What I want is to get the proper category for this number depending upon there digit for eg.
number starting with Z and of 8 digits belongs to group A
number staring with Y ending with 5 and 10 digits belong to group B
number ending with A and which does not starts with any alphabet has 8 digits belongs to group C.
similary ...
A user need to just key in the number, press tab (or any other button) and group for that number
must be displayed (depending upon the compostion of that numbers).
What I can think of is to first seprate each digits from the given number, verify it and then filter them through the groups to get the final group.
My data has a field for "Donor Type." There are about 2 dozen types of and about half of them start with the letters CF. When I do a pivot table, instead of getting 2 dozen rows of data I'd like all the CF donors to be in the same row. Is there a way to do that without changing my data? Some sort of filter or grouping within the pivot table?
how to use the group box to group a number of option buttons together.
Question is, lets say, i have a total of 4 group box. if i want it to work in such a way where by once 2 option buttons are being selected (1 option selected from each group box), the rest of the option buttons in the 4 group box will be greyed out. is that possible?
I have a report which is pulled on a daily basis. I need a macro or a code which searches for the day, one day before the present day, and then custom "Current Day Document Count In" column such that it does not contain "0" and then copy the entire content and then paste in the second sheet. This should be repeated for two days before the present day too. I have attached the spreadsheet, where the first one is the report, second one is where I need the output to be. I have also attached one more "output" sheet to show how the report should look like. I tried to Record a Macro which sticks to the present number of cells, but cannot be used on a daily basis.
I have a excel file with huge collection of data. There are 5 coloumn. 1st is for Business name 2nd. Region 3. Town 4th. Telephone No and 5th.Category.
Now I want to insert category name automatically in that Category Field for each business. There are 4 type of business.
I have a problem using the if formula with comparison operators. I have a range of fields for geographic areas and the values in these fields are a percent. I want to categorize the data based on thier value. For example:
If the value in the cell is between 0 and 9.9 percent, I would like the catagorize this as a "1" and so forth.
Using the if formula I know how to obtain an answer if the condition is exact -if(A1=0:1:A1) but I would like to enter a range of values for the comparison such as -if A1 is between 0 and 9.9 then 1, if A1 is between 10 and 30 then 2 etc.
VB: Something something apple Something something orange Something something banana Something apple something Something banana something Apples woo Apples And bananas Something orange something Something something apple pie Something something vegetables
And I want to separate the list into separate columns/lists with certain keywords (e.g. apple, orange, banana) like so:
Apple Something something apple Something apple something Apples woo Something something apple pie
[Code] .....
The "multiple words found" part isn't a big deal (I'm not sure how I'd deal with it anyways). The "Unsorted" part is there assuming creating the separate lists won't remove the entries from the original list (which would then leave all the unsorted text).
am currently a QE using the following data for my report generation: Date - Week - #Inspected - #Failed Want to pull data into ANOTHER WORKSHEET from this one wherein the format will be :
Month - #Inspected - #Failed
Indirectly want Excel to directly convert the data by input and categorize into Month in another worksheet (will be linked and would be great if according to the date it could calculate the week as well)...so if somebody inputs defects by date it should automatically cumulate into respective month.
What i have is a workbook that can have multiple sheets. Sheet 2,3,4 (if there are) are a continuation of sheet 1. First 2 rows of sheet 1 are headers and the last row of the last sheet (can be 2,3, 4....) is a footer. There are 14 columns (A-N) in each sheet. Col "N" has set status and col I has set names.
What i am looking for is a macro that can perform the following actions in the the set order: 1) deletes all rows where status in col N is "closed" 2) delete all rows where name in Col I is "Many" 3) if there are multiple sheets copy all data in 1 sheet once above 2 are deleted 4) I want to update cell A2, C2, I2, M2 & N2 with Hostel, Direction,Name,Flight & Status respectively 5) Create a pivot table with all data (Col A-N & Row 2 to last) in a new sheet and call it Summary - Pivot I can then manually select how the pivot will look
Currently i am going through all sheets manually and filtering data. Using excel 2007
Every month we have to reconcile our checks and then enter them into our application. We have an option in our application that we can do Check Number ranges. We are trying to find an away to have excel to put the checks in ranges either by a formula, a micro or a pivot tables. We have over 700 checks each month to reconcile.
