Automatically Create List / Table From Data That Changes Often
May 30, 2013
I have a client list/table that gets new data each day. (ALL) - see file
I need to create separate lists/tables on new sheets from the main data sheet (ALL) base on certain conditions/criteria...
On the (ID) sheet I need all the clients that have ID numbers to display, on the (Reg no) sheet I need all the clients with Reg numbers to display... etc.
Like I said that the main data sheet grows each day and the lists/tables on the other sheets needs to automatically include all the new clients that's entered.
Is there a way to do this using formulas or do I need code to do this?
I have a list of names in column A, and want to automatically create worksheets within this same workbook based on the list.
List of values: Dairy NI Dairy SI Sheep and Beef Equine Sports Turf Water Industry Horticulture Services Production Horticulture Other Agriculture
Therefore, a macro or coding to automatically create 9 spreadsheets named as per this list.... My list is approximately 50+ hence inquiring if there is an easier way!
I have a spreadsheet that lists dates in row 6, columns V through BE. We use these dates to log attendance for kids, so under each date there may be one of many symbols, such as "x" if the student was there. I would like to create a list of the dates that meet one of two criteria: either blank or containing "WR". So, let's say column Z is blank and Y has "WR" in it. In column FB I would like a list of all of the dates that were blank or WR, so I would want the dates contained in row 6 for Y and Z. Is there a function that will 1) look for a blank or WR across a row, 2) find the associated date for that blank in row 6, and 3) write the in another column in the form of a list, each date separated by commas? Here is an example of my information. I would like for a function to automatically make the list in column FB for any dates that are blank or contain "WR".
I'm trying to create what is essentially a report card for our staff. I have all the data in a pivot table and then I am using 'GETPIVOTDATA's in the report template to extract the information, linking the sheets via a cell that contains the staff members name. Easy enough. However for reasons of efficiency and practicality I would like to be able to select the names from a drop down list on the sheet rather than having to type it in manually or maintaining a separate sheet for everyone. The operators will change from month to month and there are approximately 90 staff at any given point in time that will need to be reported on so it really needs to be sourced from the pivot data.
I am trying to do is create a list from a large table (see attached). I have 2 columns (A and B) listing 'Asset' and 'Area' and then 2 rows (1 and 2) listing 'type of task' and 'task'. This forms a table with entries in the cells (from C3 onwards) denoting frequency of each task at each location, i.e. daily, monthly, 6 monthly and annual. This gives me quite a large table which is quite confusing. Can I create a formula to sort all the daily activities which will give me a list of the 4 corresponding properties 'country', 'location' (in columns A and B) and 'type of task', 'task' (in Rows 1 and 2)? Then do the same for the different frequencies populated in the table, 'monthly', '6 monthly' and 'annual' ???
I am copying info from a program into the "Input" worksheet - It is from my phone switch of logins and logouts of my employees. I have 11 supervisors and my end goal is to have each one of their coordinators show up in their specific tab automatically with all of their login information, ids, logins, and logouts. I can do the other math for the Marks and break lengths but I am having a hard time with this. I have been trying vlookup, but cannot figure out a way to bring all of the different rows... It only brings over one row.
I have tried to use some of the code from other posts on this sight, but have not had any luck.
What I am looking for it to do is on the Alis worksheet - the light blue sections. I am also finding it difficult in the light purple section also. I am trying to figure out how much time they were on the clock.
I am trying to create a drop down list for a table of contents that can link off to other pages within the same work book since it is very large and difficult to navigate through. I can create dropdowns were the lists it draws from is hyperlinks and that doesn't do anything special. It is just like drawing a regular list. I want the drop down when I click on something, to link me over to the other sheet.
I have a list (formatted as a table) on one sheet that I want users to be able to change. On another sheet there is a table that needs to have every item from the list in the first column. So far I have achieved this by using "=Table2[[#This Row],[Crop List]]" in every cell of the column where I want the list copied. ("Table2" is the list, "Crop List" is the header on the list.) This basically works, but it has some drawbacks:
1) When I try to sort the table, the items referencing the list are stuck in their original positions and no longer match the other columns.
2) I have to have a large number of cells displaying "#VALUE!" at the bottom of my table because they refer to empty cells in the list which might later be filled.
