I need to count the grey coloured cells in a column based on the value in a different column (Column I has the team that the person is in). I already have a code from a previous thread to count the coloured cells (below) but this doesn't work when using an array formula. I have also tried just selecting the cells I need it to count (the people within the specific team), but the formula doesn't work unless the range uses adjacent cells...
How to be able to count cells with a specific color (green) and a specific value (8210) for example the sum of the info I am needing below should be 2 even though there are technically 3 - 8210 cells.
If I have cells in my worksheet filled with yellow color, is it possible to count them based only on this criterion (fill color). They might or might not be in the same column.
I have just set up a conditional format to change the colour of my cells in column F based on a yes or no value in column E. I have a colour function formula working to sum the totals of the cells coloured the 2 different colours seperately. Since applying the conditional format. the formula for colourfunction will only total 0. Is there a way i can apply the colourfunction formula to cells coloured by using conditional formatting
I know how to set a conditional for a cell to change a color when i apply a specific value, but how about if i want to set E2 cell to change to green when i place a 'X' on F2?
Pretty much I want 2 columns that say Yes and the Other No. When i place a X on Yes that other cell turns green, if i place a X on No that other cell turns red.
I am trying to work with conditional formatting to turn a field a specific color based on two conditions, one of which is variable. The first condition is a list of ongoing events (which can change) and the second condition is a set of known milestones. I want to create a control (check boxes?) that will turn a given field (which has dates in it from another calculation) to either Red, Yellow, or Green.
I was thinking two Dropdown boxes - one for the events and one for the milestones. The user would choose an event, choose the milestone, then choose a checkbox or something to change the color of a field elsewhere in the spreadsheet. Right now, I'm doing this in a very clumsy way by having three checkboxes for each milestone for each event. There are five milestones per event (so 15 checkboxes per event on Sheet2). I will likely have 70+ events so I was hoping for a better way to do this. I've done this for the first three events and need a more efficient way of doing this.

I have attached a copy of my "budget". What i need is whenever you choose a option in A9 on PayCheck - DEC - 09 - B it will count the number of items on the right and hightlight them with a color. I use =COUNTIF('PayCheck - DEC-09-B'!E$2:E$1000,A9) in A11 to tell me the number of occurences but I would also like a visual effect with colors.
My specification is: Calculate how many people within the UK live in a given area. Within that area what are the different age distributions (0-5 years old, 6-10 years, etc.) Then display the data twice - 1/ show each age range and how many people in the given area fall into each one. 2/ As before only report on people in the given area, and display age range, but also display them by ID number (col E in example file).
Can someone help me build the pivot tables that performs my analysis? (I got it working with countifs but it was an inelegant longwinded kludge.)

I am using Excel 2010 and basically i am trying to fill a range of cell with a green color if any value was enter in a specific cells. Example: I would like to fill range: A10:c13 with a green color (regardless of the cells content in this range) if a value was entered in cell C10 or C11 or C12 or C13.
I've tried conditional formatting but unfortunately I'll have to apply formatting for every cell and for a range of over hundred cells is not efficient.

This is exactly what I want. But here I have some problem with formula.
=COUNTIF(A1:Z1,1)=1
Above formula could pick cell value 1 and color the empty cells in a row between the cells having value=1. But if I want to use the same formatting for other numbers like 2 or 3 it doesn't work.
For example in row(A1:Z1) I have A1=1, D1=1, and F1=2, K1=2, and O1=3, U1=3
I required multiple conditional formatting that could color the cells based on values first from A to D then from F to K and finally from O to U.
I'm using above formatting it works with cells having values 1 but its not working for 2, 3 or any other cells values.

i would like to be able to fill color numerous rows of cells that have a number in one of the columns that is either above a certain number or below a certain number.

I have a column that when I put info in it gives me a colour, now on this I have quit a few different labels, eg. AAG201, PRA001, 000010 and so on, now on my rule I have put in that if it is PRA* ,AAG* to be one colour and 0000* to be a colour. (this is working without a problem).
I have tried to get the rest of the row to be the same colour, but cannot get te rules to work, I do not know which rule to use to get this working.
I'm trying to use the SUMCOLOR function found on your website to sum cells which have conditional formatting (background colors with bold writing) applied to them, but it doesn't work.

I have a spreadsheet with 12 coloums. In the last coloum are the ords "yes", "no", or is empty (null?). I need to find a way to have each row that contains the word "no" or is empty to be highlighted in red font and bold type. When the word "yes" is typed then the font is black and the type in normal. This allows me to see at a glance what orders have not been picked up or have problems.
Where E2:E13 have the values and only the red background (=3) is needed. If the green and yellow background colors where needed what do I set the = to?
I have a rows of cells,each with over 30 columns.The writing is in 3 fonts,blue,black and red.
I want to award a score of 1 for a blue font,0 for afont cell and -1 for a red font and then get the total score for each row,to place in an additional column on the right.
I have conditional formatting set to paint the cells a certain color if the values are >0 and a diff. color if they are <0. If i enter the value manually everything is fine but if a use a formula to do the calculation there is no formatting.
Is it possibe to change another cells color (Fill) based on what is placed in that cell? Example: A1 =if there is an "x" in A2 highlight A1 Green, but I have information in A1 also. Is there a way for me to enter numbers in my cells and have them a specific color? I want all my odd numbers to be bold red with a yellow highlighted cell, my even Numbers to be green with a gray color cell.

If i create a rule in conditional formatting for each text,I have to create nearly 400+ rules for my task now, which is not possible.
