Access An Userform For Multiple Users With "protect And Share Option"
Apr 27, 2009
Is it possible to use the userform when it is protected and shared.
I am able to access when it is protected. but unable to access when that protected worksheet is shared.runtime error message " unprotect method sheet class failed" appears it is shared and used.I have already raised this [b]issue in the forum.I understood from the answers that it is not possible.
" My requirement is multiple users should use the form and they should not have the access to edit the entires made by them"
Please give me a solution.
" Being a moderator myself i should only be able to edit or modify the entries made by the users."
Note:
I dont want to create multiple excel sheets for multiple users.i want to use a single excel sheet (Shared and protected)
I have a speadsheet, and at the moment, another spreadsheet access it via a vb code. but i have 3 - 5 agents needing it sometimes at the same time. All that happens, is the agents excel sheet passes some info to the server sheet, so the vb codes opens and closes it. So only one person can do it at the same time.. but i need this so anyone of the agents can enter info via the vb code.
When i tested it, it asked me when i opened it, if i wanted to save what the last person did, I need that not to come up, so really its like the sheet is always open, but not... and lines are added. The info is added to the same sheet, and line by line.
I have a workbook that I would like to share and allow multiple users to add and make changes at the same time. However, the workbook is full of macros that really need to run. Is this possible? The workbook is written in excel 2003.
If this is not possible then is it possible to share the workbook in a similar fashion but not allow any other users to make changes, but update their workbook with the changes that I make?
I need a Userform for employee reports which should be accessible for everyone without any struck. If employees update their updates in that form it should be stored in the centralized Data base. Finally the data collection team will take the reports and updates from data base.
Although i am using VBS, the coding should be similar. I am looking for all Excel files in a folder (WORKING) and determining if they are shared, allowmultipleusers, (WORKING). The problem I am encountering is changing the Excel workbook to a [SHARED] workbook. By that I mean Multiple users can open and make changes. What is the syntax to enable that? As an FYI I can save the [SHARED] workbooks as exclusive (normal), but not the reverse. I have tried Saveas,,,,,,xlshared, but is not working. Here is the VBS code I have (For grins)
Const APPLICATION_DATA = &H1a& Set objShell = CreateObject("Shell.Application") 'Set objFolder = objShell.Namespace("L:Shared Services Stock Rotation ReviewRotations for Review") Set objFolder = objShell.Namespace("C:Documents and Settingsmhast14DesktopRotations for Review") Set objFolderItem = objFolder.Self
Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set objExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application") ..............
I have a large worksheet that for some reason I can’t share.
-It does not have any lists, that I know of, do not know how to see if there are any -It does have validation, but I have other workbooks with listed validation that are shareable -It is not protected -Does not have any named ranges -Is not read only -I have saved it as another file name and no luck there -I have copied the one sheet I really need into a separate file to try that it did not work,
I need to know that how can we share excel workbook. Is it possible over LAN? Also how many users can access the shared workbook. If 50 users are accessing shared workbook and each one working on different workbook. Is this scenario feasible? Will there be any issue if 50 users working on 50 different worksheets of same workbook?
Is there is any way we can protect sheet in such a way that; if user - Mr. A inputs his password he can only go and is able to input his data in sheet 1.
I've a file which have multiple sheets say about 80 tabs are present. My colleague only works on one of the tab (sheet) enters data, that file is placed on our general sharing folder I want to know if it is possible that I can assign protection in such a way that when she enters her password she is able to input data only on the sheet in which she works and cannot roam around to other sheets?
Or is it possible that on first sheet there is username or password can appear? And if the data inputting person opens that file and enter her password option appear which can take her to that particular sheet? And if a guest open that file he/she can only view particular sheets which contain reports?
I want my macro to protect my sheet again after it is done to allow editing objects and formatting rows. I am really stuck and have come up with the below, but it isn't working.
I have several option groups (Y & N in each) linked to cells to display TRUE / FALSE depending on which option is selected in each group. I have another cell which I want to apply conditional formatting to if EITHER Y or N is selected in all groups. At present I use COUNTIF to check for FALSE=0 in the linked cells which works if all the answers are Y. How do I apply CF if there is a mixture of Y & N (TRUE / FALSE) in all groups (I'm not sure if I've explained that well or not).