In case my explanation wasn't clear, I've attached a copy of the workbook. Everything I'm talking about is on the first two sheets, "Lists" and "Pricing."
I would like to have a macro to automatically generate a statistics table (on the "statistics" tab) with the 5 following fields: Fragment names / # samples / # of failed samples / % of success / # of variations in the fragment (SNP). At the bottom of this table, I would like to have a cell with the average % of success for all fragments. The data to generate these statistics are on the "gene name" tab (please note that this name will change every time I will work on a new gene). To make things easier, I think the macro should be run from this tab.
1. The Fragment names are displayed in row #5. I use one column per variation per fragment. If one fragment has 3 variations, there will be three columns and I will merge together the fragment name cells. The fact that some cells are merged can be a problem when copy-paste to the stats table (as I would like to get rid of the merging).
2. # of samples corresponds to the number of cells in blue in column A. The number of samples can change from one report to another but is always constant in the same report.
3. # of failed sequences. In the table, I type "Failed Sequence" (if the analysis has failed) and "Missing Sequence" (if the analysis has not been done). When a sample is failed or missing, it is for the who fragment, no matter how many variation there is in the fragment, so I usually merge the cells of all variations for this failed sample.
4. % of success: this is quite easy #sample/#of failed+missing sequence for this fragment
5. # of variation is equal to the number of variations for this fragment (can be 0, 1, 2, etc.). When there is no variation in a fragment, I put '-- in all cells of the corresponding fragment on the "gene name" tab. Fragment 3 on my file is an example of 0 variation.
I am trying to create a straight column list that can take the rows and columns of a table, and list only the nonblank items. The formula I am using only seems to work with one column, not multiple.
I have a quite big database as a result of a study in Excel 2010. There is a special block of data for every participant in the study, including 16 data series in 16 lines. I have to make a unique chart for every line.
One block is bulid up in a way, that every row is the input for a chart, with the exception of one "spacer" row, which is empty.
Name 1 2 3 4 ... A B C
D E F
For example in the sample above, there should be 6 line-charts (A, B, C, D, E, F) next to the block.
Can a macro be written, so I can automatically create the chart-set by selecting the block's upper left cell and running the macro? Or is there any easier method?
I download a daily inventory file from my supplier. . I sell only selected products from that file. . I would like to use a list of the product part numbers of the products I sell on sheet 2 (Inventory) and have all the results from sheet 1 (ProductFeed) built into an expandable table on sheet two including all the parts numbers (expandable because I will add or delete part numbers from the list) I have listed and not just one part number but several. . Second issue: the download file contains part numbers in column "A" with variables like 418, 418_color, 418_size etc.... I would like all part numbers that begin with the number 418 and the ones that contain the variable added to be listed in the new table so I will get a list of all part number 418 and the variables which include 418 in them. . I want to return the results of the whole row(s) of the matched data as well in the new table. . I have attached a file of the working data that I have with the data I will use although the ProductFeed will change daily which I intend to copy and paste into the table each day.
I've attached a spreadsheet showing the effect I'm trying to achieve. A list (which changes weekly) contains employee details and length of service. Based on the length of service I need to build a new list grouping the employees based on the service length.
I have created a pivot table that is connected to an input sheet with data. The input sheet retrieves data automatically from a external source through an add-in to Excel. When updating data the fields expands, but only for the items which have been changed. I want the table to be updated automatically, but not the fields expand automatically. Is there any pivot options to prevent this problem?
It should be mentioned that the pivot table is not directly connected to the input sheet (which is updated from the external source), but from a "help-sheet" reflecting the input sheet with some additional columns. I use conditional formatting and name range in the pivot.
I am trying to create a single input sheet that automatically feeds data into several other worksheets within the same workbook. Some of the sheets use the same data, some are completely independent of each other. The point of having this is so that users can go in, fill in the input sheet, and the other sheets will automatically be filled with data from the input sheet.
I want to do is use a userform to automatically create a graph from the data that is shown in the worksheet. The data in the work sheet will grow and shrink all the time. Am i right in thinking I am meant to create a dynamic range? I know how to do it but am not too sure what I am meant to be naming. And secondly I am not too sure how I set up the button to produce the graph.
