Jul 3, 2006I have the same data (but not necessarily on the same cell for everyday) for everyday of the month. Now I need to calculate what is the total for an individual for the whole month. Example,I need to total John's data for the month of January from the individual sheet for Region 1, Region 2 and region 3. I tried the sumif function as below but it does not seem to work. =SUMIF('Jan 1:Jan 3'!B5:B7,"John",'Jan 1:Jan 3'!C5:C7). I have simplified the file as an attachment below.Appreciate need as the original file is for 6 months and I need a way to compute the data.

Oct 25, 2007I am trying to pull cell values similar to a SUMIF function (SUMIF(range,criteria,sum_range)). For example, in A1 I use a data list created from data elsewhere on the spreadsheet. In the data I created elsewhere, there are 2 columns being used. The 1st column is the information that is being used to create the list and the second column contains specific values (number or text). In the dropdown menu I select an available value (text or number) . When I have selected that value I would like cell A2 to show what the cell directly to the right of it shows from the data I have elsewhere in the spreadsheet as mentioned. I have tried the SUMIF function however it seems to exclude certain values (number or text) and I am not sure what else to use.

How do I modify above formula, so for each month, it shows total cost but only for 2009?

Apr 4, 2013I am working in a spreadsheet that contains a bunch of data, it is not limited, and varies. It has some fiels such as: name, date of birth, address, and others. I am interested in creating a column with only the month digit of the date of birth for each row.
I have been working with some code, I am not quite sure how to continue. The following table would be a example that I have of the data, it has only to entry in the column of Date of Birth, but my data range will always vary. I want to get the month and past it in the next cell that is available in this case would be column c or 3... The worksheet name is REP.

May 1, 2006I would like to create a monthly inventory, based on workdays (Monday - Friday)Myrna Larson has a formula that I would like to use with the workday function, but I don't know how to combine them.

to fit on the page, I need the dates to be from the 1st to the 15th, and 16th to the 31st. I am not sure how to write this either.
Converting Month Numbers To Month Names For Pivots
Oct 24, 2011My data sheet has a Month column, and those months are simply numbers one to twelve. They are formatted as plain old numbers. The data is coming from somewhere outside Excel.
How the numbers look in the data sheet doesn't matter. But I use this data to generate pivots, wherein the months are the columns. I want it to say Jan, Feb, etc. across the top of the pivot.
I realize that I could just loop through the raw data and convert the numbers to text. However, I want the pivot table to recognize this data as dates, so that I can do date-related stuff, such as the date grouping described on p. 85 of Jelen's Pivot Table Data Crunching book.
If I go into the raw data and try to convert the cells to the mmm format, they all convert to January.
I'm aware that formatting doesn't translate from raw data to pivot table anyhow. But it's not clear to me how I can use the date field grouping functions without somehow showing Excel that these are dates. Or is the pivot table smart enough to realize that just by the names, even if they are formatted as text?

i've created a spreadsheet with records of what jobs my heavy plant repair company has opened, which contains such data as when the job was if and when the job was closed and the value of the job when it was closed.
now i have to create a summary sheet that totals the values of the closed jobs in a given month. i've included an mock up of the database in question, but i just can't seem to get it to work.

May 30, 2014I'm trying to use the SUMIF function based on a specific month. This month formula has to choose from a range of dates. Currently, the month to report (5) is the only one that works. If I have dates in June and choose 6, it doesn't work.
This is the formula I'm using right now:

I want to say,
if F9 falls between 0 and 137099 dollars, the answer is D2.
If F9 falls between 137,100 and 263,799 then take F9-D3*E3+F3.
If F9 falls between 263,800 and 527,599, then take F9-D4*E4+F4
I tried this, but obviously it didn't work:
=SUM(IF(F9<=137099,52),(IF(F9<=263799,F9-D3*E3+F3),(IF(F9<=527599,F9-D4*E4+F4))))
So if calculated correctly, the answer should come up to 1906.40

Sumif Rolling MTD Numbers
Sep 2, 2009I need to create a Sum of numbers month to date Rolling. Meaning... if I have a expected number for the month, I need to be able to sum the processed numbers for each day up to the current day excluding any day after the current day.
So the formula would need to sumif the total month numbers UP TO the current day and compare that against the processed UP TO the current day.

Macro For A Sumif Function?

I want to some all the Totals that appear before the "End Notification" text. I have more totals after that text and the number of rows are variable.
In my data, I have always 4 totals before that text, so I thought perhaps that the way to do this would be to impose to the sumif function to stop summing after counting 4 totals. I didn't find a way to do that.
I thought a little more on the problem and I find out that the easy way would be to record a macro with the sum if function, where, in the range part, I would do a Find for "End Notification"; and select all the cells to the top of the sheet. The problem is that the macro dont record that part, only the row number.I think I need to turn the range a variable, where the variable is equal to the find selection.
Dynamic Sumif Function
Jun 3, 2009I'm trying to create a sumif formula that finds the column the information is in that it needs to sum. I have attached a copy of the file I'm trying to create a formula to get results that I want.
Generally you would normally use the "=SUMIF(range,criteria,sumrange)". I was wondering if there was a formula I can substitute "sumrange" to also search a range of data (Eg: "G16:DA28"). I need the range to be dynamic as the column to be sum can change based on the criteria/option button being selected from the product category. I assume there is an indirect function involved, but I am not familiar with it. If you have a better and less complicated formula please suggest.

Jul 2, 2014I was wondering if there was a way to use sumif and offset to guide the summing column in the example below. Perhaps I need to add an additional column, then formulate a solution. I want to sum the daily returns for the TSX when the slope is positive (green), and sum the S&P when it is negative. Currently, on signal day, I am summing that day's return, which I don't want to do. I want to sum starting on the next day (blue). The B column switches back and forth from positive to negative, so I will summing different data periods going back 1000 days. I am summing the TSX returns and S&P returns seperately to make it easier. Currently I have in C1=(sumif(b2:b1000,">0",c2:c1000)) Same for D2.

Double SUMIF Function
Sep 1, 2006I was wondering if it is possible to have a double sumif. For example asssuming you have a table with three columns:
Col 1 (far left) is called Name
Col 2 (middle) is called date
Col 3 (far right) is called values
Now assuming that column 1 contains 4 different names, each repeated for each date in column 2. In turns the dates are repeated for each names (see below example)

Column 3 contains random values.

I'm trying to create a sumif or sumifs function that will add numbers from two columns. I've attached an example (semi populated as needed to get rid of some personal data so ignore the ref notes). On the Category Worksheet I'm trying to get column D to sum info from the March Worksheet. I would like the function in the Category Sheet to add Columns F and Columns H from the March Worksheet if they correspond to column A22 on the Category Worksheet i.e, the result of the data I've left on this example sheet should be $20....... sum of F = -130 + sum of H = 110
