View 3 RepliesI want to truncate the decimals like below: i.e.
2.22939393 -> 2.229
2.22977777 -> 2.229
3.33477 --> 3.334
1.062578 --->1.062

Is there a way to format a cell based upon a condition? If the cell value is <1, I want to show two decimal places. If the cell is >1, I want to show zero decimal places. I tried to use the conditional formatting, but there is no option for this.
View 3 Replies View Related(1) I want to find the maximun number for the past n periods in a range of cells, but I want to be able to vary n by changing the number of periods in one cell at the top of the sheet, i.e. if i enter 10 in cell A1 the function will return the max number for 10 periods over a certein range, if I change the figure to 20, then the max number for 20 periods will be returned!
(2) I have a column (lets say column c) which will return a number of values if my criteria are met and 0 if not, I want a function in another column which will replace the 0 with the next non 0 figure in column c, the gaps between the non 0 figures can vary. I feel it involves looping in some form, and writing a new function, but I am not sure.
I have a formula that takes various data from a worksheet and places it all into a single row (N2:AY2) using the “=” formula. I then copy this and paste values, then I copy it again to it can be pasted into another application. There is also some various hiding/unhiding that goes on.
Question is, when I paste values it will truncate some numbers. For example if I have $70, it will change it to $7. 11/10 turns into 11/1.
Columns("M:AZ").Select
Range("M2").Activate
Selection.EntireColumn.Hidden = False
Range("N2:AY2").Select

I have a vba macro that takes data from one workbook and pastes it into another workbook. In doing this I have declared a few variables of type single (I only need two decimal precision). However, when I copy the values from the cells on the source workbook and paste them into the target workbook, the numbers end up having 12 decimal places. Ultimately, this extra precision causes my totals to be off by .01 or more after a while. I have tried rounding the number as I pull it off the source workbook into the variable, but that didn't matter. How do I solve this problem? Code for pulling data from source workbook:...
View 2 Replies View RelatedLets say cells A1 to A5 contain these lines of information:
Till 174 (T0215) - till keeps turning itself off.
Till 245 - stuck on windows screen
116 - keyboard is unresponsive
Berkel Scale is constantly beeping
ped not reading cards Till 156
How can I show only the numbers from these cells (i.e. B1 will be 174, B2 will be 245 etc...)? As you can see the number isn't always in the same place, and doesnt always have the same characters either side.
I need a formula to multiply only the decimal number in a cell and not the integer. For example: the number in the cell is 57.3615. I want to multiply .3615 only.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find the right format that will show a variety of account numbers properly.
I have these types of numbers displaying like this right now:
9.04585E+13 (should be 90458524211818)
785656.001 (showing properly)
NRDE1312089 (showing properly)
SCGA 396.00 (showing properly)
The formatting is set to general, which works for all but the top type of account number. I tried setting to a custom format like "#.#######" ...The only problem with that format is that the "." shows up whether there is a decimal in the number or not. What's the way around that?
I have a column of percentages where I only want to show 1 decimal place if the value is less than 1%. The rest of the percentages I want without decimal detail.
I've tried custom formats and cant quiet get it right. Am I close with this?

I have a list of numbers:
21.20151242
28.012224
etc....
I want to round/truncate them as if it were currency and add "/month" to them
so the resulting column would be:
21.20/month
28.01/month
everytime I truncate to two digits and add the text it cuts off the final zero:
21.2/month
how do I do this?
I am doing some calculations via Excel, and I have found that I get different results using a calculator. I know that by formatting the number, I can show as many or as little decimal places as I like in any cell, but can anyone tell me how many decimal places Excel actually uses when it's carrying out calculations? I have a feeling that the Excel results I'm getting might be more accurate than my calculator ones.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwe work with both Lotus 123 and Excel 2003. Lotus will be gone next year, but for now, the official mean to publish our reports is Lotus. With my work, I copy/paste a Lotus page to Excel. I use the following macro to convert Lotus format numbers (which Excel considers as text) to real numbers:
Sub ForceToNumber()
Dim wSheet As Worksheet
For Each wSheet In Worksheets
With wSheet
. Range("IV65536") = vbNullString
.Range("IV65536").Copy
.UsedRange.PasteSpecial xlPasteValues, xlPasteSpecialOperationAdd
End With
Next wSheet
End Sub
Source : http://www.ozgrid.com/forum/showthre...087#post184087. The problem is that I need to send back this data in Lotus. Excel considers decimal numbers with a coma as real numbers and numbers with a dot as a text. This previous macro fixes that. However, Lotus works the other way. Only numbers with a dot are considered real numbers. So I would need to find a way to code a macro that converts any numbers in the Excel sheet to a number with a dot. It's a bit like doing the opposite operation.
I have two tables: the 1st table consists of date range (From and To) and week number while the other table has only dates.
Example:
1st Table
FROM TO WK
3/27/2009 4/2/200914
4/3/2009 4/9/200915
4/10/2009 4/16/200916
4/17/2009 4/23/200917
4/24/2009 4/30/200918
2nd Table
DATE
03/28/2009
04/11/2009
04/26/2009
Need simple formula that would show a wk number in the 2nd table (2nd column)? I.e 03/28/2009 has wk no. 14, etc.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having the same problem as this thread Dynamic Ranges with blank cells.
I've recently been pointed in the direction of dynamic ranges (named ranges that use OFFSET and COUNTA to expand to cover the whole of a list, even if the number of rows used is frequently changed).
They seem to have a big drawback, in that the range will not go to the bottom of the list if the list has blank cells in (because the COUNTA for the column of interest does not equal the number of rows in the list).
A typical named range might look like this:
=OFFSET(Sheet1!$A$2,0,0,COUNTA(Sheet1!$A$2:$A$25),1)
I tried to post in it but it's too old.
I have been to the link posted in that thread about advanced dynamic named ranges but inserting a row with numbers in it and then hiding it is not suitable for me as i deal with other peoples spreadsheets so need to always be working with the Active Sheet.
I have a problem that when I try to convert text to number and format the number without 2 decimal places as seen on the link I have given below, Instead of 1607.947, I get 1607947. I have Excel 2010 loaded. The details are in below picture.

