Clear/Delete All Formula Error Cells
Jun 19, 2008
I am trying to write a macro to find all cells that are returning cell errors (ie: #REF!) within a named range, to select only those cells, and then to clear the contents of only these cells. It is my understanding that replacing or altering the value is not an option because doing so will return a "" string value, instead of a clear cell. Replacing the cell's contents with a =na() is also unacceptable...these cells to be completely clear. I was unable to piece together a macro from searching around this site and thought it would be best to just ask.

Im trying to make life easier by setting up some sort of macro function that will clear the contents of all the cells except for the ones that have formulas in them.
I don't want to delete the 1st row as it contains the titles for each column.

i created a work sheet with the help of the wonderful people on this forum. my boss loved it! one problem they now want it to automaticly take out a date and time of the cells when the date rolls around again.
example:
12/25/05 late 00:20:06 when 12/25/06 rolls around they want the system to automaticly see it and delete it out with the amount of time they were late or sick ect.... or if the sup was out that day and comes in the next day the system will see that the date has past and will up date the info. the other catch is i need it to move everything up one space when it deletes somthing. i want it to read j18 and k18 as one and so through j and k 40 same for l and m n and o ect.... i attached the sheet

I have a macro which is copying data from several worksheets into one consolidation worksheet. When determining where to paste the data into the consolidation sheet, the macro includes some logic to find the last row that has data in it (using e.Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row, where "e" is a variable holding the name of the consolidation worksheet).
Once all the data is on the consolidation worksheet, I have a second worksheet with formulas that link to the consolidation sheet. The issue I have is that the first step of my consolidation macro deletes all data on the consolidation sheet to ensure that no data is double-counted). I am deleting the data with logic that simply deletes all rows from 3 to 65536. Once these rows are deleted, Excel returns a #REF! error on my second worksheet which is linking back to this data.
Rather than deleting the rows on the consolidation sheet, I have tried using the Clear and/or ClearContents commands instead. This works (i.e., my formulas no longer error out), but results in the consolidation macro running very slowly (~15 minutes, compared to

The worksheet (Payments) contains a list that allows the user to input accounting transactions. Almost every input cell contains a formula or data validation enabling selection from a dropdown.
The worksheet feeds the data to 3 separate spreadsheets (Debits / Credits / VAT) and the formulas for that are contained within dynamic ranges in the other 3 sheets. A command button macro then feeds that data from the 3 sheets to the Master sheet. This all works perfectly.
After the macro is run and the data is copied to the Master sheet, I would like all of the data in the 4 other sheets to be cleared without losing the formulas and data validation, ie so that the sheets are empty and clear for the next batch of inputs.

On the attached spread sheet here is what I am trying to do. In B2 I will either enter D (digital label) or F (Flexo label). With that than if a D is entered nothing else will happen with in spread sheet but if F is entered D23:Q40 will need to be cleared out and blank.

I'm having a problem with a macro clearing a formula in a cell. I have the same type of cell that doesn't have the problem but I can't find the difference between the 2 cells or difference in vb that's making it happen. I have to intentionally cause this to happen but don't see why it's happening. Do I need to attach workbook and describe what's happening? I have been copying and pasting from different sources as well as paying to have it created/started but it was expensive(for me) and I make nothing off of it, just use it at work. I am not proficient in Excel or vb but I'm desperately trying to learn as I go so as not to fork out a few hundred dollars again.
here's atleast the vb for the macros:
VB:
Sub clearclientinfo() '
'
'
'
Sheet5.Select
[Code].....

I am selecting cells from a range by using "SpecialCells" and need to determine whether this produces an error (as it does in the event that there are no cells that fit the criteria) so I write
On Error Resume Next
Then I check the error number and if it is not 0 the next line of code is skipped.
Within the same procedure I do this again, but on a different range and need to check the error number again.
If no error is found, the previous error number will be kept so before running the second piece of code, I add the line
Err.Clear
Is their any difference between this approach or using the line
On Error Goto 0

I want to clear (not delete) the cells with a duplicate date in them while keeping the cell with the number next to it. So in this case they would be A2, A5, A8, A9. I've come up with a code that looks pretty logical but it doesn't work. Here's what it looks like.

