I want my macro to protect my sheet again after it is done to allow editing objects and formatting rows. I am really stuck and have come up with the below, but it isn't working.

I've a file which have multiple sheets say about 80 tabs are present. My colleague only works on one of the tab (sheet) enters data, that file is placed on our general sharing folder I want to know if it is possible that I can assign protection in such a way that when she enters her password she is able to input data only on the sheet in which she works and cannot roam around to other sheets?
Or is it possible that on first sheet there is username or password can appear? And if the data inputting person opens that file and enter her password option appear which can take her to that particular sheet? And if a guest open that file he/she can only view particular sheets which contain reports?
i have a spreadsheet that data is imported to from a different program. however the amount of rows of data will change from day to day. I need to be able to select this range of data before i run a macro on it.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a workbook that I would like to share and allow multiple users to add and make changes at the same time. However, the workbook is full of macros that really need to run. Is this possible? The workbook is written in excel 2003.
If this is not possible then is it possible to share the workbook in a similar fashion but not allow any other users to make changes, but update their workbook with the changes that I make?
I made a sheet to control some reports, and it works like this: you click a button ("Insert"), it opens a userform, you type everything there (date, serial number, client, city) and it place that info on the first row available. Then there's a "Clear Last Entry" button, and that's it.
I would like to protect the whole sheet and only allow users to insert new entries via the "Insert" button. How can I do this? If I protect normally Excel won't allow the VBA code to write on cells.
What i am trying to do: Create a login option to filter what worksheets each user can see. I need the users to be able to view 2 sheets not just 1. Also i need an admin login that can view all sheets. I want to keep the workbook protected so even though they can see and edit those two sheets they can only edit certain unlocked cells. Admin should be able to view/edit all cells on all sheets.

I have an event handler that runs a procedure when a user double clicks a cell. This procedure modifies the contents of this cell and other cells. I want the user to be able to select the cell so they can double click it, but I don't want them to be able to single click it and modify it by hand (accidentally or not). Is there a way to lock/unlock the contents of the cell without locking the cell itself?

The red color code is giving error message: Application defined or Object defined error.
Iam making some test report tamplet`s, in that when I select the material from drop down (ref enclosed xls file) all spec will be displayed. ·I want the sheet to be protected at the same time few cells to be allowed for data entry (cells marked with blue)· If sheet can`t be protected I want to hide the formulas and spec details used in it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running excel 2007 and I have 23 worksheets in a workbook. I have no links or hidden rows or colums. I have no merged cells or comments. My biggest sheet is A1:
AW8096. I use VB macros to add lines and move data from one set of workbooks to this one.
I have built several sheets using this proceedure.
All of a sudden I get the error "Cannot shift objects off sheet" when I run
a routine I have 50,000 times. This even happens on new blank sheet so I know its' not on the sheet.
I have checked to make sure there are no hidden comments, row or columns. I have deleted most of the worksheets and I still get the error. I have made copies of the workbook and used different file types to save it. I can create a new black sheet in the workbook that is empty and the same thing happens.
The only way I can get it to work is to creat a new blank workbook and copy and paste the sheets into the new workbook. Yes I have serched the FAQ and knowledge base and tried all of those fixes as well.
I have a sheet which has many columns in it, all columns are protected except column B. When I want to enter data always I have to insert a column in column B. When I clicked insert button, my B column move to C and B column become protected and C become unprotected. My query is always I want B column should be protected (even if i clicked on insert column button too).

Before I protect the sheet I have allowed users to edit ranges (Tools / Protection / Allow Users To Edit Ranges). I have made my selection of the cells that users are allowed to edit and protected the sheet. I now want to run a macro that will un-protect the sheet (in order to allow the macro to edit the protected cells) make some changes and then re-protect the sheet. The macro runs as it should do but when it stops I am unable to edit the cells that I allowed users to edit? For some reason the areas that I enabled users to edit have been changed allowing users to only edit far less cells that I originally set!