I have two data tables (Table1 and Table2) on two different sheets (Sheet 1 and Sheet 2). In Col1 of Table2, I have "copied" the values of Col1 in Table1 by using a simple equal (=) formula. Secondly, I have an autofilter on Table2 and a macro that automatically updates the filter when the sheet (Sheet 2) is selected.
My problem is that I would like Table2 to be more dyanmic, i.e. I don't want to change the range of the Table2 each time I add, or subtract, a value from Table1.
I have a workbook that automatically creates a new sheet based on the current day. There is a pivot table in the workbook that gets values from multiple consolidation ranges.
Right now I have to manually add the ranges from the new sheet every time. I need that pivot table to update with the same ranges from the new sheet every time a new sheet is created.
There is also another sheet (named "Data Results") that needs to update too, but that's not as urgent.
I've searched everywhere on the forums and can't find anything like that. When the file opens, I've written script to have a box pop up asking whether you want to "View Data" or "Begin New Audit." If you click "View Data" nothing happens and you can just view the file. If you click "Begin New Audit" it creates a new sheet based on the current date.
I wanted to attach the file, but it's an Excel 2007 macro-enabled file (*.xlsm).
I am trying to learn the concepts, then apply them to a set of actual worksheets. I am trying to use named ranges from one worksheet in another worksheet. The named ranges need to expand. Although I can get the add data to a dummy worksheet to work within the same worksheet and I can even get a named range to work in the foreign sheet.
My problem is, when I can end up adding the additional data to the named range, it will only add one name. I have a number of named ranges that are referenced on various worksheets. The idea is, certain named ranges should be able to expand so I donft have to type them all in. (There could be hundreds of manufacturers or models.) I would also like them to be able to sort themselves after additional names are added to the named ranges. I would also like them to auto populate as well. I am using Excel 2003 SP3 (11.8307.8221). I have enclosed the file. Drop down lists (named ranges) are on the worksheet called DROP DOWN LISTS (LOCKED) **ITfS NOT CURRENTLY LOCKED**.
The data validation issues are on the worksheet called Rev7.0 Wood (Basic Sheet.) There are other instances to use these, but I hope to learn to do them myself on the other worksheets. Of particular interest is Column f.................
I've been using Dave Hawley's "Excel Data Validation List - Automatically Add to a Data Validation List" in my wb with great results, but now I am going to use a secondary wb to keep the Data Validation List and herein lies my problem. I lack the VBA skills to be able to modify the code and references so that when I input into the primary wb the data is updated in the secondary wb. The Primary wb is an xlt that I'm developing, each time a new xls is opened from the Primary.xlt, vba in the Primary.xls opens Secondary.xls. Secondary.xls has a named range "Names" which I wish to be able to update when data validation is performed in Primary.xls per the sample on this web site.
I'm trying to implement the feature from this great Ozgrid 'how to', and it's working for the most part, but the VBA falls over here...
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim lReply As Long
If Target.Cells.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub If Target.Address = "$F$10" Then If IsEmpty(Target) Then Exit Sub If WorksheetFunction. CountIf(Range("Dept"), Target) = 0 Then lReply = MsgBox("Add " & Target & " to list", vbYesNo + vbQuestion) If lReply = vbYes Then Range("Dept").Cells(Range("Dept").Rows.Count + 1, 1) = Target End If End If End If End Sub
Basically, I have a tab which contains 2 lists. One in Column A and one in Columb B. I want the corresponding dropdowns on a different sheet to allow entry of anything that's not on either of the lists.
I can get it to work if I place the lists on the same sheet as the main 'form', but I need to keep them on a seperate sheet (and as the 'how to' suggests the lists can be on any sheet, I thought it'd work 'out of the box').
trying to incorporate this in to a workbook in which name range is on a separate sheet to where the validation cell is but with no success could any one tell me how to adjust it so that it works,
I have entered all the formulas into my table (sheet 1) referenced to the source data but I want to upadate the source data regularly but when I delete sheet 2 all the formulas come up with #Ref error. how i can update my source data so my table automatically updates
How or if it is even possible to have a table automatically adjust its range or the number or rows it has based on another table
I have two tables:
Table1 is raw data that is added two daily
Table2 has formulas with column header references to Table1 that processes the information and converts it to a readable format. (basically barcodes to words)
Is there a way to get Table2 to automatically resize to the same number of rows that Table1 has whenever data is added??
