Unhide One Row From Many Hidden Rows

Jun 7, 2007

I am trying to create a macro to unhide only a row at a time, from around 150 hidden rows altogether. It is basically to give the effect of adding extra rows to a "table" that a user could then input with new data (I have to do this way according to other set-up in the workbook), but this isn't very important to do with this question. When I do a Format<Row<Unhide from the Excel menu, it always unhides ALL of the hidden rows. I have fiddled around but can't seem to find a way to avoid this happening, all I want is for just one row to unhide. I thought it might depend what cell/s I had highlighted, but I haven't found a way that makes it work.

Unhide Hidden Rows

Aug 21, 2007

I HID 4 rows using this help section. (Format - Hide)

Then, I modified several column widths simply by placing my curser at the top of the column and pulling it smaller or larger.
(I don't know if this did or did not cause my problem) which is simply that - I am now unable to find my hidden rows.

I know where they are supposed to be, but when I highlight them and click (Format - Unhide) nothing happens.

I tried (Find and Select - go to special) and no white bar shows up.

Can sombody please tell this frustrated Newby How to find the rows I just hid 1 hour ago?

If I posted in the wrong place, I appologise as I spent more time trying to figure out where and how to post than I did trying to solve my hidden row problem.

Select Range Of Columns And Unhide Any That Are Hidden

Dec 10, 2013

I have a macro that allows me to select a range of columns and unhide any that are hidden. I am on the sheet "Employees", but the action happens on the sheet "Enter". I can run this macro when I am on "Employees" and jumps top "Enter" and works exactly as I want it to.

Code:
Sheets("Enter").Select
Columns("B:T").Select
Selection.EntireColumn.Hidden = False
Range("M8") = Sheets("Employees").Range("B5")
Range("I7").Select

But when I try to run it as part of another macro that begins on "Employees", I get "Run-time error '1004': Select method of Range class failed", and Columns("B:T") is highlighted.

Columns Appear To Be Hidden But Will Not Respond To Unhide Or Width Change

Oct 6, 2013

I have just been sent a strange file, which I have attached, on its only sheet columns "A" and "B" have data entered in them, but they are not visible. You can access them if you select column "C" and use the left arrow key, but all attempts at unhiding and changing the column width are fuitless.

I have tried selecting the ENTIRE sheet, then Home>Format>Unhide Columns but it does nothing I try selecting the entire sheet, then Home>Format>Column Width and setting it to something, like "20", but again it is fruitless.

I even tried using a macro in the "Immediate Window" to ask Excel whether the columns are hidden (by using "?Columns(1).Hidden" and it returned "False") then I used a similar macro ("Cells.EntireColumn.ColumnWidth = 12.75") and again - nothing! :O

Format All Cells In All Sheets To Protection Hidden On Visible And Hidden Tabs

Feb 28, 2014

I am trying to format all cells on all sheets (hidden or otherwise) as "Locked" so when the sheets are protected the user can't see the formulas. This macro individually selects every sheet in the book and applys the formatting. Is there a way to modify this code to accomplish the same thing without having it actually select every sheet? The only reason it is an issue is that after running the macro you end up on the last sheet in the book.

Formula Error In Hidden Sheets With Formulas Linking To A Sheet Of Same Workbook?

Nov 30, 2012

I am currently working with a hidden sheetname "hide_template" which contains formula linking to another sheetname "rawdata" of same workbook.

In this "rawdata", the contents is updated from time to time.

The problem is when I open this workbook and update the entries in "rawdata", the formulas/results in "hide_template" is not updated and invalid (ie. #N/A, #VALUE..)

This is the overview of process that Im working with:

===> open workbook ===> paste new entries on "rawdata" ==> run a macro to copy range in the "hidden_template" to paste to new sheet of same workbook

I already have a working macro to copy range from the "hidden_template" which works as follows:

===> set to visible the "hidden_template" ===> copy range from "hidden_template" ===> paste to new sheet ===> set to hidden the "hidden_template"

Excel 2007 :: Formulas In Cells Not Being Recognized As Formulas?

Jan 10, 2013

I am running Excel 2007 on Windows Vista Business 32 bit. Recently I have noticed that if I enter a formula into an empty, unsused cell, it is recognized as a formula. If I modify that formula, it is then recognized as text and does not work as a formula. The only way I can get the cell to recognize a formula is to delete the cell and start over. This same scenario does not occur on previously stored workbooks. I have checked all of the flags that I know about, including the Options function.

How To Unhide Rows When Data Is Entered Into Cells

Dec 6, 2009

I have been searching the internet and forums for days now looking for and trying out macros and scripts that will automatically unhide rows once data has been entered into a cell. The data entered is a link to a cell in another sheet. Everything I have tried is close to what I am looking for but it does not quite work, and because I really don't understand the programming details, I don't know what to change in the script to make it work for my spreadsheet.

create a macro/script to do the following:

Various rows in my summary sheet will be hidden as they will probably not be used, but in the off chance that data will be displayed in them, I need them to automatically unhide. The data that might be displayed in them is a link from monthly record sheets i.e. "=Jan!F4" or "=Feb!F32"

And because I am taking data from a 12 month period, I need the rows to unhide if any data is displayed between cell range of F5:AC1705. It is a large spreadsheet of data and it is all linked to 12 other sheets.

