I am using VBA in conjunction with an application called Quick Keys (basically software that allows you to program key strokes) ... and with this current project of mine ... I keep getting one of the following two errors:
"Cannot empty the clipboard" OR "Cannot clear the clipboard"
So I Googled, and based on the results it seems it is a VBA related error!
I'm trying to clear the clicpboard using VBA so i don't get messages asking me what to do. is this possible and if so how? i could simply turn all alerts off but i rather not.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm currently opening up worksheets, copying the data there inside tables and pasting it over to a new worksheet which is basically the summary of all the data, unfortunately because I am moving large amounts of data, half way through the process I get a pop up asking me if I want to copy data to wherever to make sure it's stored or do I want to loose it, of course it's only a matter of hitting the no button to re-write the data so copy and paste carries on working but is there no function in VBA to clear the clipboard after every copy and paste, such as clipboard.clear, or something along those lines? Anything that will stop this message from appearing, I was my summary worksheet to work without popups appearing because then that would mean someone would have to sit there as it copies and pastes values, clicking no every time the clipboard gets full.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've have a tool/code that takes the screen prints of the active window (when I press F9) and pastes it in a word document.
But whenever I do copy some text or any other image and when I press F9 to take the screen print of the active window. I get the text pasted into the word, this is because the clipboard content has text first and then the screen print of the active window.
Instead When I press F9, I wanted the below to happen
1. Content from the Clipboard should be cleared
2. Take the screen print
3. Paste it in the word document.
Note: My tool/code already does 2 and 3. Looking for 1 alone, ,
I have a data table which has a mixture of text, blank cells, and cells with spaces in. I have created a pivot table from the data table. The pivot table is counting the cells with spaces in instead of reading them as blank. I have been able to fix this by putting on a filter in the data table, highlighing all the blank cells only and then clearing them column by column.
The problem is the data table is 50 columns long, so it is quite time consuming to do this manually. The data table gets updated regularly so this is an ongoing problem. Does anyone know of a faster solution to fix this problem? I have attached a snapshot of the problem as an example
If I have 2 columns A and B, I would want cells in A emptied if cells in column B is empty. Otherwise, ignore.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI wrote some code that toggles bewtweeen the word "Yes" and the function clearcontents.
What it does not do, is if you click on cell A1 and change it's contents and you click on the same cell again it does nothing. You need to click on another cell say A2 before you can go and change A1 again.
My code is as follows:

I am selecting cells from a range by using "SpecialCells" and need to determine whether this produces an error (as it does in the event that there are no cells that fit the criteria) so I write
On Error Resume Next
Then I check the error number and if it is not 0 the next line of code is skipped.
Within the same procedure I do this again, but on a different range and need to check the error number again.
If no error is found, the previous error number will be kept so before running the second piece of code, I add the line
Err.Clear
Is their any difference between this approach or using the line
On Error Goto 0
I am trying to write a macro to find all cells that are returning cell errors (ie: #REF!) within a named range, to select only those cells, and then to clear the contents of only these cells. It is my understanding that replacing or altering the value is not an option because doing so will return a "" string value, instead of a clear cell. Replacing the cell's contents with a =na() is also unacceptable...these cells to be completely clear. I was unable to piece together a macro from searching around this site and thought it would be best to just ask.

The macro I have is looping all sheets looking for empty cells in a specific column, and when it founds an empty cell the value for one cell is copied to the empty cell.
But in one worksheet it stops with the error:
Run-time error '1004'
Application-defined or object-defined error
On a userform, I have a listbox named "eList" containing Employee Names.
I have 2 other listboxes named "List_eTrained" and "List_eNotTrained" which list the Training completed and Training not yet completed for the selected Employee.
When I click Name items, it updates both listboxes with information (using "AddItem").
Before it updates, I use this code to clear the info listbox items:
TrainingDetails.List_eTrained.Clear
TrainingDetails.List_eNotTrained.Clear
When I run the form and click on various entries, it works as expected. At random though, I get this:
Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)':
Unspecified error.
And only this line is highlighted in Debug mode: TrainingDetails.List_eNotTrained.Clear
Sometimes it happens after going through several names, sometimes it happens when clicking the 2nd or 3rd name. It's only happening on the "List_eNotTrained" line though--the other line is fine--which has me really puzzled.
I'm hoping someone else has run into this before and might know what's causing this random, unspecified error.....
I'd like to have a sheet with multiple columns of data (say A thru K for instance.). Id like to reserve column A for ONLY imputing an X. The rest of the columns b-K would have data in the cells. I'd like to have a macro that when it saw an X in column A, would copy all of the data in cells B-K in that row, paste it into the next empty row of a second sheet (for history tracking), then go back to the original sheet and continue looking for additional "X"'s and repeat. Once all of the X's were copied, it would "clear" (Not delete because some of the cells would have formulas in them that would need to remain for future use.) the cells based on the "X" then finally move all of the remaining data up to the empty rows to fill in the empty rows. This last piece would be more for esthetics to have a clean looking sheet.

