Turn Numbers And Cells A Specific Color Automatically?
Nov 18, 2013
Is there a way for me to enter numbers in my cells and have them a specific color? I want all my odd numbers to be bold red with a yellow highlighted cell, my even Numbers to be green with a gray color cell.
I want it to look like this 7 and 8. I can not seem to find anything to show the high light but basically the red 7 will be in a yellow box and the green in a light gray. I will be entering rows and rows of anywhere from 4 to 8 digits
I am trying to work with conditional formatting to turn a field a specific color based on two conditions, one of which is variable. The first condition is a list of ongoing events (which can change) and the second condition is a set of known milestones. I want to create a control (check boxes?) that will turn a given field (which has dates in it from another calculation) to either Red, Yellow, or Green.
I was thinking two Dropdown boxes - one for the events and one for the milestones. The user would choose an event, choose the milestone, then choose a checkbox or something to change the color of a field elsewhere in the spreadsheet. Right now, I'm doing this in a very clumsy way by having three checkboxes for each milestone for each event. There are five milestones per event (so 15 checkboxes per event on Sheet2). I will likely have 70+ events so I was hoping for a better way to do this. I've done this for the first three events and need a more efficient way of doing this.
See the attachment : Event Milestones based on Go Date Uploadable.xlsx
Here is what i am trying to achieve. If the date 2/20/2010 is located at F53 & the cell next to it at H53 is populated with a number between 1 & 16, then i want the cell at J11 (42 rows further up) to auto populate with the number 1. When this occurs the cells beneath this, from J12 to J52 should also auto populate with the with consecutive numbers from 2 to 42. Would also like to see the cells with numbers 1 to 28, automatically format to orange & the cells containing numbers 29 to 42 automatically format to yellow. I plan to have this condition repeat several times later in the year, at dates that are to be decided. When these dates are decided i want to be able to enter a number from 1 to 16 & next to the date & all of the above automatically occurs.
I have this scenario which i need to automate it. I have 5 colums P1,P2,P3,P4,P5. It contains W or L combinations.
In my Column F i Concatenate(A2,B2,C2,D2) together and it follows on for the rest.
Now i have some criteria which i am going to search in my Column G. In Cell I1 i will list my combination to search. It can be as follows :
WWWW LLLL WWW LLL
So what i need to do is search my F column for this possible match. If it is a match I need to color the my Player 1 to Player 5 for that match. I have shown in my example inside the excel. I know the formula for how to find for matches using my combination. But i got no idea on how i can color it with the respective colors automatically.
Yellow = all four W Red= all four L Green= will have 3 W and one L Blue = have three L and one W
I am using Excel 2010 and basically i am trying to fill a range of cell with a green color if any value was enter in a specific cells. Example: I would like to fill range: A10:c13 with a green color (regardless of the cells content in this range) if a value was entered in cell C10 or C11 or C12 or C13.
I've tried conditional formatting but unfortunately I'll have to apply formatting for every cell and for a range of over hundred cells is not efficient.
I have been given a spreadsheet that turns whole rows different colours when certain data is entered into a cell. I want to locate the code and use it elsewhere, but cant find it?
I have looked at all of the change related procedures in the drop downs, for the Workbook e.g.
Workbook_SheetChange
but no matter where I cant seem to find any code at all.
Is there a way of exporting every line of code and then open this file in notepad to skim through it?
how I might find the code that is making the rows turn different colours?
I have a similar question regarding coloring of empty cells between two cells with specific numbers as posted in below thread : [URL] .....
This is exactly what I want. But here I have some problem with formula.
=COUNTIF(A1:Z1,1)=1
Above formula could pick cell value 1 and color the empty cells in a row between the cells having value=1. But if I want to use the same formatting for other numbers like 2 or 3 it doesn't work.
For example in row(A1:Z1) I have A1=1, D1=1, and F1=2, K1=2, and O1=3, U1=3
I required multiple conditional formatting that could color the cells based on values first from A to D then from F to K and finally from O to U.
I'm using above formatting it works with cells having values 1 but its not working for 2, 3 or any other cells values.
I have already tried replacing 1 in above formula with 2 and 3 but it doesn't work.
How to be able to count cells with a specific color (green) and a specific value (8210) for example the sum of the info I am needing below should be 2 even though there are technically 3 - 8210 cells.
i would like to be able to fill color numerous rows of cells that have a number in one of the columns that is either above a certain number or below a certain number.
example 3-Nov 5 H 5-Nov -3 V 6-Nov 4 V 9-Nov 12 V 10-Nov -1 H
in this example i want to fill color any row that in column 2 has a number less than -1 and greater than 4.
how to do basic formulas in Excel but I are hoping that there is a macro or a VBA or something that can be made which might work for what i need.
I have decided to start a small tour shop (I make the reservations for guests with a hotel in the area and take them on tours of our region) and are looking to make a booking sheet for each month. Nothing complicated just simple. see the attached .xlsx file.
