(multiple) VLOOKUP Function To Return Blank Field On False
Mar 10, 2009
Where in this function would I put " " to return a blank field if false is returned?
=IF(D18>=1,(VLOOKUP(C18,C7:E13,2,FALSE))-(VLOOKUP(C18,C7:E13,3,FALSE))+(VLOOKUP(C18,C7:E13,3,FALSE))*D18)

I have the following formula,
=IF(AH10="","",IF(VLOOKUP(AH10,Sheet3!C:D,2,FALSE)="","",VLOOKUP(AH10,Sheet3!C:D,2,FALSE)))
that I would like to return a blank cell not N/A if the value that is in "AH10" is not found.

I have 2 columns of data: Column A is basically postcodes, but just the 1st part and Column B is a #2. If somewhere else on the sheet I type in the postcode IE. SW19 it will show besides it in my lookup the number 2. However if I type in a postcode that is not listed in Column A, I'd like to to return the value 1. I cannot figure this out. My code is:

I have the following formula:
=IF(ISBLANK(H16),"",IF(H16="Car","Ca",IF(H16="Boat","Bo")))
Where I would like it to return a Blank cell if H16 is blank. However it always puts False in the cell because there is a Vlookup that is hidden H16. Is there a way I can make it return as a blank cell instead of false.

I am still having bother with if statemnts (within a cell in excel - not a macro)
Sicarii kindly assisted me the other day with this...
=IF(A1="&","V",IF(A1=" &"," V"))
*note* there is nothing set in this for FALSE.
How do I get the statement to return nothing (i.e.: have "" in the return) instead of 'false'? To explain further, I have in a column, the following:
&
^ & (i.e.:'(space)&')
&
33
&
^ &.........................

I am trying to use the IF function to return a false value if the combined sum of a row is not the same as either of the 1st 2 cells. If that makes any sense!
This is the formula I would like to use. =IF(SUM(g3:g9)=g1 or g2 then y if true and x if false. I thought it would be easy but I can't figure out how to do it

I'm trying to determine if a rangeName is defined so that I can delete it without a programming error. I've used the idea that if I try to goto a non-existant rangeName, I'll get an error. I've tried to design a function that will return true or false if the rangeName is defined on the basis of that idea. Can you take a look at the code and see where I went wrong?

I'm trying to create a rec report, ideally on one page, for multiple criteria. The situation is we get a report on our trade positions (investment stuff) from an outside service we use. We also have a report internally from what we've booked. We're looking to tie out are basic things like price, original par, revised par, trade date, counter-party banks, etc. I've consolidated data from both sources on one page (DATA) where all data points are lined up (say EXTERNAL is from rows 1-500, and INTERNAL is 510-1010). Now I need to create a front page showing the result of each tie-out. The lookup value will be a combination of the fund name + trade ticket number which would almost guarantee a unique ID (fund name XYZ, ticket number 12345 = XYZ12345)
Current tabs on spreadsheet: DATA, EXTERNAL, INTERNAL. I need to add a REC page
Question: What formula can I use to check on each and return TRUE/FALSE? The goal is to have about 8 columns on the REC, each for one of the tie-outs (let's use price as an example.). I know the basic VLOOKUP to return one value, but it appears in this case I will need VLOOKUP to check two matching values based on unique ID XZY12345, compare the price, and return TRUE if they match, FALSE if they don't
Here's something I saw from one of our spreadsheets that I think does the same to confirm counter-party, though I have no idea how to read this lengthy formula.
=EXACT(VLOOKUP(IF(Q2="COMPANY",R2,Q2),FUNDS!$M$1:$N$400,2,FALSE),
INDEX(PENDING!$G$4:$G$3218,MATCH(CP!C2,PENDING!$N$4:$N$3218,0)))

Here's my formula:
=AND([@[Tenure (Yrs)]]>=5,[@[2016 Sales]]>=150000)
(Where should I enter high and low? Do I need an if formula nested into it?)
I'm trying to get it to read if the customer reads both criteria which is they've been there 5 years and over 150000 sales =
High if not Low.

I need to check one column to see if it is less than another one
If it is I need to have the IF function return specific criteria for true and then for false but then I also need it to rely on the results of another question from another column if the result of the first query is less than the figure in another column again I need to return specific criteria for tur and then for false
An AND function requires both to be true but when one isnt what do I write?

I am trying to return a TRUE or FALSE based on a date in a cell.
for example:
if cell A1 = 07/11/2009
I want A2 to show TRUE or FALSE if A1 is 14 days or more behind todays date.
I have tried stuff like:
=IF(A1=TODAY()-14,"True","False")
but it just always says false. EDIT: I have just noticed that if I change the date in A1 to exactly 14 days behind todays, it returns TRUE. So, it does work. Do I need to add a GREATER THAN in there?

I'm very new to excel. I need a formula to put in a column (I) that returns ONLY a five-digit zip code from the adjacent cell in column J, which is a full address. Nearly every entry is written differently, and many do not contain a zip code. I would like the cell to be blank if the cell in J contains no zip code .
I'm using the formula:
=MID(J5,MATCH(TRUE,ISNUMBER(-MID(SUBSTITUTE(J5,"","#"),ROW(INDIRECT("1:"&LEN(J5)-4)),5)),0),5)
This formula sometimes returns -**** format numbers, considering them to be negative and still five-digit. It also returns #N/A if no zip code is present, and I would like this to be blank. I'm sure I can nest the formula within an IFF, but have not been able to make it work myself.

I am creating a tracking spreadsheet where i can toggle between months (attached). It returns data properly when I select January or February from the yellow highlighted dropdown list. However, when i choose March, it returns 1/0/1900 because no data has been entered for March (table array) on the AAAG tab. How do I write the formula to return a blank cell on the summary sheet when no information has been entered into the table array yet?

