Calculate The Average Difference Between Columns
I am trying to determine the average reduction amount of appraised property values. I have two columns in my spreadsheet. Column H has appraised value of property. Column I has the accepted value of the property. Sometimes the accepted value is the same as the appraised value, sometimes it is reduced, and sometimes it is rejected.

I want to be able to find the average reduction amount when the accepted value is less than the appraised value and is not rejected.

Column H always shows a numerical value (i.e. \$250,000), but Column I may have a numerical value or show "rejected".

Formula To Calculate Percent Difference Between Last 2 Columns
See attachment. In this example, in Column D I want to calculate the percent difference between the numbers in the last 2 columns (Column B and Column C). BUT I want a formula that will automatically update if I were to insert a new column between Column C and Column D. So as a result, new numbers would go in Column D and the percent difference would now be in Column E.

Pivot Table/Calculate The Field
I have attached a simple test file. The data tab has two columns in the pivot range. The third column is _not_ in the pivot range, but is there to show the result I'm trying to get with the pivot.

The idea is to count the number of people whose entry dates are greater than 2/1/2009. My third data column gives a correct result, but a similar formula in the calculated field of the pivot table gives a completely wrong result (a date), where my goal is to generate a zero, a one, or a sum of zeros and ones.

It could be a formatting issue, but that would not explain why all the pivot results have the _same_ wrong answer.

I'm new to PTs and calculated fields, and expect I've made a naive mistake that an expert could easily spot.

Calculate Average In Pivot Table
With Pivot Tables, there is the ability to add Grand Totals to Rows or Columns, but I want to add Averages to the end of the row instead. Can this be done? I have tried Calculated Fields but can't get the right result. Auto Merged Post;Hi again,

After I posted this I found another similar post, where the answer was that the "Average" calculation has to be done outside the pivot table, ie. there seems to be no way the pivot will give averages for rows, only grand totals.

If this is the case then I will have to work around it.... I was hoping it could be done within the pivot because I have graphs linking to the pivot and they all go spak when I update the pivot with different data. The number of columns will change all the time, meaning the average will need to be reworked. Just trying to save time!

Calculate Percent Of In Pivot Table
looking for a way to run some pivot tables on a large data table. Would like the result to show some different data extraction from the same field / column. The table is customer survey results for my employees, and the fields in question can have values from 1-5. I would like to finish the pivot table with all of these fields:

Row: Name (ok, that part is easy)

Data fields:
% of entries (column 2) that are 5
% of entries (column 2) that are 4 or 5
% of entries (column 2) that are 1 or 2
# of entries (column 2)
% of entries (column 3) that are 5
% of entries (column 3) that are 4 or 5
% of entries (column 3) that are 1 or 2
# of entries (column 3)

I'm hoping this is something I can do with calculated fields, but haven't been able to figure it out. So far all I have is a 'Count' function in the pivot wizard for the # of entries, but I'm not getting the % of entries at all. Column A = Name, Column B = 1st metric, Column C = 2nd metric. Fairly simple layout, but I have a small sample file I can attach if that's not explanatory enough.

Pivot Table With Multiple Columns
How do I create a pivot table with multiple data columns? My fixed asset software will not let me create a report to list multiple months/ quarters. I've created a spreadsheet that I can dump each month into, but I'd like to be able to sort by G/L acct or Department. I have a couple of Pivot Tables that I create each month summarising my Income and Expenditure. The only problem I have is making the columns appear in the correct order, i.e. where July is month1 through June(the following year) being month 12 to coincide with my financial year. Oddly enough last month (January) was fine, following December.

This month January and February appear in columns 1 & 2.

When i tried to drop another field into data field, by default, the new data field will appear below the field which was already in there. However, i would like the new field showing in an new column - horizontally - rather than showing in a new row.

Pivot Table Columns/rows And Subtotals
attached Pivot Table. There is a section, which I've marked, that shows how I want my Pivot Table report to look. I've had Excel 2007 kick me out a number of times when I've tried to filter and shift rows and columns to accomplish this and areas are frequently grayed out. Can someone please assist?

