In Excel sheet1 Column G has Names(John,Augutus,Jennie ect..) In Coulmn H i need to daily update the Present or Absent status, once i update the status i need Coulmn I to automatically fetch the System name and Column J should update with Time and date..
Now I want to make a horizontal bar, that divides the bar into a 24-hour period (e.g. gray background) and fills the gaps that the system is in use with green parts, so in this example, the whole bar is gray and the part from 03:00am-03:10am+04:00am-04:20am+09:00am-09:04am + 01:00pm-02:05pm is filled in with green.
I have a list with about 300 of those jobs, so it would be nice if I could automate this. How to do this in Excel/VBA ?
I want to enter a number in cell, select a value from a drop-down list, and have another sheet updated with that info. For example, on sheet1 cell A1 = $900, A2 = Western Region (drop-down list). Sheet2 would have a list of values that would update based on values entered in sheet1:A1 and sheet1:A2. Is this possible using formulas or do I need to use VBA?
Below is a formula that links other worksheets from other workbooks to cell B4. If I copied this to another computer system in My Documents that is named other than Tom would the links get updated to that system. If not is there a macro that can handle this to be updated to another computer system.

I'm trying to use IF and AND functions to create a basic input-output system. The problem I have (more details below) is the 64 limit when the potential inputs could be infinite.
For values entered into a cell between 1 and 10, this should produce an output of 0.00 in another A value higher than 10 should output as 1.00, and from then an extra 1.00 is added for every '10' added. There is no limit on the input ie 1 = 0.00, 11 = 1.00, 29 = 2.00 and so on.
if there is a simple way to get the GMT equivalent in vba code. I am being a date/timestamp but realized that timezone differences may complicate matters, therefore I would like to "standardize" the timestamps into their GMT equivalent rather then using the computer's local time. I had been using
Does anyone know how to make a form control (ex combobox, textbox) have multiple columns so that it would behave like 4 controls in one. What im going for is a control that looks like the control used when setting windows system time "12:30:00 AM" So "12" is in col 1, ":" is in col 2, "30" is in col 3, ":" is in col 4, "00" is in col 5, and "AM" is in col 6.
I have created a break tracker where i have to key in time manually. What i want is to click the desired label field and there will a button next to it which will deliver system time on that particular field while i will click on it. And i also want a working button for date as well. 2 separate button 1 for time and 1 for date.
I am currently using Excel 2007 and I am looking for an easier way to enter the system date and time into a cell. I am aware of the MS-Excel shortcuts but work in an environment where data capturers still often get it wrong.
Is it possible to use a Excel function/button to auto insert the system date and time by clicking on a cell/button or Alternatively use a calendar to do so.
I’m trying to program a specific label within a userform to continuously display the system time… I’ve tried to code something that loops while the userform.visibile property is true. This obviously just hangs the system… Is there an easier (or any other way) to do this?
when i input the arrival time of A Car, the time he arrives late appears in column D it should read 15 Minutes. how i can get this time to appear automatic after i have registered the arrival time. A Car due at 19:00 arrived at 19:15. 15minutes late. I would be grateful if you could lead me in the right direction.............
I've been tasked with creating an updated booking system for a company which offers projects / services to the educational sector (UK Primary Schools.) I've done an alright job at augmenting their current Excel based system, but I would like to take it further so that the system is more all encompassing.
Currently, the booking form is filled in when a booking is made and the data from that is populated into their copy of the contract and our copy of the contract using simple "=" and to a certain extent, the text on the contracts is manipulated based on the booking form data using "IF" functions.
There is a basic macro which removes excess lines from the contracts if they aren't used, but that's about it. The difficulty we're having with the current system is that a lot of our projects are bespoke, happen over more than one date, and require a lot of manual manipulation in order to get them ready, which sort of defeats the object of having a 'clever' booking system.
