I am copy/pasting a new column of data (F). I have three formulas MIN,AVE,MAX watching each row in the columns "=MIN(B2:E2)" or example. When I insert the new column F, the formulas give me the "Formula Omits Adjacent Cell" warning. I don't want to turn off the warning; I want to know if there is a way for the formulas to automatically include the new data? Do I need a Worksheet Event for this?
I want to make an excel workbook for a client. What I want to do with it is make a set of instructions telling them to add or insert as many rows in specific categories I have made for them. These options differ depending on the different duties performed. There will be an associated number (value for that duty, ex. duty might be Janitor and the number would be like 5 dollars per hour, so on and so forth), I want to make it to where there is a code that notices more rows and adds more IF statements or whatever statements are needed to keep adding those extra options. These values are connected to a data validation list that drives the if statement.
I have 2 WorkBook, Division.xls and Department.xls. The Sheet1 in the Department is linked & getting the values from Sheet1 in the Division & works fine. But if there is a change in Division workbook, its not affecting here immediately. When i close the Department.xls and open again, i can find the latest values. I thought the links to the other sheets or workbooks will be updated when i press the save button. So I used the SendKeys "^S" in the VBA. But it fails. Is there any way to mention through VBA code to update the recent values to the Department workbook from Division.
why I must update all cells, with formulas, manually after I do something with the workbook. I'll try to make an example.
If I make a macro that enters =sum("F1:F10") it says #NAME? when its done, but if I dubbleclick it and press enter it calculates the cell like its supposed to. I've tried to press alt + ctrl + F9, but that doesnt work.
Is there a command to dubbelclick the entire workbook and then press enter if you know what I mean?
This what my excel sheet looks like that i am using the date ant time cell is set by using the now formula to get the current date and time, but I only want the date tiem change for each row when it changes.
For example when the data for the first row changes all the dates and time change, but I only want the effected rows time to change not all the times and dates, this progam is set up to monitor inventory and when some makes a change to the inventory I need to now when the that data was recorded but do not want the users to have to enter the data and want it to be enter automatically that is why i am using the now function. The data may not change at all for a couple days that why I need to be able to keep the Date data from changing automatically.
I have a workbook that has two worksheets. One worksheet is an input worksheet. A user will select a date from a drop-down list and type in the events that occurred on that date in 8 adjacent cells. The user selects a button that advances date and clears form. On sheet 2, whatever was typed into sheet one is saved via VLOOKUP formula. However, if I try to change something retroactively and select a previous date from the drop-down list, it clears everything in sheet 2 that was typed for any selected day.
On Sheet2, data validation is applied to cells D21:D70 to limit data to values to a list, which is a named range on another worksheet. There are ranges on two other worksheets with the same data validation rule. The range for the list is âSheet1â!D12:D26 (which is named âProcessesâ).
On Sheet1, the user enters a list of their processes. Then on Sheet2 (and the other sheets where the data validation is applied), they select one of the processes from the list. This all works fine until they go back to Sheet1 and modify one of the previously entered values.
For example, "Brush Teeth" is entered as one of the processes on Sheet1. It is then selected on Sheet2. Then, the user goes back to Sheet1 and changes the value to "Brush Hair." When you return to Sheet2, the value is still "Brush Teeth." It can be manually be changed by selecting âBrush Hairâ from the drop-down list (âBrush Teethâ is no longer available), but it doesnât automatically update.
Data validation was applied to a single cell (A3) and the list was on the same worksheet (B1:B3).
Option Explicit Private oldValue As String Private Const DVCell As String = "A1" Private Const dataList As String = "B1:B10"
[Code]...
'This is worksheet event code, which means that it needs to be 'placed in the appropriate worksheet code module, not a standard 'code module. To do this, right-click on the sheet tab, select 'the View Code option from the menu, and paste the code in.
On Sheet2 (I assume I need to add this code to every applicable sheet), I tried editing the first part of the code as follows (changes in bold), but when I click on any cell on Sheet2 that has the data validation rule applied, VB returns the error âRun-time error â1004â: Method âRangeâ of object â_Worksheetâ failed.â If I go into the debugger, the second instance of âIf Not Intersect(Target, Range(dataList)) Is Nothing Thenâ is highlighted.
I'm working on a workbook to track staffing patterns. I have two userforms included in my workbook. The first userform (userForm2) initiates upon opening the workbook. It's intended to allow the user to enter a date range and an office location for the report. The second userform (userform1) initiates when a command button (Weekly Summary) is clicked. I've linked texts boxes in userForm2 to cells in a hidden worksheet; this is where I'm holding the dates and office location until userform1 is initiated. I also have labels in userform1 linked to the same cells in the hidden worksheet so that when userform1 is initiated the office and date range appear at the top of userform1.