Unfortunately, I am unable to attach the file as it is too large.

VBA Function For Hidden Cells?

Apr 7, 2014

I am trying to make a function that will only show the value of visible cells (so I can have excel calculate a slope/offset of a filtered table. I made the function below, and it seems to work pretty well.

Option Explicit

Function Visible(x) As Variant
Application.Volatile
If x.Rows.Hidden Then
Visible = ""
ElseIf x.Columns.Hidden Then
Visible = ""
Else: Visible = x.Value
End If
End Function

However, when I try to use it in an array formula instead of with an individual cell (example, {=SUM(Visible(A1:A10))} ), it only evaluates the hidden property on the first cell. So if the first cell is hidden, all cells will be blank, and if the first cell is not hidden, all values are summed, regardless if some of the later cells are hidden.

I usually use the IF and IFERROR functions with the SUM functionto filter out values I don't want, and I assumed I could do the same with this custom function.

Hide / Unhide Cells Based On A Date Range

Mar 18, 2014

I am very new to VBA. I need to have a code that will hide/unhide cells based on a date range.

Cell A1 contains the formula for todays date, based on that answer, I want to hide/unhide columns based on a weekly date range.

Ex.:

Today is 03/18/2014 I want excel to say If A1(Today) is greater than 03/14/2014 and less than or equal to 03/21/2014 then unhide column E and hide the rest.

Then let's say Today is 03/22/2014. I want excel to say If A1(Today) is greater than 03/21/2014 and less than or equal to 03/28/2014 then unhide column F and hide the rest.

columns in questions are D-AC

Capture Cells From One Sheet Into Another. Hide/Unhide Sheets

Oct 9, 2009

There is 2 parts to my question and I will explain them as best as i can.

1. I have a front sheet and 12 other sheets ( 1 for each month of the year) they all have the same layout. On my front sheet I want to create a button which will capture the sheet onto my front sheet for the current month, whether this means to make 12 buttons to choose which month is displayed on the front sheet or one that detects the date by system time i dont mind.

2. These 12 sheets will ideally be hidden and what I am wanting is again, on the front sheet 12 buttons for each sheet to bring up the corresponding hidden sheet so they can be viewed, and then on each of the 12 sheets another button which will hide them and return the user to the front sheet.

Search In Cells Hidden By Filter

Jun 10, 2009

So the find method works on visible and hidden rows depending if you use LookIn:=xlValues or xlFormulas; however, it does not work on hidden rows caused by a filter.

I have a range that is filtered, and I want to find a value in a column that may or may not be the filter criteria (and thus hidden). I do not want to show all the data, do the find, then reapply all the filters again. I could loop through the column, but I am looking to see if Excel offers a more efficient way.

Exclude Hidden Cells In Average

Jul 18, 2007

I have a large data table that has autofilters on the headings.

I also have a "Data Summary" Sheet in which I would like to get a conditional average.

Here is my *working* array formula:

=AVERAGE(IF('Data Table'!$C$10:$C$65536=A2,'Data Table'!$BP$10:$BP$65536))

The problem is, it averages all cell values (conditional upon the C column's cell being equal to A2 of course), whereas I only want to average the VISIBLE cells that match the condition.

I have tried using a little VBA with:

Function Vis(Rin As Range) As Range
'Returns the subset of Rin that is visible
Dim Cell As Range
Application.Volatile
Set Vis = Nothing
For Each Cell In Rin
If Not (Cell.EntireRow.Hidden Or Cell.EntireColumn.Hidden) Then
If Vis Is Nothing Then
Set Vis = Cell
Else
Set Vis = Union(Vis, Cell)
End If
End If
Next Cell
End Function

and then trying the formula:
=AVERAGE(IF(Vis('Data Table'!$C$10:$C$65536)=A2,Vis('Data Table'!$BP$10:$BP$65536)))
but it does not work.

VBA - Copying Hidden Cells Without Turning Off Autofilter

Jul 9, 2014

I am working on a file with different users entering information on different sheets (tracking the status of individual projects and activities). Using the macro below (which I found in the forums), the individual data will be combined on a master sheet. My problem is that some of the users will be using autofilters to filter their own data (for example--filtering to show only the "Open" projects). When I do the copy of the individual data, I want ALL of the data, not just the data that is being shown by the individual filter settings.

At first, I just turned the individual filters off before copying the data. The other users have asked if there is a way around this or alternatively, restore the filter values after the copy.

A key point, there are currently 8 user sheets. Each user is allowed to set their own filters and change them at will-e.g. one day, a user may filter on projects due in Q3, another day she may be looking at all projects closed in 2013.

VB:
Sheets("Combined").Select
ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.Delete
Dim J As Integer
On Error Resume Next

[Code] .....