As you can see, the second column contains abstracts which I want to use to determine categories for each document (each line).
Categories are as followed : Diabetes prevention -> keywords : sugar, diabet*, insulin* Obesity prevention -> keywords : weight-loss, fat*, LDL etc. (5-8 categories)
To target one keyword, I found this formula : =IF(IFERROR(SEARCH("*diabet*"; $B3); 0); "Diabetes prevention"; " ")
What I would like to know is how to add more than one keywords in this formula.
I would also like to know, if it is even possible, how to put every categories in this column, so that i don't have a category per column ... It's hard to explain.
I want to have in front of each line the corresponding column. It means that the formula has to search for every keywords and select one or more appropriate categories.
I'm looking for another excel game changer (for the work I do anyway).
I have a dollar amount, and I want to know if any combination of dollar amounts in a particular range of cells will equal that dollar amount. Is this possible in Excel?
Example: I have 20 different dollar amounts in a column. I want to know what combination of those 20 different dollar amounts, if any, will equal $257.97. The dollar amount I'm looking for and the numbers in the range will change with each use. I'm hoping for a formula, but VBA will work too as I could just make a template and copy / paste the numbers in.
What I am trying to do is to be able to paste 2 telephone numbers into one cell and subtract the last 4 digits of each from the other. for instance entering 4063219225-4063219297 into one cell subtracting the last 4 digits of each number to come up with 72 (9297-9225).
I am looking to count group numbers that are bound to a nomenclature number. So I have made an example below. The nomenclature number is bound to 1. So I want to count all the 1's that are bound to 0912, which would be 5. and the same goes for 1234. the 2 is bound to the nomenclature 1234, so i want to count all the 2's that are bound to 1234. Which would be 3.
I have a worksheet that has 2 columns on it 1 is numbers and the others are names. I want to be able to export a group of names from one of my programs and then have excel match the name and dump the corresponding number into the spreadsheet. I beleive I can use vlookup but I am not certain
Windows 7, Excel 2007. a formula to find the next lowest sequential number within a group.
Here's an example data set, which represents transactions by date and category:
Col A is a user entered Date which will not be in chronological order (unfortunately a sort is not an option)Col B is a user entered CategoryCol C is a formula that gives the chronological sort order based on the date.
The formula in C2:C9 is =COUNT($A$2:$A$9)-(RANK(A2,$A$2:$A$9)+COUNTIF($A$2:A2,A2)-1)+1Col D is a formula to determine if the row is the first chronological transaction within the Category
The array formula in D2:D9 is =IF(MIN(IF($B$2:$B$9=B2,$C$2:$C$9))=C2,"Y","")
This might not be a necessary column, but can be used as a helperCol E is where I would like a formula to give the next lowest value in Col C for the Category in Col B (the order number in Col C for the previous transaction within the same category).
I have entered in the values that the formula should return in Col E in the table below
A B C D E
[Code]...
If the current line is the first transaction of the category, the formula should return the value in Col C for that line (so E2 would equal the value in C2, which is 2).
So the first part of the formula could be straightforward, using the helper column: =IF(D2="Y",C2,
Here's the tricky part: If it's not the first occurrence of the category, then it should return the value of Col C for previous transaction (or the next lowest number in Col C that is within the same category).
E3 would return 4, since the previous transaction for Category A was line 9 C3 = 6, and of all the values of Col C for Category A (2, 4, 6, 8), 4 is the next lowestE4 would return 6, since the previous transaction for Category A was line 3 C4 = 8, and of all the values of Col C for Category A (2, 4, 6, 8), 6 is the next lowestE5 would return 1, since it is the first transaction in Category BE6 would return 1, since the previous transaction for Category B was line 5 C6 = 5, and of all the values of Col C for Catebory B (1, 5, 7), 1 is the next lowestEtc.
