Excel 2007 :: Saving And Loading Single Sheet?
Dec 21, 2011
My set up office 2007 win xp pro ie8
is it possible using vba ideally with a button marked save, to save a single worksheet and name it, in CSV format
Then I would like to be able to do the reverse load a CSV file back in to a work sheet
Expanding upon this
1. Click a command button with caption “save”
2. Take the name of a given sheet, in my case DataToUpLoad and append it with a number to give a sheet name of DataToUpLoad 1 the first time it is save and DataToUpLoad 2 the next time and so on
3. Click another command button with the caption “load” interact with usual dialog box.
My current work around is to copy a sheet open a new work book past the sheet in the save that work book as CSV
The reason this is required is to mate up with the php on the server side

I have an excel add-in which is a ribbon which houses a great deal of financial tools that I use on a regular basis so I don't have to hunt around excel for things I use regularly. The add-in has always loaded automatically whenever I opened excel - whether I opened excel by creating a new blank document or by double clicking a previously existing file.
Starting a few days ago though, the add-in only opens when opening excel by creating a new blank file. I can't think of anything that changed recently. Using Excel 2007.
Even when opening a file by double clicking, Excel still says the add-in is active (in excel options).

Automating Excel from Access, I'm attempting to generate a single sheet workbook and save to a Sharepoint site. This process works fine on my machine (XL2007, XP), but on a coworkers computer (XL2003, XP), the code throws a 1004 error on the save as line. However, the really odd thing is that stepping through the code doesn't throw an error on the coworkers machine.
Here's the sub being ran; the line it errors out on is the first branch in the .saveas block.
Code:
Private Const csSharePointSaveAs = "\sharepoint-us.mycompany.comsitesfinance adminlah blahlah-blahCustomer Publication Tracking.xls"
Private Sub PublishXLtoMOSS()
Dim objXL As Excel.Application 'Object
Dim wb As Excel.workbook 'Object
Dim ws As Excel.Worksheet 'Object
Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
Dim i As Long
'Set objXL = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
[Code] ...........

I have created a userform which is initiated off a button in her spreadsheet, where if she enters an order number, it will display the values from the row containing that order number. I have made it so she can load from the excel sheet the values into textboxes, where she can change values then save them back into the excel sheet.
I have also include the ability to insert a new row at the end for a new order.
Everything works fine except the date values and I'm a bit stumped, I have searched but can't find anything that helps (I thought DateSerial helped but it didn't).
I've had two problems. the first was that the day and month swapped, I could load 1st Mar 2007 from the excel sheet and when stored back it changed to 3rd Jan 2007. This I presume to be due to US and UK date formats, I am in the UK.
I thought I had fixed this by changing:
oDisplay.Value = vStoreArea .............................

I've created a macro that loads a listbox with the sheet names from another workbook. It works fine with Excel 2007-2010 but some reason fails with 2013. It doesn't crash, it just doesn't add items to the listbox nor doest it add the caption to Userform1.Caption. It does launch the form. Here is the code snippet:
Code:
'open read-only
wbkpath = Sheet3.Cells(1, "f") 'full pathway to source workbook
Workbooks.Open Filename:=wbkpath, ReadOnly:=True
Set swbk = ActiveWorkbook
swbk.Activate

I have created a workbook for a quality check and it has about 50+ worksheets in the workbook, which contains data, formula,graphic & vba function. The size of the file is about 4890kb. It's works as planned, except, it takes about 1 mins ++ to load, save & even exit. Is there any suggestion to eliminate this issue, apart from creating a few workbook to accomodate the number of sheets/item in the project?

I have someone in the company that I work for that is using Excel 2007 in compatibility mode, that is trying to make changes to an Excel 2003 file.
The file in question is a large one. She can type in the rows and columns and anything that she types will save. However if she trys to make any changes to the file in terms on calculations or highlighting specific columns, then these changes are not saved.
I have found out though that if she saves this 2003 file in the 2007 format, then all over her changes will save. She can't save it in the 2007 format due to some people still on 2003 that edit this file as well.

