Obtaining Varying Position Cell Value From Different Sheet?

I want to automate the process of updating my football stats and have delved into getting my data from the web. I have managed to import a football league onto my "standings" sheet but I want my "strengths" sheet to read it's values from this new "standings" sheet.
The "standings" sheet is broken down into 2 tables (home & away) one above the other.
The values I want are Home Games, Away Games, Home Goals For, Away Goals For, Home Goals Against And Away Goals Against from both the home table and the away table. The main problem I have is that the cell information I need is likely to change as I update the league tables from the web. So say one week Team A's data is in row 7 the following week it could be in row 8 so i need the data to correlate with the team name cell in my "strengths" sheet.
So at the moment Atromitos Home games (cell B8 on my strengths sheet) needs the value from cell C8 on my "standings" sheet but by next week it could need the value from C9.
Ps I am assuming that I can just just hit the refresh button on the ribbon and the data from the web site will update. Is this correct?

I am attempting to have cells in Column 'U' deliver different drop-down menus based on the corresponding value in column 'D'. I have created 7 named lists:
List_117G
List_152
List_JMET
List_XBAND
List_PACWIND
List_VORTEX
List_ROVER
Those lists will be called up based on 7 values in column “D”:
“G”
“152”
“J”
“X”
“D/E”
“V”
“R”
So far I have only been able to get this to work for the first category “G”. When I change the value of column “D” from “G” to “152” I no longer get a drop-down. Here is the formula I am using in the List function of validation.
=IF(D6="G",List_117G,IF(D6="152",List_152,IF(D6="J",List_JMET,IF(D6="X",List_XBAND,
IF(D6="D/E",List_PACWIND,IF(D6="V",List_VORTEX,IF(D6="R",List_ROVER,)))))))

i have a workbook with two sheets. lets just call them sheet 1 and sheet 2. on sheet 1 i have data for employees and their current wages and other info. on sheet 2 the data is for compensation scale on three separate columns.......
in order for me to automatically get the data from (sheet 2 B3) the formula for sheet 1 E1 would be: ='Sheet 1'!B3. how do i formulate the equation so that i can do ='Sheet 2'!(C1)(D1)?. in other words i want to specify the column and row from the values declared in sheet 1 column c and column d respectively.

There are 11,000 rows and 4,000 are unique. The goal is to merge the data down to the 4,000 records. Each of the unique entries shows up 1 to 15 times.
In trying to solve this, I wonder if I should break this down into the different # of occurances and implement specific solutions. e.g., There are
5700 entries that show up 2x
504 that show up 3x
24 that show up 12x

I want to call a macro with a varying name that is within a module with the same name.
I have a module called Test1 and within this, a macro name called test1
I have a module called Test2 and within this, a macro name called test2
etc
On another module called Test8 (with the macro called Test8), this Test8 macro will call either Test1 or Test2 or Test3 etc depending on what I choose in an excel spreadsheet. So on sheet1, cell A1, there is a drop down with the options Test1 or Test2 or Test3 etc.
The following works to run the macro test1 from module test1 (when it does not vary i.e. i physically put in the name of the macro myself):
Sub Test3()
Test1.Test1
End Sub
The following works to run the macro test2 from module test2 (when it does not vary i.e. i physically put in the name of the macro myself):
Sub Test3()
Test2.Test2
End Sub
etc
However, if I try it so that the calling of the macro varies as below , it does not work:
Sub Test3()
MacroToCall = Sheets("Sheet1").Range("A1").Value
MacroToCall.MacroToCall
End Sub

