COUNTIF Of Conditional Formatted Coloured Cells With VBA
Jun 10, 2014
I know the VBA code to count cells from a data set that were manually colour-coded.
The problem is that the code (pasted below) doesn't seem to pick up cells that were coloured via Conditional Formatting. How do I do this? What is the VBA (if there is one)?
Function COLORCOUNT(varRange As Range, varColor As Range)
Dim cell As Range
For Each cell In varRange
If cell.Interior.ColorIndex = varColor.Interior.ColorIndex Then
COLORCOUNT = COLORCOUNT + 1
End If
Next
End Function

I have a workbook (see attached) that has 2 sheets, Work and Holiday. I want to be able to enter a persons initials into the wrksheet 'Work' for each day of the week.
If that person is listed on the holiday sheet for that day as 'A' then the cell in 'Work' is coloured Red, if not then it is coloured Green. I have tried to get this to work using a defined list and various IF statements but all to no avail.

i have a spreadsheet in excel 2007. It shows a students target grade in one column and their recent test mark in another column. Firstly i have applied conditional formatting to say whether or not the student has hit their target, below or above, using red, yellow and green colours. This all works fine.
Now i would like to add a formula that counts the number of cells that are red, yellow or green etc.....

I'm trying to use the SUMCOLOR function found on your website to sum cells which have conditional formatting (background colors with bold writing) applied to them, but it doesn't work.
I'm attaching the code found on the website as a reference.
I read some content on Cpearson but it's way beyond my understanding.
Function SumColor(rColor As Range, rSumRange As Range)
''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
'Written by Ozgrid Business Applications
'www.ozgrid.com
'Sums cells based on a specified fill color.
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
Dim rCell As Range
Dim iCol As Integer
Dim vResult
iCol = rColor.Interior.ColorIndex

I'm attempting something that I feel should be relatively easy using the conditional formatting icon sets (3 arrows coloured)
I have values in columns A and B. I simply want to compare the value in column B against that in A, and format column B accordingly
B > A (green arrow)
B = A (amber arrow)
B < A (red arrow)
The icon set rules only allow for > or >= conditions, and I can't get the desired results using the rules.
A
B
B (with conditional formatting)
1
10
20
Green arrow (increase)
2
20
20
Amber arrow (no change)
3
15
5
Red arrow (decrease)

managed to count cells based on colour, however if the colour is variable due to conditional formatting then the UDF doesnt work. So my next thought is just to copy the colours into another column next to it and then get the UDF to count those colours. however copying just the colours is not as easy as seems. when i use format painter the colour all comes out the same (once again i am presuming this is due to conditional formatting). the macros etc seem to complicated for this is there a simple thing i am missing?

I have a spreadsheet that contains various different coloured cells,
I need to be able to:
1. count the number of cells in a given range that are coloured a certain colour.
2. show the answer of a sum involving the above, i.e in range D1:D:5 the sum of 10 + blue cells, minus yellow cells = 12
eg.
ABCD12345Sum of 10 (plus blue cells minus yellow cells in range D:1 to D:5) should equal 12

Having searched and read lots of posts, but without finding the answer.
Is it possible to creat a macro that toggles a cell between [empty], [x], [o] and [n/a], with the [x] cell having a background colour of green, the [o] cell having a background colour of red and the [n/a] with a background of yellow.
The above cells won't have anyother function as they will be used as indicators in a progress chart.

This code colours the NEXT cell when a certain cell houses a value.
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Dim Rng As Range
For Each Rng In Range("G2:C1417")
If Rng.Value = 6 Then Rng.Offset(1, 0).Interior.Color = vbBlue
Next Rng
End Sub
So in this case if a cell has a value of 6 then the Next cell down is colour coded blue.
Here is my question.Is there a way I could write some code to count the number of newly coloured cells on the sheet and then print the total.This would save me having to go through long sheets counting manually.

I have a table of numbers with conditional formating, formula's are...
=COUNTIF(OFFSET($W3:$AB3,1,0),W3+1)+COUNTIF(OFFSET($W3:$AB3,1,0),W3-1) - color, lemon.
=COUNTIF(OFFSET($W3:$AB3,-1,0),W3+1)+COUNTIF(OFFSET($W3:$AB3,-1,0),W3-1) - color, light blue.
Column AC, I want to count the number of cells that are lemon for each row.
Column AD, I want to count the number of cells that are light blue for each row.
Is it possible?

I ran a very simple code that conditionally formatted red any cell sum greater than 12. The macro worked all the way to the end - about 15k rows. After saving and re-opening file only the first 1603 lines had the formatting and the rest did not. Several attempts end with no change in results.
I did the programming in Office 97 but edited and ran it on Excel 2002.