Not exactly what year of Microsoft Excel we have at work buts its between 2007 to 2010.
Doing our weekly KPI on a friday is super stressful and if there is a way so multiple users can edit the excel spreadsheet at the same time?
Because with our excel spreadsheet only one person can edit the document at a time very frustrating at the end of a day on a friday.
Is it just Microsoft not allowing more than one editor at a time?
I have a spreadsheet that is very large and formated a certain way. I want to make sure that a user cant put the cursor in the lower left corner and copy cells by dragging, copy & paste, or do anything other than input data and be able to highleght text and reinput data in case they mistyped or misspelled the data.
ex: user clicks on cell E33 and types in '1234568' and then move to next cell. The user can click back on E33 and can correct by retyping. That is all the user is allowed.
The cells in question are also in ranges if this helps. EX: 'E33:AJ67'
When you have 0 divided by 0 if there a way to show 0 instead of the div/o error message. The reason I want to know if that I have a spreadsheet for peoples efficiency during the week which feeds into another sheet to provide a monthly/yearly totals and who is the best and worst, but if there on holiday for a week or two the feed does not work as the error message does not allow the other sheet to calculate.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi want to do the following: initialize a sheet by showing form1, which accepts user input for rows and cols name a range on the sheet of size rows x cols display form2 which is just a "DONE" button that they click when they're finished pause/stop the macros and allow the user to fill in values for that range start up some other macros when they press the "DONE" button.
i tried it and found that when you display a form it locks the sheet (can't select the sheet to input values) and you can't even alt tab away from the form. is there a way around this?
Is it possible to use the userform when it is protected and shared.
I am able to access when it is protected. but unable to access when that protected worksheet is shared.runtime error message " unprotect method sheet class failed" appears it is shared and used.I have already raised this [b]issue in the forum.I understood from the answers that it is not possible.

I need help with a macro that allows users to put only numbers from a range of 0 to 100 and the only text allowed must be "NA" in an Excel sheet. I know that I can protect the cells from being erased and all but my main issue is that my users are putting all kinds of text values instead of NA or numbers above 100 making my life harder than it is.

However once the macro is run, filtering will not work without unprotecting the sheet first. If you choose not to run the macro, filtering will work without unprotecting the sheet however the outline feature will not. what I need to add and where to make both the outline and filter features to work without having to unptotect the sheet?
So I'm creating a grid worksheet for engineering calculations and I have a couple questions about the best way to do it. I've been messing with excel for my calcs for about a decade now, and I every once in a while I try and improve them.
First: I will have several input areas that will either be colored text or shaded background (either works for me). I don't want these 'input required' objects to print as color, just black. But I want my logo at the sheet top to print as color. I've only found ways to not print any color. Can I print the logo as color and the 'input required' stuff as black?
Second: When I do calcs by hand, I write them out on 10x10 grid paper. Each 10x10 grid is one inch. In the past I've created this grid out of the cells, which works. I frequently need to change formulas around though, and each time I do this, I end up needing to mess with the grid cells also. Is there a way to create the grid and have it in the background so it doesn't need to be adjusted each time I change formulas? I wan't the grids to print, and also want to see them on the screen, as I sometimes draw simple objects along with the formulas.
I have a sheet that is password protected. I have this code attached to a command button. It will unlock the worksheet, autofilter it, print it, unfilter it, and password protect the sheet again. However it is protecting it without a password. I need to have it protected with the password so that someone will not be able to just go to tools to unprotect the sheet.

I have a Master sheet linked with another worksheets with formula.
Now I want to insert 1 column in between , and when trying to insert the column in it a message sowing that " Cannot Shift Objects of Sheet"
Why this error shwoing and how can i insert any column in it.
I have a big macro that runs in everyone's PC except mine. Once I debug it, it shows that it stocked at copying the objects from a template sheet to another sheet. When I try doing it manually, I still can not copy the objects to another sheet. It copies the sheet but except the objects in it. Is it related to my settings?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a database that lets me add columns and do the required vlookups however, when I filter with a particular rule it throws the 'Cannot Move Objects Off the Sheet' error. Also, I cannot see any rows beyond row number 4316 - could this be the reason for the error?
Under 'Advanced' options, I've gone to 'Display options for this workbook' and chosen the 'All; option under 'For Objects show', however, I'm stick not getting anywhere

How can I enable "Edit Objects" with this? I want the user to be able to edit comments as well. I am NOT looking to do this by checking the box when I protect a sheet; this effect is gone once the book is opened again, and the above macro runs.
doesnt work when recording a macro because the group name changes each time I group the pictures (visios) and the picture names change depending on what is on the sheet at the time.
Is there a way to group every picture on a sheet1 (excluding macro buttons), then copy them to sheet 2?
I'm trying to hide a few columns on my spreadsheet. I'm getting a "cannot shift objects off sheet" error message 2010 Excel program. I never had trouble with my 2003 excel.
There are no comments on this sheet, 'Display options for this workbook' already says all. I do have macro buttons on the top... but changed them all to move and size with cells.
I know how to protect a sheet and unlock some cells, but how can I lock the format of ALL cells while still allowing users to enter information? Ifve been instructing people to Paste Special  Values, but of course itfs more difficult. For example, Ifd like to protect a sheet but allow cells B2:C2 to be editable in value only – NOT in format. I tried searching the forum for a solution but was unable to find anything.
