Insert Two Columns For Selected Rows
Dec 6, 2008I would like to select a number of columns and then run a macro that would insert two columns after each of the selected columns.
Or is there perhaps a faster way than using a macro?
I would like to select a number of columns and then run a macro that would insert two columns after each of the selected columns.
Or is there perhaps a faster way than using a macro?
The following code inserts a row below the selected row, and copies the formula of the row above into it.
Dim Rw As Integer
Rw = ActiveCell.Row
Selection.Insert Shift:=xlDown
Rows("" & Rw - 1 & ":" & Rw - 1 & "").Copy
Rows("" & Rw & ":" & Rw & "").Paste
However, I need to alter this to work for inserting more than one row at a time. ie. the user selects 'x' number of rows and 'x' rows are inserted below (in the same way 'Insert Row' works in Excel) and the row above the selection is copied down.
I have a worksheet which contain a lot of data in it. I want only certain rows and columns to be printed when I click a button. Actually I am trying to print a report.
Suppose I have data across A10:M100. Lets say from columns A to D are permanent, if the cell colour of any cell from E to M is not Red then that is to be printed along with the contents in A to D. Since I have bunch of data in that sheet almost 10000 rows I separated data by giving them name. If it is possible to have an option to choose from before printing that would be much much better. Because even though there are many cells left uncoloured I don't want them to be in the print as they are belong to another table (I have given name for each table)
If all columns from E to M in row 20 are Red then that row should not appear in the print. If J20 is left uncoloured then it has to be printed along with the data from A20 to D20 ( which I said permanent). This colour I fill by a macro as when required only for the range E to M.
I have this excel file which has data in it. However, this data will come in everyday. Eg, A1 to A10 is QWE, A11 to A20 is RTY, A21 to 30 is UIO. But as I said earlier new data will come in everyday. For eg, it will become A1 to A15 is QWE, A16 to A30 is RTY and so and so forth.
I need to insert 2 rows after QWE, RTY, UIO. But as data will come in everyday, I cant standardise my columns to insert the 2 rows.
I have attached an example of what I need the macro for. I really need it to look at the columns with the names (Girth Weld, Weld) and the Joint length column to make its moves. Mainly the joint length. I think that would get me on track and give me some room to explore and learn what else I need to do. I love to try and figure things out but this is killing me!

What is the easiest way to stop users inserting new columns or rows into a workbook? Is it a case of protecting each sheet individually?

I have a spreadsheet which contains data needing to be re-formatted into a suitable format for my database. So far I have been doing this by hand, but want to make it quicker as I have over 2000 lines to sort out. I am trying to write a macro that determines whether there is data in the column next to the active one (D2), and if there is counts how many columns there is data in. Once it has done this it needs to insert the same number of rows as there are columns, then copy the column data and transpose it into the empty rows. My macro seems to work at first, but it exits after around the 4th row, but I can't work out why.
Sub split_For_Database()
Dim No_Of_Cells As Integer
Dim Start_Cell As Range
Dim Cell As Range
Dim LastRow As Range
Dim i As Integer
Dim lRows As Long
Set LastRow = Range("C65536").End(xlUp)
i = 0
Set Start_Cell = Range("C2")
Set Cell = Start_Cell
Do While Start_Cell.Address <= LastRow.Address
Do While Cell.Offset(0, 1) > 0
i = i + 1
Set Cell = Cell.Offset(0, 1)

I have a large data file. In column A is 8760 entries (every hour of every day of the year). Columns D & E are linked, Column D is the time and date whilst Column E is a parameter assocaied with that time and date.
There should also be 8760 entries in these columns, however there are some missing data lines in columns D & E. I would therefore like to move the rows in columns D & E so they match with the entries in column A. Can anyone help? I have a headache as i have over 70 files to complete this operation on.

I am looking for a way of allowing users to edit the existing cells at their will, but simultaneously disabling the option to insert/ delete columns or rows.
By enabling Sheet Protection, I cannot find a way to do it. Can I?
I am on MS Excel 2007 by the way.
I found the way, just unlock all cells in Format Cells, Protection Tab. Then Protect sheet and de-select what you want to disable.
I'm working in a workbook with several sheets, the first two collums of each sheet are =to the first sheet. some times I need to insert a line, but when I did that, I need to type again all formulas or drag the previous ones, and format again the cells. is there another way to do this?

