Sum Cells That Are Formatted Certain Colour In Excel?

spread sheet that I need to do for work. Unfortunately I do not have excel on my home computer to be able to attach a spread sheet
The spreadsheet has one column (A) with a list of questions. The column next to this (B) has either a red or yellow cell in each row (a red cell would be a high risk to the business if the answer to the question in that row was no, and a yellow cell indicates a moderate risk to the business in the answer to the question in the row was no).
The third column (C) is conditionally formatted so if a 'y' was placed in any of the cells they would turn green. If 'n' is placed in any of the cells the cell would change to either red or yellow (this would depend on what the colour was in column B).
I need to know a formula to count cells by colour. So the number of red, yellow and green cells in column C would be counted automatically into a totals box for each colour at the bottom of the spreadsheet. I have tried some online suggestions but couldn't get these to work for cells that had been conditionally formatted. I'm not the most experienced person with spreadsheets (this time last week I couldn't add two cells together)
The final thing I need from the spreadsheet (and I'm not even sure if this is possible) is for a total box to be colour co-ordinated based on the number of red, yellow and green cells in column C. I would need the total box to be green if all column c is green, yellow if three or less cells in column C are yellow and red if any of the cells in column C are red or there are more than 3 yellow cells in column C.
Is it possible to search Excel by cell colour, i.e. font colour...and then change the said colour to another one?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow to count those that are formatted in RED or bold using Excel 2003 as I know in later versions that is possible but old ones I am unsure how to count them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing 2007, I need to conditionally format a cell colour based on 5 other cell colours that have been conditionally formatted. The 5 other cells will be coloured either red or greem. What I want to do is have an overall status cell that would be show green if all of the other 5 cells were green, amber if 4 of the other cells were green and one was red and red if 3 or more cells are red.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a very basic understanding of excel, I mean BASIC, for my work I have multiple dates for vehicles to go in for inspections. I would like the cells to change colours when within 30 days, 10 days and 5 days. I'm on a work excel 2003.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a lookup that gives and RGB colour code in Cell A1; for example 186, 206, 140.
I'd then like Cells R10:V15 to fill with the RGB colour based on the result in A1.
(Using Excel 2007)
What would be the quickest and most efficient way of doing the following:
Example
Sheet 1: clicking once, twice, three times in the following cells to change the fill to Red, Yellow, Green respectively (in Row 22, COLUMNS E H K N Q T W Z AD AG) and mirrorring this format/fill on:
Sheet 2: , mirror the selected fill on sheet1 in E22, H22 , K22 in in E3:N3 respectively example E22 (sheet1) is mirrored now in E3 (sheet 2); H22 (sheet 1) is mirrored in F3 (sheet2) etc etc.
I have 35 tabs formatted in the same way - each tab, as with Sheet 1 is linked to a different row on sheet 2 in the same range as is sheet 1 and would need to replicate the mirorring on Sheet 1 to each of the other 34 tabs.
i want a cell to change to the colour green if 5 other cells on the page are green colour.
I want a cell to change colour to red if there are 1 or more red cells on the page.
How do I make this work?
Recorded macro. The hope is to insert a excel formatted table a set number of times. I have found a loop code that references a Cell A1 and repeats that amount of times. So if A1= 10. There should be 10 tables inserted. However on the second time there is a fault with the table name. I need the name to change each time the loop is run. ie Table1, Table2, Table3 etc up until the loop stops (A1 contents).
I am using excel for windows 2010. The macro that i have so far is below.
Sub LoopTest()
Dim n
Dim V
Range("A1").Select
V = ActiveCell.Value
[Code] ........
So I have a macro that colors the selected cells in a certain color. Now im looking for a code that will switch that color every 7th cell, the cells will only be selected horizontally. For example:
if the selected range is 10 cells, 7 of them should be in one color and 3 of the should be in another. But if the selected range is 15 cells the first 7 should have one color and the next 7 should have another and then the last one should have the first color again, and so on..
I have roughly 100 HTML files, each containing a single table of formatted data (created with the SAS statistical software package).
I realize that I can open an HTML file with Excel, do what I need (e.g., copy, format, save as an Excel file), but I would like to try to automate the process, if at all possible, even if it's simply open the HTML file and save it as Excel. That would save me quite a few clicks it seems.
Ideally I could pass a directory name to Excel (via VBA) and have a series of "operations" (i.e., save as an Excel file) performed on each HTML file in the directory, ultimately resulting in a corresponding collection of "new" files (in my case, Excel files).
If this was very fancy, I would love to take each HTML file and copy the one table in each, and paste into a separate worksheet in a new Excel file (so 100 HTML files would result in one Excel file with 100 worksheets).
I did try to generate a macro while using the Import External Data "tool", but didn't have luck with that (although I am able to get the tool to work, just not within a macro environment).
I want a cell to be equal to another cell including the colour, conditional formatting as the colour will have no relevance to the cell value i.e. the colour will be set manually dependant on what stage of the lifecycle it is at
The original cell may have a date and be yellow and I want the target cell to be yellow with the same date, if someone then changes the original cell to be red the target cell should automatically change to Red
Is there an easy way to do this or do I need some VB script?
Is there an excel formula to count the formatted cells for each row?

