I need in XL for a macro to run, open my word file, copy the entire thing and then paste it back in XL.
So leaving it general, Word.doc and Excel.xlsx
It's all because my company's POS system will only export to Word but everything we do is in XL.

I would like to automate this process that I'm doing currently through the "Text to Columns" function.
Basically I have various cells that contain many worlds such as:
FRESH LUNETTE SOLEIL REES 1'S
INFOKUS SOLEIL LECTURE LUNETTES 1'S
KENSIE LUNETTE SOLEIL ELEORA 1'S
KENSIE LUNETTE SOLEIL ELIZABETH 1'S
KENSIE LUNETTE SOLEIL JAMES 1'S
KENSIE LUNETTE SOLEIL VESPER 1'S
KIDS LUNETTE SOLEIL HOUSTEN 1'S
KIDS LUNETTE SOLEIL MINNIE 1'S
My goal is to separate the first world from the rest of the words in one cell.
Since all of the words are seperated by space, I use the the "Text to Columns" function and separate the words, so that I can get the first word into one column. The rest of the words have to be merged again through "Concatenate".
What I'm looking for is a VBA code or Excel function that can identify the first world (which vary in character lengths) and put it into one column.

I have a template document, created in MS Word. I want to generate, from Excel, a new document as would happen when you open the template from windows explorer or whatever ie. Template1.doc as opposed to Template.xlt.
The best I've managed to achieve is the opening of the template.

I have been working on the following VBA code, which should copy specific charts from excel into specific places in a word-template.
I Am quite new with VBA, so I googled the code, changed a few things, and it works exactly as it should - except from one thing. When the Word-document is loaded from the template, I would like the document to be "saved as..."
Instead of just opening the template. I have tried
Code:
.ActiveDocument.SaveAs Filename:=fname & ".doc"
The code is as follows:
Option Explicit
Sub EksporterTilWord()
Dim appWrd As Object
Dim objDoc As Object
Dim FilePath As String
Dim FileName As String

I've set myself a project to try and automate some repetitive filling in of word documents and would like a point in the right direction. I've done some research on the MSDN and some sites on the web. The way I was thinking of doing it would be,
make a template with either Fields or Bookmarks (which would be best?) for each piece of data on the paper work.Put the repeated data into an excel sheet (with a button for the macro to be assigned to).
write some VB script that will, define and "label" the data in the XL sheetopen the word templateenter the data into each Field/BookmarkSave as a new file in a "New" folder (name of file and folder taken from the Data)open the next template and repeat.
would this be the best way of approaching this problem?Whats the best way of defining points in a word template, Fields, Bookmarks?what objects would I need to use to rename the folder?

I have a .dot word template that has the little 'grey' boxes that is awaiting information to be filled in, this information is already stored on a master excel sheet and the doc is simply for 'archiving' and users benefit, from my point of view its pointless.
So what I want to know is...
If I always have a .dot file which has :
Username : DATAHERE
Password: DATAHERE
Email: DATAHERE
and I have an excel file which is A1 : Username B1 : Password C1 : Email how easy / hard is it to create a button macro to automatically go to the .dot file location, open it and then put the create data in.

I've created the following code to perform a mailmerge to word from my excel spreadsheet, but when I run the code I am having a couple problems, and I have no idea where to start looking to correct them. I set up the Mailmerge Main Document as a Word Template with the Mergefields already filled in.
The data is coming from the first sheet in my excel workbook which has the headers for each column in Row A, and the headers match the word Mergefields I entered in my word template. When I run the following code, even though there are currently only 60 or so rows of " records" the result in word is 34 pages of my 5160 Avery Labels. After it runs out of the actual records it creates 32 pages of blank labels which appear to be printing only the current date and appear to be pulling the data from blank cells in my "ActivityDate" column of my datasource.
Also, everytime I run the macro, I get a message saying that "a table in the document has become corrupted"
Sub MaiMerge()
Dim oApp As Word.Application
Dim oMainDoc As Word.Document
Dim wb As Excel.Workbook
Dim sDBPath As String

I want to pull data from my excel file (using VBA) into Ms Word. I created a template in Word and wrote a macro to do this, it worked, however, anytime a new row is inserted or deleted in my excel spreadsheet my macro produces wrong results in my Ms Word template because the cell position has shifted, thereby producing the wrong result. How do i make it that my result remain the same when new row is added to my spreadsheet.
Example:
Excel row1: vicky 528
row2: sam 532
row3: john 092
row4: Own 211 word template: 092
This is what happen next:
Excel (New row added) Macro: ThisDocument.ScreenedPatients.Caption = wb.Sheets("CSAs").Cells(16, 1)
row1: pat 542
row2: vicky 528
row3: sam 532
row4: john 092
row5: Own 211 resulting Word template(running macro): word template: 532
But I want John to automatically go on the Word template without going into macro to change it all the time when a new row is added.

Somehow I have changed a default setting that I cannot figure out how to change back. I have various templates setup in a "Forms" folder. Normally I go to My Documents, find the template file and double click on it, and the appropriate program (usually either Excel or Word) starts and opens a copy of the template as a document. What happens now is that the program starts and the template itself opens. I have tried going to My Documents and right clicking on the file and what appears to be happening is that the default (highlighted) option is "Open" instead of "New" which is what the default used to be. How do I change it back?--

In Pre Office 2007 versions I could drop an .xlt file (or shortcut to one) on my desktop, when double-clicked it would open a new workbook using the appropriate .xlt template. In 2007 versions double-clicking on the .xltm opens the actual template. Does anyone know a workaround for this, or more likely what setting in Excel I have wrong?

