Spreadsheet That I Have A Lot Of Macros That Are Attached To A Customized Toolbar Saved In The Same Spreadsheet

Jun 26, 2008

I have a spreadsheet that I have a lot of macros that are attached to a customized toolbar saved in the same spreadsheet. I saved this is a read-only file. When I open as read-only and run my macros (testing), I save it as another file. When I then open the "template" to do the same thing, the toolbar/buttons now reference the file I previously saved as something else. Help please? Is there a macro that would delete all macros before saving the file as something else?

Key Formula (E10 On My Attached Spreadsheet)

Jun 25, 2009

I am trying to set up a cell (E10 on my attached spreadsheet) to act as a key that would collect all of the PO#'s from a seperate column (cells A12:A27 on the attached sheet) and wouldn't repeat any of the repeat PO#'s. I am trying to do this because I currently save each order form by the PO #('s) and at times I find myself typing a long string of PO#'s for the book name. It would be much easier if this key cell would reflect all of the PO's for me and I could just copy and paste the contents into the save as box. This brings up another problem- when I try to copy and paste the contents of the key cell I have now, I just get the formula, not what the formula returned.

Formula In / With Dropdown: Calculate The Average %age In The Attached Spreadsheet

Oct 13, 2009

Need formula to calculate the average %age in the attached spreadsheet. I would like to enter a score between 1 and 4, but with 1 = 10%, 2 = 25%, 3 = 80% and 4 = 100%. The score in the cell must still show as between 1 and 4 but the total must be an average of the relevant %ages. i.e. if scores are recorded as 1, 2, 3, 4, then the total average % will be (10%+25%+80%+100%)/4 = 53.75%. I'm not sure whether this should be in the Validation or in the Total cell.

Making Copies Of Spreadsheet Containing Macros?

Aug 28, 2013

I have created a spreadsheet containing about 30+ macros and then copied it with a new title eg, sheet2013.xlsm (original) and sheet2014.xlsm. My problem is that every time I open the 2014 sheet it re-connects to the macros in the 2013 sheet (if this makes any sense). Is there a way to lock macros to a spreadsheet, ie open both sheets and use the macros within those sheets?

Macros Enabled Spreadsheet With Protection

I would like to be able to password protect each sheet in a workbook and still be able to use the macros/form control (button). Below is the code that I'm using and the code that I've attempted to add to it to protect it.

Current Code:

[Code] ....

Code added for protection but not working:

[Code] ....

I've added this code to both the beginning and the end of my code; however, I'm getting a "400" error when I try to use the form control (button) when the sheet is protected. Is there something that I'm doing incorrectly?

Prevents Macros From Running When Spreadsheet Is Opened?

Mar 14, 2009

I have 3 macros, 2 of them puts formulas in 2 separate cells and the other to turn off file save, file save as and the Save button. Everything was working fine until I password protected the project, now the macros quit loading. I can still run them manually and they work fine, they just don't run when the spreadsheet is loaded. (What I wanted to do was prevent users from seeing the formulas by saving the spreadsheet after the formula was put in the cell and also by looking at the macro). I've unpassword protected the project and took out the macro to prevent the Saves. What do I need to look at to get the macros to run when the spreadsheet is loaded?

Multi-Spreadsheet Formula Down To Populate The Other Cells In The Total Spreadsheet

Jan 4, 2010

I have attached a document paralleling a document I am working on. The dollar amount in each spreadsheet represent sales. I have entered in values into the candy, soda, and chips spreadsheet. I have also linked values for candy into the total spreadsheet. My question is can I somehow type something or drag the formula down to populate the other cells in the total spreadsheet?

The idea I am thinking but which I don't know how to implement is to list all the items (as in column G) and list all of the relevant cells (e.g. B1 in the Candy spreadsheet) as in columns H and I (Note that all items will have the same cells but the cells will have different values...e.g. all three items have a cell B1 and B2 in their spreadsheet but these cells contain different values). I then try and fail to create a formula in cell B3 of the Total spreadsheet. I am trying to create a formula of the following nature:

='(Spreadsheet Name From Column G)'!(Cell Name From Columns H and I)

The Second half of the formula doesn't really concern me (i.e. the cell name from column H and I). However I am perplexed as to how to achieve the goal in the first parentheses above.

