Clear Contents Of Cells Based On Data Validation Selection

I am trying to find something that would allow me to have a spreadsheet clear the contents of a certain cell based on the selection made from a data validation list which resides on the same row. This can best be described with an example.

The user selects anything but " " or "none" from the validation list, which for this example resides in C5, would trigger code to clear the contents, if any, in AA5. If " " or "none" is chosen the value remains.

This capability should be available for each row through 100.

If I have a pick list, or drop-down list, in cell B21 and one of the options in that list is "Clear", how can I get the contents of cell C21 to be cleared when I select the "Clear" option in B21?

Constraint... Don't want to use VBA.

I am thinking of hiding a formula somewhere other than in C21 that evaluates B21 and does an If Then kind of deal to clear C21.

Updating Cells Based On Selection From Drop Down List Data Validation

I'm using Excel 2007. I would like to seek some advise on how i may update cells after selecting a month from a drop down list.

i have created a simplified version of what i intend to have. One the 1st tab 'Cash Budget 2009', i have filled up a table with numbers, sorted by months. On the 2nd tab 'Dec09', i would like to create an expense table, to be able to be selected by month. So i have created a drop down list based on the months that are created in the 1st tab.

Upon selection of the month from the drop down list, i would like the cells to display (fetch) the data from the 1st worksheet. It would also be helpful if the name of the 2nd tab can be updated to read as the month that is being selected.

I've created seven names in my data validation source list on Sheet 3 in the following range of cells, A2-A7. My data drop down validation list is located on Sheet 1, A2 in the same workbook. I would like to trigger a macro based on the name I select in this drop validation drop down list that will fill out an address, telephone number, and email address in the following cells next to my data validation drop down list on Sheet 1: B2, B3, and B4. I want it to be designed so that users will select a name and have that person's corresponding address, telephone number, and email address fill right next to their name on the same sheet.

Clear Cells Of Values Based On Cell Selection

A project I am working on calls for me to implement a macro that will clear the contents of a cell (but not affect the validation list it contains) based on the selection of another cell or cells. So on the simplified attached example, I need to achieve the following;

On the fist row of options, if cell "C3" is selected, then the contents in cell "D3" are cleared. If cell "B3" is selected then the contents in cells "C3" AND "D3" are both cleared. Similar is needed for the second row of options;

If Cell "C6" is selected, then the contents in cell "D6" are cleared. If cell "B6" is selected then the contents in cells "C6" AND "D6" are both cleared. Finally, if cell "A3" is selected, then ALL of the above cells' (B3-D3 & B6-D6) contents must be cleared.

Clear Contents Of Dotted Selection

I'm playing along with Excel. I discovered it doesn't like cutting and pasting in VBA. This screws up formulas in cells.

It much prefers copying and pasting. So this involves an extra step, going back to the cells you just copied and clearing them.

So I have a selection of cells and I just copied them to a different location. Naturally the location I just copied it to then becomes selected.

I would like to go back to the cells that have the dotted selection around them and clear them. If I simply use Selection.ClearContents it will clear the currently selected cells, NOT the dotted selection.

Command to clear the contents of the dotted selection?

Clear Cells With Data Validation But No Value

In Column C, I have a variable range (usually like, C5:C100000) that has data validation in it. However, only about 10% of the cells have a value from that data validation list in them (which is what I want). I'd like to write a macro that only cleared out the cells with no value in them, so that they no longer had any data validation in them. Is this possible?

I have several cells on a worksheet which contain data validation and force the user to select from a list, and several other cells with free user input. I want to use a macro to clear all data, and return the cells containing data validation to blank. (I have a blnak row at the top of all my lists, so there is a selection for "blank".)

I have no problem clearing the cells requiring user input, but my recorded macro would not select the cells with validation and return them to blank.

The first cell containing validation that I need to clear is M39. I have my code listed below for clearing the other cells. If I could get a clue on how to return M39 to blank, I could figure out the rest of the cells.

