Show Zeros After Decimal
Jun 25, 2009
I have a list of numbers:
21.20151242
28.012224
etc....
I want to round/truncate them as if it were currency and add "/month" to them
so the resulting column would be:
21.20/month
28.01/month
everytime I truncate to two digits and add the text it cuts off the final zero:
21.2/month
how do I do this?

Here's my problem. I need a formula to take the decimals out of a column but keep ending zeros. I have tried find/replace & several formulas but nothing seems to be working. Here is an example of the numbers in the column and the end result I need.
9.66 966
0.50 050
13.09 1309
309.98 30998

I need to never have a trailing zero be displayed but still have decimals displayed (we can use up to 3 digits for the example) Here's a list of test cases
Value______Display
1.234567___1.235
1.234______1.234
1.23_______1.23
1.230______1.23
1.2________1.2
1.200______1.2
1.0________1
1.000______1
1.020______1.02
1.0002_____1
0__________0
0.001______0.001
0.0001_____0
The only time I want to see a 0 is when the answer is 0 (or rounded to 0) or when 0 is required in the middle. This is for patient safety if you are curious. 2.0 when printed out or written by hand can be mistakenly read as "20" in the heat of things, thus 2.0 should be written/printed as "2" (no decimal on the end) not as "2." even, just "2"

I have a column of numbers with one decimal point and some blank entries too. I need to convert all the numbers (including the zeros, but not the blanks) to two decimal points. Any idea on how this can be done?
Examples: 0.1 needs to become 0.10, 0 needs to stay 0, a Blank cell needs to remain Blank.

I have 4 columns (and a couple of other text columns) that are formatted as decimal with 6 dicimal points.
I need to create a text file with lines that are 80 bytes each from the spreadsheet - no spaces inbetween each of the characters.
The issue I am having is trying to format the 4 decimal point columns to be fixed numbers and retain the leading or trailing zeros to do a concatenation with the other columns.
Just an example of some what some of the values look like on my spreadsheet:
.123456 | .123450 | .012345 | .012340
Essentially when I'm all said and done, I would like the row to look like "text123456123450012345012340text"
I tried to format 4 new columns as general and use a "=right(cell,6)" and that worked pretty well for the cells that have leading zeros, but for the cells that have trailing zeros, it doesn't seem to pick up the zero. I tried to use a "=mid(cell,2,6)" but that didn't work either.

Is there a method of formatting specific cells to show zeros? Or indeed I could turn on show zeros in options and then hide the ones I don't want. Any tips / advice on how to selectively display (or hide) zeros appreciated.

I have a table set up that calculates feet and inches. My problem is that if I have an answer like 2'-0 3/8", it suppresses the zero. I tried setting the format up like ##"'" ##"''" ?/? with no luck.

I am doing some calculations via Excel, and I have found that I get different results using a calculator. I know that by formatting the number, I can show as many or as little decimal places as I like in any cell, but can anyone tell me how many decimal places Excel actually uses when it's carrying out calculations? I have a feeling that the Excel results I'm getting might be more accurate than my calculator ones.

Is there a way to format a cell based upon a condition? If the cell value is <1, I want to show two decimal places. If the cell is >1, I want to show zero decimal places. I tried to use the conditional formatting, but there is no option for this.

with the data in the attached sheet, I create several different pivot tables that need show the count of the information in the columns M:DU. My issue is that the data is sent to me from a third party and the columns contain zeros that cause the counts to inflate.
What I would like to be able to do is run a macro that will search out any zeros in M:DU and replace them with a blank cell.
Unfortunately the number of rows increases with every monthly reporting cycle so the macro would need to be able to accommodate for that.

I’ve created a formula for this statistic and I’m happy with the results. Because I’m working with formulas, my only problem is the unwanted zeros. How do I hide zeros that show up automatically (i.e. #3 [blank] and Nov 09-June 10)? I can hide the numbers, but if I enter a zero to one of my future statistics it will not appear and I don’t want that to happen. Is there a way to hide those automatic zeros without affecting my real zeros?

