An Array And Return The Same Row In Another Column
I have an array with a lot of rows and columns filled with different codes.
I need to look into this array for one specific number and return the value in the same row in an specific column.
I can't use Vlookup in this case because it needs to have the values you are looking for in the first column and my values are spread in different columns.

Looking Up Row Array Data In Column Array
On one sheet (KPI) I have either the values "x" or "" in the range A84:A89 to mark wheter to use the corresponding project in the range B84:B89. On the sheet X-ref I have the same project names in range T4:Y4 and a corresponding target value in T8:Y8 What I want is the sum (or average) of the marked-projects target-values. The result should end up in KPI!G31. In other words I want =sumif(A84:A89;"x";'X-ref'!T4:Y4) but it doesn't work since the first range is an column-array and the second range is an row-array.

Index / Array Return A Value From Same Column In Another Sheet
I am currently looking at a simple data set spanning a few years of annual average data. I want to create a front sheet to show people in what year the maximum value was reached for each site but am having trouble returning the values...... The summary sheet is headed:...... I want the formula to say - find the summary sheet max value cell in the main data sheet row 2 (for XYZ) and return the corresponding column from row 1 (year). I've got myself in a muddle trying to create array data from the index function and want something simple. There are only about 30 rows so am happy to manually select the rows in question and repeat the formula entry so it doesn't need to be fancy.

I'm looking for a formula to search for a value in the SECOND (instead of first) column of a table array and return a value in the same row from FIRST (instead of the same or another) column in the table array. Formula would be searching for the unique production order number in the column B and return production line id from the column A. A1 production line_id B1 poduction_order_number A2 L1 A3 L2 A4 L1 B2 505212 B3 504234 B4 505663 I was trying vlookup(504234;B2:A4;2;0) to make formula go search from right columns to the left but then excel is switching the search table to A2:B4 and gives #N/D! One remark-there is no possibility to switch these 2 columns to simplify. I have to leave them as they are.

Match Text In Column Of Another Workbook & Return Nth Column Same Row
I have two excel files. File #1 is a varying length and has 4 columns with ID #s in Column A. File #2 is a two column file that contains a list of ID #s in column A AND modified ID#s in column B. I need to match the ID #s in column A from file# 1 to the list in column A of file#2 then replace ALL instances of the matching ID #s in column A of file#1, with the values found in column B of file #2. I've tried using the substitute function but I could only replace one found ID at a time.

Formula To Go Through Each Row And If The 2nd Column Is Yes Then Return The First Column
I have a collection of data like the following: Week1 | yes Week2 | no Week3 | no Week4 | yes Week5 | no ... Week28 | yes I need a formula to go through each row and if the 2nd column is yes then return the first column. I could then copy and paste this formula into a the next cell, add an argument saying the returned value cannot be the same as the previous ones, and so on. Essentially this is a series of nested IF statements. However, Excel prevents more than 7 statements from being nested, when I need all 28 to be searched. I cannot think of a way to get VLOOKUP, INDEX & MATCH, or defined names to make this work, because it needs to step through each row.

Delete Row If Value(array) Doesnt Exist In Column
I noticed there any plenty of examples of delete row if variable EXIST. But im after deleting rows if an array of string items DONT exist. EG. vList = Array("AWilson54", "ADavey99", "MPaterson44"). its for a varying size document and the column to search through is (AN). Does anyone already have something for this? as i mentioned before there are plenty of search hits on if a value exists but not the opposite.

Lookup Value Then Return Value In Row 1 Of That Column
I have a list of values in column A (part numbers) In columns B to E I have lists of similar values (part numbers, with row 1 representing their location e.g warehouse, office, etc). In column F2 I would like to search for the value in A2 in the range B2:E100 and return the value in B1:E1 if the value appears... if it doesnt appear in any of the columns I would like 'not located' to appear in F2. I've been trying to do this for a while but am making no progress at all.

I would like to use a macro to find a number in a worksheet, other than the worksheet i'm using the macro in. The number - in this case a material code located in Column A - must be entered by the user in an inputbox, and then return (copy&paste?) the value of another cell (the price of the material - in Column D) in the same row. I recorded a macro envoking the find function, but then it only finds the number which I used during the recording. How do I change the code so that the user can input any number, or what code must I write?

I am wanting to allow the user to select a cell in a worksheet and return the cell address and information/value from the cell. For example, if "Dog" is in cell A1 and "Cat" is cell A2 and the user initiates the Macro I would like the macro to to pop up a message box and say something like "Select a cell in Column A". Trying to write a formula that looks for the first number in the same row, then returns the value in that column in a different row. In the example included, cell A-7 should contain the formula. Within row 7, determine the column where the first number is listed (column D in this case), then return the value listed in row 3 of that column ('C' in this case). I've tried Lookup, Index, and Match functions, but can't seem to get the right combination.

