The master data table consists of formula columns, data columns, and two data columns with drop-down list validation.

Is there a way to apply a custom validation rule to a drop down field in Excel (which itself is already using a validation rule)? Here is what I wish to do: I have a range of cells that can only pick up values from a list. I want to further apply a custom validation rule to these cells - display an error message when one chooses an element from the list that has already been used by another cell in the range.

I'm building some work life balance spreadsheets for employees to show satisfaction levels / hours etc...
For the satisfaction piece - users will enter a value between 0 and 5 with 5 = happy as larry and 0 = ready to quit. Next to this field is a comments box. This comments box only needs to be populated (from a data validation list) if the staff are unhappy.
I need the file to prevent users entering a value less than 3.99 without selecting a comment from the validation list. Users will go into the file and update for their own lines so the check can be written into the save function maybe???

I'm using the code below to create sheets and copy pertinent data for each value found in column O on my data sheet.
Code:
Sub CreateSheets()
Dim WBO As Workbook
Dim ThisWS
[Code]....
What I'm now trying to do, is apply a formula for each cell, in columns C:N for each newly created sheet. The formula is 'The value of 100 minus the value of the cell'.
I've tried adding
Code:
cell.Value = 100 - cell.Value
to differing points of the script but I recieve a 'Type mismatch error.

I have a drop down list that shows phrases for different math functions, like "divide by 2," "divide by 4," divide by 8," etc. When one of these items is selected, I want it to perform that specific calculation on a range of nearby cells.
However, I also want the user to be able to see the original value of the cells if they select "show original value" from the drop down list.
I have attached a workbook as an example. I think macro would probably work best.

I'm looking for the least amount of code to apply a border around every cell in a selected range. The standard With Selection approach is to go through six times for the sides, top, bottom, and insides, which results in a lot of code.
I attempted a single code line approach (Selection.Borders.LineStyle = xlContinuous), but I cannot seem to influence the color or thickness of the line. I'm not looking for fancy here...standard xlThin in black color is all I need.

I am trying to apply data validation to a column of cells using named ranges. However, each row has a unique associated named range. For example:
A_______B
Birds____*
Dogs____*
Cats____*
I can easily apply data validation to these three rows separately using named ranges.
Ie three separate named ranges:
=Birds
=Dogs
=Cats
However, I need a way to quickly apply data validation to column B using different named ranges for each row because there are about 2,000 rows. Is there a way to reference text in the cells of column A that contains the name of the named range? Or maybe a bit of VB code that could do it quickly?

Copy and paste the formula into a range or paste a formula into the first cell in the range and autofill down for remainder of cells?
P.S. when autofilling down, can I specify somehow for it to stop at the last row with data in adjacent cell?

My Table has a data validation list in one row of a table. And different formulas in different rows.
The Table is expanded only into columns. Which means, there will be no new rows...only columns will be added.
If we enter text into the header cell in a new column, the whole new column gets formatted, but the list and formulas do not auto fill into new columns.
Of course an easy way is to copy and paste a column...but is there a way to auto fill lists and formulas into columns of the table? Similar to how the rows get autofilled?

I am attempting to have cells in Column 'U' deliver different drop-down menus based on the corresponding value in column 'D'. I have created 7 named lists:
List_117G
List_152
List_JMET
List_XBAND
List_PACWIND
List_VORTEX
List_ROVER
Those lists will be called up based on 7 values in column “D”:
“G”
“152”
“J”
“X”
“D/E”
“V”
“R”
So far I have only been able to get this to work for the first category “G”. When I change the value of column “D” from “G” to “152” I no longer get a drop-down. Here is the formula I am using in the List function of validation.
=IF(D6="G",List_117G,IF(D6="152",List_152,IF(D6="J",List_JMET,IF(D6="X",List_XBAND,
IF(D6="D/E",List_PACWIND,IF(D6="V",List_VORTEX,IF(D6="R",List_ROVER,)))))))

I want to be able to use the ability to drag-copy the cell contents from the little square in the bottom-right of the cell, but cannot do this when there is a validation drop-down list!!

I have a spreadsheet with two drop downs, one lets say has country and the other city. When I select a country in the country drop down, I want to be able to only select cities in that country.
I used a method that I found in an earlier post, where I define the name of list of cities of a country to that country and then use the indirect function in city dropdown down validation. The prolem is I can still get mismatched city and country because when I change country, I still have the city from the previous selection untill I drop down and select the city again.
I would like the city to show blank when I change the country until I select a city from that country.

I named a range State, it contains a list of all the US state abbreviations. I do a data validation that refers to this range as a List. If I type in something that's not in the named range I get the error message I created for the Validation.
But - I don't get a drop down button. I tried to do the same validation on another cell and get the same thing. Other drop downs for validation appear.

I have a list for the user to enter in creditor name, balance, monthly payment and interest rate. In the credior name portion, I have used a Data Validation List (drop down menu of bank names) for the user to choose from.
Later on... The user types in the customers ACTUAL bank acount that they will be making payments from.
If the user types in a bank that is the same as one from the drop down list earlier on, I would like a dialog box to come up with further instructions.

I have 2 validation boxes. The first is a simple list of 5 options (based on
a 'name' range). The second is a filter of a larger list depending on the
answer in the first box. I have made my 'name' range as big as the largest
list but other lists are quite short. The problem I have it that the drop
down box is showing all the blank cells in my 'name' range.
The bigger problem is that when you select the pull down it highlights the
blank field first instead of the first item on the list so you have to scroll
up. This is a problem as staff think there is nothing on the list. So how do
I either not show the blanks or get the drop down to start at the top of the
list?
