Hide Text Box?

View 3 RepliesI am trying to hide/display text by using form fields. I swiped the idea from a spreadsheet I obtained from a vendor and thought I would extend it to suit my purpose.
When I check the box for "table one", I'd like for the data that I have associated with it to display. When I uncheck the box, I would like for that data to be hidden. The goal is to be able to choose one data source and see at a glance which fields come from that source and what their names are. The formulas that currently exist for the cells in column I do a nice job of putting text in a field when the box is checked, but I don't want to have to rewrite the formula in the cell if/when the source of the data changes. It's a lot of long schema/table/field names. Maybe that's the only way, though...
I scrubbed and mocked up column J to try to demonstrate. It's sorta color coded.
And it might be that using form fields is not the best way to hide/display text based on source type.
get my code to work.
I have a sheet with a dropdown box in cell "J1" which is meant as a 'Show only rows containing this value'.
Column Q, from row 3 downward has a pick box which lists the same values as the "J1" drop down box, but uses code to combine whats chosen with commas. An example of what is in a cell in column Q is "SeaHawk, BlackHawk, Squirrel, MRH", where cell J1 would be either "SeaHawk" or "MRH" or something completely different.
I need to only show rows, with text in column Q containing the smae text as J1.
I have an automated formula which i have to fill down to line 250, yet in the majority of cases i only need it to say line 20, and as a result i have loads of lines stating "Not Found" has anyone got a way to hide any lines containing either "Not Found" or a blank cell??
in my work sheet I need to Hide & Unhide some text box By checking a checkbox it means if user mark the check box the text box will be appear & if uncheck it the text box will be hidden

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an IF statement which sometimes returns the word "FALSE" and a SUMIF statement which sometimes returns the error #DIV/0!
I need to be able to hide the text in the cells when either value is returned.
I've managed to solve one of them (#DIV/0!) by using conditional formatting and using the formula =ISERROR(H35) then changing the text colour to white.
I can't think of a soution for the "FALSE"
I have a workbook with two worksheets. On the second worksheet I have placed a chart, in which several shapes (text boxes) have been added manually. With the help of a TickBox in a UserForm on the first worksheet one can hide / unhide one of those shapes (on the second worksheet). By using the Macro recorder I finally came to this code fragment:
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Worksheets("Second One").ChartObjects("Chart 41").Activate
ActiveChart.Shapes("Text Box 4").Visible = False
Worksheets("First One").Activate
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
Obviously another part of the code is used to make the shape visible again. roblem: The screen flickers. And I want to be able to do this without flickering. Searching Ozgrid revealed that the use of "Activate" makes the screen flicker. Hence, my question: How can I hide / unhide a shape (textbox) in a chart on another worksheet without of using "activate"? r: Any other way to hide / unhide a shape (textbox) in a chart on another worksheet without flicker?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the code below on a worksheet to modify a form based if it's a Purchase order or not. It works but it seems like it could be much shorter. I tried several different ways to write it but I can't get it to work any other way.
Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
' If cell E5 = "Purchase Order" remove sales tax % from E33 and Hide Text Boxes 1 and 8
If Target.Address = Range("E5").Address Then
If Target = "Purchase Order" Then
Range("E33").Value = 0
With ActiveSheet.Shapes("Text Box 1")
If ActiveSheet.Range("E5") = "Purchase Order" Then
.Visible = False
[code].....
what the formula is if I want to hide all rows that begin with: "FORCE-MATCH CANDIDATE" in a specif column. The text after that string varies based on user input.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am working on a time management sheet for my company. I need to be able to click a button and have the file search 3 columns for a persons initials and then hide all the rows where the initials are not in at least one of the three columns. I seem to have no problem getting it to work for one column at a time, but as soon as I try to search more than one it all falls apart.
I will also need to create an unhide all button to reset the sheet after the macro has been run.
I have attached a sample of the sheet below. Each project needs to have 3 rows to show the schedule and budget broken down by each team member.
Project Number
Address
Service
PM
SS
[Code]....
The workbook has multiple sheets, and a cover sheet. Each project has a sheet and the status, costs, updates ect. are updated to the cover sheet.
Problem:
What happens is there is a cell which has conditional formatting on it, e.g. If text is Green then colour cell green, if cell text is amber then colour amber and if cell text is Red then colour Red. This works fine.