Here's the problem, when I click command button "Weekly Summary" the office location shows up perfectly however, the labels I have linked to cells in the hidden worksheet that contain dates do not update (i.e. they show the dates that were previously in those specific cells. I have to close userform1 and re-open it to get the dates to update.
I need the user to be able to choose a date range and office location when they enter the workbook. Then, I need userform1 to show the date range and office location (without having to open it, close it and re-open it) that the user chose on opening the workbook.
I have a 2 columns (A and B) next to each other that is using a Sum formula and other multiplying formulas. They reference 3 cells in a different column (C) to come up up with the answer for A and B. Therefore A1 and B1 reference C1 C2 and C3 (and possibly if want to use in future column D with D1 D2 D3).
Then in A2 and B2 I want to reference from C4, C5, C6 Then in A3 and A4 I want to reference from C7, C78, C9 etc.... and so on...
Instead of retyping formulas for each row in A and B, I want to copy down, but I getting the wrong answer when I do that.
I am therefore assuming I typing the formula wrong. How do I type it correctly so the cell reference changes automatically when I pull down columns A and B?
Formula for Column A: =SUM($G28:$G30) Forumla for Column B: =($G28*$H28+$G29*$H29+$G30*$H30)/$B17
Therefore next row should be referenced from G31 to G33 and H31 to H33
But when I copy it only adjusts it for 1 reference down.
I am using excel 2007 and when I change cells my formulas do not automatically refresh. I have set it to automatic and the calculations will not refresh. How I can force a calculation. I did the control alt f9 and nothing seems to work. Any macro that can force all calculations.
Let's say that in column A I have numbers,"Yes" and "No". I want in column B to have only the numbers from column A, in the same order without any empty ranges, and everytime I add in column A a new number, column B to update automatically with that number. Let's have an example:
A B Yes 12 12 13 No 10 13 No 10 Yes
And if I want to add in column A: A B Yes 12 12 13 No 10 13 25 No 15 10 Yes 25 15
So the column be will update automatically. I already tried =IFERROR(INDEX($A$1:$A$10,SMALL(IF(ISNUMBER($A$1:$A$10),ROW($A$1:$A$10)),ROWS(B$1:B1))-ROW($A$1)+1),") but using this many times get's my file very heavy and the excel is working slow.
I have a basic formula =C17+'Asset Depreciation 2008 Onwards'!C24, and I want to copy it down just using the drag function. Problem is that the second reference range of cells are in rows and hence when I copy it down it doesnt automatically update the cell references because it want to update them by column number instead of row number. IE I want it to display =C17+'Asset Depreciation 2008 Onwards'! D24, instead of C25. Do you know if there is any way of telling Excel that I want it to increase the column number by 1 every time, instead of the row number for this part of the formula?
I have a workbook with 30 worksheets. Each sheet has 84 rows of data (start in 15 columns (A to O). I would like to create a summary sheet that only shows the most important data from each sheet.
The summary sheet would have 12 lines of headers and formatted crap at the top. The Summary sheet header columns would be:
Site (A), Date (B) Health (C), Status (D), Critical (E), Task (F), Dependencies (G), Owner (H), T-Date (I), Task Date (J), Mitigation Date (I)
The data in the sheets are not in that order, of course.
That 1. puts the name of the sheet I am copying from in column A 2. the deadline date in Column B (that date is always in C10 of each worksheet) 3. and copies Cells from Column A,B,G,H,I,O in any row in which the value in A is not "good" into columns C through H. I would like to paste those rows into the summary sheet. I have code that loops through the sheets and rows in each sheet to find the rows to copy. I can copy cell values directly from the active sheet to the summary sheet, but because I am copying a cell at a time, it takes 7 minutes. Yes I am impatient :)
Here is the code snippet where the copying is done:
Dim sh As Worksheet 'current worksheet Dim DestSh As Worksheet 'worksheet in which to paste summary Dim Last As Long Dim CopyRow As Long 'row to copy Dim LastCopyRow As Long
[Code] ........
ExitTheSub:
Application.Goto Sheets("KMARollup").Cells(1) End Sub
I think there must be a way to use ranges to build an array of cell values and paste only once but I am lost here.
If I have formulas in A1, A5, A19, and A36, highlight them with goto, how do I move them into B1, B5, B19, and B36? Copying and pasting puts them in B1, B2, B3, and B4.
When I have a column of data, say reference A1 to A9 with a formula beneath it in A10 being that the formula is = SUM(A1:A9) when I update any of the data in A1 to A9 the figure in A10 does not update. The only way to get it to update is to click in A10 where the formula is and then click in the formula bar and press enter; the formula seems to recalculate after this and it works or you need to save it and it works. It should work right after any change in the data being added.
I used VBA to write a number of formulas into various cells in a workbook. After the VBA is done running, I change the values in the cells that are referenced by the cells I wrote formulas in. The formulas do not update after I enter this new information. My calculation is set to automatic, and F9 doesn't help.
