I have a spreadsheet with thousands of columns. Due to poor planning on my part I need to insert a column between each existing column (e.g. I need to insert a column between the existing columns A and B, B and C, etc...). I would rather not have to do this manually thousands of times.
I have a data set that I wish to look up the data from one column and if it is greater then 0 write it in another column separated by commas. Here is an example:
The data is dates that a service was provided and how many time that day it was done and not everyone gets the service on the same days. I would like to summarize the days of the month that service was provided not number of times into 1 cell.
A B C Row 1 November Row 2 1 5 15 Row 3 1 0 2 Row 4 0 1 3
November is in A3
If A2 is greater then 0 I want to write A1 A2 If A2 and A3 is greater then 0 I want to write A1 A2, A3 If A2 is 0 and B2 is greater then 0, I want to write A1 B2
I would like to take the data from worksheet1 and put into worksheet2 but limit the length of a list (the real spread sheet has over 100 rows and i would like them in 4 sets of 25 versus the example I provided). Is there an array or macro that would make this work (keeping the formatting)..
I have two columns of account numbers. Column A would be considered the master list. Column B is data that changes on a monthly basis. What I would like is for a macro to compare column B to Column A and if it finds any account numbers not listed in column A it will insert a row into column A and copy/paste the account number from column B to A. Both rows are sorted assending so if its possilbe I would like the macro to insert the account number where it belongs or maybe just resort column A once it has finished. My knowledge of macros/VBA is very limited at this point
I have a master data sheet with four columns, A, B, C and D
Column A has the primary data and B,C,D has dependent data values;
So when I insert a new cell in Column A with cells Shift Down, I want mandatorily new cells to be inserted in the same row in col B, C and D as well so that data integrity is maintained;
I have a spreadsheet with 10 columns which are for tags for products. Some columns are filled in for 10 products and some are not. For instance, product 1 has 7 tags while product 2 has only 2 tags and so on. Now what I am looking to do is combine all the tags for each product with a "," inbetween each one. The problem is if I just use a simple =A2&","&B2&","&C2 etc formula is that if there are only 2 tags then I get 8 ","s. I also tried it with an IF statement but by the time I was done nesting items I became cross eyed and said there has to be an easier way to do this.
I have create a spreadsheet with the data and the result that I typed into the "result" column.
The key point is that I have over 400 columns grouped in three, offset by one row down for each (this is due to a different formula I have working). Each column is 60 numbers long (not including empty cells above data). I want to copy all of these columns into a single set of three columns on another sheet (Sheet2). (These will be the fifth, sixth, and seventh columns, E, F, and G. If it would be simpler, I could simply copy the third of each set of columns on Sheet1 (C, F, I) to column G of Sheet2. Then there would be a total of 144 columns being copied (60 numbers per column).) All of this copying has to be values-only as the original columns consist of formulas referencing outside cells. Sheet2 should look like this:.............
I found this code on Ozgrid to sort all columns of a worksheet that were continuous with no gaps or spaces that works well:
Sub CopyToA() Do While ActiveCell <> "" Range(ActiveCell, ActiveCell.End(xlDown)).Cut Destination:=Range("a65535").End(xlUp).Offset(1, 0) ActiveCell.Offset(0, 1).Select Loop End Sub
However, I've tried to manipulate the code myself to 1) find all columns that aren't empty then 2) sort each column individually (WITHOUT expanding the sort to other columns) and 3) combining all the numbers into one seperate column. There are many posts concerning sorting but not one that addressed this particular situation.
I am trying to write a macro that will take data from column A and use it as a column header in column C, and then take the corresponding data in column B and list it under the column header in column C. When the value in column A changes it will move on to column D and then list the corresponding data from column B underneath it in column D until all of the data in the 2 columns is spread across the worksheet. Example:..............
I have a table in which the rows represent cities and the columns represent certain characteristics/ attributes a city can have. In the cells every city & attribute pair receives a "grade"
City EatingBeachSki Barcelona 210 Chamonix 002
I would like to transform this so that every row represents a city & attribute pair and includes its corresponding grade.(I want to do this in order to be able to add more information about city- attribute pairs rather than about cities only)
I am aware that I can use a pivot table to sort out all the pairs with a specific grade. and then I could paste this into a new table. But my data base (number of cities x number of attributes) is huge and I was wondering if there is no automatic process to make this transformation.
I have the following macro which I use to transpose a number of columns in one sheet to rows in another sheet.
