2007 Crashes When Saving A Specific File
Jul 1, 2009
Hi all, I've reinstalled office 2007 because excel 2007 was crashing very often when inserting new rows or when saving the file. I tried with other files and apparently work fine. The specific file can be opened but I don't know if is corrupted, I tried repairing it with open and repair from the file open menu but didn't work (it is still happening the same). I've been working on the file during few days and wouldn't like to start from scrath again, can anyone help me with this?

I have a macro which saves file to a specific folder. Problem is I can save the file only in my local drive C: but not on a server for some reason.
Here is the
At home in my home computer this code worked when C: was selected.
ChDir ("c:")
Title = Application.GetSaveAsFilename(Name, "Excel files (*.xls), *.xls")
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Name
Save the file in specific place
But when I substituted C: path with my server path it doesnt work! Have a look. Its the exact same code except my path is different.
ChDir ("\Lnf001Lnf1vol1SharedOP_ENGWork Order")
Title = Application.GetSaveAsFilename(Name, "Excel files (*.xls), *.xls")
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Name

As I've learned to develop Excel apps with vba over the years I've noticed that, if the Excel app starts to get too large (over 1MB) saving it will often cause the application to crash for no apparent reason - the result being that I lose all the vba code I entered before the last save - with the worst case being that, on occasion I have lost all of the vba code in an applications!!!
So, I've learned to back up often using a third-party utility that I use to save my applications, which works wonders in allowing me to save my application without it crashing. The application is called Code Cleaner 97.exe. It was designed around Excel 97 (which I still use) but if possible I'd like to get an updated version for Excel 2003 and Excel 2007, which I also use.
Does anyone know of a more recent version of this utility, or another similar utility that allows large Excel applications to be properly saved, etc?
Code Cleaner 97.exe was a freebie that was available through one of the old Compuserve Excel forums. It was a very popular utility and was suggested as a means to save one's Excel apps without the app getting trashed, etc.
I'm not expecting a freebie solution so I'll gladly pay for something that allows me to save my large Excel apps without them crashing, etc.

We are using Excel 2007.
I have a macro enabled spreadsheet and I need to save one sheet into a new file that is in xls format. I can do that --- is there anyway to suppress the Compatibility Checker box to make it that much easier?
The new file will not have macros as will just be a data in rows and columns so compatibility. Interesting is the compatibility checker box says there are links to the original spreadsheet, but I can't find them in the connections menu.

I have a worksheet that has a number in cell K5 - the number is generated on "file open" code and is custom formatted as "TN"0000. Thus 1 appears as TN0001, 2 as TN0002 and so on. I am trying to save a copy of the workbook based on the this cells contents i.e. TN0001.xls, TN0002.xls etc. but the files are saved as 1.xls or 2.xls. The code I am using is
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:="C:DataExcelFORMSDelivery Note" & Range("K5") & ".xls", _
FileFormat:=xlNormal, ReadOnlyRecommended:=True, CreateBackup:=False
I know I must make reference to format within the above....but how? if try something like
" & Format(Range("K5").Value, ("TN""0000")) & ".xls"
I get TN00000.xls

I am using Excel 2007. I have pasted my code below. It works fine unless it has a space, in which case it inserts %20. In this case, sRange2 = ActiveSheet.Range("E11") will always have a space in it since this is where i store a job's name.
Sub Macro1()
Dim sRange1 As String
Dim sRange2 As String
Dim sRange3 As String
Dim sRange4 As String

I have 2 excel files (both .xlsx) and in the first file i am creating a reference to cells in the 2nd file using SUMIFS function. The 2nd file has 275,000 rows of data. I can create the formula correctly, however when i save the file, it just crashes every time (says not responding). If i create simple reference (=A275000) then its fine so im not sure what the issue is.

I have a VBA macro for Excel 2007 below that loops through a workbook and deletes a picture (shape) in a range at the top of each worksheet.
The macro works fine until a cell which contains a seemingly unrelated data validation list on Sheets(1) is changed. The macro then repeatedly trips up with a 'Run-time error 1004 - Application defined or object defined error'.
The cell with the data validation is outside of the range in which the shapes are deleted and does not set any of the variables in the macro.
Sub DeleteLogos()
Dim Count As Integer
Dim NumberOfWorksheets As Integer
Dim Logo As Shape
Dim LogoZone As Range
NumberOfWorksheets = Worksheets.Count
For Count = 1 To NumberOfWorksheets
With Sheets(Count)

I have a spreadsheet that imports data, manipulates it then deletes 2 of the sheets then saves the file under a different name to the network. Is there any way to save this new worksheet without it storing the macros - so when the user open it, only the data is there and they get no prompt to enable macros?

Workbook A has VBA code. The VBA code opens a collection of 2000 workbooks. The workbooks are processed one at a time, with Workbook A opening Workbook B, do something, close Workbook B, get next workbook. Sometimes Workbook B has some kind of access issue that results in:
"[File Name] cannot be accessed. The file may
be read-only, or you may be trying to
access a read-only location. Or, the
server the document is stored on may
not be responding.
RETRY ... CANCEL"
If RETRY is clicked, the process returns the same message. If CANCEL is clicked, the process is crashed, Excel is closed, and all data processed is lost. What is the VBA syntax to programmatically trap this condition so it can be processed in an orderly manner?