Macro that could look at a row and take the values of two cells, combine them and then create a range name for a third cell in the row.
For example; for row 5420, in column C there is the word Florida, in column D there is the number 6235, and in column F there is a sentence or two. Is there a way to automatically create a named range for the cell of column F that would be named FLORIDA6235? And if so, can the macro do this for every row even if the word and/or the number changes.
I have roughly 28,000 rows and nine columns that I am working with. That's why I was wondering if there was a way to automate this. There are 10 states and I don't know how many different numbers attached to the states, however there are many state and number combinations that repeat, so there would be several rows with Florida in column C, 6235 in column D but a different description in column F.
I own a Hair Salon which collates its daily takings using a spreadsheet. A section of this takings sheet asks staff to enter which Products have been sold and what they where sold for (RRP), so that once all products have been entered, totals at the end of the day allowing the end -of-day "till-up" process to reconcile purchases and services rendered aginst cash and cheques received.
Unfortunately there is over 600 products to choose from and this evergroes as new products are introduced by manufacturers. Names are long and often very similar, and product price manual listings are slow to reference, therefore the customer has to wait while the staff find the right product and select the right price.
All of this is subject to human error. What i would like is simply to enter part of the product name into a Cell and the right product to be visibly selectable and the price automatically added to an adjacent cell.
We have a worksheet that contains twelve different charts. Once a month, we load data into anotheer worksheet and run a macro and it produces the twelve charts. The problem is that we have to manually update/change the month name in each chart title every time we run the macro to produce the charts. Is there a way to automatically update the month name so that we do not have to manually do it? For example, the current chart title is "xxxxxx - March 2014"....when we run the charts for April, we have to manually change March to April in each of the charts. Can this be done automatically?
I have a worksheet with a cell that references another cell. Cell A1 references cell B1, and the value of cell A1 is "=B1"
When I type anything in B1, A1 won't automatically update to reflect what I've typed. The only way I can get it to update on the fly is to save the workbook. Even when I close the workbook and reopen it, it still won't update to what I've typed in B1. Is there a setting that keeps it from autoupdating?
I require a total amount of 'cost price' items we have in stock.
As you can see from sheet 1, 'Adidas', the total is Ł43.00. However that is not the cost of stock, as some items are not in stock, as per Column I. (The cost is actually Ł36.00).
How can I make a total to include just items in stock? Bear in mind new stock is inserted between others in order of Model so the forumale would need to update automatically, and there are several hundred sheets, not just 2.
I have a dashboard (CW Dashboard.xlsx) that is linked to 3 main spreadsheets. In each main spreadsheet, there are 5 tabs. One tab contains raw data, the other 4 tabs contain tables: 2 tabs with formulas based on the raw data tab, and 2 tabs linked to 20 other spreadsheets (for now). I separated the raw data into 3 spreadsheets because Excel was calculating way slower than my patience would tolerate. All spreadsheets are Excel 2010. All spreadsheets reside on our network drive.
The links update as expected on the 2 tabs that are linked to the 20 different spreadsheets in each of the three main spreadsheets. The CW Dashboard does not update. I get #REF! in each cell (although when I click in the cell, the link shows no error). I am using VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP in this spreadsheet. I can of course open the source documents from within the Dashboard and the links then work as expected. However, I would prefer the eventual users of the Dashboard not have to open 4 s'sheets.
I have attached a sample of our worksheet (GTS807) used to create quotes and generate jobsheets etc once they are orders. To ensure we have enough of a size in stock I want to carry out a check against the stocksheet (stock) which I have no problem but I cant get it to automatically update the stock once a quote becomes an order and removes the quantity from stock!
As you see the balance of stock in shown in AA13 for "115270" but is there a code to find "115270" on the stock sheet and copy the new balance back there?
I have an excel based appliction that I distribute to about 150 people in the US, London, Hong Kong and Singapore. Distribution is currently done by email containing a link to a Sharepoint site (the email has the link, release notes, etc). The end users open the file and save it to their desktops, overwritting the previous version. I'm finding that many users are not updating their versions as they should be.
So what I'm wondering is if there's a way to have this process automated - so that when the user opens the file, it checks a repository (sharepoint or otherwise) for a more current version, then prompts the user to download it.
In my worksheet I have a data validation dropdown which changes the value in a cell. I then use VLOOKUP to find values in Personal.xls (open) based upon that cell. It works great, BUT if I make any changes to the data in Personal.xls it doesn't get updated in the other file. I've tried saviing, closing, opening etc but it never updates since I first did it.
I have a working VLOOKUP formula for generating a one page inventory list. It grabs values from worksheets in other spreadsheets. The only problem is it doesn't automatically update.
Is there a way to automatically update football stats from a website. I want to update many different stats each week of player and team performances. Can I specify a website to go to update the info and prefer to do it each Tuesday. Let me know if more details are needed.
