I want to create a formula that values if the number in the cell is in the biggest 25 numbers in the column and also check in another column the same thing.If the number is within the 25 biggest from the first column or the second then to give me the number of the cell. I created a formula but it is very large in order to apply for the 1st to the 25th biggest number. The formula is:
IF(AND(or(K16=LARGE($K$16:$K$152,1),I16=LARGE($I$16:$I$152,1)),K16<>0),K16,"") but only for the 1st biggest number of the columns.

The attached sheet has two rows of numbers. The top one shows used energy, the bottom one produced energy. What I need to know is during what period of the day one has the biggest difference between the two. In this case this is between 1400 and 2000, 28 used and 9 produced (a difference of 19). The question is how this difference can be determined automatically?

I know how to make customs lists, but it's not getting me anywhere.
Let's say I have a lot of data containing values as follows and in the following list I sorted them from small to large:
5a
5a+
5b
5b+
5c
5c+
6a
6a+
6b
6b+
6c
6c+
7a
7a+
7b
7b+
7c
7c+
8a
and so on... In the list, the date isn't sorted from small to large, many values (if not all) occur multiple times and on occasion some values are added to the column. With that last part I mean that you can see it as a batch of 500, and if so far the batch only contains 450 values there will be (for the time being until items get added) 50 empty cells in the column as well.
You can't order numerically or alphabetically. I know I can make a custom list and then just sort according to that custom list so the biggest value would come out on top or bottom but that's not what I'm looking for either, as the data needs to be sort by another colomn (dates in chronological order).
So I'm just looking for a formule saying "return the biggest value if the order of things is as I typed above'.

I am trying to use a nested INDEX and MATCH array formula to return the value in column C when matching column A and column B, but with a few more criteria.
The range containing all the data

I am looking for the array formula to return the name of the person in column C who is in Cat 1 after the date in column B.
For example;
C7 should return "John" because B7 requests "January 15, 2014", which is after the value in B1
C8 should return "John" because B8 requests "February 15, 2014", which is after the value in B1
C9 should return "Andrew" because B9 requests "August 15, 2014", which is after the value in B4
The best try I had for the formula in C7 was
{(INDEX($A$1:$C$4,MATCH(1,($B$1:$B$4>=B7)*(A$1:$A$4=A7),0),3))}
This brings back "John" as desired in C7, but when copying down the table into C8 and C9 both C8 and C9 return Andrew.
I guess this is due to my ">=" condition in the Match formula and it is returning "Andrew" because "Andrew" is also after the date requested, but I cannot for the life of me work out how to get it to work.

I have a spreadsheet of several thousand named items (in column B) with values associated with them in column A). The "name" field is a string of several alternative names for the item.
I have a list of ~50 items that I am trying to find the values for. Each uses one of the alternate names.
What I want is a function that will return the associated value in column A when one of my shortlist names is found.
For example, my big spreadsheet looks like:
AB
1dallas, DFW. 12345
2Atlanta, ATL, 23456
3Boston, BOS, 34567
4Chicago, CHI, 45678
5Los Angles, LA, LAX, 56789
And my list looks like
Atlanta
CHI
I want the output to look something like:
Atlanta2
CHI 4
Is the feasible? IT seems like there should be a way to do it....

I have the following sample data set and I'm trying to return the appropriate column header based on criteria (i.e. DDD) and a number value which will be somewhere within the range of the table. In example below, the value returned should be Header 2 because the value is greater than those in Header 1 column (range H9 to L26).

I have a tab that has 2 columns of data and I want to be able to return a value in column A if my data matches column B. If column B has the text TRUETRUE, I want to bring back the corresponding data in Column A. How do I return all the data in Column A for all the TRUETRUEs in column B? I can only get the first instance of TRUETRUE.

I have an array 20 Rows x 42 Columns, which contains a competition draw.
I need to search this array for a unique value and return whatever the time is in the first column on the same row as the value appears, and enter it into column C in the Womens Times sheet.
I also want to return into column D the court number from row 3.
The reason i want this automated is as teams enter / withdraw we may need to drag the games from court to court to fill gaps, so i want the Womens Times sheet to update accordingly.
I have been messing around with index and match, but cannot quite get it to return what i need.
I have attached an example ... on the sheet "Womens Times" in column A there is a list of game numbers ( #1W etc etc) indicating womens game #1 and so on. The main sheet i am using also has a seperate tab for the mens games, hence the designator of W or M on the end of the game number.

I need the searchable list box to return data one column to the right of the "searched" column data.
This works mostly with Data Validation.
Named range "validationlist" with "=OFFSET(Choice!$AC$4,,,COUNTIF(Choice!$AC$4:$AC$14,"?*"))"
D9 has a drop down control. Enter the cell and type "br" and click the drop down arrow. Mouse to choose an item from the list box. If you chose "brown" , it will be entered in the cell. The returned item should be "banana" from the other column. How to do this?
Once working the control needs to be used across the row in more cells: E9, F9... all the way out to W9. And there has will be a Lookup to pull data from elsewhere above D9.
This worksheet ultimately needs to be uploaded to Skydrive and used as a collaborative worksheet as a 'web app'.

I am trying to get a formula that will search one column range �B� and pull data from another, �D�. Dates are down column �B� and some of those dates are repeated several times. In column �D� there is only one piece of data (a number) entered for each day. Eg, if 08/06/2009 has been entered 3 times in column �A�, there will only be data entered in 1 of the cells of column �D� and blank cells in the other 2.
Column B -- Column D
07/06/09 -- 54000
08/06/09
08/06/09 -- 62000
08/06/09
09/06/09 -- 61000
I couldn�t get the LOOKUP function to work properly, as there are duplicate dates in column �B� and I often got a result of 0 returned.
As I�ve only got 1 piece of data added in column �D� per day and any duplicate days would just have blank cells in �D�, I can actually get a SUMIF function to work, SUMIF(B3:B60,DATE(2009,6,8),D3:D60). Although it does work, it doesn�t feel right using it and I would prefer a formula that would return just the one cell, instead of the sum of a range of cells.

I'm working on a project in which I have 50 states + DC listed by 2-letter abbreviation, and want to return a value in another column that will be a non-unique number (some will duplicate in the second column.)
Also need to do this same operation with first column (state) and third column, which also is comprised of non-unique numbers.
Hlookup, lookup & pivot tables seem to not be a fit for this.

In the first vlookup it picks up a value. I need to do the same vlookup function but it should also pick up another value in column 9 and should add value in column 7 and 9 and return it. Employee id numbers are in column E in the first page.My formula checks for the employee id in Su sheet and retrieves the value from the seventh column. I need to retrieve also from 9 th column and add them together.

I have two excel files.
File #1 is a varying length and has 4 columns with ID #s in Column A.
File #2 is a two column file that contains a list of ID #s in column A AND modified ID#s in column B.
I need to match the ID #s in column A from file# 1 to the list in column A of file#2 then replace ALL instances of the matching ID #s in column A of file#1, with the values found in column B of file #2.
I've tried using the substitute function but I could only replace one found ID at a time.

I'm looking for a formula that will return the column header (a date) of the first instance of a number greater than 0. For example if columns A through S had dates as in row 1 (header row), and in row 2, every column contained a 0 up until column P, I would want the date (Row 1, Column P) returned? I think this might be a sort of index/match formula, but I am not very familiar with these.

i tried to search on forum abou unique function but i didnt find what i need. I have 2 columns - column A - is "ID" and column B is "name". I want results in column C. I need formula, which look at ID and give me in C in the same row the unique �name� from B. If is the name by this ID first time in column, it return the name. If it second or more, it return blank.
