Formula Error In Hidden Sheets With Formulas Linking To A Sheet Of Same Workbook?
Nov 30, 2012
I am currently working with a hidden sheetname "hide_template" which contains formula linking to another sheetname "rawdata" of same workbook.
In this "rawdata", the contents is updated from time to time.
The problem is when I open this workbook and update the entries in "rawdata", the formulas/results in "hide_template" is not updated and invalid (ie. #N/A, #VALUE..)
This is the overview of process that Im working with:
===> open workbook ===> paste new entries on "rawdata" ==> run a macro to copy range in the "hidden_template" to paste to new sheet of same workbook
I already have a working macro to copy range from the "hidden_template" which works as follows:
===> set to visible the "hidden_template" ===> copy range from "hidden_template" ===> paste to new sheet ===> set to hidden the "hidden_template"
I have a database (attached) that has data entered into the "Progression" sheet. This data is continually updated, and once each row has a section date, I have a macro that moves the data from "Progression" to the "Complete" sheet (and from there, into a specific month sheet). I AM REALLY CONCERNED with data accidentally getting deleted (especially when/after getting moved to "Complete"). I know that you can link cell values from one worksheet to another, but since my data is continually changing in the Progression and Complete sheets, the linkage wouldn't maintain the correct cell values from day to day. Is there a better approach to creating "backup" data in excel than this linkage option? Preferably something that runs in the background without my input?
An option could be that I move my data from Progression into both the Complete sheet and then a hidden "Master" sheet when I run the macro. If I chose that route, how would I modify my coding to include transferring to the Master sheet as well?
Lastly, a simple linkage between the Master sheet and another sheet in a second workbook should be sufficient as a backup method?
I enter my formula: =COUNTIF('path[filename]tab'!$AH$11:$AH$300,"yes")
So this formula works fine when I have the other workbook open, but the next day when I open up the file (with the formula in it) and I click "update" button on the "this workbook contains links to other data sources" popup I get a #VALUE! error in the cell. Does anyone know how to correct this?
As soon as I open up the linked workbook the error goes away, but I didn't think this is how its supposed to function. I thought you didn't have to open up any linked documents. All the documents are on my desktop, so its not a share drive issue.
To test it out, I tried doing just a simple link to cell A1 in the other workbook and that works fine, so I'm thinking its the COUNTIF function that causing the problem.
I have been sent a workbook which contains a number of formulae that reference hidden worksheets (see attached JPEG).
I cannot work out how to display these sheets? The workbook does not seem to be protected, I can edit and save the visible sheet. Can anyone shed some light on how to view the referenced sheets?
I have a macro that copies 2 worksheets of an open workbook "Combined Sales Tool" and saves those 2 sheets in the root of the C drive with a variable name.
I want to know how I can #1 close the newly created workbook, #2 focus back to the original workbook "Combined Sales Tool", hide the 2 sheets that were copied to the new file, then close the original workbook with (and for example without) saving
part of my code below:
Sub esummary() Dim OutApp4 As Object Dim OutMail4 As Object Dim cell As Range Dim filedoc As String Dim intFreeRow Dim emailatt4 As String
I have a large workbook, split into sheets, with very complex formulas in it. I want one sheet at the end of this workbook to reflect all the data from the other sheets, if you know what I mean - so it is ALL the data from the different sheets, in one "all info" sheet.
I also want it to update automatically so I don't have to re-enter lots of data when updating the separate sheets. Is there any way of doing this? I have looked at some of the answers on here but I got very lost.
I've written some VB code in Excel 2003 which hides and unhides worksheets dependant upon 'Yes' or 'No' in a named range. This works Ok in Excel 2003, however if I try and use it in Excel 2007 it shows error 'Compile Error in Hidden Sheet'. When I debug it the error 'Compile Error - Method or Data Member Not Found' appears. The code in question is as follows:
I have two excel sheets, one has partial information (displayName, title, company, streetAddress, city, state, postalCode, Pager, homephone, fax) the other has the missing information that I need on the first sheet.
Sheet 1 (DB1, has partial info) and Sheet 2 (DB2, has the missing info). I need to somehow link these two, and what they both have in common is name. DB1 has "displayName" which is just First Name Last Name (e.g. John Smith). DB2 has First Name and Last Name, but i'll concatenate that to a new column named "displayName" ( which I assume will be needed to link? ).
The missing information in DB1 is title / streetAddress / city / postal code. DB2 has "Location" (which is a company code, and I want to replace the code with the address, city, postal code) and "Group" (which is title).
To make it easier, I could just do a find and replace on DB2 (e.g. A01-DFW-HWY67) and do it that way right? Or is there any easier way to do that?
Other than that though, how would I link DB1 and DB2, using displayName and fill out DB1 with the information from DB2?
So I have a list of names, and I need to keep track of whose paperwork I have. There's a column that says Yes/No.
I would like to link everything to another sheet in the file. So for every name that says "No," I would like that name to appear in the next sheet. And when someone updates the first page to put in a "yes," I want it automatically taken off the second sheet.