Select Data From Spreadsheet Column If Condition In 2nd Spreadsheet At Same Time Is Met

Aug 11, 2013

I have two spreadsheets, one gives me the beginning and end of civil twilight as a measure of day vs. night. The spreadsheet has Date/Time in the first column, and the value 45 in the 2nd column when it is night. The second spreadsheet has also 2 columns with date/time and body temperatures of a squirrel. I want to get basic statistics (mean and standard deviation) of the squirrel's nocturnal body temperature, that is for times when it is night (value 45). The tricky part is that Date/Time of both spreadsheets are different. The procedure has to recognize that the date/time of body temperature lies between the beginning and end of the value 45 blocks of the first spreadsheet.

Often I need to add data from one spreadsheet to the appropriate places on another spreadsheet. For example:

Some of the records in B contain information for the same id#'s as sheet A. I want to add this information together so that a Sheet C will have these fields: id#, name, address, place of employment, GPA, college major, type of degree.

Compare Before Spreadsheet Data To After Spreadsheet

Apr 2, 2014

Wondering if there is an easy way to compare 2 spreadsheets that should have identical data on them? The first spreadsheet (Before) has the output data from 'before' a code fix was applied. The second spreadsheet (After) has the output data from 'after' a code fix was applied. The spreadsheets have 7 columns of data and almost 500 rows.

I've already copied the data from the source datasets provided by my IT folks into Notepad (.txt) files and then used Excel to open them as fixed width spreadsheets. I have 1 workbook with 1 spreadsheet with 'before' data. And, I have 1 workbook with 1 spreadsheet 'after' data. And, I have another workbook that contains both worksheets. So, I'm ready to go whenever I get hints of what to do next. :-)

I need to be able to show my client that we did not impact the data with the code fix that was applied. I want to be able to show my client contacts (business folks) an end result via Excel that confirms that I actually compared the 2 sheets and there were no differences. In other words....I can't just show them a formula with '0' as it end result (even tho that's basically what I'm trying to prove).

Importing Data From Spreadsheet To Spreadsheet

Apr 24, 2006

I need to write a macro that will import data contained in another spreadsheet, but am unsure how to do this. I have several (about 15) spreadsheets that contain data. I need to import key bits of this data into one central spreadsheet that will be used for reporting purposes. I only need 2 cells worth (values) from each source spreadsheet, to be pasted into the destination spreadsheet, into designated cells.

The source spreadsheets are usually closed down and kept on a file server, which my PC has access to. Ideally I want to activate this macro with a control button - i.e. I press the button once and the macro goes off and collects/updates each field with the latest data stored in each of the source spreadsheets.

Email Icon In Spreadsheet As Per Email Icon In Quick Access Toolbar

Aug 20, 2014

I need to send out an order form (spreadsheet) to 100's of people that need to complete the form and email back to me as an attachment. If I was completing the order form myself I would use the "email" icon that I have pinned to my Quick Access Toolbar (QAT). However, most of the recipients don't even know the Toolbar exists.

Is there a way I can insert an icon / hyperlink in the spreadsheet that does the same thing as the QAT icon. I can insert text to say "click here to email your order" (or similar).

I need to keep it in an excel format and an icon is so much better that asking them to save to their hard-drive and attach to an email, etc.

The QAT icon is exactly what is needed but I need to provide a spreadsheet that works for folk who haven't got the icon.

Can't Run Macros Off A Custom Toolbar Anymore

Oct 6, 2009

A couple years ago i made a giant spreadsheet and had 2 custom toolbars to run macros from to manipulate the sheet.

This year i re-did the sheet, meaning all my old data was replaced (it's a giant schedule basically).

However, the Macros in the custom toolbars stayed exactly the same and performed the same function and are directed to the exact same cells, rows, columns, etc..

But now when i hit the buttons on the custom toolbars to run my macros, i get the following message... all the time...

**
A document with the name "NHLsheet.xls" is already open. You cannot open two documents
with the same name, even if the documents are in different folders.
To open the second document, either close the document that's currently open, or rename one of the documents.
**

Trouble is, i have only 1 document open!
There's something in the macros that thinks i'm trying to open a new document but i'm clueless as to where or why.. they are very simple macros
that do not require the opening of any new workbooks..

All they do is point to another sheet within my open workbook, "NHLsheet", copy a particular row from that sheet, and paste it to a specific spot onto another sheet within my workbook, "NHLsheet".

Here is a sample:

The effect i am trying to create is that when the checkbox has a tick in it, certain properties happen to a cell. But when the checkbox has no tick in it something else happens to the cell. I have recorded 2 macros for what i want to happen its just getting it associated with the true/false of the checkbox.

I have no Visual Basic Experience and i have tried reading other posts, but the code just goes right over my head at the moment. Thanks in advance for anyhelp. I can attach the spreadsheet etc...