I was wondering if there is a way that when the fields in column A & B are filled in if it could automatically color the corresponding dates in for the same row in the calendar area? like I have manually done on sheet "October 2013"
I'm looking for a way to make a cell copy the fill color from an adjacent cell.
in my case, cell A1 is a dropdown menu cell, where each option has a different fill color (through conditional formatting). what i want is to make cell B1 copy the fill color from cell A1 automatically. it may be important the both cells have dropdown menus.
If I have cells in my worksheet filled with yellow color, is it possible to count them based only on this criterion (fill color). They might or might not be in the same column.
I need to count the grey coloured cells in a column based on the value in a different column (Column I has the team that the person is in). I already have a code from a previous thread to count the coloured cells (below) but this doesn't work when using an array formula. I have also tried just selecting the cells I need it to count (the people within the specific team), but the formula doesn't work unless the range uses adjacent cells...
I have a spreadsheet with 12 coloums. In the last coloum are the ords "yes", "no", or is empty (null?). I need to find a way to have each row that contains the word "no" or is empty to be highlighted in red font and bold type. When the word "yes" is typed then the font is black and the type in normal. This allows me to see at a glance what orders have not been picked up or have problems.
1. Search workbook for a specific values and then to color that cell with a corresponding color.
2. Search workbook for a specific values and then color other cells underneath (the next 3 merged rows after the cell containing the value) with a corresponding color.
I want to color the cells for some specific texts in RED, and some in BLUE and some in GREEN.
For Eg: I want to color the cells in RED, which contains below specific texts in a sheet. UNIX LINUX MS OFFICE POWER POINT....like this for nearly 100 specific texts.
and I want to color the cells in BLUE, which contains below texts in a sheet. JAVA .NET SQL MSDOS....like this for nearly 100 more specific texts.
If i create a rule in conditional formatting for each text,I have to create nearly 400+ rules for my task now, which is not possible.
I have an excel spreadsheet with a column for hyperlinks. Any information added into that column needs to be a hyperlink. How can I format the entire column so that when a user cuts and pastes the text will automatically turn into a hyperlink?
Is it possible to have a column count up if two other cells meet criteria?
What I would like to happen (if it is even possible) is, if cell B1 equals CO and C1 is a duplicate, then G1 enters #1 for the first time it is duplicated, #2 for the 2nd time it is duplicated, etc.
Is this even capable of happening.
I am attaching my spreadsheet (TAB "AG Orders"). I filtered the spreadsheet so you can see an example of what I am looking for. I manually typed in column G but I was hoping these numbers could automatically populate.13-14 budget-AG test.xlsm
Im using Excel 2007 and have a table of 3 colums: Each row gives a colours RGB values in numbers from 1 to 255. I would like the 4th row to display the color based upon the numbers in the first cells.
In my Excel 2003 worksheet, I need the row color to automatically change to blue (color 5) (bgcolor = #0000FF) - when the user changes the text from VALID to INVALID in the range: B3:B65000.
For example:
Cell B5 contains the text: VALID
When the user changes the text in the field to read: INVALID - then I need the row range: A5:W5 to change to the color blue.
I have a VBA method that goes thru and calculates a bunch of stuff and puts this calculated info into a static data structure. This method is called 'setProjectInfo()'. This method is reliant on values on my worksheets, So as the user makes changes to the worksheet, I want setProjectInfo() to get called so it refreshes the data structure with updated information. I then have a bunch of helper methods to access different parts of this data structure. These helper methods are used in the formulae of a bunch of cells on a worksheet (ie '=getPercentComplete(period)', etc, etc).
This is all working well except for one thing. Sometimes the helper methods get called BEFORE setProjectInfo() gets called.. So, the helper methods return stale information. I can only get around this by manually recalculating the spreadsheet again. setProjectInfo() does enough stuff and takes a long enough time that I don't want to have to call it at the top of each helper method.
I've put the call to setProjectInfo() in a cell formula at the top of the my spreadsheet in hopes that Excel would know enough to call it first.. But that does not seem to work. Net, how can I get VBA to always call setProjectInfo() BEFORE it calls any other VBA methods?
I'm trying to build a function, but I haven't been able to successfully navigate some of the eccentricities of Excel formula-building.
Right now I am working on counting all of the cells that contain numbers (so likely just a =COUNT function), but will be eventually getting other descriptive stats as well. My problem is that I would like to create a formula that will perform the counting/mean calculation, etc., but only on a specific column that has the header cell that contains several specific words. Rather than having to type in the target words for each column, I would like to have the target words in the function be imported from multiple designated cells.
For example,
I want to find how many numbered cells are found in column E headed as "dog brown," but I also have columns headed as "cat brown" "dog black" etc. (which I will be using the formula on later) to paint a small picture, in my descriptive table, "dog" is in B31 and "brown" is in C30, then "cat" in B32 and "black" in D30.