I have a master data sheet with four columns, A, B, C and D
Column A has the primary data and B,C,D has dependent data values;
So when I insert a new cell in Column A with cells Shift Down, I want mandatorily new cells to be inserted in the same row in col B, C and D as well so that data integrity is maintained;
On the first row of a spreadsheet template is a <hidden> contiguous series of conditionally formatted cells (range name "stdRow" =production!$1:$1), with formulas, that I want a user to be able to easily insert at whatever row they might be in a worksheet.
If, for example, the user is at D24, then clicks the [InsertRow] button that I have positioned at the top of the worksheet (in a fixed pane), I want the attached macro to insert an instance of "stdRow" directly underneath the user position (at row 25, in this case). The use's position should still be at D24 when the macro finishes. If the user clicks the button multiple times, multiple rows should be inserted (again, without changing the user's position).
This is what I have tried so far:
What I am trying to accomplish is the ability to insert a value into a cell if an option button is selected. If the option button is not selected I want there to be a different value in the cell. This is what I have so far:
Sub OptionButton2_Click() Range("F8").Value = "$299" End Sub
What I am having issues with is the "else" clause. I want the value to show $0 if the option button is not selected. I attached a screen shot for reference.
I am in the process of developing a budget template for next year and here is what I want to accomplish through Macro to avoid the tedious mannual manipulation process (hope that's achievable). BTW, I am only an entry-level Macro user who has no background in coding.
I have attached an Excel sample but let me explain:
In each of the expenses tabs (1, 2, and so on (only 1, 2 given in the sample)), I want to be able to select a range of the data cells (A19:Q34 in "Expense 1" and A10:Q28 in "Expense 2") and run this Macro so that:
1. 10 blank rows be inserted between selected data rows
2. A sum created for each month from the four rows below) with different color
3. A Year to Date Actual and To Year End Forecast created based on the VLOOKUP of the "P&L" matching the account code by month
4. Finally grouping of the first 9 rows.
the above is what I have manually created for the first account code in the "expense 1" tab. I have 7-8 expenses groups and about 200 account codes. So mannually creating the above for each expense groups is not that terrible if this will make life easier for Macro.
I would think this is a very typical Macro issue but can't really come up with anything.
The other issue I ran into the VLOOKUP for the YTD Actual and TYE Forecast. It is to look up accont code in the "P&L" tab and match the #s. But the column numbers in the VLOOKUP do not change automatically when I copy across. Thus I have to change mannually, which is really a pain in the butt. I also know I can't copy down because that will change the account code that I want it to match. Because to be able to copy the VLOOKUP formula across the same account code, I need to use the $ to fix the account code. But to copy down I think I need that to be without the $ sign. Any solution on that?
I would like to insert the count of items selected in a listbox in a Userform into a cell. I have been scowering the internet and all of the solutions seem pretty clunky (or don't work).
An alternate way that I could do this is if I have the values selected be entered into a column and then I can use the =count() formula, but I can't figure out how to do that either...
I have a spreadsheet with thousands of columns. Due to poor planning on my part I need to insert a column between each existing column (e.g. I need to insert a column between the existing columns A and B, B and C, etc...). I would rather not have to do this manually thousands of times.

I would like to have my macro code search column A (supplier numbers) and split the rows into groups of rows of 5 or less and then insert 3 blank rows between each group of rows. I have a spread sheet with values in the area of A1:H834
In column H, I have number values from 1-7.
Essentially that number value means that the values in the row are duplicate.
So, for example, if H2 has a value of 4, that means that $A$2:$G$2, really should have an additional 3 rows underneath with the EXACT same data in each cell, however, the way the sheet was created, was to remove the duplicate values and just indicate in column H, the number value of how many duplicates $A$2:$G$2 really is.
I need to unpackage this and create what it was originally. What type of formula can I use, to look at the value in H2, and then insert underneath that number of rowes with the exact same data as A2:G2 and do the same for the remainder of the table all the way down to A834:G834
I'm a macro novice and have been trying to teach myself how to write the correct one for a task I need to do, but I cannot seem to get it right. Basically, I have bunch of data and for one of the variables, different values are separated by commas. What I want is to create a row copying the info below for each piece of data after the comma.
Sheet1
A
B
C
D
[Code].....
I suspect there is a fairly easy way to do this, but I cannot figure it out from searching the forums (or rather, I can't get it to work right).
i have this code which inserts blank rows in alternate rows,
Code:
Sub insertrow()
' insertrow Macro
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
Dim count As Integer
Dim X As Integer
For count = 1 To 20
If activecell.Value "" Then
activecell.Offset(1, 0).Select
[code].....
what changes should i make in this code to insert rows only when ther are now blank rows. So first time i run, blank rows are already there, and when i update some data at the bottom and re-run it inserts blank rows again.
I want to import one worksheet from different workbooks to Master workbook. In the source workbook, I need to import only ' Code' sheet and in this code sheet , I need only 4 columns(A, E, F, and I ) to import. I also need cell C3and E3 in source worksheet to master workbook
I want to import like 'Code(1), Code(2), Code(3),, and so on. I don't want to import whole thing in the one sheet in the master workbook.
IN the master workbook, the header is on A3, so starting row will be row 4 in master workbook.
Codes below is for 'stacked' style, I guess.
[Code] .....
I'm prompting the user for what two ranges they want to keep in a excel sheet and then I want to delete the rest of the columns. There may be 5 total columns and there may be 30, it will vary. The reason I want to do this is because I will then save data to CSV file and it can only have two columns of data to be passed on for other data processing.