I have a vba macro that takes data from one workbook and pastes it into another workbook. In doing this I have declared a few variables of type single (I only need two decimal precision). However, when I copy the values from the cells on the source workbook and paste them into the target workbook, the numbers end up having 12 decimal places. Ultimately, this extra precision causes my totals to be off by .01 or more after a while. I have tried rounding the number as I pull it off the source workbook into the variable, but that didn't matter. How do I solve this problem? Code for pulling data from source workbook:...

I need to convert a column of numbers currently formatted with 2 decimal places e.g. 112.12 to 4 decimal places (without the decimal point). I need the end result to be 1121200. I've tried a few different suggestions given on the forum previously but can't seem to retain the 4 decimal places that I require.

I have to make a excel document in which I have length and width in feet and inch format.
E.g. 10.01 in which 10 is feet and .01 is inch
I have all the length and width values in the above format. And what I want to do is convert the inch value (10.01) to feet value (.01=.08 feet) .
Just like the calculator here does.. [URL] ........
Like
10.01=10.08
10.02=10.16
10..03=10.25
...and so on...
Here is table of conversions from inches to decimal feet. But I don't know how to get a formula for this in excel...????
Inch Decimal of a Foot
1 inch 0.0833
2 inches 0.167
3 inches 0.250
4 inches 0.333
5 inches 0.417
6 inches 0.500
7 inches 0.583
8 inches 0.667
9 inches 0.750
10 inches 0.833
11 inches 0.917
12 inches 1.000

I am trying to create a unique sample code by putting together the values of other cells that a user will input. It's all working well apart from the last part, where I am trying to include a decimal number. I want the decimal number to appear without the central "." and in a four digit format. e.g. 2.5 would appear as 0250, 14.25 would appear as 1425. This is the formlua I am using currently:
=IF(ISBLANK(B4),"",IF(LEFT(C4,1)="w",(B4&"-"&TEXT(F4,"YYMMDD")&C4&TEXT(G4,"HHMM")),(B4&"-"&TEXT(F4,"YYMMDD")&C4&LEFT(TEXT(H4,"00"),2)&RIGHT(TEXT(H4,"00"),2))))
However, where the value of H4 is 2.5, I am getting a result of 0303 (I've put this part in bold). I have attached a small spreadsheet to aid understanding.

For example, 4.23423423423423 will be 4.33
4.43453453533434 will be 4.66
4.8353453453 will be 5.00
Lets say the number is in cell A1. What formula would do this?

I have an excel 2003 sheet that collects data from Infopath forms. The forms are to record students who have broken school rules, when, where, repercussions etc. One column shows their class and there is a separate column for each rule broken.
I want to create another sheet to show each class down the rows and the columns to show each school rule. Therefore, each cell would show the number of each particular rule broken for each particular class. I have tried to do countif and sumproduct (if on sheet 1, column B the class is KA and on sheet 1, column M, the rule is bullying = how many times this has occurred).

I have a column of data held in column B.
I am required to show the following.
If there is data in the cell then it is to be left. If there is no data in the cell then I would like to show the value 0.
I have tried using a circular reference, using the formula =IF(ISBLANK(B1),0,B1) and other similar formulas but they dont work as the formula overwrites the data in it.
do I need a macro?, or conditional formatting?

I have formatted the cells to be '0000' (showing the leading zero) however when my VBA code runs it copies the cell value into a string but when I stop the code running to check the value the leading zero(s) are gone. I can see they are the same on both worksheets in the correct format. I've tried a few others like integer and long but same same.

I need to count how many times a set of numbers go past zero, ie. change their sign. they almost never hit zero directly, so i cannot just count "0". example below.
0.345
0.678
1.234
2.567
1.4
0.2
-0.34
-0.456
-0.01
0.356
1.890 etc
In this example there would be just 2 sign changes, where the values pass zero (marked red). So i just need a formula that returns the result "2".
I need to do this for about 20,000 rows of data, all in one column