I have numerous spreadsheets that I need to open and unhide a sheet, that has XML data stored in cell A1. What I need to do is copy that data in cell A1 and paste it into a text document and save that as an XML file saved as the XLS workbook name with a date stamp.
I'm running into many issues, the main issue is the saving as current file name, and the formatting of the text/XML file.
Here is my current code, which doesn't reference the current file name and is just very generic. Once I get the saving as file-name correct and the formatting of the xml file correct, I will work on it a bit more.
Code:
Sub Test()
Dim Rng As Range
Dim wb As Workbook
Set Rng = Range("A1:A2")
Set wb = Workbooks.Add
With wb
Rng.Copy

I am setting up a "save as" macro that saves a file by replacing another file in a folder. Even though the macro has been recorded by approving the replacement (the prompt appears "the file --- already exists. Do you want to replace the existing file?"), when I run the macro, I am again prompted about replacing the file. Is it possible to avoid the prompt so the file is automatically saved by replacing the named file?

I was wondering if there is a way to write a macro that will take an excel file that I have called Alldata and then have it copy the first two sheets to a new workbook named something else( FullSparameter_0) and then copy the name of the third and fourth sheet into the new FullSparameter_0 workbook and then copy column A-E from sheet dB Alldata.xls and paste it into the FullSparameter_0.xls workbook in the same dB sheet in the same spot. And do the same thing with the Phase Sheet. i know this sounds confusing, but im really new to the VBA stuff.
I just need 15 different files from the original Alldata.xls that will be named FullSparameter_0, FullSparameter_1, .., FullSparameter_14. but each file will have the same two first sheets, Setup Information and Cal Verification, and the same last two sheet names, dB and Phase, but then in the dB and phase sheets, it will copy over the next four columns of data. so in FullSparameter_0 it will have column A-E from sheet dB in Alldata.xls in the dB sheet in FullSparameter_0 (Same with the Phase Sheets). Then in FullSparameter_1 it will have column A and Columns F,G,H and I (for dB and Phase). In fullSparameter_2 it will have column A and then J,K,L and M. Each FullSparameter_X will have the exact same first two sheets and then the other columns for the last two sheets will be pasted into columns A-E in dB and Phase.

found the following code which works for 1 workbook at a time. I am trying to save 7 workbooks at 1 time. Is it possible?
Sub SaveAsCell()
Dim strName As String
On Error Goto InvalidName
strName = Sheet1. Range("V77")
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs strName
It will work on the first sheet but none after that. I need to have each workbook saved with the value in cell V77. Also if that is possible, is it possible to change where the file is saved as well?
Right now I have a master workbook that will open the 7 other workbooks, paste data onto several pages in each workbook. I would like the macro to save the workbooks. The workbooks are named: 02 Tuesday, 03 Wednesday, 04 Thursday, 05 Friday, 06 Saturday, 07 Sunday, 08 Monday.

I have someone in the company that I work for that is using Excel 2007 in compatibility mode, that is trying to make changes to an Excel 2003 file.
The file in question is a large one. She can type in the rows and columns and anything that she types will save. However if she trys to make any changes to the file in terms on calculations or highlighting specific columns, then these changes are not saved.
I have found out though that if she saves this 2003 file in the 2007 format, then all over her changes will save. She can't save it in the 2007 format due to some people still on 2003 that edit this file as well.

Excel 2007 on windows 7 professional.
We've got an end user who opens a .dat file which is delimited with semi-colons, replaces some text in a couple of columns then saves as a text tab delimited file. She swears that before today, the saved file would retain the semi-colons. Now she says it's not. she generated a new .dat file for me and recreated the process, with the resultant semicolon-free file. I asked her to generate another one and send it to me. I opened it first in notepad, and saw the semi-colons.
Opened it in excel (I'm using 2010 on win 7 professional), which saw it as a delimited file and asked me to specify the delimiter. It shows up fine, all the columns are righteous. I made no edits and saved as a text tab delimited, and that saved file had no semi-colons in it when I opened it. This seems normal to me; there's no semi-colons in the excel file, so why would there be in the text tab delimited file. I asked her coworker to generate another .dat from his pc and let me know what he sees, but he hasn't reported back yet.

I find, when performing a 'save as', xl puts in a default filename with a suffix (1), or (2), or (3) and so on, to the existing filename, after I have opened a file from MS Outlook. I had assumed it was because there was already an existing file in the default directory, and so it was creating another version, but no other files with the same name exist in the default directory being saved to, or on the remainder of my computer, so I don't understand why this occurs.

My set up office 2007 win xp pro ie8
is it possible using vba ideally with a button marked save, to save a single worksheet and name it, in CSV format
Then I would like to be able to do the reverse load a CSV file back in to a work sheet
Expanding upon this
1. Click a command button with caption “save”
2. Take the name of a given sheet, in my case DataToUpLoad and append it with a number to give a sheet name of DataToUpLoad 1 the first time it is save and DataToUpLoad 2 the next time and so on
3. Click another command button with the caption “load” interact with usual dialog box.
My current work around is to copy a sheet open a new work book past the sheet in the save that work book as CSV
The reason this is required is to mate up with the php on the server side

My set up win xp pro office 2007. Object is to save the text from a given cell to drive C naming the file with the value in another cell. E.g.
Contents of cell ("AA5") is a string and the content of ("D5") is a number
I have tried altering the code posted which i found on the forum, it works fine for the purpose as it was indented e.g. save the workbook and in my case saves it as the value in cell D5.
I guess I need to use some form of object to pass to the save as method but my knowledge of this is somewhat limited in addition as the is a possibility of either the cell being empty and the file name existing on the C drive, I need to disable the windows warnings and just go ahead and save it over writing what is on the C drive is of no importance as it will be the same data anyway, I can wrap the save in a "if Len ( AA5)= 0" to stop it trying to save if the cell if empty it the save the text string i am having problems with:
Option Explicit
Sub SaveAsExample()
Dim FName As String
Dim FPath As String
FPath = "C:"
FName = Sheets("Sheet1").Range("A1").Text
ThisWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=FPath & "" & FName
End Sub