I am looking to adapt a piece of code (originally created by Ger Plante) so that it autofilters multiple columns of a table. I have three data validated lists that need to search 3 different columns in the table and filter accordingly, but also show all if no hits are made (hence why Ger Plante's code) was perfect in most respects. I would ideally like to keep the code as a Worksheet_Change event, but can deal with it being run as a normal Macro via a button if this is necessary.
[URL]....
VB:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Not Intersect(Target, Range("B1")) Is Nothing Then
Range("A5:C5").AutoFilter Field:=1, Criteria1:=IIf(Trim(Range("B1").Text) = "", "<>", "=") & Range("B1").Text
End If
End Sub

is there anyway to have a vlookup formula display a blank cell instead of #N/A if the value it was looking for is not found. For example the first spreadsheet contains the persons name say Bob, the 2nd spreadsheet that the vlookup formula is searching does not contain the name Bob right now excel shows #N/A but what I want it to show is a blank cell. I've tried conditional formating to just white out the text if #N/A appears but can't seem to get that to work.

I have a Vlookup, it returns a number, and when it doesn't find a match it returns N/A, and when it does return a match and the return value cell is blank, it returns 0. Is there any way I can have this so when it doesn't find a match, it returns a blank cell, and when it finds a match and there is no value in the return cell, it returns a blank cell as well, rather than 0?

A 1
B 2
C 3

If the value in T14 is in the lookup range, I get the expected value returned. If the value exceeds the vlaues in the lookup range (e.g. I enter "E"), I get the last value in the range (4). How do I get it to return a blank cell if the entry in T14 is not found?

I'm using this formula (thanks to dafan & HalfAce [url]
=IF(VLOOKUP($A177,$A$736:$C$787,3,FALSE)=0,"",VLOOKUP($A177,$A$736:$I$787,3,FALSE))
to return the value located in the 3rd column of the range when the value in the 1st column of the range matches the data in A177.
However, there isn't a match for the data in A178 in the range, so the formula returns "#N/A". I would like the cell containing the formula to remain blank in those instances.

Here's an example of what i want to do
A_________ B Frank Sinatra C Sammy Davis D Dean Martin E Joey Bishop F 3
I want to put "D"'s value 'Dean Martin' in column A - i know it belongs in A because the "3" in column F indicates its the 3rd answer listed i.e Dean Martin. This format would be the same where there are 4 possible answers on the column to the right dictates which answer is correct.

I have hundreds of records of customer info and I am trying to categorize the job titles so that I can conduct some analysis with a pivot table. My problem is that there is about 20 different ways and variations of "manager" so Instead of autofiltering for "mrg." "Manager" "marketing manager" ect. and then replacing the text manually and using the enter and fill process (to create some standardization to compare "manager" to "director" to "c-level" to "consultant", etc.) and repeating this process over and over again...
I would like to create a VBA that would search the column "job title" for multiple text strings at once and if the text string was true in the cell then the cell would be replaced by a new text string "Manager". I was thinking a series of if functions within one vba but I am not sure if this is possible.

I have a simple formula ='info page'!b2&'info page'!b5 in places that on my sheet adds a company prefix to a item number, prefix in b2 and item in b5, we have a client that we cant use prefixes but now when I leave the field blank its giving a zero and thats not good either. I'm pretty sure an IFERROR or something will work but can get the syntax right.

I am wondering about the best syntax for using a VLOOKUP return as the row number in a CORREL function. I want to create rolling correlations from today's date. I have a VLOOKUP function that will return the row number corresponding to the chosen day's date. I now need to use that returned value in the CORREL function. That is, I would like it to look something like:
=CORREL($E$VLOOKUP(today-90,AD5:AE3143, 2):$E$VLOOKUP(today,AD5:AE3143, 2),$E$VLOOKUP(today-90,AD5:AE3143, 2):$E$VLOOKUP(today,AD5:AE3143, 2))
When I enter this, I am told that I have an error. Is there a better way to nest this vlookup?

For example if I were to take the data in cells d3($358), d4($321), d5($130), d6($82) and skip a cell to now make the same data into cells d3, d5, d7, d9. Next, the data in cells f3, f4, f5, f6 would be merge into the blank cells of d4, d6, d8, d10.
The final result would look like column B. I have over two years of sales data in two separate columns that I need to merged into one column. Is there easier way without a simple cut and paste one cell at a time as this would take an enormous amount of time to complete? I’m not that good with VBA codes so a formula works good, but if VBA is the way to go then tell how to enter it on my worksheet.

Assume you have a rectangular range. Say A1:M18. There are values in some random cells (any number of cells) within the range. The rest of cells are blank. In cell M19 (ie cell below the bottom right corner of the range), I need a excel function that returns the nearest (ie physical location) non blank cell value. I have searched the internet for weeks. The closest formula is the following (see below) but it is flawed as it returns zero if there are values in rows below the row of the nearest cell with non blank...and also zero if there is value in a column greater than the column of the nearest cell with non blank.
Closest formula so far:
INDEX(A1:M18,LARGE(IF(ISBLANK(A1:M18),"",ROW(A1:M18)),1)-ROW(A1:M18)+1,LARGE(IF(ISBLANK(A1:M18),"",COLUMN(A1:M18)),1)-COLUMN(A1:M18)+1).
And the function should be relative not absolute as the range can be extended..but the location of the formula remain same relative to the array size. (ie. always at below the right bottom cell).
NOTE: Ignore the special case where two non blank cells are the nearest. That will not happen.

Sheet 1
Cell A1= Employee ID: 123-D.
Sheet2
Vlookup A1 from Sheet 1, and match the first five characters to Column A, Column I and Column P. If a match, return name (e.g. John Doe) in Sheet 1, cell B1.