From a list of numbers I would like to delete values that have cents so only those transactions with a .00 amount are displayed
For example
34.95
21.88
21.00
56.00
45.77
Only those valaues ending in .00 will list. I tried filtering but I think there most be a function(s) string that might work or at least filter out the values with cents
How can I drop the whole number part of a number and leaving only the decimal part of the number. Then multiply the decimal part of the number with a number. Then repeat this in a sequence. The object is to convert Lat and Long decimals to Hr. Min. Sec.
eg. 53.535663 .535663*60=32.13978 .13978*60=8 53 32 8
eg. 113.352640 .352640*60=21.1584 .1584*60=9 113 21 9
eg. 113.306579 .306579*60=18.39474 .39474*60=23 113 18 23
I'm trying to count the number of numbers within a given range.
Example Row Y has cells that contain a series of numbers 1,5,9,12,23. No cell in the range should have the same individual number more than once. At the end of row Y I want to know how many numbers, not the total of the numbers are within that range.
Y
1 1,3,5
2 21,32,44
3 12,19,31
..
40 2,4,18
41 total number of numbers in range Y1:Y40 - 12
I need to judge whether a number falls between a range of 2 numbers.
Ex:
A1=332.024 B1=349.956
C1=335.23 So D1 must give 1 (since between the range) else 0.
If C1=332.02 D1=0
If C1=349.9566 D1=0
If C1=332.024 D1=1
If C1=349.956 D1=1
What formula should be punched in D1?
I have a command button that will run paste a value in a specified cell but I also need it to check for the next open cell and paste the data if the previous cell in a specifid rage is already filled with data. Here is my code I have below. *jumps with Joy* My Range is E6 to E10
VB:
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Dim f As Double
Dim t As Double
[Code].....
I need a formula to take a number with several decimal places and round it up to two decimal places to either .33, .66 or, .00 if its above .66.
For example, 4.23423423423423 will be 4.33
4.43453453533434 will be 4.66
4.8353453453 will be 5.00
Lets say the number is in cell A1. What formula would do this?
To keep is simple. in a1:a5 are values 5,10,15,20,25. In c1 value is 13.
Need a formula to look at range a1:a5
And return only the next number higher than 13. Of course it's a3 or 15.
I have a range of cells (D10:D20) with numbers in them. I need cell A10 to look at D10 and return a specific number based on a set of criteria.
The same thing would go for A11:A20 & D11:D20.
If the number in D10 is 1-2 then A10 needs to display 0
If the number in D10 is 3-8 then A10 needs to display 0.1
If the number in D10 is 9-14 then A10 needs to display 0.2
If the number in D10 is 15-20 then A10 needs to display 0.3
Once I have that formula I know that i will just highlight A10 and drag the formula down through A20.
I have a range of values in column A, I wish to add all numbers by all other numbers, i.e for a specific value in the range, I want to add it to all the other values in the range, and output the values in a new range.
For example for values 1,2,3,4 in range A2:A5, I want to output a new range the values;
1+2 =3
1+3 =4
1+4 =5
2+1 =3
2+3 =5
2+4 =6
e.t.c, beginning in range B2. No number can be added to itself.
Is there a way to delete only numbers ending in a decimal from a column of numbers? I have a column of numbers but only the non decimals are relevant to the next equation.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find a way of counting decimal numbers if, say, they begin with 3.
For example, I might have 3.33, 4.1, 3.0, 5.65, 3.8, 3.7, 3.33, etc.
I want to count anything that begins with 3 (3.33, 3.0, etc). Using the data above the answer would be 5 ...5 numbers that begin with a 3.
If this possible?
There doesn't appear to be the facility with Countif. I don't want to truncate the data (the spreadsheet already is quite extensive). I have tried using =SUMPRODUCT((Y$2:Y$170 >=3)*(Y$2:Y$170<=3.9)) but this will return an answer only when there is a complete set of data within cells within the range.
I would have a preliminary data, a number, on sheet1. The final data would be on sheet2.
In the case where there is a whole number as the preliminary data, the data would remain the same as the final output. (eg. 248 --> 248)
In the case where there is a number with a decimal, I need a function where it looks at the original number as two sets of WHOLE numbers. (Eg. 248.30 --> 248 and 30). Where the digits to the left of the decimal remains the same and the digits to the right would be divided by x (in this case, 10). The final output would be 2483 (where 248 is the same and the 30 is divided by 10.
Since I am using an older version of excel, I cannot use quotient. I know that I would be using the vlookup function and perhaps an if function. however, I do not know how to separate the numbers in regards to the decimal.
