Adding Minutes To Numerical Value?
Dec 8, 2012In block K5 I have the value 16. In block L5 I would like to turn that value into 16:58. How would I do this?

View 5 RepliesUnsurprisingly I have a spreadsheet:
Column D contains the total hours that a component has been installed for
Column C contains the additional hours the component acquired
I need the total of these 2 sets of time added together to give me the new hours that the component has acquired. All cells have been formatted [h]:mm:ss
I attach an extract of the spreadsheet. At the moment the values in column D are all calculated manually. When I add the values together Excel returns #Value!
The annoying thing is that in cells B2 and A3 I tested this and can do this with no problem...the value in B3 is the sum of B2 and A3.
i don't know why this one stumps me but it does. I have a production schedule which shows how many hours and minutes are remaining for a given production run, i.e. 6.4 or 3.2. i want to do two things with these values. 1) add the 6.4 to the current time, something like a1 + now(0) to get the time the production run should end.
and
2) i want to add the number of minutes from a calculation to the current time, ie. 10:14 AM + 122 minutes = actual time the production ends. Nothing i do seems to give a desired result - including formatting the cell to any variation of the time format - including custom.
In one of the spreadsheets there is a need to have a 'action at' field.
This is the next five minute time slot between 5 and 10 minutes in the future (eg 10.51 -> 11.00 , 1.56 ->2.05 etc)
If i have a start time of 5:00 am and a finishing time of 4:25 pm, what function do i use to get the total time of 11 hours & 25 minutes?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am trying to add duration time for song files. 4 minutes and 32 seconds + 3 minutes 45 seconds, etc. etc. to get total hours and then to total to days. The range of cells is over 5,000 and I am trying to find out how long a playlist will play.
I import via copy paste into excel from a timekeeping programme the following time I have worked each day, as an example:
Mon 7h 55m
Tues 6h 30m
Wed 7h 24m
etc
Is there a method of changing this in excel to work out the number of minutes I have worked each day? The timekeeping programme does not let me alter any parameters, so h & m is what I have.
I have a spread sheet with a colum showing average time to complete a task. This is currently shown as Days:Hours:Minutes:Seconds (4:19:33:19). I meed it to be shown purely as minutes, or at least as hours and minutes.

I'm trying to convert 3786 minutes to day:hours:minutes. So divided it by 1440 which is 2.63... but I want this displayed in the worksheet as 2 days 1 hour and 3 minutes (02:01:03), I just can't seem to get it to work and it seems quite simple... but I'm missing something.... I was trying a custom format like dd:hh:mm or [d]:hh:mm and I was also trying a convert function and =day/1440+hour +minute

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a column of times: e.g. 10:03:00 and I would like to add them all up.
=A1+A2 works fine.
=sum(A1:A10) does not.
I've got a problem involving several Dim'd Variables needing to be added up, they're all Dim'd as Variants though as they can be either strings or numbers at any time.
I need a formula (VBA) to add them up (to add their actual numeric values - not just a "1" if they contain a number) and ignore them all together if they contain string values.
I have a userform that I'm using to add data to a worksheet, with the following
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Dim OutSH As Worksheet
Set OutSH = Sheets("Sheet1")
OutSH.Cells(nextrow2, 1).Value = Surname.Value
OutSH.cells(nextrow2,2).value = ID.value
OutSH.cells(nextrow2,3).value = Date.value
......
I need to ensure that duplicate entries are not made for the same person on the same date. The ID is unique to each person.
IF statement that can check for a duplicate and then come up with a dialouge box with some custom text, and then exiting the sub?
I have been searching to see if it's possible to create a histogram with non-numerical data and it doesn't seem like it's possible. Is there something similar where I can. Count number of occurrences of a string and organize them from most frequent to less frequent? There are about 60 possible strings.
e.g.
ABCDEFGHIJ
1ddhykygghd
2jlqqwertya
3ukhghjklzx
4tukyuuiioa
5xypyjkkadh
Then output the counts of each of the strings (letters in this case) present. I was thinking of just putting them in the same row or column and manually counting, but it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult have it automated.
The worksheet looks like following:
A1=350; B1= ; C1=-350
a.The forumula in C1 was =A1-B1
b. B1 was blank
c. I had to enter the formula in B1?
What formula goes on B1?
Is there an equivalent of =rank for non-numerical data? If not, is it possible to sort data (into another column if necessary) alphabetically without resorting to a macro?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a spreadsheet and I want the letter "E" to have a numerical value of zero, and not necessarily in just place as my sheet will be regularly updated. If you're a fan of golf, you will understand what I am doing. I'm basically making a custom leader board for a fantasy golf game that I'm doing, and I'd like for the letter E to represent the value of zero when I am adding up the scores.
For example
A1: -1
A2: -3
A3: 4
A4: E
A5: -2
A6: 3
A7: 3
A8: -5
Total: -11 (have a formula set up to only count the best 4 scores).
I want to be able to add up those columns, and since only the lowest 4 scores count, I need E to equal zero. I get that I could just put 0 there, so I'm being a little picky (in golf E represents Even par, essentially a value of zero for the purposes of this game). There are 20+ teams in the game so I need E to be recognized as zero in each of those fields.
I have a column of dates (2007, 2006, 2005 etc...) and a column of data ranging from "unsatisfied" to "very satisfied". I want a formula to provide, for example, the total number of occurences of "very satisfied" in "2006".
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis should be easy but after searching "consolidate" all that I could find was multiple sheets and complex questions.

I have Cell B1 = 6 on a worksheet named DOC. On Cell B3 of worksheet Week 1 it has "Celina". Is there a way that if Cell B1 in DOC has number 6, Cell B3 on Week 1 will automatically become Celina. All worksheets are in the same workbook.Likewise if Cell B1 ever has any of the following numbers, cell B3 in Week 1 will display the corresponding alphanumeric.
1 = Troy
2 = Piqua
3 = Urbana
4 = Grnvl
6 = Celina
I'm trying to streamline my spreadsheet a bit. Sometime last year I managed to use the formula found (on the attached file) in cell K4 to assign a numerical value to a lettered grade. However, it's been a year or so since I thought about it and so I've completely forgotten how to edit it to make it more appropriate for this spreadsheet!
Essentially what I'm trying to do is a workaround for what I've already done in columns E and F: I'm trying to show the difference between two grades (letters) as a numerical value. Is there a way to do this, or is the VLOOKUP work around I've used in columns E and F going to be the simplest way?
I need to write a macro that compares the numerical value of 2 cells and give me a result as described below:
All the numbers would be either whole numbers or whole numbers + 0.5
Example 1:
The two values are both whole numbers then no action is taken.
Cell A = 5
Cell B = 5
or
Cell A = 7
Cell B = 5
Result = No action taken..................
I need help figuring a way to show what I have left on a spreadsheet. Please see the following thread with attachments in them.

I'm attempting to require a numerical entry in a cell using data validation. The function =AND(ISNUMBER(cell),NOT(ISBLANK(cell))) does not perform as intended. Unchecking "Ignore Blank" has no effect. The ISNUMBER function evaluates to TRUE on a blank cell. When used outside of data validation, NOT(ISBLANK(cell)) evaluates to FALSE on a blank cell, making me think the AND(...) function should be sufficient.
Valid entries are any number, including 0.
Can this be done without VB?
