Auto Save Sheet To PDF Macro Not Working When Transferred From Win XP To 7
Jun 3, 2014
I'm fairly new to macros but somehow i managed to create all the required macros for my project through googling and the like. The problem is that i created my macro enabled excel file in XP and when i transferred it to Windows 7 the auto save to PDF macro stopped working with the Runtime Error '5' Invalid Procedure, call or Argument. The highlighted error is as follows.
ActiveSheet.ExportAsFixedFormat _
Type:=xlTypePDF, _
FileName:="C:WindowsTemp emporaryexam.pdf", _
Quality:=xlQualityStandard, _
IncludeDocProperties:=True, _
IgnorePrintAreas:=False, _
OpenAfterPublish:=True
This auto save is supposed to work when a hyperlink is clicked or when the set time runs out (Working Macro).

I have the following code, it moves a row of data to another sheet based on a certain in the status column.
When the row is copied over to the other sheet, I would like when it pastes the data in to UNHIDE the row. This is due to the fact that at the current time all of the sheets have rows that are hidden unless there is data in them.
Is it possible you could add the unhide feature?

I have a macro to export two worksheets and save as, but the save as part will not work, it just exports to Book1.
Ive checked the directory and everything is fine.
I want the value of a cell in one of the exported worksheet to be included in the save as name.
I'm just wondering if the code needs to somehow specify the worksheet to get the cell value from or will it default to the first worksheet. but either way my code is still not working and i can't tell why.
Should i just create a seperate macro for the save as?
Here is the ...

I am using Excel 2010 and need to get the totals for each month transfered to a separate sheet. For example;
One sheet is called Outgoings (which has all the receipts entered chronologically in rows and apportioned in the columns) and the other sheet tracks the cost per month of each column.
I found a formula online and adapted it to this;
=SUMPRODUCT((Outgoings!$A$5:$A$1000>=41000)*(Outgoings!$A$5:$A$1000

I have a wierd issue. I have this macro for a workbook i use and if i run the macro in the first tab it runs and works fine. When i select the other tab and run it it gives me a debug error. If i close the worksheet save it and reopen it and run it in the other tab it runs fine.
So in otherwords i have to run the macro in the tab desired, save it , and always close and reopen the file to run it in the other tabs. I know the code is correct because it runs flawlessly without errors but i must be missing something.
Also i currently have the macro to run on the active tab/worksheet. Can i have it run on multiple tabs? i have 15 20 and 30 tabs in this example file but in my real file i have many more milage intervals ( some tabs i would not want to select ). It gets tedious having to select one tab at a time, run the macro, rinse and repeat.
For Example Run Macro First, in the first tab. It works perfectly. Go to the second tab and run the first macro. It gives a debug error. If you save the file and reopen it and go to teh second tab and run the macro again it works.

I am trying to make a save&close workbook macro.
I found several examples on google, but unfortunatly it conflicts with another macro I use for forceing users to enable macros (hide all sheets except one if macros are disabled).
The attached file is an example contaning the save&close code and the show/hide sheets depending on macros enabled.
If the file is opened with macros disabled then only one sheet will be visible.
If the file is opened with macros enabled other sheets are visible.
The problem if that this code uses a custom save, witch makes the save&close not save... (in module1 and in ThisWorkbook)
The pourpose of the save&close is to make sure some users don't forget the excel open and thus block access to it. So if a certain idele time passes excel has to save and close without any confirmation messages.

I am using one spread sheet to store date that gets updated throughout the day and am pulling information form that sheet to another file. I need to save it to get the current data and I don't want to rely on the person entering data to remember to save. The sheet I want to save is called Log.

I have found some posts about "Auto Saving" and Dave pretty much frowns upon that. But the program I use (via ODBC), for some reason doesn't see the changes I make unless the file is saved. I have it auto-saving right now, but was thinking, maybe it is better to export a copy.
What I would need, is the ability to take my current workbook and export it to a new file (overwriting that same file each time), and do this based on time or (even better) on a change in the data. My current workbook is set to pull from other CSV files, scraping our website, etc., and then I use Excel to format the data the way I want.
It would be cool, if I could export two versions each time too... one that would be like a archive of what the file was like when it changed, the other would be the one that just gets overwritten each time.
Love this site...tons of info...but dang am I not smart at this stuff. Half the time, I don't even get where to put the code...worksheet, module, workbook?

Is It Possible To Auto Save To A File Via A Macro?
What I Want To Do Is To Auto Save Directly To A Folder On Our System Via A Macro.
The Problem Is That Firstly It Will Need To Look Up A Cell ( D8 ) To Find Out The Job Number
Then It Will Have To Find The Folder On Our System ( Its On Desktop Under Job File Folder ) Then Comes The Hard Bit It Will Need To Locate That Job Number ( Cell D8 ) To Look Up The Relevant Folder To Put It In. All The Job Files Are Labelled Up Eg.( J2663 - Parry ) Then In That Folder Is A Sub Folder Called Docs Which It Needs To Be Saved In

I have written a macro which opens a worksheet, performs various operations on it, and closes it again. The problem is that upon close, two separate dialogue boxes appear - one asking me if I want to save, the other asking me if I want to keep what I have copied in the clipboard.
Is there a way of answering these dialogue boxes (or suppressing them) from withint he macro, so I do not need to manually click on Yes or No each time the macro is run?