PHP Sub task1()Dim i As Integer, n As LongFor i = 5 To Columns.Count Step 2 n = n + 1 With Sheets("Working_Checklist_1").Cells(10, i).Resize(16) Sheets("Summary_Intermediate").Cells(n + 2, "c").Resize(.Columns.Count, .Rows.Count) _ .FormulaArray = "=if(transpose(Working_Checklist_1!" & .Address & ")=0,"""",transpose(Working_Checklist_1!" & .Address & "))" End WithNextEnd Sub
I'd like to change this macro so to transpose from rows to columns. I've tried a couple of things, but can't quite get it to work.
I'd like to transpose every second cell starting from E7 to IV7 in Working_Checklist into column BU in Summary_Intermediate, starting from BU3.
firstly i am cross-posting this topic so here is the URL to the same thread in a different forum.

whats up everybody? i have to use two excel worksheets that someone else already created to make CSV (comma seperated value) files. these CSV files are to be dumped into a database. the problem is that the table has more fields than the spreadsheet does (the spreadsheet has 3 fields - network, mask, size - and the table has 10 fields). i can insert one entire column before (to the left of) network (for the ID field in the table) without a problem, but when i try to insert entire blank columns after size (to the right of the pre-existing columns) it only makes columns for the first 14 rows. i know this because when i save it as a CSV file there are only 6 extra commas for the first 14 rows. is there a way to insert an entire blank column for the entire spreadsheet (as in all the way to the bottom)? i dont want to have to manually type in all those commas. i am using excel 2002.
I have a large database of research data where the first column contains different categories (labelled as I, II, III, IV, V, and VI). For each row there is a data value in the second column that is numeric. What I need to do is move the data so that the data are displayed in 6 columns with the data values listed each column heading according to the category label. In the example I've shown there are 6 different categories, but the number of categories (and hence the number of columns in the final resulting sheet) will change for different data sets that I'm using. Also note the the number of cases for each different category is different (so that each column will not be even in terms of the number of rows of data under each column heading). I hope I've been able to explain what I'm looking for clearly.
I've attached a sample file showing the sample data input that I have on one sheet, and then the desired re-tablulated outcome on the second. I have done this using the auto-filter function and copy/paste, but this will take far too long for the larger datasets I'm working with.
I have columns A through AKP (A:AKP) with data, and there is a varied number of rows for each column. If possible, I need a macro that will "stack" columns in pairs of two. For example, column "C" directly under column "A" and column "D" directly under column "B" and so on for all columns A:AKP.
This is an example of what my data looks like:
COLUMN A COLUMN B COLUMN C COLUMN D ROW 1 2598 F800 2599 F800 ROW 2 2598 K1300 2599 K1300
I am unable to insert columns on any worksheets. Even a blank worksheet. The insert column function remains disabled. Work sheets are not protected. What can I do to activate this function?
I have this excel file which has data in it. However, this data will come in everyday. Eg, A1 to A10 is QWE, A11 to A20 is RTY, A21 to 30 is UIO. But as I said earlier new data will come in everyday. For eg, it will become A1 to A15 is QWE, A16 to A30 is RTY and so and so forth.
I need to insert 2 rows after QWE, RTY, UIO. But as data will come in everyday, I cant standardise my columns to insert the 2 rows.
somehow i managed to do this at first and then forgot to save my personal work book and cant remember how to do it.
What it is, is if cell A1 has a certain phrase in it ie Customer Reference then i want to insert four columns before it so it ends up in cell E1.
The other thing which i never managed to do is. I have 5 workbooks. master, book 1-4. I want to past all info in columns A:T from Book 1-4 into Master in the next available row.
I am looking for a VBA code (or alternatively a way of doing this in normal Excel) that can let me insert a column every X columns (for example every six columns).
Ideally I would want a code that can let me insert a specific column (the same) every X columns, but a formula that inserts a blank column every X columns will hopefully do.
In my spreadsheets, I want to insert a formula in the existing columns of data. This is to be done after every 2 columns. There are 25 rows as well from 5 to 30.
My question is if there is any way I can make the "X" number typed in a cell be the X number of columns inserted after/before a cell, B12 (for example).
I have attached an example of what I need the macro for. I really need it to look at the columns with the names (Girth Weld, Weld) and the Joint length column to make its moves. Mainly the joint length. I think that would get me on track and give me some room to explore and learn what else I need to do. I love to try and figure things out but this is killing me!

VB: Sub LineUp() 'assumes data in order and concates unique Dim i1 As Long, i2 As Long, n1 As Long, n2 As Long Const StartRow As Long = 5
I have a macro that inserts a blank column for every sheet in the workbook. The problem i have is that i only want a limited number of columns inserted. I only want a column to be inserted if the sheet tab has the name "detail" in it. I have tried for hours to get this to work, but i keep getting errors. Here is the code i am using.