I've been pressing on with my project and figured out that I really do not know the difference between Deleting and Clear contents. I really thought they were the same but am now unsure. I guess I have 2 questions. Which is better to use? what I'm doing is removing old data and importing new data. and which is more efficient for writing code.
Sheets("Bodies"). Range("A2:Z65000").ClearContents
Sheets("bodies").Range("a2:Z65000").Delete

I am using VBA in conjunction with an application called Quick Keys (basically software that allows you to program key strokes) ... and with this current project of mine ... I keep getting one of the following two errors:
"Cannot empty the clipboard" OR "Cannot clear the clipboard"
So I Googled, and based on the results it seems it is a VBA related error!

Is there a way to delete or clear a row on exit if no end date has gone into it. i.e. if the user clicks on the X button in the top right hand corner.
Every time the user clicks on start the date goes into the next empty row, if finish is clicked then the end date will go into the cell next to it. See example below. Here the user has started and ended correctly
column
AB
StartEnd
24/10/09 24/10/09
24/10/09 24/10/09
In the example below the user has forgotten to click on the finish button when they first clicked on start, they exited excel instead and no end date was inputted. When the user clicked on start again the start date went to the row below, however as there was no end date the last time, this time when they clicked on end button, then end date went to the first BLANK CELL
column
AB
StartEnd
24/10/09 24/10/09
24/10/09
I would want the delete row or clear row option, which ever would work best, to happen if the user clicked on the X in top right and corner or Exited excel via File.
Ideally I would like the row cleared and not deleted, I have read Clare Watts thread and we both seems to be having a similar problem, I have used some of the examples from her thread but non seem to work. So I now wish to go with a delete or clear row option on exit, if possible.
The row changes every time. The column for deleting or clearing would be A to AB. The end date goes in to Column B
So if the user clicked on start but did not click on the Finish Button then the last row with no end date would be deleted or cleared on exit from column A to AB
column
AB
StartEnd
24/10/09 24/10/09
24/10/09(This is deleted or Cleared of exit via X top right hand corner)

On a userform, I have a listbox named "eList" containing Employee Names.
I have 2 other listboxes named "List_eTrained" and "List_eNotTrained" which list the Training completed and Training not yet completed for the selected Employee.
When I click Name items, it updates both listboxes with information (using "AddItem").
Before it updates, I use this code to clear the info listbox items:
TrainingDetails.List_eTrained.Clear
TrainingDetails.List_eNotTrained.Clear
When I run the form and click on various entries, it works as expected. At random though, I get this:
Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)':
Unspecified error.
And only this line is highlighted in Debug mode: TrainingDetails.List_eNotTrained.Clear
Sometimes it happens after going through several names, sometimes it happens when clicking the 2nd or 3rd name. It's only happening on the "List_eNotTrained" line though--the other line is fine--which has me really puzzled.
I'm hoping someone else has run into this before and might know what's causing this random, unspecified error.....

I have a spreadsheet containing 100 "requests" which can be made by a user
i would like the option for the user to be able to delete a request should they wish it either by deleting a row or clearing the contents
Currently I have a single column which is full of buttons (one for each row)
when i click the button on row 10 I would like row 10 deleted
when i click the button on row 30 i would like row 30 to be deleted etc
is there a way to do this without writing 100 macros which are specific to each line?

I am making a buiness card request form, which I have attached. On the Master Sheet (Sheet 1), the user enters in his/her personal data, such as his name address, phone number, etc. After he/she finished entering all the relevant data, Business Card Layout (Sheet 2) automatically populates and shows the user what their business card will look like.
Everything works fine, however I just realized that the contact information might vary from person to person. Right now, a person can enter 5 different contact information, but most of them will probably only choose four.
I wanted to know how to shift the cells down if the user does not fill out one of the contact information.

I am looking for a formula that either accepts the number in a cell if the numbers on two other cells are "approved". In other words, I have on cell A1 my value to be tested. On cells A2 and A3 I have two numbers. On cell A4 I'm looking for a formula that copies the number on A1 if A2 is bigger then 0.25 and A3 is smaller then 0.35. In not, there's no copy or a N/A appears.

I would like to run a macro that would check if the date in the first cell of row is in the past.
If yes, then it would clear contents of cell in B,C,F,I,L of the same row (PLAN + SHIFTS). Or even better it would set them to 0 (zero).
Then it would hide the entire row. Is this even possible?
Please see the example: Excel.JPG

I am looking for a code that will clear all of my unlocked cell in sheet 1. That is not a problem but since many of the cells are merged I know it keeps throwing me an error saying cannot change contents of merged cells or something like that. Does anyone know how to get around this without unmerging the cells. I saw a code to unmerge all of the cells on a sheet but I really don't want to do this as I already have worked around most of my problems with the merged cells.