This is different in each column but you will see what I mean. I do want this to be VBA and the real spreadsheet has many columns so it needs to cycle along I guess until Row 3 is empty?

I'm looking for a function that will display the average of a row of cells, while at the same time not displaying any error messages. It's easy to average cells without blank values, but to combine that with no errors is difficult for me. I saw many ways to do the average, one of which is:
= SUM(A1:E1)/COUNTIF(A1:E1,">0")
That function doesn't work for a row of blank cells (i.e., hidden rows), though. The result is an error message.
I also read about a way to ignore an error in a computation:
=IF(ISERROR(F1),"",F1)
The problem is when I combine those functions I get a blank cell no matter which function I put first, and without regards to cell values or not. The reason I want this to be error-free is that I have to average the "average column" at the bottom of the table, too (i.e., F100).
I am using a Uderform in order to check if some cells in several columns are higher or lower than values I set in my textboxes.
However, I think I am having a mistake in my code (it runs but doesnt return the correct informations) as I have blank cells in certain columns.
Concretely I am giving 1 point if the criteria is valid (if for example the value in the cell is <= 1) but some of these criteria are 1 when they should be 0.
As I said it runs but I need to add a fix for empty cells / blank cells and if possible N/A error cells in this so that the code gives 0 to the criteria and moves to the next column (next select case)..

I have a macro which is copying data from several worksheets into one consolidation worksheet. When determining where to paste the data into the consolidation sheet, the macro includes some logic to find the last row that has data in it (using e.Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row, where "e" is a variable holding the name of the consolidation worksheet).
Once all the data is on the consolidation worksheet, I have a second worksheet with formulas that link to the consolidation sheet. The issue I have is that the first step of my consolidation macro deletes all data on the consolidation sheet to ensure that no data is double-counted). I am deleting the data with logic that simply deletes all rows from 3 to 65536. Once these rows are deleted, Excel returns a #REF! error on my second worksheet which is linking back to this data.
Rather than deleting the rows on the consolidation sheet, I have tried using the Clear and/or ClearContents commands instead. This works (i.e., my formulas no longer error out), but results in the consolidation macro running very slowly (~15 minutes, compared to
I'm having a problem with a macro clearing a formula in a cell. I have the same type of cell that doesn't have the problem but I can't find the difference between the 2 cells or difference in vb that's making it happen. I have to intentionally cause this to happen but don't see why it's happening. Do I need to attach workbook and describe what's happening? I have been copying and pasting from different sources as well as paying to have it created/started but it was expensive(for me) and I make nothing off of it, just use it at work. I am not proficient in Excel or vb but I'm desperately trying to learn as I go so as not to fork out a few hundred dollars again.

Can i put the value or range of the clipboard in a variable?
I have a macro that put the cutcopymode at false but i want to put the clipboard in a variable before putting the cutcopymode at false.
I am running into trouble with too much data accumulating on the clipboard in XL2007, so is there any way to set cutcopymode=false (or some other function) so that the clipboard is automatically cleared after every paste event throuout a macro project without having to restate cutcopymode=false after every paste?

Now I need to perform a check on each screen which requires copying something from the screen, assigning to a variable, and checking it. This overwrites what I've already stored on the clipboard. Is there a way to store what I've got on the clipboard, then use the clipboard for something else, and then reload the clipboard?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Office 2002 onto a new computer and found that whenever I drag-and-drop any amount of data from one cell to another, a loud obnoxious noise plays when I release the drag-and-drop data.
I was using the same version of Office on my old computer and did not have this problem.
I'm guessing it's a clipboard issue, since when I open the Excel clipboard (where I currently have all options as unchecked) and copy something so it is captured there, the same noise plays.
I already have turned off Windows sounds via the Control Panel and have no clue how to turn off this sound.

When someone is trying to copy information from or to this workbook the VB automatically clears the clipboard (or at least that's how I understand it), which makes it so they can't paste that data anywhere else. How can I prevent this, but still keep my current commands?