Change The Date On One Of The Pivot Table And Pivot Table Match

Difference Between Colums In Pivot
I have an excel sheet with a pivot table with some data about the trades that I have done in the stock market. Before reading the query request you to please have a look at the attachment as I have referred a few data columns.

Coming to the pivot table, in column 'I', I have the 'Total Sum of Trade Value' column which basically adds up the data frome columns E and G (i.e. Sum of trade values under 'Buy' and 'Sell'). I also have the brokerages paid for buying as well as selling and the brokerages are summed up in column J. Basically, what I want to do is to be able to get a difference between different columns within a pivot table. So I want a column which will have 'G-E-J' (Sum of Sell value - Sum of Buy value - Sum of Brokerage). I could click on one of the data fields and after selecting Value filed settings, it shows the summarized by tab.

Calculate Difference In Dates
I need to calculate the amount of time between two dates, and show it in the number of hours and minutes. My dates are formatted to show the time in Zulu time. So 1406 = 2:06PM.

Here is what I have:

A1 = 6/4/08 1406Z
B1 = 6/5/08 0402Z

For this example, the formula should return a result of 13 hours and 58 minutes. With the result, there is no need to desingate Zulu time with a 'Z'. But I need the result in a format that will allow me to calculate an average for all my data.

Calculate Difference To Lowest
I'm looking for a macro or formula that can calculate the difference to the lowest of col C based on option in colB. See attached. I complete what it should look like in F. Basically, this can be done by sorting the data by colB and using this formual for every group. =C2-MIN(\$C\$2:\$C\$4). This is not ideal because I have many of these to do and you have to adjust the min range for every group. Plus group sizes will vary.

There has to be a better way. Ideally, I would not like to have to sort the data, unless a macro did it for me....

I was trying to calculate the difference between two dates on excel

I had a look through the search message board and searched the web generally where I came across the datedif function

I had found that in order to get the number of years it was

=datedif(startdate,enddate,"Y")

for months same formula"YM" and for days use "MD" in place of "Y" in the original formula

My question is when using datedif to calculate the number of days between two days it initialy gave me the right answer

Number of days between 01/08/2008 - 22/08/2008 - Answer 21 days

Using date dif gave me 21 days but when i did

01/08/2008 - 01/09/2008 - this gave me 0

Am I entering the formula wrong or does datedif simply not pick the difference if the days havent changed even though the month has ?

I then found i could simply minus one from the other , which then had me asking what is the point of date dif

I am setting up a time and attendance system.

What I want to do is calculate the overtime that someone has worked but in multiples of 15 minutes.

Example, if someone worked 20 minutes over they would be paid for 15 minutes overtime.

The possible overtime someone could work in one day is 6 hours.

I want to write a generic formula to calculate the difference of time between cells, the first being a real data point, such as

6/22/2007 8:53

minus a generic constant term using the same date and a given time, 8:30.

So, what I need is something like this:

6/22/2007 8:53 – (same mm/dd/yy @ 8:30)
6/22/2007 12:29 – (same mm/dd/yy @ 8:30)
6/25/2007 11:19 – (same mm/dd/yy @ 8:30)

Calculate Difference Between Dates Excluding Weekends
I wanted to calculate the difference between dates, excluding the weekends. After much thought i used =NETWORKDAYS(A1,B1)+IF(NETWORKDAYS(A1,A1)+ NETWORKDAYS(B1,B1)=2,-SIGN(NETWORKDAYS(A1,B1)),0) that seemed to be working fine. However, I had a problem today with this formula when my start day was saturday (24/05/08) and the last day was monday (26/05/08). What i want is that when i take the difference between these two days, i should get zero as answer as we are not including the weekends in calculation so the start date should ideally be the first weekday which is Monday. However, the formula is giving me 1 as an answer.

This formula works fine if i select 27/05/08 as last date in which case i get 2 as an answer which is right. In gist, what i am looking for is a formula which will give me the difference between two dates and exclude the weekends from the calculation. The last date can't be a weekend, but the start date can. Hence, whenever the start date is a weekend, the formula should take monday as a start day.

