Add Macro To Call Subs Depending On Cell Value

May 16, 2014

I am trying to add a macro to the ACCT DATA sheet, which calls one of two subs (AddCarriertoChecklist() - or - ClrPolChList() located in seperate modules). The macro should call them depending on whether "X" is entered in a cell in column "E". The issue lies in that I have macros doing a few things to this sheet already, and I am unable to tie this one in.

I have the two subs (AddCarriertoChecklist() - or - ClrPolChList()) working. I just can't seem to get them called. This small bit is how I was attempting to call them.

[Code] ......

Below is how I currently have it tied in with the rest of the code for this sheet:

[Code] .....

What is it that I am missing?

Call Multiple Subs

Jul 28, 2007

Calling a Sub from another Sub is quite common, how about a Sub that does nothing else but call all the subs to execute the entire job?

Will the subs run sequentially after one completes, or will there be the likley hood they will bump into each other causing all sorts of chaos.

Call Group Of Data Under Defined Name Depending On Value Of Cell?

Feb 13, 2013

I have several blocks of data that I have defined under several names to make data processing much easier when writting formulas. They problem that I have right now is that depending on the value of one cell, I need to call up a given defined name block of data to be used on the calculations. These blocks are labeled as DATA400, DATA500, ... user will input information that will allow me to determined what block needs to be used, user will input data like 400, 500, ..., but to be able to call a block of data I need to reference the complete label DATA400. I have tried to concatenate "DATA" to whatever value is input by the user and use the concatenated value to call the specific blocks of information but it doesnt work.

Call Macro On Any Value Being Entered In A Cell

Oct 23, 2007

I'm trying to create a macro that will check that an Swedish corporate identification number (CIN) is correct. Swedish CIN conist of 10 numbers and are always written 123456-7890. The last number is a control digit to see if the CIN is correct. I've managed to get the macro working but I am not able to get it to work automatically. that is I want the macro to start running immediately after you have entered a companys CIN. In my template you are supposed to enter the CIN in cell A1, and I want the macro to check that immedately when you have pressed "enter". I can not get it to work. the macro works when I do it manually, that is Tools>Macro>Macro..>Run. I've read all about it here but I guess I just don't get it

Prevent Subs From Appearing On Alt+F8 Macro List

Aug 6, 2008

I have an add-in that I'm passing around to my users, and though it has 8 or 9 subs, it only has 2 that they need to see. However, I'd rather not relegate all of the code to a single module, as there is quite a bit of it. I'm aware that I could change all the subs to functions, but they would still appear in the UDF list, and this would also be confusing to the individual responsible for the upkeep of these macros (and I'd have to rework the code a little bit).

I'm just asking if there is any direct way to do this, before I go to the trouble of making a lesser workaround. Google seems to think no, but "don't show macros in list" isn't a very solid search.

Call Or Go Back To Macro After User Action Such As Clicking In A Cell

Sep 27, 2012

I am about to write a small macro to do a iteration calculation. I would like though for the user to select me a cell so that the macro uses the value in that cell to start calculations. Now, what I think would be the problem is how do I code a "time" or notice an action such as clicking in a cell to continue with the macro.

Would it be by inserting a pause in the code of a certain time so that gives the user time to click and wait for the code to start? If so, how would much time is enough? Is there another thing that could restart the code such as "noticing a click in a cell" command in VBA?

Automatically Call Macro Based On Changed Cell Address & Text

Apr 13, 2009

I have the following code pasted into the worksheet module which used to work fine but no longer does. I didn't touch the code, it just stopped working.

Private Sub WorkSheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Select Case Target.Address
Case "$A$16"
Select Case Target
Case "Custom Color 1": Call CustomColorInput1
Case "Custom Color 2": Call CustomColorInput1
Case "Custom Color 3": Call CustomColorInput1
Case "Custom Color 4": Call CustomColorInput1
Case Else:
End Select
Case "$A$17"
Select Case Target
Case "Custom Color 1": Call CustomColorInput2
Case "Custom Color 2": Call CustomColorInput2
Case "Custom Color 3": Call CustomColorInput2
Case "Custom Color 4": Call CustomColorInput2
Case Else:
End Select
Case "$A$18"

CustomColorInput 1-6 are the same except they input data into different cells F16-F21.

When I attach any of the CustomColorInput macros to a button it works fine. When I try to call it from the worksheet module, the data input box pops up but the data doesn't get entered into the cell. When I try to step through the CustomColorInput macros using F8, the input box pops up, I enter data and press ok. Then I continue with F8 and the debugger jumps to a custom function that I entered (below), which is not called for and is in no way related to the code.

Function PullAfterLast(rCell As Range, strLast As String)
PullAfterLast = Mid(rCell, InStrRev(rCell, strLast) + 1, 256)
End Function

When I close VBA, the data that I typed into the data input box is in the correct cell.

So basically, I'm getting three different responses from the offending code depending on how I call it up. Can anyone tell me what's going on?

More generally, in this and previous occasions, I've had problems with macros that cease to work for no reason that is apparent to me. What are some things that would cause a macro to stop working, without actually changing the code (other than the obvious, like referring to names or worksheets etc. that don't exist anymore)?

Macro - Selecting Row Depending On Cell Value

Mar 8, 2013

The purpose of the excel sheet is hour administration. In the first page you fill in which group it is about, what week it is about and the amount of hours to change.

