I cannot "BOLD" the contents of cells in my spreadsheet by clicking "B" on the menu bar. However I can do so by clicking on "Format - Cell - Font" and then using the selecting the Bold option. I wonder why this happens.
In a large range of cells, how I can remove the single quote at the beginning of the contents of each cell? (without single quote they would be formulas). It didn't work using CTRL + L and trying to replace the single quote by blank applying this to the whole range. I am currently using Excel 2003.
Example:
cell a1 contents: '= IF (I17 = "----------", "----------", E17-C17) cell a2 contents: '= IF (I18 = "----------", "----------", E18-C18) cell a3 contents: '= IF (I19 = "----------", "----------", E19-C19) .... etc., etc., etc.
I am merging columns. Col B has all text in bold. Col C has all text in regular font. When I use ASAP to merge, the merged column comes out all bold. When I use a formula to merge the merged column comes out all regular. What I want is for the merged column to contain the bold text from Col B in bold, and the regular text from Col C in regular.
What I want is...
This is for service plan B: Take all data and transer to new server.
What I am getting is...
This is for service plan B:Take all data and transer to new server.
OR
This is for service plan B:Take all data and transer to new server.
I want to have a function or macro that if cells have mingled bold text, that only the bold text shall remain in the cells, and all the rest of the text must be deleted.
I am trying to create a macro that if a value in a cell in column A is bold, then the value in the same row in column H is bold, then loop it to run on the rest of the worksheet.
I need bolding and underlining cells that are "Concatenated". For example, cell format for cell K12 is already bolded and underlined. If I concatenate (C1,K12,D2) I get a result that doesn't carry over the format of those individual cells - particularly K12 which I want BOLDED and UNDERLINED.
I have a sheet full of names, addresses and phone numbers in one cell like this
Albert Young 16 teststreer 12C..................7888-6338
The name Albert Young is bold. The thing is I would like to split the cell putting the names in another colomn. Then it would be ideal to split the addresses and phone numbers as well. But I have no idea how to split any of these. I scanned this from a phone book, the dots are different on each row.
I have a spreadsheet with rows of cells which are either blank or have text in them.
Is there an easy way to write a formula which will make the cells which have text in them bold and make the cell colour grey. But if the cell is blank keep the cell white.
However, whenever I run the code, if there's even on word that is bold in the cell, then the entire text string in the cell turns bold. How can I stop this from happening? i want to keep the format of the text string the same, only remove and replace the items listed in the code.
I have a column in my .XLS whose contents I want to change depending on what the contents of the cells of a different column are. However, I only want two cells from the same row to be dependent on each other. So, for example, if $A$1 reads "1" then $B$1 should read "apple" and if $A$2 reads "1" then $B$2 should read "apple"; if $A$12 reads "3" then $B$12 should read "pavement" etc.
I wish to copy a merged cell (3 cells) based on if only 1 of 3 cells to the right contain "X". if the top cell does not contain "X" than the merged cell is not copied. Also, is therea more elegant to copy 3 columns at a time rather than do one at a time as my code shows:
Sub CopyICUCAPU() ' ' CopyICUCAPU Macro ' Dim i As Integer
I am trying to conditionally format the top middle and bottom thirds of a range of data. Problem is, that the range needs to be flexible as sometimes there may be a maximum of 36 cells with data, but sometimes there may be less (so there are blank cells in the range that need not be counted). The methods I have tried always include the blank cells, and so it is not equally formatting the thirds (as it includes the blanks cells as part of the bottom data)....
Here are the 2 methods Ive tried so far using excel 2003) Top 34%: =IF(INT(COUNT($D$3:$D$38)*34%)>0,LARGE($D$3:$D$38,INT(COUNT($D$3:$D $38)*34%)),MAX( $D$3:$D$38))0,LARGE($D$3:$D$38,INT(COUNT($D$3:$D $38)*67%)),MAX( $D$3:$D$38))0,LARGE($D$3:$D$38,INT(COUNT($D$3:$D $38)*100%)),MAX( $D$3:$D$38))
I have a worksheet on which the data is already grouped. At the top of each group is a row that contains only the group name. Since the rest of that row is blank, I want to use a blank cell on that row as a reference, then copy the group name to a newly created column, then fill that column down to the next group.
The goal is to create a column that contains the group name, rather than just having the group name as a " header" at the top of each group.
I am referring to the post made by NBVC at http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...xcel-help.html, Try: =IF($A1="",INDIRECT("A"&ROW()-ROW($A$2)+COLUMN(B1)),"") in B2, copied across and down
I have a similar case but there are no empty rows between lists, what would be the formula to get the same results? (The transposed address should appear next to each first line of each block).
Earlier, I posted at http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...-one-cell.html and I got brilliant answers, I also would like to get benefit of the above mentioned formula but in cases when there are no empty rows between lists.
I am looking for a code that will clear all of my unlocked cell in sheet 1. That is not a problem but since many of the cells are merged I know it keeps throwing me an error saying cannot change contents of merged cells or something like that. Does anyone know how to get around this without unmerging the cells. I saw a code to unmerge all of the cells on a sheet but I really don't want to do this as I already have worked around most of my problems with the merged cells.
I have written this code to clear the contents of certain cells, lock the content of others and protect the sheet again it works on sheet1 but not on sheet 7. This is suppose to happen when the Print button on my sheet is clicked.
I have a spreadsheet that has columns stating both status and then further to the right in the row, currency totals. There are only two status options, Stocked and On Order. I need to add the total currency amounts based on this other column's listing and it must change if status changes.
(Put simpler: Column A lists Stocked or On Order and Column B is the currency tied up in that row. I need to make totals for the cells in column B based on the status listed in Column A and it must change when Column A is changed. This should result in two totals, one for Stock Status Currency and one for On Order Curreny)
I have a list of unique numbers on sheet 'List'. On another sheet, 'Data', I have a columns of data and column E contains a number which will match a number in the list on sheet 'List'.
What I want to do but don't know how to is loop (i think) through the numbers in 'List' and every row in 'Data' that contains a number is moved so that the data is grouped according to the number. i.e all rows with 78878 will appear beside each other and so on.
Neec code that i could use that will automate this so the user can just press a button and the data is reorganized?
I want the function of clear contents to work based on the value of B4. If I run the code with clear content part excel crushes.
VB:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) If Range("B4") = "Basic" Then ''*** B4 is adropdown ***'' ActiveSheet.Unprotect 'Range("B10,F10,H10").ClearContents ''*** if I run this part the excel crushes ***''' Range("B10,F10,H10").Locked = True
About half of the time when I move the contents of a cell I get the message "The Clipboard cannot be emptied. Another program might be using the Clipboard"