If the cell text is green then I need a number of rows hidden, if it is amber or red then show the rows.
I have found the following
Sub
If Target.Value = 1 Then
Rows(Target.Row).RowHeight=0
Else
End If
End Sub
Which I have changed to:
Sub
If F4.Value = Green Then
Rows("5,6,7,8,9,10.Row).RowHeight=0
Else
End If
End Sub
So this does not work, need to know why and how to make this work for each sheet I am on e.g. ActiveWorksheet?
I'm trying to do is set up a form load event to initlize some controls. Here is my
Private Sub Form_Load()
'Initialize the form
lblProcessing.Visible = False
txtFileName.Text = "Enter a file name"
End Sub
At the moment, this event is not triggering. I have the code in the code behind my form - should it be in a module? PS: This site is great - it's answered a lot of my other questions so far without me having to make any posts.
I have a workbook which contains 8 worksheets. I want to able to run a macro that looks for specific words in column A of each worksheet and hides any rows in between the specified words. The following code works except if a worksheet does not contain the specified words. Is there a better way to accomplish this?
Attached is an example of the spreadsheet. The code below works just fine on the tabs highlighted in green, but halts on the tab highlighted in red. The tab highlighted in yellow is showing you the rows I need to hide.
Example.xlsx
I have a spreadsheet which contains our fleet information covering many vehicles in one list. The teams for these vehicles are listed in Column A. What I would like to have is:
A dropdown box to pick from All, or the various teams in A1To hide every row that doesn't match the selection of A1To reveal every row that contains the selection for A1 at any point in column A. e.g: "*Dog Team*"
This is because something might be listed as "Moved from Dog Team" or "Dog Team, temporarily on loan", or "Dog Team V66.m"
I have taken a small sample of the data I will be working from and made a very simple drop down box which displays the pages of information for the vehicles by hiding/unhiding blocks of columns:
Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Address = "$A$2" Then
If Range("A2") = "MOT/Service" Then
ActiveSheet.Columns("A:P").EntireColumn.Hidden = False
ActiveSheet.Columns("Q:CE").EntireColumn.Hidden = True
ElseIf Range("A2") = "Contact Details" Then
[Code]....
But because there is also filters on the sheet, meaning the positions of the entries based on rows can change, I need it to search for the "*xyzzy*" method, but am unsure how to do this! While just using the Filters will work, due to some human limitations I have been asked to have a specific drop down box in a very specific location with instructions next to it.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Column <> 13 Then Exit Sub
If InStr(Target.Value, "Other (specify in next column)") Then
Columns("N").Hidden = False
ElseIf WorksheetFunction. CountIf(Columns("M"), "Other (specify in next column)") = 0 Then
Columns("N").Hidden = True
End If
End Sub
but I have a lot of columns that I need to perform as above and I have put the code together as below
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
On Error Resume Next
If Target.Column = 13 And InStr(Target.Value, "Other (specify in next column)") Then
Columns("N").Hidden = False
ElseIf WorksheetFunction.CountIf(Columns("M"), "Other (specify in next column)") = 0 Then.................
Using the above code, when I selected more than one cell anywhere in my workbook and pressed delete I was bugging out with a runtime error 13 message. You can see from the above code that I inserted "On Error Resume Next" - this got rid of the runtime error 13 message, but now when I select more than one cell and press delete, hidden columns are incorrectly revealed in my worksheet. how I can extend the working code at the top of this posting so that it works for a number of different columns in my Worksheet i.e. without the runtime error 13 occurring and without columns being incorrectly revealed.
I am developing a spreadsheet that, once all the code is run has numerous sheets added. On these sheets I have a significant number of rows that contain no data and could be hidden (I dont want to remove them, because later I need to re- import all these rows back to my master sheet). I tried code I found in the forum to hide a row if it is empty but this doesnt work as some of the cells contain formulaes referencing back to another sheet that is hidden.
I am trying, and failing, to write code to hide a row that contains no actual data, but still has formulas in some of the cells.
I want to create a macro that checks whether a specified range of columns is hidden, and
a) hide them if they are not hidden, or
b) unhide them if they are hidden,
i.e. toggle the Hide state.
What method can I use to query the hidden state of a selected range of columns and return a boolean value?
I have a macro in which i can enter the rows i want to hide.