There are several other sheets named after the group that are filled with some kind of agenda.

An example: I want to make a change to the amount of hours group X will be there in week 3. I fill out the 3 columns (Group, Week, Hours) and hit a button. It should now check those 3 columns for data and modify the hours for the correct group. It is not done yet but I'm running into a problem already, the function I use to find the row with the correct weeknumber in the Group sheet returns wrong numbers and I don't know why.

VB:
Private Sub CommandButton2_Click()

Dim Week As Integer
Dim WeekRow As Long
Dim Groep As String
Dim Uur As Integer

[Code] ....

What I am expecting to happen is this: It checks A1, B1 and C1, selects the correct sheet, executes the function FindRowByValue (the week number is in column B) and fills Week Row with the result, then returns to the original sheet, gives a debug message and repeats this 5 times.

The debug message shows that the Week Row is not returning the row with the week number I filled in but instead returns either the week number itself (so if I wanted to find week 5 it returns a 5, while week 5 is in row 28), or a different number that is incorrect.

Macro Disabled Depending On Cell Value

Sep 24, 2009

I was wondering if it is possible to prevent a macro from running depending on what value is in a specified cell.

I have a huge excel sheet and a commandbutton that runs a bunch of macros in order to generate a report.

I want to force the user to select a specific project before all the macros are run. Just making the report for a specific project only takes a few seconds but if no project is selected then it runs throught the whole database and it takes forever.

I have set up a cell that changes value depending on wether a project is selected or not. I have placed the cell in the -ForMacros- sheet. Now is it possible to write some code into the commandbutton that halts the report generation + displays a warning box telling the user to select a project first?

What values used to determine wether the macro runs or not doesnt matter to me. Whatever is easier for you

I have attached a sample workbook for you to work on.

Cell Shading Macro Depending On Text

May 30, 2008

I will have a spreadsheet similar to the image provided. Basically, I need the macro to go row by row down column I. If the cell in column I contains the word "Tech" I need the cells from column B to P to be shaded color1; if it contains "Update," color 2; if the cell is blank; leave the cell as is. Once the macro has done this, it will continue to the next row and to the same check.

The number of rows in the spreadsheet will change on a day-to-day basis depending on the data that's pulled, but the columns should remain the same.

So I think I have the shading part. This is what I have so far. I'm not sure if this is the most efficient way of coding it, but it kinda works. I guess another problem would be if in the future the column with this info (column I) changes and shifts.

Split Up Huge Macro Using Call Macro But Pivot Table Code Errors Out?

Jul 10, 2012

I'm using a CALL Macro to split up a HUGE macro into different pieces:

Code:
Sub RSLDASHBOARDV2()
'Macro recorded 12/14/2010 by Ryan R. Koleno, Pharm.D.
'Last Updated 7/10/12 by Ryan R. Koleno, Pharm.D.
'Do Not Modify Code Unless Given Proper Privileges to do so.
Dim APPSPD As Worksheet
With Application
.ScreenUpdating = False
.Calculation = xlCalculationManual

[code]...

The first few macros dealing with page setup and what not work fine but when it hits the Pivot table code for the STATSPIVOT macro it errors out stating: "Run-time error '1004': Unable to get the PivotItems property of PivotField class' at this point in the code:

Code:
objField2.PivotItems( _
"TRC").Position = 1
objField.PivotItems( _
"MEDCO MAIL OR AOB").Position = 2

When this macro is not split up it worked fine as written. Am I overlooking something in the Call Macro's code or is there a variable I'm not aware of. I have included the Pivot Table code that errors out as well.

Code:
Sub STATSPIVOT()
'STATS PAGE BASED ON STATS DATA TAB
Sheets("STATS DATA").Select
Dim objTable As PivotTable, objField As PivotField
ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("STATS DATA").Select
Range("A1").Select

Lookup Function Call: Vlookup Call In Sheet

May 21, 2006

I have a work book with 3 sheets. Sheet 1 is the main sheet and sheets 2 and 3 will use (I hope vlookup) to update 3 columns from info in sheet 1. my attempt at a vlookup call in sheet 2 is: =VLOOKUP($b3,[master_AoJ_2.xls]Sheet1!$B$3;$B$65,false)

my understanding is that: - $b3 is the cell in sheet 2 that will be updated as a result of the vlookup call. - [master_AoJ_2.xls]Sheet1!$B$3;$B$65 refers to range $B$3:$B$65 on sheet1 of master_AoJ_2. it does not work... infact I get nothing at all. when I type the call into cell $b3 of sheet2 excel thinks it is stariaght text. this is how I coded the function call =VLOOKUP($b3,[master_AoJ_2.xls]Sheet1!$B$3;$B$65,false)

Call From Within Macro Script Sub In Another Xla Add-in?

Jun 25, 2014

I am trying to write a sub that executes a sub in an xla add-in. How can that be done in general?

More specifically I am wondering whether it can be done with the limited info that I have about the add-in and the to be executed macro within the add-in.

assume the name of the xla add-in is test.xla. The add-in is locked. I therefore do not know the name of the sub to be executed nor do I know the "on action" name of the sub in the ribbon. All I have is the Ribbon button label. Assume the ribbon button label is "ButtonLabel".

Is it possible to call the macro just by knowing the ribbon button label? If yes, how does the script look like assuming the above xla and button name?