so basically, im trying to find a way to get cell G3 to have Value X dependant on value from Cell G2. e.g. if cell g2 is 8 and 9, g3=10 if g2 is 11, g3=20 and so on. i dont mind having to add a preset table of values if we need, but it would be set on sheet 2.
EDIT
Value from cell G2 will always be between 4 and 20, set by the user. what i want is that each of those values gives G3 a pre-planned value.
if g2 has value 4. g3 value would be -5
if g2 has value 5. g3 value would be 0
if g2 has value 6. g3 value would be 5
if g2 has value 7. g3 value would be 5
if g2 has value 8. g3 value would be 10
if g2 has value 9. g3 value would be 10
if g2 has value 10. g3 value would be 15
if g2 has value 11. g3 value would be 20
if g2 has value 12. g3 value would be 20
if g2 has value 13. g3 value would be 25
and so on until it reaches g2=20
i was thinking of setting a table on sheet 2 for the g3 values, and get an IF function to do something like IF g2 = a then x, if g2 = b then y etc etc. im just not sure how it would work, unless an INDEX function would work better?

Have some code I have found from this site shown below. It works great however I need some help in editing it to change what it does. Basically the code currently takes all the data from set cells from all sheets after a set point and adds a new sheet and copies data from each of the sheets between this point and the new sheet and then pastes it to this final sheet.
What I wish to change is I already have a sheet which I will be using to analyse data from so how would the code look to be able to point to such a sheet within the same workbook? The sheet will be within the first 2 sheets of the workbook so from the code below you can see I have already set it to not include this sheet. I wont be needing a new sheet to be created at the end, I just want the data to paste to my analysis sheet which we can call "analysis".

I have a workbook with several sheets of varying length (amount of columns). The length of each sheet changes every week. I want particular data from the sheets to come together on one sheet in as organized a fashion as is possible. I'm currently losing my mind copying and pasting every week when I need to update the thing.

I've written code that involves adding a number of new sheets to a workbook. I want to specify that each new sheet is positioned to the right hand side of all other sheets in the book, so that the sheets are positioned in the order (when reading from left to right) that they are added.
I know about the Copy After:= thing but I only know how to specify copying after a particular sheet name. I could solve my problem by each time referencing the sheetname from the previously-created sheet, but I think there must be a way to it properly.

Some of the links end up as the last visible active cell on sheet 2.
How can I have the linked cells in sheet 2 be the uppermost visible active cell below row 1 which is frozen.

I execute code to open Excel, add a workbook, and then add a 4th worksheet to the workbook. The first time through the code it works like a charm. When I execute the code the second time, I get the following error: Error Number 1004, Method 'Sheets' of object '_Global' failed.

I'm using a bit of code (below) which is not amazing but which does seem to work, the idea being that entering a number then the active cell relating to that number will be highlighted and the sheeet position will "goto" it to move it into view on the screen. I have adapted this from something in one of my old Workbooks, and I admit it's probably a bit messy!
The problem is, it doesn't seem to always put the returned active cell in the same place, sometimes it's nicely central to the screen, but at others it's right at the top. As the numbers corrrespond to the top line of each little area of 30 rows, I'd like it to to come about 10-12 rows down. I can't seem to get this to work!

I'm trying to summarize some data from an external workbook. The problem is that the worksheet names there are months (Jan2009, Feb2009 etc.) and the sheets rotate (change position) with time. In the summarizing workbook I would like to use a function to refer to (for example) cell A1 on the third worksheet, regardless of the current name of that worksheet. So I might have a cell in the summary workbook that looks something like "=CoolFunction(ExternalWB.xls, 3, A1)"

The problem I am having is in trying to make a custom cell format for inputting my data. I want it to appear as 44° 41' 5" (in the same cell). I would like the cell to function so that if im inputting data manually for it to automatically put in the appropriate (degree,minute or second marks). That way I could just enter somthing like 44 41 5 and it display properly. Also I am trying to keep the data in text format for another marco I am running to convert the DMS data into decimal.