I have certain cells which I want the formulas hidden to the end user and protected so they can't update them.
I've locked and hidden these cells and protected the sheet however my Macro's fail to work thereafter.
Protect the sheet for the user interface only. This has to be done in VBA:
- Activate the sheet.
- Activate the Visual Basic Editor (Alt+F11).
- Activate the Immediate window (Ctrl+G).
- Type
ActiveSheet.Unprotect
- Press Enter.
- Type
ActiveSheet.Protect UserInterfaceOnly:=True
- Press Enter.
The sheet is now protected for the end user, but VBA code can freely manipulate it.This works well however when I go to another page and do the same it stops working on the original sheet.I would like to know if there is an easy way to:
protect/unprotect all sheets in one go and have the macros still work?
When I protect pages individually I want the following to be allowed:
Select unlocked/locked cells
Format
Sort
Use autofilter
use pivottable
I will first save which cells are un/locked & hidden.

I have two sheets and need information from Sheet titled Add-Del_chng positions to be moved to the sheet titled Cost Distribution.The issues here are :
1. The values in Cells A through J should be moved only if col Z value is 'hard coded"
2. The values should be moved to the 13th row.
3. This should happen every time the value is input into col Z of sheet titled add_del_chng.
Currently the macro does not run unless I go into the code and press play. I need this to happen automatically.

I am working on Excel 2000. I am creating a protected worksheet which will have conditional formatting and validation on manual input cells (formatted to light yellow). I want to make sure that people do not accidently forget and paste data into those cells. I read up on solutions from this thread; [url] and most of it seems to be more complex than what I needed (and I couldn't get it to work)
I copied some code from this website post
[url] to my worksheet.
It works fine if the Validation criteria is set up simultaneously (i.e. it's all the same) but does not work if the columns have different validation criteria. How can I modify it to work under those conditions? I have included two workbooks, one in which the val critieria is identical (and it works) and one in which it varies between columns (and it doesn't work). I also noted that if I modify the one that doesn't work to make it homogenious, it still doesn't work unless I go back and highlight all and reformat that way.

I am trying to create a transfer of data from one worksheet to another, where Column G is where new data will be entered. I have a macro to sort the data (works great!!), but it is just getting it from one worksheet to another without having formulas in the cells - which can be deleted by my co-workers - to pull the data from one sheet to another.
I do not know if this can be done automatically or not, or if info is updated on one worksheet vs another - if then it will transfer the text.
Example:
(A2)LAST NAME (B2)1ST NAME (C2)RES# (D2)HOUSE (E2)DOB (F2)JOB (G2)SPECIAL
(A3)DOE (B3)JOHN (C3)112233 (D3)1 A2 L (E3)10/10/75 (F3)YES (G3)DR APPT
There are over 300 entries - one row new record. The CommandButton1 works great that I have for compiling and deleting unused rows.
But now I need something to get the data to the blank worksheet to compile data from Column G without formulas in the cells. This was one I found online, tried to adjust it to fit what I need, but I cannot get it to work.
Sub CopyRow(ByRef Target As Range)
Dim DstEnd As Range
Dim DstRng As Range
[Code].....

I've been searching for code that will perform the following:
1. Save the current workbook then,
2. Save the current sheet as a tab delimited file to the desktop with the same name as the current workbook then,
3. Return to .xlsx file format
The file saved to the desktop can be overwritten each time the macro is run.

*Inserts an existing worksheet template and places it at the end (or after all) the existing worksheets.
What I would like the macro to also do is:
*Automatically rename the inserted worksheet (via my worksheet template) in sequence to the existing worksheets
Example: So let's say I have 3 existing worksheets titled Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3 (that's basically the default naming Excel uses). But would when I insert a new worksheet (via my worksheet template) it is shown as Sheet. And if I insert another one, it would be Sheet (2). So basically it is showing as such:
Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3, Sheet, Sheet (2)
What I would like the macro to do is automatically rename those last 2 worksheets (and any subsequent worksheets thereafter) in sequential order. Basically displaying it as such:
Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3, Sheet4, Sheet5...(and so on and so forth)

I am trying to sort a macro out to save my sheet the same as the original when the button is clicked. When i try it from one location it is fine but from another location i get a print error, the error says prit quality is not right, when i debug it highlights: Print Quality = 600 I have tried changing it but keep getting the same error. Their maybe an easier way to do this but not being very good on VB i dont know what to do. This file is on a server and will be accessed from different locations.