Excel 2007 on windows 7 professional.
We've got an end user who opens a .dat file which is delimited with semi-colons, replaces some text in a couple of columns then saves as a text tab delimited file. She swears that before today, the saved file would retain the semi-colons. Now she says it's not. she generated a new .dat file for me and recreated the process, with the resultant semicolon-free file. I asked her to generate another one and send it to me. I opened it first in notepad, and saw the semi-colons.
Opened it in excel (I'm using 2010 on win 7 professional), which saw it as a delimited file and asked me to specify the delimiter. It shows up fine, all the columns are righteous. I made no edits and saved as a text tab delimited, and that saved file had no semi-colons in it when I opened it. This seems normal to me; there's no semi-colons in the excel file, so why would there be in the text tab delimited file. I asked her coworker to generate another .dat from his pc and let me know what he sees, but he hasn't reported back yet.

I find, when performing a 'save as', xl puts in a default filename with a suffix (1), or (2), or (3) and so on, to the existing filename, after I have opened a file from MS Outlook. I had assumed it was because there was already an existing file in the default directory, and so it was creating another version, but no other files with the same name exist in the default directory being saved to, or on the remainder of my computer, so I don't understand why this occurs.

My set up win xp pro office 2007. Object is to save the text from a given cell to drive C naming the file with the value in another cell. E.g.
Contents of cell ("AA5") is a string and the content of ("D5") is a number
I have tried altering the code posted which i found on the forum, it works fine for the purpose as it was indented e.g. save the workbook and in my case saves it as the value in cell D5.
I guess I need to use some form of object to pass to the save as method but my knowledge of this is somewhat limited in addition as the is a possibility of either the cell being empty and the file name existing on the C drive, I need to disable the windows warnings and just go ahead and save it over writing what is on the C drive is of no importance as it will be the same data anyway, I can wrap the save in a "if Len ( AA5)= 0" to stop it trying to save if the cell if empty it the save the text string i am having problems with:
Option Explicit
Sub SaveAsExample()
Dim FName As String
Dim FPath As String
FPath = "C:"
FName = Sheets("Sheet1").Range("A1").Text
ThisWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=FPath & "" & FName
End Sub

We are using Excel 2007.
I have a macro enabled spreadsheet and I need to save one sheet into a new file that is in xls format. I can do that --- is there anyway to suppress the Compatibility Checker box to make it that much easier?
The new file will not have macros as will just be a data in rows and columns so compatibility. Interesting is the compatibility checker box says there are links to the original spreadsheet, but I can't find them in the connections menu.

I have a worksheet that has a number in cell K5 - the number is generated on "file open" code and is custom formatted as "TN"0000. Thus 1 appears as TN0001, 2 as TN0002 and so on. I am trying to save a copy of the workbook based on the this cells contents i.e. TN0001.xls, TN0002.xls etc. but the files are saved as 1.xls or 2.xls. The code I am using is
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:="C:DataExcelFORMSDelivery Note" & Range("K5") & ".xls", _
FileFormat:=xlNormal, ReadOnlyRecommended:=True, CreateBackup:=False
I know I must make reference to format within the above....but how? if try something like
" & Format(Range("K5").Value, ("TN""0000")) & ".xls"
I get TN00000.xls

Following the tips doesn't allow to remove a character.
I exported email addresses from Outlook and they have the following character ' in front of the email address.
Using Excel 2007.. it says :"check if your search formatting and criteria are defined correctly. If you are sure that matching data exists in this workbook, it may be on a protected worksheet. Excel cannot replace data on a protected worksheet"
So I made a new file, and copied and pasted the cells into the new spreadsheet.. same message.

My Excel 2007 worksheet contains a cell where a percentage is manually input. A freight cost is calculated based on the input percentage. Typically, the percentage is 3-7% but once in a while freight is excluded and the percentage is zero.
My issue is that when a 0 is input the cell appears blank and I would like it to display 0.00%. The remainder of the worksheet needs to have the zero display turned off.

I have a macro that imports text file and puts a comma after each number (alphanumeric also). I have tried to change it to put single quote around the number and comm afterwards.
Text file listing
123
456
789
When I run my marco I get the following
123, 456, 789
which is what I want...
Now I want the same text to have single quotes around the data example:
'123', '456', '789'
All that I have tried to adjust keeps missing single quote at the front end and also missing the single quote at the rear end example: 123', '456', '789
Here is the vba I'm running
Sub GetserialNumbers()
Dim FileNum As Long, PathAndFileName As String, TextFromFile As String
Const Delimiter As String = ", "
[Code].....
Whe I run this I have to select the text file to get. I keep it in my documents as a quick access. I'm using MS VBA 6.5 Excel 2007 Windows 7 Enterprise.

