I created a new workbook that contains a list of additional design requirements than our old checklist. These requirements are answered by placing a 1, 0 or .5 in the cell next to the requirement (1 = yes, 0 = no and .5 for half credit). I can't simply go to the old workbook/worksheet and copy the results into the new workbook/worksheet as the rows of requirements don't match up since some requirmements have been deleted and new ones added between the old and new checklists.
I created a command button in the new checklist and what I want it to do is:
- open a dialog box that lets me select the old checklist file (these are all excel files, but with different names).
- go the the proper worksheet in the old file (DFT Checklist) and copy a column of results from the old checklist ("DFT Checklist" worksheet) and paste them into the proper cells of the new checklist ("DFT Checklist" worksheet).
- The macro would know (i'll have to tell it) which requirements and cells are still valid answers between the old checklist and the new one. It would disregard requirements that are no longer in the new checklist.
- Once complete, it would close the old checklist without saving.

I am trying to create a macro that will look in Column B for the word "RPLCASE." Whenever "RPLCASE" appears in Column B, the cells in that particular row will move over (Right) one space. I am simply trying to align the data from a file that I FTP'd from Net Term to Excel. You can see how the data should look in the 2nd example.

What I want to know: Is is possible to have information from one spreadsheet move specific data to another spreadsheet in the same workbook?
for example: I have hundreds of listings of tool measurements.
Date Tool type Measurements
What I want to do is have all the different types of tools and the information from the above line seperated into other spreadsheets. I do not want to sort this information and manually move it I want a formula that will move each applicable tool into that sub sheet. I have tried to use if statements but find that it creates subsheets with the correct tool types but has the spaces in between the parts. how do I eliminate the spaces?

I am looking to use the formula's to determine if the contents of a cell, match or meet a given formula.
In this case, 3 alpha + 3 numeric, e.g. ABC123.
I would want it to return a TRUE or FALSE.
I've done it the long way by tearing apart into the 1st through 6th characters, but would enjoy a more succinct method.

I would like to use conditional formatting verify that the lines of data being pulled from my application into Excel, but totaled using "=sum" are equal to totals pulled directly from my application. I believe that I should be able to use conditional formatting but am not sure how to make the formula work correctly.
To illustrate my problem: I have cells A1 (a total of a range), A2 (also a total of a range) and A3 (total of data pulled directly into my Excel report). In cell A3 I would like to verify that lines A1 + A2 - A3 = 0. This I can do without any problem, but there is rounding involved. The total of the above formula should be between -1 and 1 and still show as correct. I want the number in A3 to show up in red/bold when incorrect.

What im trying to do is have a macro that will open a file called Blue 1.xls in location "I:SchedulesBlue" and then copy data from cells N13:034. Then paste it into another excel file (Press.xls)on worksheet "Press Break" cell G14.
The data that is copied not always fills up the cells N13:O34 so I need it to go to the next blank cell in column N and paste the information from file Blue 2, and so on for Yellow 1, Yellow 2, YellNR, and Green.
So to summarise I need a macro to open 6 files copy data from the same location on each of the files(N13:O34) then close and paste it into a master document(Press.xls) worksheet "Press Break".

I am having the same problem as this thread Dynamic Ranges with blank cells.
I've recently been pointed in the direction of dynamic ranges (named ranges that use OFFSET and COUNTA to expand to cover the whole of a list, even if the number of rows used is frequently changed).
They seem to have a big drawback, in that the range will not go to the bottom of the list if the list has blank cells in (because the COUNTA for the column of interest does not equal the number of rows in the list).
A typical named range might look like this:
=OFFSET(Sheet1!$A$2,0,0,COUNTA(Sheet1!$A$2:$A$25),1)
I tried to post in it but it's too old.
I have been to the link posted in that thread about advanced dynamic named ranges but inserting a row with numbers in it and then hiding it is not suitable for me as i deal with other peoples spreadsheets so need to always be working with the Active Sheet.

Is there other syntax that can be used other than:
Range("A23").Select?
I'm trying to move to any cell below some text. So, it will find "Total" and move the cell below.
Also, is there any way to specify to select cells without specifying the actual cell name?

(1) I want to find the maximun number for the past n periods in a range of cells, but I want to be able to vary n by changing the number of periods in one cell at the top of the sheet, i.e. if i enter 10 in cell A1 the function will return the max number for 10 periods over a certein range, if I change the figure to 20, then the max number for 20 periods will be returned!
(2) I have a column (lets say column c) which will return a number of values if my criteria are met and 0 if not, I want a function in another column which will replace the 0 with the next non 0 figure in column c, the gaps between the non 0 figures can vary. I feel it involves looping in some form, and writing a new function, but I am not sure.