Ex: Sheet2 Col:A has names filled in A2:11 , row B1:J1 has dates that you would input. formula goes in B2:J11 Sheet1 is the master with all the data the formula would be pulling from. column A2:A11 has the names , row B1:S1 has the chore that needs to be done. Find Value In Table & Return Column / Row Header
I am having trouble with getting a value (which is the row and column value) from a set of numbers. I have attached an example table to try and make things clearer. What I have is a table with a set of Row Headers, and Columns Headers all numeric. e.g Columns headed 1, 2, 3, 4, Rows 30, 40, 50 etc. I want to find the 1st occurrence of a value e.g. 1.0 in the table (by 1st Up mean closest to top left), and then give me the value of the Row and Column Header that corresponds to that. So for the example attached, I want to get the row Value 200 and Column 6 from finding the 1st occurrence of the number 1. I have tried various combinations of index and Match etc. But I can't get my head around the fact that the position of the 1st no. 1.0 can change, therefore I can't use any releative positions etc.

Find Data In Column Range & Return Cell Same Row But X Columns To Right
i have is 3 sheets in the same excel document. Sheet 1 is the mater sheet, which is a compilation of sheets 2 and 3, however the sheet layouts are different. The sheets consist of a list of names and details. Sheet 1 has all the names in the list, however sheet 2 and 3 only have partial lists that are in a different order from the original list. The details listed next to the names in sheets 2 and 3 are different and hence a straight forward row copy and paste will not work. What i need is to write a vba script that can take the name from the master list, search sheets 2 and 3 for the name and lookup the variables placed in next to the name, then update the master sheet accordingly, then continue to the next name on the master sheet and do the update again, and so on until all is updated. I have already thought about using lookup functions in excel however there is 1000 names on the list and around 60 details so it would be messy.

I'm trying to use an array to carry out string function on a range of excel cells. The first 2 cells in the F column are blank so this may have something to do with it, I am unsure if cells in excel can be null if they can be null one cell may be null and the other may be a zero length string but I am unsure about this. The ubound function returns a value of 487. The code breaks when I try to access an element in the array so it breaks on the line: If Left(arrXl(i), 1) <> Mid(arrXl(i), 3, 1) Then and returns the "Subscript out of range" error message.

I have two columns of data, one containing Groups, another containing Items. Like this: Group | Item A | Apple A | Orange B | Pear B | Banana C | Tire D | Coffee etc. On another sheet, I have each of the groups listed as column headings. I want to resort the data and display it in columns instead of in a single list. I can write a VLOOKUP to search for "B" for example, and return "Pear", but I want to return all matches for "B" not just the first one.

The list of products is variable in length so I can pass the data to a two-dimensioned array. I guess the old plug-in that converted Excel->HTML isn't available? Column A is a finished product and B-D are the ingredients to make it however values in Column A are also ingredients (sometimes multiple times). I want a formula that searches for values in Column A within the table B1:D5 and returns an array, if possible, of the finished products where Column A was used. For example, searching for Sugar would return "Flour, Water". Searching for Water would return "Milk, Eggs" (I'd rather not have Milk listed twice but beggars can't be choosers).

Array Formula To Return Text
I have an Array formula that returns a value from several rows below: =MAX(IF($P$8:$AQ$8="Today",$P13:$AQ13)) Row 8 contains only text and only one occurrence of the word "Today". Row 13 has only numbers. The corresponding value directly below the column containing the word "Today" is returned successfully. I now need a similar formula to return a text entry located in the same column but on the previous row (row 12) directly above the value just returned and this row contains only text entries. Using the above formula and referencing $P12:$AQ12 returns 0 as expected.

Non Array Formula To Return First Value In A Range
Range A1:A10 contains no formulas, only constants. Only one constant value at most would ever be in that range, sometimes nothing in that range. The value might be text like "Tom", or it might be a number like "1234". The value could be in any of the 10 cells. So far, and this is where the "missing something obvious" part comes in, I have only seen array solutions such as =INDEX(A1:A10,MATCH(TRUE,A1:A10"",0)) My question is, can this result be achieved with a non array / non sumproduct formula. I need to do this for 6000 cells in a project, that's the design and that's the way it is. I don't want that many arrays in the workbook. I already did this with VBA so I am not asking for a VBA or UDF solution, just hoping to know from the formula wizards what a non-array formula could be that returns the first found (and in this case only-existing) constant value in a range.

I am drawing a total blank here, lets say I have a column of cells: A1 ("Word") A2 ("No") A3 ("No") A4 ("Word") A5 ("Word") (they all have words in them). How can I return all cells (an array?) that contain a specific word? =COUNTIF(A1:A5,"Word") returns: 3 That function is almost perfect, except that returns a number - I need this to return an array of all of those cells that contain the word. Because I have another function to run after that takes in cells and THEN counts how many are a certain color (this one already works) - so it obviously cannot take in a number, it needs a list of cells So it should return: A1,A4,A5 But I'm not sure in what format

Function To Return Single Dimensioned Array
I am trying to write a function that returns a single dimension array from inputed data. I want this to work for any data, i.e. a single cell, an array in vba or a range. I am using the "for each" staement. However, when I pass an array in the "for each" returns the same range, rather than the elements of the range. I've played around a bit, and the "for each" does what I want on an range if I am not passing the range to a function. Is it because I am passing the range into a function as a variant? Array Lookup, Return/Sum Multiple Values
In the attached sheet, I want to look up values from table (A1:G5) and then for each occurrence of a particular number, return the value in the same row in column H, and sum when there are multiple values (see green shaded area for desired output. For example, the number 8 occurs in E3, E4, and G5. I want to return the sum of the corresponding values in column H (1,5, and 2).