I have a workbook with 6 tabs. The workbook is designed to be shared but I want to password protect the last 4 sheets so that they can only be accessed by certain people. The people who have access need to be able to edit the sheet.
I have an excel file that imports data from an access database. Now the user wants the database password protected I edited my code to include the line "user ID=admin;password=risk;" but I'm getting an error message stating: "Cannot start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusively by another user."
I'm bothered because I did not create a workgroup information file. I just want a password on the database I did not create users and groups.
Note this code works fine without the password protection and the added line.
My
Sub Update_Click()
Dim rsData As ADODB.Recordset Dim szConnect As String Dim szSQL As String
I currently have a macro that can be used by multiple spreadsheets. Is there that I can execute the macro within any specific spreadsheet without saving it in each spreadsheet. I just want to place it in a general spot so that in case there is modifications, I only have to change it in one place.
I need help with a macro that allows users to put only numbers from a range of 0 to 100 and the only text allowed must be "NA" in an Excel sheet. I know that I can protect the cells from being erased and all but my main issue is that my users are putting all kinds of text values instead of NA or numbers above 100 making my life harder than it is.
. Select all cells in the worksheet by clicking on the top left corner of the sheet.
. On the Format menu Click Cells.
. Click on the Protection tab.
. Uncheck the Locked and
Hidden check boxes, then click OK.
These four steps will make all cells in the worksheet unprotected and can therefor be modified. Next step is to protect the formula cells, and here is how we do it:
. Select all cells that have formulas.
. On the Format menu Click Cells.
. Click on the Protection tab.
. Check the Locked and Hidden check boxes, then click OK.
I have two option buttons on a user form, one for a temperature of <250 & one for a temperature >250. I want the option button >250 to be greyed out or have it so that you cannot choose it & option button <250 selected if a certain criteria in a list box is selected. The list box is called Valve_Model & the criteria i want it to work on is if the valve model HPBV Soft is selected & HPBV Soft AC.
I have a simple user form with 8 frames each containing four option buttons. I need a routine to validate that a each frame has had a single option button selected once a command button is clicked.
Here is the code I'm currently using but it isn't working correctlt.
Private Sub CommandButton2_Click() Dim Cnt As Integer Dim Ctrl As MSForms.Control Dim WS As Worksheet For Each Ctrl In Me.Controls
If TypeName(Ctrl) = "OptionButton" Then
If Ctrl.Value = False Then
MsgBox "Please answer ALL questions"
Exit Sub End If
Else MsgBox "Thankyou for completing the questionnaire"
is there a way to protect the userform fields or the userform as whole from other people entering date accept the person who has been given the privilege to enter data?
I have a userform with Option Buttons. I have them all initialized as deactivated except for one at a time as the user performs certain tasks (e.g. Create a new worksheet with the name "database"). Once each task is completed, the previously activated option button becomes deactivated and another option button becomes activated. That works fine. My problem now is that I can't change the default tab index settings to put the black dot next to the activated option button:
This doesn't seem to work:
Code: If Sheets("Database").Range("A1") vbNull Then Controls("OptionButton1").Enabled = False Controls("OptionButton1").TabIndex = 1 Controls("OptionButton2").Enabled = True Controls("OptionButton2").TabIndex = 0 End If
I have a userform with 5 listboxes on the first page, each with multiple options. They are all set up so any number of options can be chosen.
2 are populated by the 'add item' method, and the other 3 pull data from 3 columns of the database when it's initialised to ensure all possible options are included.
My question is this - as there may be many options in each listbox to scroll through, if someone wanted to search on all the options in the listbox, it would be easier to have a 'Select All' option at the top, but I have no idea if this is possible, let alone how to do this -
I have a userform that is used to search and display complaints in the complaint Database. I am trying to achieve following to make it professional:
1. Is it possible to provide users with their own username & password, so that I can give permission to certain users to enter their input. e.g. when a complaint is logged, the owner of the complaint (which will be allocated by me depending on the complaint Category) needs to enter his feedback into a field (a textbox) and close the complaint. I want to give this previlage only to 2-3 nominated users. Every other user will just be able to enter & view complaints.
2. Is is possible to colour code these. Just so that when a user does and a search and views any particular complaint, it will tell him whether that particular complaint is open or closed. So may be closed complaint can have a red complaint number and open ones have a green. Any other ideas for displaying this are also welcome.