If i want to hide "position 32" i have to enter the number 8 of the row. This works fine. But now if i want to hide the "position 32" from Sheet1 it also should hide the rows 4-8 from Sheet2 [Data with 32].
Or if i hide "position 34" in Sheet1 [row 10] it also should hide the rows 14-18 in Sheet2.
Sub Button294_Click()
If Sheet1.Range("A34:A94") = "HIDE" Then
For Each cell In Range("A27:A94")
If UCase(cell.Value) = "HIDE" Then
cell.EntireRow.Hidden = True
End If
End Sub
I would like to rows based on multiple column conditions criteria. ie., if the columns N, O, P values are "", then hide the particular row. The logic given in the website here, i tried But, it is not 100% working. It works for a few rows at the start of the database & it works for the rows at the end of the database. In between, for a few rows, even if the column values are "" it does not hide those rows.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am filtering the data displayed in a chart by hiding columns. I would also like to filter the X-Axis labels by hiding columns. If I do this manually I have no problems but when I run the following macro the chart gives a reference error for the X-axis labels.
Sub ShowA2()
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
num = Sheets.Count
Sheets("X-Axis").Activate
Range(Columns(1), Columns(256)).Select
Selection.EntireColumn.Hidden = False
For a = 1 To 5
Sheets(num - a).Activate
If ActiveSheet.Name = "A2 Data" Then
Columns("A:Q").Select
Range("A10").Activate
Selection.EntireColumn.Hidden = False
Sheets("X-Axis").Activate
Columns("A:E").Select......................
If A1 is also found below A1 (A2,A3,etc) then "HIDE" otherwise "DON'T HIDE"
I want to create a formula which finds out if a value exists below it in the same column. I could then use a filter to remove rows contain the word "HIDE" which will leave me with only rows with DON't HIDE. Then Column A will only contain unique values.How would I create a formula like this?
1. Search an excel sheet "column" for a particular type of text and insert values based on that text (if found) in another column.
e.g I have column A1 to A10 with different types of text. I would like to search for the keyword "Risk is high" OR "Risk=High" for each cell in the column and insert a "1" if found beside it's corresponding "B" column. If not found, I would like to insert a "0".
So, if the text "Risk is high" OR "Risk=High" was only found in A6, I would like B6 to be "1". Rest of the values in the B column would be "0's", since the text was not found in any of the other cells.
I have a macro which imports data from a mainframe dump text file and performs 'Text to Columns' on the imported data so that formula in the spreadsheet can act on the data. The code works perfectly well when I use it, but if a different user logs on and performs exactly the same mainframe dump and import macro the Text to Columns action splits the raw data in a different way and the result is that the split renders the formulae useless.
I've experimented a little and for some reason it appears that the 'Field Info' parameters which are produced when the Text to Columns function is recorded in a macro differ between users even though the raw data is exactly the same.
FieldInfo:= _
Array(Array(0, 1), Array(18, 1), Array(35, 1), Array(56, 1), Array(70, 1), Array(88, 1), _
Array(102, 1))
I'm trying to get something like - If a cell contains certain text AND certain text then display set text OR If a cell contain certain text AND certain text then display set text.
For example:
Vauxhall Corsa 1.5Litre Petrol = vauxhall corsa petrol
Vauxhall Corsa 1.5Litre Deisel = vauxhall corsa Deisel
Vauxhall Nova 1 litre Petrol = vauxhall nova petrol
So it the formula is effectively searching for the car type and the fuel type and then returning the relevant set text. So far I'ver only been able to find IF functions criteria to identify one feature of the text.
I'm thinking it's got to be variation on =IF(ISNUMBER(FIND("Vauxhall Corsa",A1)),"Vauxhall Corsa Petrol") but there should be something else in there like =IF(ISNUMBER(FIND("Vauxhall Corsa"&"Petrol",A1)),"Vauxhall Corsa Petrol")
I know this is wrong but just trying illustrate my thinking. I need it to pick up vauxhall corsa AND petrol. I understand that I would have to stick a lot of IF functions together in a string, but that is fine as long as I can ask it to pick certain text AND certain text within a cell.
How can I hide the value in column H when there is no value in column E, but still be able to fill down the formula in column H as many rows as I want?
In other words, I don't want to see the totals in column H in rows where the items haven't been sold yet (col. E) or in rows where there is no other data at all. Items are not always sold in the order in which they were purchased but I still need the formula in column H to be intact.