I have one worksheet with four columns of data. Column A is a well name, RA-0001, column B is the measured depth of the well from 0 feet to however far down it goes, anywhere from 4000 to 15000 feet, column C is the inclination of the well, column D is the Azimuth.
I have 500 wells from RA-0001 to RA_0500 or so all in this one worksheet, all the wells have varying Measured Depths associated to their well name. I need to create a macro that can separate the wells and either put them in a new worksheet for each well, ie. a worksheet named RA-0001, RA-0002, ..... ect. OR, and this would be nicer, a macro that can actually save all these individual wells as (Formatted Text (Space Delimited)) files with the associated well name.
Here is an example of what it looks like. The columns do not have a subject line to state what information is in each column because I dont need it in that format.
RA-0001
0
0.00
0.00
RA-0001
100
0.91
5.56
[Code] .......
Even just knowing how to create a simple macro that would take all the data from each well so I could manually copy and save them as new files.

I work for a company that has about 650 locations. Each location has a location manager that is responsible for submitting a Performance Review spreadsheet for all the employees at their location.
Currently I have an Excel file that has all employees/locations. One of the columns on my spreadsheet is "Location ID"...which is literately a number we've assigned to our Locations. I have an Excel template saved that I'd like each Location to open into.
Can someone help me? I need each location to be it's own spreadesheet...which I have a template created already. I'd prefer to find an automated way to do this...rather than manually creating 650 spreadsheets.
I'd prefer to do this in anoter application, such as MS Access, but senior management already made the decision this will be done in Excel...so I'm stuck with what I got.

I have used the directions below (from this site) to add a name to a validated cell and have that name added to a list. The issue I am trying to solve is this, when opening a new file from the template containing the code below the new file needs to have the range to which I'm refering updated to the range that was in the last opened file from the template. I tried by using a macro to copy and paste the range to an external wb that was hidden and then copy and paste to the new file opened from the template but it was a mess.
If anyone can help by posting some example code to steer me in the right direction I would be very grateful
1. Add any list of names or items to the range A1:A10 on any sheet.
2.Now in cell A11 enter this formula and copy it down to say row 20. =IF( COUNTIF($A$1:A10,$D$1),"x",$D$1) Note the relative reference of A10
3.Go to Insert>Name-define and in the Names in workbook: box type:MyName
4.In the Refers to: box enter this formula: =OFFSET(Sheet1!$A$1,0,0,COUNTIF(Sheet1!$A:$A,"<>x"),1)
5.Click Add then Ok.
6. Select Cell D1 and go to Data> Validation, select List from the Allow: box and in the Source: box type: =MyNames Ensure the In-cell dropdown box is checked.
7.Click the Error Alert page tab and uncheck the Show error alert after invalid data is entered box. Now click Ok.
8.Right click on the sheet name tab and select View Code in here paste the code below:
Private Sub Worksheet_Calculate()
On Error Resume Next
Application.EnableEvents = False
Range("MyNames") = Range("MyNames").Value
Application.EnableEvents = True
On Error Goto 0
End Sub
9.Click the top right X to get back to Excel and now Save.
Now select cell D1 and type in any name, that is NOT part of the list, and Enter. Select D1 again and look at the list. The new name should now be part of it!

I created a custom toolbar button which works perfectly.
Because I needed to save each workbook as a specific workbook this is taken care of by the vb code.
I would like when the button is pressed for the original workbook template to be opened.
At this moment if I have a blank workbook or no workbook open and I press the button the programme opens a version of the workbook but not the template version how do I point Excel at the templates.

I have a template file for ordering trafolyte and steel plates. I have added macros to this template file. The existing macros do the following (shortly described):
Macro 1: clears order
Macro 2: update order date + send a read only file to the supplier of plates + save a read only copy of the file into one of three folders acc to info in one of the cells.
It's the Macro 2 I want to edit.
I want to add a "function" which copy a selection of data.column A to N from row 12 to 548 but only the rows where there is a value in column A.
Row 1 to 11 includes standard order info and Macro buttons.
Row 11 includes the heading for order data.
For everytime someone click on the Macro 2 button in the template file, I want the selection to be paste into the first "available" row in a "Total list" file.
The "Total list" file may have to be open (or a function to open, paste selection and then close the "Total list" file may be added)
File and Folder info:
To simplify suggestions, the following file and path info can be used (I can change to the correct later):
Template file name: template_order.xlsm
Template file location: \servershared emplate
Total list file name: total_list.xlsx
Total list file location: \servershared otal
Selection info:
The template file exists of a "general order info area" A1:N10
The column heading for order data is located at A11:N11
The selection to be copied is A12:N550 - But only rows where column A includes data (not empty).
(If the spesific order consists of 14 plates than there will be item no 1-14 in column A and I then I want to copy A12:N25 (row 25 will be item 14).
When I try to use record macro it looks like it only records what's happening in the template file - It doesn't record the pasting in the total list.

I've took on a task that I stupidly volunteered myself for since no one else will.. including our development or IT team will seem to get completed.
Here's my dilemma:
User has information in Word that needs to go to XL WorkSheet. It has been formatted with tabs so that the information is copy and pasted into individual cells. To avoid human error, I want XL to open with a fresh workbook so that the information can be pasted into it with the Macro being run from Word.
I've searched everywhere to look for code to open XL up from Word and cannot find anything.
Will it be possible to open a new workbook and paste that information all with a macro from Word? Or will I need to trigger a macro in an already saved workbook?

5) Format the doc - not done
6) Filter out rows containing keywords - not done
Just to get started I tried this code to open an existing word doc but it doesn't work
Code:
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Set wrdApp = CreateObject("Word.Application")
Set wrdDoc = wrdApp.Documents.Open("C:BShift.doc")
End Sub
It says file cannot be found. There is a file there named BShift in word 2010.
