Apr 7, 2013I am unable to insert sheet rows or columns in a microsoft office spread sheet in a specific file. Other files are Ok.

Jan 8, 2007I am unable to insert columns on any worksheets. Even a blank worksheet. The insert column function remains disabled. Work sheets are not protected. What can I do to activate this function?

Nov 11, 2013It was suggested that cells formatted as lists will now allow new rows or columns. I don't think this is case but not sure how to tell? Other suggestions were merged cells or cells protected. Not sure if any of these are the case either.

Aug 22, 2007I have this excel file which has data in it. However, this data will come in everyday. Eg, A1 to A10 is QWE, A11 to A20 is RTY, A21 to 30 is UIO. But as I said earlier new data will come in everyday. For eg, it will become A1 to A15 is QWE, A16 to A30 is RTY and so and so forth.
I need to insert 2 rows after QWE, RTY, UIO. But as data will come in everyday, I cant standardise my columns to insert the 2 rows.

Aug 16, 2012I have attached an example of what I need the macro for. I really need it to look at the columns with the names (Girth Weld, Weld) and the Joint length column to make its moves. Mainly the joint length. I think that would get me on track and give me some room to explore and learn what else I need to do. I love to try and figure things out but this is killing me!

F4 Does Not Repeat Insert Rows Or Columns
Sep 12, 2009My F4 key (which I use constantly) works for every "repeat" function except for inserting rows or columns. I can repeat every other option EXCEPT inserting rows/columns. I just had Office 2007 uninstalled and had Office 2003 put back on my PC. My IT group can't figure it out.

Jan 31, 2008I have a spreadsheet which contains data needing to be re-formatted into a suitable format for my database. So far I have been doing this by hand, but want to make it quicker as I have over 2000 lines to sort out. I am trying to write a macro that determines whether there is data in the column next to the active one (D2), and if there is counts how many columns there is data in. Once it has done this it needs to insert the same number of rows as there are columns, then copy the column data and transpose it into the empty rows. My macro seems to work at first, but it exits after around the 4th row, but I can't work out why.

Feb 22, 2008I have a large data file. In column A is 8760 entries (every hour of every day of the year). Columns D & E are linked, Column D is the time and date whilst Column E is a parameter assocaied with that time and date.
There should also be 8760 entries in these columns, however there are some missing data lines in columns D & E. I would therefore like to move the rows in columns D & E so they match with the entries in column A. Can anyone help? I have a headache as i have over 70 files to complete this operation on.

Excel 2007 :: Disable Insert Columns / Rows Only
Mar 1, 2012I am looking for a way of allowing users to edit the existing cells at their will, but simultaneously disabling the option to insert/ delete columns or rows.
By enabling Sheet Protection, I cannot find a way to do it. Can I?
I am on MS Excel 2007 by the way.
I found the way, just unlock all cells in Format Cells, Protection Tab. Then Protect sheet and de-select what you want to disable.

I am attaching the code and the vba module that is suupose to do
following things
2) dELETES THE LAST 3 COLUMNS
3) Initial 6 letters from each cell (Q0001=) UPTO (Q00011=)
4)Inserts new row at top from Q1 TO Q11
5) Sorts data on Q6 (Faculty/Staff)
Before all this the i need to insert blank cells for questions that have not been answered and shift the cells right (condition 1) ....
Excel 2010 :: Unable To Right Click For Format Cells - Insert Or Delete
Sep 27, 2011Just recently My Excel 2010 has decided to not let me right click to format cells, delete or insert rows. I can do these functions from the ribbon, but not via right click. this happens in both existing spreadsheets where I am the author, or even a brand new spreadsheet like in the image below. we have restarted the computer, Uninstall and reinstalled Office and still get same symptoms. I got here thru google but cannot find an answer anywhere.
I am very computer literate and even our IT personnel have looked at this with no answer. as you can see in the image, these options are greyed out.

Unable To Hide Columns/delete Values Using Combo Box
Apr 24, 2007Using two Combo Boxes, I am trying to create an drop down outline form input sheet.
What it does is if you select the first selection in the combo box 1, then it hides certain rows, and deletes certain cells. If you select the second option in the combo box 1, it shows another combo box (2) which has another list of categories.
When I select the option 2 on the combo box 1, it unhides a bunch of rows, and activates combo box 2. However, when I try to select categories on combo box 2, each time it tries to hide/unhide rows I get this message "Unable to set the hidden property of the range class." I have no idea whats going on.

Unable To Delete 1 Million+ Rows
Apr 30, 2009I've accidentally created over 1 million rows across several sheets which has sent my file size over 35mb.
I desperately need to delete these and cannot find any way of doing so.
They were created through macros copying columns and pasting them elsewhere, although I'm not sure how they decided that 4-800 rows of data was worth a million rows.
Can anyone offer a solution that doesn't entail making a new sheet and rewriting all the forumula's in it?

I have many products and do not need all of them displaying at the same time, therefor I inserted a Checkbox (ActiveX Control) that hides my columns that I do not need. I did that by inserting the following and it works fine :

The problem is I now need to lock certain cells so that they can remain fixed and the recipe cannot change.
Once locked my checkbox no longer works and I get the following error :

Excel 2010 :: Unable To Delete Rows
May 30, 2014I'm on mac Excel 2010 and i'm trying to delete rows..but for some reason they don't go! My workbook is a basic one, just filled with a bunch of formulas, i can't understand why it wont let me delete it.
When i do try to delete it, nothing comes happens and when i try to delete a large amount it comes up with 'not enough memory, continue without undo deleting rows' but my laptop has 8GB and my other laptop has 16GB so i can't see why a 16GB laptop wouldn't be able to delete it.

Feb 9, 2013I would like to have my macro code search column A (supplier numbers) and split the rows into groups of rows of 5 or less and then insert 3 blank rows between each group of rows.