I have an excel file (2003 version) with one sheet called sheet1.
On sheet1 I have multiple text boxes, however each text box has the same text box number "Text Box 1244" (this number appears in the top left-hand side in excel when I click the textbox).
I was wondering if it's possible to rename the text boxes based on their location on the sheet.
Eg. If i had a sheet with 5 rows of text boxes and 3 columns of text boxes (15 text boxes in total).
The top left-hand box gets renamed to "Text Box 1", then the text box below that gets renamed to "Text Box 2" and so on to the bottom of the sheet to "Text Box 5". Then the vba script would move to the text box that was to the right of the first text box (1st row again but 2nd column), and rename all the text boxes in that column ("Text Box 6" onward).
The outcome would look something like:
TB1 TB6 TB11
TB2 TB7 TB12
TB3 TB8 TB13
TB4 TB9 TB14
TB5 TB10 TB15
I'm stuck on this problem a while now and cannot find any scripts to solve it. My VBA is non-existent, I usually get by on bits of code I find on the web.
I hope each textbox has a hidden co-ordinate associated with it, then it might be possible to loop through all the textboxes based on their positions and rename them.

I am trying to identify some combination of formulas or functions that will allow me to adjust the cell reference within a function based on a value in another cell. For example, I have a series of values listed from cell C50 to cell W50. I want to use a function to calculate the internal rate of return over a range of the cells: =IRR(C50:W50)
So far, so good.
However, I want the size of the range to be determined by a value entered in another cell, let's say B2. If the value in cell B2 is "5", I would want the formula to consider only the first five columns: =IRR(C50:G50). If the value in cell B2 is "10", I would want the formula to consider only the first ten columns: =IRR(C50:L50).

I am trying to run a VLOOKUP that allows me to reference all text (which can vary in length) in a cell up to the first '' from the right of the string. Also note that the master table of data being retrieved from is in another workbook. For example:
TestSalesDealsPlans - I just want to reference Plans (5 characters up until but not include '')
TestSalesDealsOrder Management - I just want to reference Order Management which obviously has more characters than the above example 'Plans' (16 characters up until but not include '')
I am fairly certain I will need to nest several functions such as RIGHT, VLOOKUP, MATCH, INDEX, etc but just not sure the most effective way to go about this.

I'm trying to find a way to display the latest stage that my processes are in, in a specific cell. Looking at the attachment, basically I need to display in cell E2 that my "Process 01" is in "STAGE AB" (because that is the latest stage populated with the achievement date). So similarly, for row 3, it should state "STAGE L".

I have drop drown menus that allow you to select 1 of 3 choices and based on those a second set which lists the options for the first three (subset). Now depending on the second value I need to pull a set of x y coordinates that can be of varying length. '
Example
Drop down menu 1 1560, 1669, 1554. Drop down menu 2 1560-1,2,3,4 1669-a,b,c,d. This has been done now lets say I select 1560-1. I need the following to be pulled from a list, the data is a block.
1.00 1.543
1.23 -1.25
0.54 -2.75
This can be of any length.

I need to make a cell display the contents of the cell immediately below it, regardless of if there are rows inserted at the referenced row or above or below it on the worksheet. ALSO I need to do this at several additional cell locations down the worksheet. Such as : A1 displays A2, A4 displays A5, A7 displays A8 etc.
Example: I want A1 to display whatever is in the cell immediately below it. In this case A2. I need to be able to insert several rows at row 2 and have whatever new value is now in the A2 position displayed in A1.
After the rows are inserted I need the cell that was in position A4 to continue to display the contents of the cell below it.
I tried using the formula in A1 of: =INDIRECT("A2") and it works good except when I insert the rows my similar formulas below the area where the rows were inserted continue to refer to the specific original cell and not the one positioned now below it.

have an assignment to complete and one of the tasks I found impossible to complete. First condition is that it should be completed with a formula (not VBA). So here is the task - I have different cells with IBAN codes in them. The 14th position in the IBAN is used to identify the currency of the account. There are 3 possible numbers - 0, 1 and 2 and each is for different currency. So I have this table where I need to lookup the 14th character in the cell with the IBAN, from there the formula needs not only to check what the number is (0,1 or 2) but also to compare it to another table from where to decide which is the currency. I tried various combinations with FIND/SEARCH but can't find a way to do it.. and I can't find other functions/formulas that can isolate a particular character position in a cell..