I don't know very much about VB, but the sort of thing I would be looking to integrate is having drop down lists to select a 'project' which would load project-specific text into the contracts area. Also, instead of having to remove lines manually, I would like the data to be 'dropped in' creating rows as appropriate.
I have a cell (H2) that contains the formula =NOW(). I would like this cell's time to be updated every minute automatically, with a Macro that will start itself the moment the spreadsheet is opened. I have attempted to find other users with the same question and have attempted to use Macro's supplied however without success. I have previously found this piece of ...
Im trying to make an excel sheet as quick and easy to update as possible.
Is there anyway to add an option ( formulated button,cell etc etc) that can update the current date and time in a desired cell with just the click of a mouse?
This is for comunication as to when the info/count has been updated in the sheet.
Sub ScheduleUpdate() WaitHours = 0 WaitMin = 15 WaitSec = 0 NextTime = Now + TimeSerial(WaitHours, WaitMin, WaitSec) Application.OnTime EarliestTime:=NextTime, Procedure:=LinkUpdates() Application.Run End Sub
Sub LinkUpdates() Sheets("PRICING SHEET").Select Sheets("PRICING SHEET").UpdateLink Name:="P:CommonPRICINGCOMPILATION.xls", Type:= xlExcelLinks End Sub The code does not work at all, just the skeleton to have an idea. I also need help recreating an entirely new macro which preferably works well! The idea is that everyday at 8:00AM this macro starts automatically updating the links every 15 mins (SHOULD NOT MATTER IF THE SHEET IS OPEN OR NOT). But here is the catch. This code should be the code for a checkbox. So when the box is checked, or TRUE, the macro should run normally updating every 15 mins. But when the box is unchecked, the macro should stop (no update occurring). I want this macro because this sheet is linked to several other sheets and it needs constant updating. However, if I need to make a change in the main sheet, no updates should be happening.
Sub unprotectEm() ActiveSheet. Unprotect Password:="shreked" ActiveWorkbook.UpdateLink Name:="R:SHAREDPASSACCEXCELPASSACCCONTROL.XLS" _ , Type:=xlExcelLinks ActiveSheet.Protect Password:="shreked" End Sub
Private Sub Workbook_Open() If ThisWorkbook.ReadOnly = True Then MsgBox "READ ONLY YOUVE BEEN WARNED" End Sub
It works fine until its been opened as "read only". What I mean is I open the file and the read only msg box comes up no prob. When the file avail for editing again I open the file and its not updating the control list.
I am running excel 2003. I am creating a book that needs date & time input on every row. I am trying to input this automatically based on adjacent cell being >0. Every time there is a new input, the previous dates / times update to the latest one.
I have a sticky problem. I have a spreadsheet set up that counts almost everything I do at work, and I would like to input the exact time I receive a call and have the spreadsheet break it down into time periods, e.g., 8-10, 10-12, 12-2, etc., to count what time of day I get most of my calls and sales. In other words, I want the sheet to read the time I input and count it as part of a specific time period, and then count the number of calls taken and sales made from those calls. I can easily compute my closing percentage when I get those numbers. Also, since I have all the days of the month on the same spreadsheet, would it be possible to break them down by day (range)?
I can see where knowing how to do this could come in handy for other projects as well.
no VBA. I play with it at home, but I also struggle with it mightily.
I am making a template for our security kiosk log and I wanted to simplify it as much as possible. I found the "time mask entry" and imputed that into the vba code. It was working for awhile however stopped working a few days ago. I went back and copied and pasted it again and changed the range to what I needed and an error came up stating "unable to set the NumberFormat property to the range class."
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Dim vVal If Target.Cells.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub If Intersect(Target, Range("A1:A100")) Is Nothing Then Exit Sub
With Target
vVal = Format(.Value, "0000") If IsNumeric(vVal) And Len(vVal) = 4 Then Application.EnableEvents = False .Value = Left(vVal, 2) & ":" & Right(vVal, 2) .NumberFormat = "[h]:mm" End If End With