I've got a macro that generates some parameters and after they have been generated, the values have to be saved in text file. The problem that I'm facing is that the text file saves the values in double quotes.
I've been searching online for a solution to the problem and what I've found is that if the cell value in excel includes a comma, the resultant text file will store the entire value in double quotes.
I'm using the save as method and I read that if you provide the save format as xlTextPrinter this problem will not occur, but the limitation is that it can only work with values less than 240 characters in length.

I am currently having a slightly annoying issue that only happens 50% of the time, that when trying to re-save a excel sheet on a network location. The network location is a folder on another computer. The same happens when I try and save it as a pdf, but only happens half of the time.
The message which pops up says something along the line of 'Saving as: 'File-ServerDocumentsexcelsheetexample.xls' ' and a sort of green loading bar appears. It does this for about 15 seconds then goes off.
I've checked our anti virus (which is eset) and I've set it to not real time scan network locations.
I have attached a example of the saving message: ExcelWarningExample.jpg

Excel 2007.
I have a workbook with a sheet per day, each sheet has a variety of 'jobs' as columns and a variety of people and kit as rows. Hours are manually input each day during the month.
Simplified version... These are two separate sheets 'M060114' and 'Tu070114'.

Tuesday

I have a Pivot Table on a separate sheet. This was created using the Wizard (ALT +D +P).

So far, lovely.
But when I double-click on a number or right-click and choose 'Show Details' I don't get the sheet names in the newly created information sheet. I get the Row label, column label and a list of the entries.
So if I clicked on 10 above...
Row
Column
Value
Bill
Dig

That's fine with just a couple of entries but with about 80 columns and 250 rows spread across a month, therefore 30ish sheets, it's difficult marrying up the 'Show Details' sheet to the actual data.
So after all that, the question. Is there a way of getting the sheet name to appear in the 'Show Details' information sheet?

What I need is to make a macro that allows you to browse the PC and let the user select the excel sheet where all the Estimate Values are stored. These stored values are pulled up and posted onto the new workbook.
Please pull A1 from the estimate book and put it in B4 of the new workbook

I am building a rather good size userform. It is getting really lengthy code-wise because I want certain things to be enabled and disabled on the form as they click on certain options.
I know I can hard code the lines but so I am trying to come up with some coding elements where I will not have to add 20+ lines of code for everytime I want to add a new feature.
Here is one of the functions that I have, There is going to be several of these:
Private Sub chkMore2_Click()
If chkMore2 = True Then
cboProtocol2.BackStyle = fmBackStyleOpaque
cboApplication2.BackStyle = fmBackStyleOpaque
txtLowPort2.BackStyle = fmBackStyleOpaque
[Code] .......
So If I click chkMore2 ... all of the 2nd elements will be editable. If I click chkMore3 ... then all of the 3rd elements will be editable, etc. etc.
So I tried to play with this code example:
Private Sub CheckBox1_Click()
If CheckBox1 = True Then
Call Changeit(1, "yes")
Else
Call Changeit(1, "no")
[Code] ........
Excel 2007 does not like the .concatenate element.

I have another little conumdrum I'm trying to work out.
I'm using one of Ron's scripts as an add-in which I've just amended the output path for.
http://www.rondebruin.nl/tips.htm
This script essentially creates a new workbook from each worksheet in the active workbook.
As I have a workbook of about 500 worksheets, I am trying to group the worksheets opposed to having to split all and rejoin them manually.
Luckily all of my worksheets names are initials with numbers after them (as assigned by excel when merged):
e.g., RH, RH (2), RH (3), RH (4), AG, AG (2), AG (3) and so on.
That said there are some random ones too, but I'm happy for them to be kicked out as individual files.
Anyway I'm pretty sure there is a way this can be added into this existing script by addressing Sheet.Name perhaps but I'm a bit unsure exactly..
Sorted in order (i.e. 2,3,4) would also be a bonus but not essential as they need to manually checked and I have a separate macro for sorting worksheets anyway.