I have created a Vacation Calendar workbook with 6 sheets. All the sheets contain the 12 month calendar. Each row contains an employee and the columns are the days of the week. I have to keep track of 5 departments. I have 5 supervisors that are on different sheets that need to be included on the 6th sheet. I have set conditional formating to show that when I type "v" in a cell that is will go green. Is there a way to populate this information to another sheet without having to copy and paste?

I have a sheet with colour coded cells and I need a macro that counts the number of rows with coloured cells.
I've tried the following code but I always get a count of 0 which isn't right.
Sub Count_Coloured_Cells()
Sheets("Issues").Select
Dim i, c
Dim LastRow As Long
i = 1
c = 0
LastRow = Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row
Do While i < LastRow + 1
If Rows(1 + i & ":" & 1 + i).Interior.ColorIndex xlNone Then
c = c + 1
End If
i = i + 1
Loop
MsgBox (c)
End Sub
Remember, it's the number of rows I need to count (i.e. one row may have several colour coded cells but I only need to count it once).

I found code online that I can put on my sheet to get my formatting properties to stay the same for the items in my dropdown list located on another page. However the code does not work for conditional formatted cells...which is what I need. This is the code that I have that will carry over regular formatted cells. Just not Conditional formatted cells.

I am trying to calculate the difference in time between two cells and if the difference is >= 8 Hours the result is 8 hours - 1 Hour if the result is less than 8 hours then the result stands. I have the following, but it returns 8 always.
The two cells are formatted as hh:mm
H6 = 06:30 & G6 = 14:30
=IF(((H6-G6)>=8),"((H6-G6)-1)","(H6-G6))")

I am trying to write some code that will loop through the workbook (selecting all cells formatted as currency), updating the cell value and rounding to 2 decimal places. The updated price must be rounded as these prices are used in calculations.
The prices are not in a contiguous range and are in different cells on each sheet, but all within the range (“B1:V200”)
I need the user to enter the required increase I,e 1.05 (5%) in Price update sheet, cell “F6”, then run the code from this sheet (which will be the only sheet I do not want to run the code on, which will be the active Sheet)
This is the code I have so far
I don’t know if it will work yet as it errors out (Type mismatch) on this line.
cell = cell.Value * Sheets("PriceUpdate").Range("F6").Value
Sub UpdatePrices2()
For Each Ws In ThisWorkbook.Worksheets
If Ws.Name ActiveSheet.Name Then
For Each cell In Ws.Range("B1:V200")
If cell.NumberFormat = "$#,##0.00" Then
cell = cell.Value * Sheets("PriceUpdate").Range("F6").Value
cell = WorksheetFunction.Round(cell, 2)
End If
Next cell
End If
Next Ws
End Sub

I currently have a spreadsheet that i am using to track invoice pages when I receive them. I have added a conditional format on the worksheet that turns the Date red when each invoice is due and i manually shade each cell grey when the invoice is received, however as i have many invoices due on the spreadsheet its a bit dificult to track all of them... i have been told that a VB code will help. (I am new to this)...
I want to put a Command button on the spreadsheet that will take me to the next cell that has the text highlighted as red and the background color is white i.e not shaded.

I have a series of conditionally formatted cells which turn the text in them to red if the value is less than 40. This works fine.
Occasionally however a value of less than 40 will need to be entered along with the letter 'v'.
ie. 39v
I'd still like this to be coloured red, but it's obviously coming out as black.
Is there a way to sort this out?
edited to add : Im actually using a separate cell to enter the value 40 (as the value can change).

I am trying to build an if statement to test variables that are in time format and then perform a calculation.
I was able to get an example working if I convert the start times to integers rather than time values. However, the data won't be provided to me as integers.
So, I need a nested if statement (using "and") that will test for two situations using cells in time format or I need to write a macro to convert the time data to integer format. I've been working on the former most of the day and have hit a brick wall.

I am pretty new to VBA and have been wrecking my brain and reading just about every Thread there is on this and still can't figure out why I am not getting the code to work.
I am trying to get data from Column "Sale Price", stored in Table "MasterInventory" on worksheet "Master Inventory" to populate a textbox in a UserForm by means of Vlookup.
Upon running the code below I'm getting Value Error 1004, and during Debug when I hover over "MasterInventory" it shows "MasterInventory=Empty"
Also Im trying to figure out how to do it so I can call the "userform" up from any worksheet and add the entries in the table on worksheet (Jan, Feb, Mar, etc.) for the month depicted in the TextBox "Date" on the Userform
The code looks like this:
Private Sub CBx_PROD_AfterUpdate()
'lookup value in Col F [Sale Price] based on Product (Col A [Description] in Table [MasterInventory])
With TB_SP
If OB_Y.Value = True Then
Me.TB_SP.Value = Application.WorksheetFunction.VLookup(CBx_PROD.Value, MasterInventory, 6, False).Value
End If
If CBx_PROD.Value = "" Then
Exit Sub
End If
End With
End Sub
