Save The Shared File

We have Excel 2003 at our workplace. I have shared a file, which is used by many users, so we can use the file at the same time. My problem is that if let's say I am writing a value in cell C2 and another user uses the same cell and writes another value there, and he saves the file and then I try to save the file as well, Excel will ask me which value to keep (the value written by the other user, or my value). Actually what I would need Excel to do is to save both, and put one under the other.

When a supervisor goes into one of my sheets and adds some things in, she quite often forgot to share it again. To try and combat this I added the following code:-

The code appears to do everything it should, and when I first ran it appeared to be ok. However, now it appears to save it as shared yet when you go back into the file it opens up as exclusive.... Is there a reason why the code wont "share" ?

We are currently utilizing a shared workbook (yes, I've read the inherent problems with this). This workbook needs to automatically save any changes and refresh itself every minute. We are seeking an answer to this goal, perhaps utilizing VBA code ?
We have researched the forums and attempted numerous snippets of VBA code and different settings already available in Excel (ver 2010) without success. And, we have tried using the Advanced Settings (Shared Workbook / Advanced Settings (5 mins)) .... however the display of newly added data is not updated on all viewing terminals unless we close the shared workbook on those viewing terminals and then re-open.

I am designing a workbook that techs in my lab can use from any of our network computers to submit requests for making chemical solutions they need to run their tests. Currently they have to fill out a paper form to make the request, so this should make things a little more efficient and less paper intensive.
I have the workbook designed and working, but now need to implement it as a shared file and this is where the problems are occurring. I assumed that shared files could allow access to the same file AT THE SAME TIME with no issues, but that is not the case in Excel97 on our network. Using two networked computers side by side I have tried updating the shared file at the same time and got a myriad of popups. The include:
1) Do you want to save the changes you made to "..."? (I did not include the actual filename here.)
2) A file named "......" already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it?
3) "......" is now available for editing. Choose Read-Write to open it for editing.
4) This file is locked. Try the command later.
5) This file has been locked by for saving. Try again later.
Question:
Are these error messages normal for shared files? Do some reflect issues more with the network than with Excel? Is there any way to get VBA to simulate clicking a Yes, No, or Cancel, or OK whenever a one of these specific messages comes up?

I have been reading up about shared workbooks within here which quite frankly is annoying me! I have rebuilt a spreadsheet from yesterday and shared it with:
Dont Keep change history
Update changes when file is saved
The changes being saved win
At start of day the file is 660kb, now by lunchtime I have it as 15mb. Does anyone know why this occurs? Becuase the file is getting bigger this is affecting performance

I have an Excel file in Shared Mode...
Now, when it starts, I have a popup form asking for password for access for it. The problem is that for one person - AND ONLY THAT PERSON - the VBA Editor window opens and she has to press the "Play" button for it to hide and be able to enter the password to access the application.
The editor is not showing on any other computer. All computers are running Excel 2010.

I am encountering a specific scenerio where In I am creating a New file by copying one of the sheets And renaming that With todays date. here starts me problem when I try To share the sheet To work around I am seeing that th macro Is Not copying the sheet properly even though i have given PasteSpecial. The code goes here
VB: AutoLinked keywords will cause extra spaces before keywords. Extra spacing Is Not transferred when copy/pasting, but Is If the keyword uses "quotes".

I've been having trouble recently with my workbook file size growing rapidly due to copy and paste commands and such. I found a very nice macro to reduce file size called ExcelDiet located at [url]

Here's the details:
Same file shared by many users in the office. File is maybe 2200 rows long and 20 columns wide. Last column is a text field where users can explain variances. Cells in the last column are wrapped and the rows auto-fit on the height. Zoom is set at 100%.
One person opens the file and it looks fine on the screen. Print preview also looks fine. File prints out perfectly.
Another user opens the file and it looks fine on the screen. BUT, print preview shows that the bottom line or lines of text is cut off. File prints exactly like the preview showed with clipped text.
Both users can point the file to the same printer, but that doesn't seem to change anything. Still prints with text clipped for one person and perfectly for another...

I have an addin in a shared folder which was created by someone else. (it is a user form). I need to create a macro which will go to its existing folder and then save it in the users personal addin folder also picking up their user id. There will be about 100 users so easier this way than going round doing it for them.
So I suppose the query is three fold.
1, pick up the addin and save it in a personal addin folder.
2, Find the username as part of the path file. For instance my personal would be:
"C:Documents and SettingsO033116Application DataMicrosoftAddIns"
The "O033116" is where I will need a search completed to obtain the user id.
The addin is called ServiceCredt.xla
3, Activate the installed addin.
The reason I want it this way is so the user is unable to access any of the code and we are in control.

What I am trying to do is that I have an excel file with macros and it is a read-only file. In order for the user to save, I want them to only be able to save as a .xlsx file as it disables all macros. If for whatever reason, the user wants to save the file as another .xlsm file, they should be allowed but before they save, a "are you sure you want to save as .xlsm?" message should pop up.
All the options in the save as box should still be available in case they want to save in that particular format. Just that the .xlsx should be the default.

My problem is in the date formula the day is not always the same. In the sample case it's 03 at other times the day will change.
is there a way too get this too work irregardles of what the day might be?

I have a spreadsheet where I want to require certain fields to be completed then I want to have that file auto emailed. I have learned that I do need to have the file saved before sending otherwise the data will not appear in the email, so with this I want to have the file temporarily saved emailed then the temp file deleted.

A co-worker of mine is exporting files from Quickpen as excel files, but every time he names the files with any Uppercase letters in the files name, they are automatically changing to all lower case. Even when he tries to rename the files, they will not stay with any uppercase letters....I have searched all over and cannot find a solution. If he sends ME the file, I can open it in excel and save it with any cases.

I have a Workbook that already has a macro in it that will generate multiple sheets based on certain criteria.
For each of these newly generated sheets (numbered 1-6 in the attached example), I need to be able save each of them to a PDF file based on a unique name contained in a certain cell (in this case, each named is referenced in cell Q1 of each sheet). As such, I should end up with 6 pdfs based on the attached sample files.
The PDFs would ideally need to be landscaped and should be just 1 page per sheet.
In my attached sample workbook, you'll notice that I have a "PracticePrint" macro that doesn't quite get the job done. One other criteria involves not printing any sheet with the characters "1010" in it (my PracticePrint macro is setup to do that, but it fails to do much else).

I have written the following simple macro to import some data into a worksheet and then prompt the user to save the file in Excel 2003 format (the system to which we will upload this data does not accept formats later than 2003). The template is in "*.xlsm" format.
The code executes without error, but when the user hits the "Save" button in the "Save As" dialog box, nothing happens. The "Save As" box closes, but no file is saved.

How can I save worksheet from existing workbook as a new workbook with extension .xls or .xlsx depending on the version of Excel on which the original was opened and no matter the extension of original?
My code that I was trying to create all above does not work, because even if I am using Excel 2007, 2010 or 2013 it will still be saving only as .xls.

I want to create a macro that will select all the worksheets (names and quantity will vary) and saves the file as the current file's name but in PDF. Since I only know how to record a macro it specifies the worksheet names but I need it for various workbooks. The name will vary plus the number of tabs can go anywhere from 3 to 40.