We have a proposal generation tool that we use that is based in Excel, and it works very well indeed. However, we're wanting to add a 'Custom Contract Generator' tab to the spreadsheet, and I'm at a loss with how to build it.
What it needs to do is :
- Allow the end user to select which contract clauses are required for the proposal they are working on, ideally via a range of dropdown boxes.
- Use that selection of clauses via dropdown box to create a compiled, formatted text list made up of those clauses.
- Enter that information into a landscape orientation Excel tab in such a manner as allows for tidy, business-suitable printing.
In short, I want the ability to pick what clauses we want to use, and have Excel generate a custom contract Terms and Conditions page based on my selection. And I've no idea where to start.
I am trying to calculate the difference in time between two cells and if the difference is >= 8 Hours the result is 8 hours - 1 Hour if the result is less than 8 hours then the result stands. I have the following, but it returns 8 always.
The two cells are formatted as hh:mm
H6 = 06:30 & G6 = 14:30
=IF(((H6-G6)>=8),"((H6-G6)-1)","(H6-G6))")
I am trying to write some code that will loop through the workbook (selecting all cells formatted as currency), updating the cell value and rounding to 2 decimal places. The updated price must be rounded as these prices are used in calculations.
The prices are not in a contiguous range and are in different cells on each sheet, but all within the range (“B1:V200”)
I need the user to enter the required increase I,e 1.05 (5%) in Price update sheet, cell “F6”, then run the code from this sheet (which will be the only sheet I do not want to run the code on, which will be the active Sheet)
This is the code I have so far
I don’t know if it will work yet as it errors out (Type mismatch) on this line.
cell = cell.Value * Sheets("PriceUpdate").Range("F6").Value
Sub UpdatePrices2()
For Each Ws In ThisWorkbook.Worksheets
If Ws.Name ActiveSheet.Name Then
For Each cell In Ws.Range("B1:V200")
If cell.NumberFormat = "$#,##0.00" Then
cell = cell.Value * Sheets("PriceUpdate").Range("F6").Value
cell = WorksheetFunction.Round(cell, 2)
End If
Next cell
End If
Next Ws
End Sub
I'm trying to use the SUMCOLOR function found on your website to sum cells which have conditional formatting (background colors with bold writing) applied to them, but it doesn't work.
I'm attaching the code found on the website as a reference.
I read some content on Cpearson but it's way beyond my understanding.