I'm thinking I need an array formula to find the minimum value within the category, where that value is less than the value of Col C in the current line. Just not sure how to write that...
How do I enter a formula in excel 2010 that will give the total amount of times each number is in this group. Example : how many times (total) the number 12 showed up , how many times the number 27 showed, and so on for each number that is in the entire group of numbers, from 1 to 80 .
Here is the page I will copy and paste into a workbook sheet from the internet that i want to evaluate the times each number was called.
Very new to all this , I am a bit aged and need not to learn excel A to Z, just need to know what correct statements /formulas have to be entered to do what i desire.
I am only interested in the total count of the small bold numbers 1 to 80, each single digit 1 to 9 and double digits 10 to 80 will be in their separate cells. The large bold three digit numbers and dates/times will have to be erased (manually) before the calculation takes place.
I am trying to write VBA code that groups cells between blank rows and inserts a message if a string of text (a name) is missing from the entire group. I want the code to search cells in column A and group the cells between blank cells. Use the name I input in an input box as the search criteria and insert a message in the Column C next to the last blank cell in the group and then move on to the next group and highlight the cell in red with bold text. I am including a spreadsheet with an example of what the sheet should look like before and after the code is run.
I have date fields as column labels in a pivot table. When I try to group them I'm only given the option to group by integers and not by months, years etc.
I've had a look at the format settings of the column and they are formatted as date fields.
I have several groups of data in the same sheet. Each group has two blank rows above the first row of data. Each group has column "B" in common (e.g., "Phone" in the example attached). I'd like to add a title/label of "Phone" to the first column in the row immediately preceding the first row of data for that group.
In Col X of the attachment, I have manually entered the count of the rows within each sub group, as determined by the counter in Col W. How can I do this automatically? I need this because when I filter the spread sheet by Rank, I need to know how many selections, of the filter Rank query, were in a sub group of ? number.
I have this massive spreadsheet, with the maximum rows excel will fit on one sheet. In the interest of simplicity, this is what the raw data looks like:
Last First Amount
Jones Jim $1000 Jung Joe $700 White Jon $100 Jones Jim $200 Jones Jan $300 Jung Joe $800 White Jon $200
What I want to do is automatically get excel to group all the same names together. Then I want it to sum all the values for each name, then order by largest total value for each person, then order that by name alphabetically. In other words, the above would look like this after the sort:
Last First Amount Jung Joe $800 Jung Joe $700 Jones Jim $1000 Jones Jim $200 Jones Jan $300 White Jon $200 White Jon $100
Or, if necessary, there could be sum total rows under each name...although I don't have spare rows, so IDK. I could delete some rows if I had to, but would rather not.
Conditional formatting. I want to change the color of a group of cells based on data in another group of cells. Example:
If cells G8 and G9 (which are merged) are between 80% and 94%, then I9,I10,I11 (which are merged) will turn Yellow. Also, under the same scenario, IF G8 and G9 is greater than 94%, then cells I9, I10, I11 will turn Red.
I have multiple names in each of 10 groups. Each name will have a number beside it. I wish to have a separate worksheet that will contain only the name with the highest number beside it, from each group.
I have an Excel sheet with one column (column A) and I have 503 000 data rows. In the first 503 rows I will need to insert the data group1. The next 503 rows, I will need to insert the data group2. The data always increment by 1 every 503 rows.
I could do it manually for few groups, but I need to create 1000 groups (503 000 rows). So you can imagine the load of work if I would do that manually.
Does anyone can explain me how to create a macro or anything that could automate this?
Im using Excel 2007 that support more than 1 million rows vs the old Excel versions which is a max of 64 000 rows
If you have 5 option boxes in the group at the top of a form and want to make sure the user of the form selects at least one box before continuing on, how do you do that?
I created a pivot table with daily dates listed from 1/1/2009- 3/31/2009. 3 months worth. I see i can group this data by hours, days, months, quarters and years but what i really need to do is group this by WEEK. Does anyone know a formula I could use to accomplish this?