I've been trying to figure out how to use a formula that would enable me to copy/copy & move a range of cells right one column if a certain criteria is met.
Basically, if a criteria is met, I want to 'copy' everything from a row to another row, but offset it by one column (so that what was in, let's say, a1 would be in b2).
I've been tinkering with index(), if() and offset() in various combinations but think I must be missing something.

how to move formula range without inserting any rows. For example, I have a sum(a1:a3) and I need to have sum(a2:a4). I have hundreds of these little formulas through the spreadsheet and they are driving me crazy. Is there any way I can select a block of data and have a macro simply shift all formula ranges within that block one down? Copying the formulas down and then moving the result in place of the original doesn't work as I have formulas relying on these results and I will get #REF errors. I bought an Excel VBA for dummies, but have been so swamped with work that I haven't had a chance to look at it, or even to think about where I would begin to look.

I have an excel file that contains data from bank transactions.
In column A at irregular intervals is a cell with " User Group:" It depends on how many transactions there are in a batch, could be 1 or up to say 200 as to when the next "User Group" cell is found.
After that also in column A is "Item" then "Lodgement Ref" then at the end "Batch Totals"
i.e.
User Group:
Item
Lodgement Ref
Batch Totals:
User Group:
Item
Lodgement Ref
Lodgement Ref
Lodgement Ref
Batch Totals:
I want to find each instance of "Item" then move that cell and every cell over to column CK down to and including "Batch Totals" i.e. A3401 to CK3410 to CM 3400 so it lines up with the top of the transaction block.
There are over 60,000 lines so it's worth trying to find a solution as I can then use the methodology to make other refinements in the spreadsheet.

VBA to find the next appropriate blank cell in column "A" when copying ranges of varying sizes and pasting them in a new worksheet one after the next.
Currently I have recorded a macro that uses the code below to get to this location, but I am worried this will break when I get new data of a different range size;
Range(Selection, ActiveCell.SpecialCells(xlLastCell)).Select 'my initial range selection
Selection.Copy
Windows("myfile.csv").Activate
ActiveSheet.Paste
ActiveCell.SpecialCells(xlLastCell).Select 'finds last cell of my paste
Range("N69").Select 'I hit the down arrow once to get to new blank row
Selection.End(xlToLeft).Select 'to go to begining/col A of new row for next paste
I have tried playing around with
ActiveCell.Next
but can't get it to work.

I have 400 source files containing (among others) 8 sheets with daily results: "Fri 23", "Mon 26", "Tue 27", "Wed 28", "Thu 29", "Fri 30", "Sat 31 (if applicable)", "Mon 2".
Each sheet contains also:
State - D1
Role - D2
Staff ID - D3
Date - D4
Activity group name in column A (starting from row 8)
Activity type in column B (merged with C and D) (starting from row 8)
Activity time in columns E:GV (starting from row 8). Usually, there is none or only one value in whole range (e.g. E8:GV8). But sometimes there are two values.
Customer ID in row 6 (value appears only if time was reported in E:GV range)
CC Number in row 7 (value appears only if time was reported in E:GV range)
It's all about transferring values from all daily sheets in all files (.xls) sitting in folder C:WADFinal to one simple table (WAD_Consolidation_file.xls, sheet "Consolidated") consisted of 9 columns: Staff ID, Role, State, Date, Activity Group, Activity Type, Minutes, Customer ID, CC Number.
Additional note if two values exist in the same row they should be copied as two separate entries to consolidation file.

Need to move data from 14 sheets (1 pay period=14 days)(2 showing on attachment for example purposes) to time cards for each person (number of employees will vary).
Key data to move to the time card is the date of the hours, #Reg Hours, #OT hours, the ticket# and job# for those hours.(ie Chris Adams Aug 15, need Chris's Reg and OT hours (8 Reg and 2 OT) on his time sheet, and the corresponding ticket number and job number (in this case from I1, I2).
Unknown number of ticket/job numbers, but the pattern of cell entries will remain the same along the top of the date sheets.(starting at I1, then L1, O1, the next would be R1)
Unknown number of employees but they will continue filling down where the names are on the date sheets (column A). Each employee would have a time card sheet as well.