When I open attached excel file excel show message that," Compile error in hidden module in sheet 1". and file stop working. this error occur in only in Pc. How I remove this error.
I have a userform which clones the latest sheet and produces copy of it on the next sheet. The first sheet they will be cloning is the sheet called 'template', I however want this to be hidden since I do not want anybody to modify a sheet which basically serves purpose of a template. And once cloned, it is no longer needed.
On the click of the command button, the macro will create sheet1 taking the info from sheet named 'Template' in the same workbook . And now on the next click of the command button, Sheet 2 is created taking the info from sheet1 and Sheet 3 is created taking the info from Sheet 2 and so on. Here is what I currently have, so how can i modify it in order for my scnerio to work?
I have a spread sheet for my checking accounts. There are 3 sheets, BW, QW, and Chase CC. In the 1st 2 sheets row D is named "Category" and the 3rd sheet has the same name but is in column C.
How to link the 3 sheets to a summary sheet keeping track and totals of the categories ?
Example in sheet BW I have a category called "Utilities" and the column to the right of that is the amount. Then ect for other categories.
I am trying to format all cells on all sheets (hidden or otherwise) as "Locked" so when the sheets are protected the user can't see the formulas. This macro individually selects every sheet in the book and applys the formatting. Is there a way to modify this code to accomplish the same thing without having it actually select every sheet? The only reason it is an issue is that after running the macro you end up on the last sheet in the book.
Trying to create a new workbook from another open workbook, then copying all the sheets that aren't called "Summary" to that new open workbook and then saving it. I get a subscript error on this line:
I copied the sheet and redid the format. I renamed the original dashboard sheet from count to "keep" and named the copy after the original "count" Everything still works great - until i either hide or delete the original count which is now named "keep". I get an error at the red colored line below ".publish false".
I am working on a resource management type workbook. In the first sheet,(Project Assignment) managers can enter staff, staff type and hours needed for the next three weeks. In a separate sheet,(Total Hrs per week) I have formulas set to total the hours entered from the first sheet for each resource - using the formula =SUMPRODUCT(--(staffassignments=$B4),--(Week1)) for each week, for each resource. That woks fine.
What I would like to do, if possible, is to present a type of data validation, dialog or popup when the resource's "total hrs per week" total = 40 hours. Different managers use the same resources, so one person may have time entered in multiple times for different projects in the Project Assignment sheet.
Is it possible to use the totaling formula (=SUMPRODUCT(--(staffassignments=$B4),--(Week1))) and an if statement in the data validation or conditional formatting to let managers know that the resource is fully utilized?
i'm trying to get data added in one sheet of a workbook to automatically be entered into another sheet. such as a monthly, Quarterly and Annual balance sheet.
im looking for a basic macro for workbook copying, all workbook(all hidden, unhidden, and very hidden) sheets.
i know how to do unhidden sheets of course however the hidden and very hidden are giving me some trouble...i need to also copy over all the macro's, buttons, and drop down box's as well..not just values.
Basically my code is bombing at the red highlighted code. Error: "Run-time error '1004': Copy method of Worksheet class failed"
Sheet "Blank Form" is a hidden sheet. Can I alter the red section of code to work while being a hidden sheet? I tried a few variations but nothing seems to work..
I have an excel file with 9 sheets and I want to copy all the data from those sheets to a master sheet but with out the formulas . I need the values only to appear in the master sheet. I used the following vba macro code which I found it while I was searching for an answer, it did it perfectly except for the formula part. !! I guess, it has to be edited by adding some codes with paste options but I don't know how!
Code: ' CollectMasterData Macro ' Sub CopyToMaster() Dim wkSht As Worksheet Dim DestSht As Worksheet Dim DestRow As Long Set DestSht = Sheets("MasterData")
[code].....
Note: my headers are @ row 1 and 2 and my formula is in column A.
i am using the macro below to get excel to hide all sheets but the one called "open"...
PHP Sub savemini()
ActiveWorkbook.Unprotect "letmein"
For Each sh In ThisWorkbook.Worksheets If Not sh.Name = "open" Then sh.Visible = xlVeryHidden Next sh
ActiveWorkbook.Save End Sub
So the workbook is protected with the password "letmein", and the VB code above in theory should unlock the workbook, allowing all visible sheets to be hidden with the exception of the sheet called "open". Then is saves the file.
Now heres the odd bit... it works for certain people, but not for others. I have made sure those it wont work for are not doing anything weird and they are not.
The workbook i am using has a code that only opens certain sheets for certain users. I as a master user have access to all sheets. I can go into the users sheets and click the button that activates the macro above myself and it works fine, but for some users it wont work.
I've unlocked it fine, revealed formulas etc, but it doesn't make sense so must be a hidden formula stopping people like me from unlocking the hidden treasures!!!!
At the moment it stops at column V and I can't get it to unhide any further???
I've found a few macros that will automate changing cell references from absolute to relative and they work great. However, when I run the macros on formulas that have references to another worksheet or workbook, the macro will not work correctly.