I currently have a spreadsheet that i am using to track invoice pages when I receive them. I have added a conditional format on the worksheet that turns the Date red when each invoice is due and i manually shade each cell grey when the invoice is received, however as i have many invoices due on the spreadsheet its a bit dificult to track all of them... i have been told that a VB code will help. (I am new to this)...
I want to put a Command button on the spreadsheet that will take me to the next cell that has the text highlighted as red and the background color is white i.e not shaded.
I am having a terrible time with Excel today. The version I'm using is Excel 2010.
I just want a simple division formula in a cell, formatted to accounting. This should be really easy, but it isn't reacting the normal way.
The simple division is =13588/12
The output in accounting format should be 1,132.33.
Every time I enter this formula into a cell that is pre-formatted to accounting, the result is 1132 1/3. It also erases my formula and replaces it with the value.
Part of my work involves the transfer of thousands of lines of Excel data into FileMaker and then exporting this data to Word where it is finally formatted for publication. What I'd ideally like is to skip the FileMaker step and simply have it so that I import all the data from my Excel file into a Word document in one swoop. The problem is that the eventual export can't feature tables, it would be the icing on the cake for the data to remain as formatted, and the data needs to read line<space>line<space>, vertically.
Essentially, I need to know how to take this from Excel ..

And turn it into this in Word ...

I have a set of data that has a company name using commas to separate INC and LLC from the company name. e.g. Acme Explosives, LLC
I'm using Excel 2010, and when I try to use the find/replace functionality to find commas, I get an error message saying "We couldn't find what you were looking for. Click Options for more ways to search.
Short of editing all the fields manually (only about 300, so not too bad), I'm hoping there is a simple way to replace these commas with nothing.
pivot table?
Is there a Color Function type vba code that can give me the color integer? I have one that can do that for cells that I've manually colored but I can't find a code that works on conditionally formatted cells.
I am looking to produce a Macro to select conditionally formatted cell's from a worksheet, i got as far as selecting those cell's but i need it to only select cells that have been filled.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a series of conditionally formatted cells which turn the text in them to red if the value is less than 40. This works fine.
Occasionally however a value of less than 40 will need to be entered along with the letter 'v'.
ie. 39v
I'd still like this to be coloured red, but it's obviously coming out as black.
Is there a way to sort this out?
edited to add : Im actually using a separate cell to enter the value 40 (as the value can change).
I am trying to build an if statement to test variables that are in time format and then perform a calculation.
I was able to get an example working if I convert the start times to integers rather than time values. However, the data won't be provided to me as integers.
So, I need a nested if statement (using "and") that will test for two situations using cells in time format or I need to write a macro to convert the time data to integer format. I've been working on the former most of the day and have hit a brick wall.
I'm working with a big dataset and the dates come out in this way:

I am pretty new to VBA and have been wrecking my brain and reading just about every Thread there is on this and still can't figure out why I am not getting the code to work.
I am trying to get data from Column "Sale Price", stored in Table "MasterInventory" on worksheet "Master Inventory" to populate a textbox in a UserForm by means of Vlookup.
Upon running the code below I'm getting Value Error 1004, and during Debug when I hover over "MasterInventory" it shows "MasterInventory=Empty"
Also Im trying to figure out how to do it so I can call the "userform" up from any worksheet and add the entries in the table on worksheet (Jan, Feb, Mar, etc.) for the month depicted in the TextBox "Date" on the Userform
The code looks like this:
Private Sub CBx_PROD_AfterUpdate()
'lookup value in Col F [Sale Price] based on Product (Col A [Description] in Table [MasterInventory])
With TB_SP
If OB_Y.Value = True Then
Me.TB_SP.Value = Application.WorksheetFunction.VLookup(CBx_PROD.Value, MasterInventory, 6, False).Value
End If
If CBx_PROD.Value = "" Then
Exit Sub
End If
End With
End Sub
I know the VBA code to count cells from a data set that were manually colour-coded.
The problem is that the code (pasted below) doesn't seem to pick up cells that were coloured via Conditional Formatting. How do I do this? What is the VBA (if there is one)?
Function COLORCOUNT(varRange As Range, varColor As Range)
Dim cell As Range
For Each cell In varRange
If cell.Interior.ColorIndex = varColor.Interior.ColorIndex Then
COLORCOUNT = COLORCOUNT + 1
End If
Next
End Function