I'm trying to do some calculations involving times. I'm using the format [=A2+(A1>A2)-A1] in order to calculate times from one day to the next which avoids negative numbers. This is working well. My problem is now that I'm trying to develop my spreadsheet and am trying to embed this inside an IF statement as the [value_If_True]and I get an error because it doesnt like the leading equals sign inside the IF statement.

I have an excel spreadsheet where you enter the start time and end time for job function. Since some of the times cross midnight, I use the formula J3=IF(I3>H3,I3-H3,1+I3-H3) where I is the end time and H is the start time (format hh:mm). This part works fine, however when I sum column J and change my format to Time 37:38:00 (since it is over 24 hrs), it returns a large number of 2234:48:39 which should be closer to 223:00:00.

Months To Be Sorted In Ascending Order In Pivot Table, Want To Use Multiple Colors In Pivot Charts
My input data for Pivot table has a column named "Month". The month values are like April 07, April 08, Nov07 in random order for period between Jan 07 to Aug 08.

When I create a pivot Table, this column is sorted alphabetically (April 07 is followed by April 08) but I need it to be sorted in the ascending order with respect to month (April 07 is followed by May 07).

I'm trying to make a formula to calculate the difference in a date between two dates. For exaple, in my business we have a due day for something. So the due date could be Feb 10, we need to know if it was done on time, late, or early. So I've gotten it to display late by doing this: =IF(B2>A2, "Late", (A2-B2)) But then I can't figure out how to incorporate this: =IF(B2=A2, "On Time") or =IF(B2<A2, "Early").

I would like to displaly this all in one cell. So if the due date is Feb 10 and it's turned in Feb 8 it's early, turned in Feb 10 it says on time, turned in Feb 11 it's late. I also tried this but it didn't work: =OR(IF(B2>A2,"Late")*IF(B2=A2,"On Time")*IF(B2<A2,"Early"))

Calculate Day Difference Between Dates Excluding Certain Days
I am attempting to get the formula in Column "E" (see attached excel file) to work based off the individual reps 'days off / holidays' (Columns K:P (or more as needed) that they might have. the formula I am using (which works fine) is:

My issue comes up when I am coping this formula for say 100+ rows. When I copy the formula to all of the rows, the (COUNTIF(\$K\$2:\$S\$2) becomes static and does not realize that the row (ie. Row 26 Rep C) has different days off than Rep A. I can manually change the reference for the countif to specify the correct row to their own days but that becomes tedious very quickly. I was wondering if anyone has come across a way to make the countif work based off of that the name in Column B matches the name in Column G then looks 'to the right' and uses the 'days off' that are listed for the corresponding Rep. I have tried a few different ideas but nothing has worked so far.

Refresh Pivot Tables Linked To Pivot Table
I currently have several pivot table that's linked to a single pivot table(let's call it X) in the same workbook. I'm doing this to limit the file size because the data in X comes from a text file that has millions of lines. However, it's such a pain every time I need to update the tables because simply clicking "refresh" does not update those tables that are linked to X with new data. I would have to instruct the wizard in every linked table to point to X every time. I'm trying to write a small program to re-point to X for each of those other pivot tables whenever i refresh data. Import Data From Access Table To Pivot Table - Enable Auto Refresh
I have enable Refresh on Open for my excel pivot table, but user need to click "Enable Automatic Refresh" , only solution i came across is to change the registry setting. Which i dont have access to edit registry(admin disable the access).

Alternate solution i try to use Access macro to automate the process and use Outputto save it as a excel file A. Then use excel file B to update pivot table from excel file A.(as excel A data is always latest)
The problem is i will get "....A file name already exist...do you want to overwrite.." prompt.
Which defeat the automate process.

Any other solution to enable the automatic refresh on open the excel workbook?

Or Access can overwrite the exist file or save it as another file name with timestamp ?

I have made a pivot table and I dlike to identify with a macro the documents with net value over 1000. Then extract these values next to the respective sales documents in an are near the pivot table somewhere. The fields are called Document and Sum of Net value. Of course the pivot is very variable one time it has 3000 records and another 5000.
