screen with the message "Wrong Entry click OKAY to find, Click CANCEL to ignore". Clicking OKAY would simply go to worksheet named "MONITOR". Clicking Cancel would just clear the pop up from on screen.

If I fill the form out once and click 'OK' (run the code to put the form data into a sheet), when I go back into the form all the old info is still there. If I then click 'Cancel' (Unload Me) and reopen the form, the old data is cleared out. What am I missing to make it clear it out the first time?

I'm trying to pull up a second form from a command button within a form. There's a command button in a sheet to open the first form (frmOrderInput.) Then there's another command button in that form to open the second form (frmPriceInput.)

I am imagining a spreadsheet with the equivalent of an info button in each cell of column A. The idea is the user clicks the button to open a User Form containing additional info about the entitity represented by values on that row.
E.g., Row 1 is labels, row 2 is all about Bob, 3 is about Jane, 4 is about Freddy. If the user clicks the info button on row 3 then a user form opens up and displays additonal info about Jane.
I am wondering if there is a way for VB to identify which row the clicked button was on without having to write individual code for each button telling VB which row the button was on.
I am hoping there is some form button property I can reference or interrogate which will give me a cell address; a button.position property or similar. This will obviously save me a lot of coding if VB can dynamically determine which row is being interrogated as there will be a couple of hundred of these to start with, potentially thousands. (I realise Access is a better solution for database interrogation, but I have to work with excel at present).
Ultimately, the user form that the button calls up will have a list box on it and I want the list box to default to the entity on that row, and allow the user to browse the other entities if they want to.
If there isn't a solution for this I will just have a single info button for the users to click that opens the user form and then they can select the entity from a list box. But I would like to offer the "intelligent display" option but don't relish coding the equivalent of several hundred "You clicked button four hundred and seventy six, default to info card for bert".

whether I can handle errors in a way that tells me which object caused the error?
For example if a userform has two combobox's and one causes an error, can I return to a message box containing the name of the object (combobox1 or combobox2)?
I have tried returning err.source but I am either not using it correctly or it isn't intended to be used this way.
I am trying to make it so that when you double-click in a cell in column A, a message box opens populated with the text string in the corresponding cell (same row) in column Z. Seems to me like it should be easy enough, but despite spending the last hour searching for clues, I can't seem to figure it out.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulty getting a form to work the way that I would like it to work. I have a form that is used to display questions that my students will be answering. The form also is used to put the answers into a worksheet. I have 2 sheets. Sheet2 has the questions, student answers, and correct answers. Sheet1 is used to indicate correct answers and to keep track of percentage correct. I am fairly new to VB. I have 2 pieces of code that I am going to post. The first one works and the second one doesn't.

I am looking for a more efficient way to write a macro (a sample from the macro is below). This is just the first part of the macro. I need to repeat these same steps (seen for row 5 below) for rows 5 to 50. My script worked until I hit row 35 and then I got the "compile error.." message. There must be a way to use "loop" to write this more efficiently, no?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using the GetOpenFileName method and a message box to return the filepath of a file and saving the filepath in a variable called Filepath. This worked just fine.
What I want to be able to do is display the the file path at any time in a message box, but not sure how to do this. I tried displaying the message box in a form and was going to look for some way to call the form, but the form does not return the message.

The function checks the status of the checkbox name passed to it. If it's checked, it will show a chart series. If it's not checked, it will hide the chart series. The error comes in referencing the "checkboxName".
How might I need to alter the code so that I can use the form control name as a variable? This is ultimately one of the key components of the function as each control has it's own name.
I have been working on large project using Excel VBA for several days. My code seems to be working correctly, but I have more to do and now, when I drag an object from the toolbox onto a UserForm, the object is not added to the list of objects on the form. If I go back to versions of the project that I was working on several days ago, there is no problem. If I run "Workbook Rebuilder", the objects that I have dragged onto the form are then added to the object list, but I still can't add new objects to forms from within the VBA editor. Is the project corrupted, or is there some other explanation, and are there any fixes? The code runs about 50 pages, and there are over 20 forms, so redoing from scratch is only a last resort option.

I have this workbook with 10 sheets. Each sheet has macros that are called from a floating toolbar. What I am trying to do:
I want to create a msgbox that warns me when I click in a toolbar's button to call a macro that not runs in the activesheet. Something like: "This code (or macro) doesn't match (or run) with the active sheet.
Is there a way to add a new sheet as soon as click on button on excel sheet with the name i give.
ex : there should be a button on the Index page , as soon as i click on button it should add a new sheet and i should be able to provide a name in the index page for that sheet.