The code needs to look at cells X17 and Y17 and continue looking until it gets to X216 and Y216

So - If X = E but Y does not, then the row range C:T must be cleared.
If Y = E but X does not, then the row range C:T must be cleared
If both X and Y = E, then the row range C:T must be cleared

If the letter E does not exist in either X or Y, then the row must be left alone

I'm trying to clear cell contents based on a defined name given to a set of various cells in my worksheet. The cells are not continuous, but since they're given that defined name, I don't think it matters.

The defined name is listed as "CommentsFields".
The worksheet name is listed as "QPRForm_V6"

I found a similar thread, but cannot get it to work with what I'm looking for. I'm relatively new to writing VBA/macros, so I'm not sure what to do.

I want to clear the contents if they are a duplicate of the previous line.

Looking for a macro hopefully. Found many to delete the whole row but just the specific range based upon the duplicate criteria..As there is data surronding that area do not want to delete whole row just clear that specifc area.

Conditional Clear Contents Of Cells

I have a dropdown list in the range E17:E91 containing a list, and two of the values in the list are "DI" and "LTC". What I need to happen is if either of these are selected, the corresponding cell in column F needs to have it's contents cleared. Ex. if in E17 the value is ever either DI or LTC, cell F17 gets contents cleared. if column E contains ANYTHING ELSE, nothing happens. That's all, I've taken care of conditional formatting and data validation already. So even if data is pasted in the worksheet into column E it needs to recognize that and always act in real time.

Clear Contents Of Cells In A Range, LEN=0

I'm using a macro to copy the results of a formula and paste the values only on another sheet. The result includes lots of "blank" rows. I have another macro to get rid of the empty rows and move the information up.

It's not working because the "blank" rows aren't empty. Even though I paste values only, experimentation shows that the cells that appear blank return a false to the ISBLANK test with a length of 0.

So now I think I need a macro to run after the pastespecial command to look for cells within a range with a length of zero and delete the contents of those cells, but leave alone anything with a length of >0.

I am brand new to the idea of using VBA, but I have successfully cobbled together some stuff and can usually modify things to work.

It seems I need to maybe use some sort of IF statement along with a LEN and ClearContents. I don't want to delete the blank cells, just make them truly empty so that all of my actual data stays where it should, and my delete empty rows macro works correctly.

I did a search and see some info on clearing contents of columns or rows, or clearing contents based on the content of other columns or rows, but I'm unsure of how to tell it to search each cell within a range and clear the contents of 0-length cells to make them truly empty.

This is for a booking system. The current VB codes allows bookings to be made by entering a reference number, dates of bookings and room type and bed type. When the VB codes are executed, the cells corresponding to the details entered earlier, would fill the booking table with the reference number and change the colour fill (e.g. yellow) to indicate that the slots are booked. Please refer to attached sample.

However, I do not know how to delete the booking. I would like to assign a cell for user to enter the reference number that needs to be deleted. So when the reference number is entered into that cell, user could execute a function which will clear the contents and change the colour index to none for that particular booking with that reference number(s).

Attached is a sample of the problem.

I am looking for a code that will clear all of my unlocked cell in sheet 1. That is not a problem but since many of the cells are merged I know it keeps throwing me an error saying cannot change contents of merged cells or something like that. Does anyone know how to get around this without unmerging the cells. I saw a code to unmerge all of the cells on a sheet but I really don't want to do this as I already have worked around most of my problems with the merged cells.

I have a worksheet from which I regularly clear all contents by selecting all the rows and selecting 'Clear Contents' from the right button menu. However, I now have added a formula in Col Y that I want to protect. I know I could select all columns up thru X, but that would clear the R1 headers, so I want to avoid doing that. I can always work around, but I'm curious, is there a way to clear only values and thus protect the formulas when using the Clear Contents command?

I am trying to change this code to clear the contents of the last column of my "Master sheet". I am having trouble indexing to the last column, however. I found this code online but it looks much more complicated than it needs to be. Is there any way to do this easier/change this code to fit my needs?
