Closing Userform When Opened Via Array
Dec 18, 2012
I have a userform that opens, and allows the user to enter data into it for each row where a specific cell is blank. If the user hasn't updated in a couple of days that could be 15-20 entries that need to be made. Currently when the user clicks the close button the userform closes the form for the current row and shows for the next row, acting more like a Next button. I would like to be able to assign Previous, Next and Exit, where exit closes all instances of the userform, and not just the one the user currently sees. Even if we cant do previous and next, the exit button is really important sot he user doesnt have to click through in order to exit the userform.
The following is the code that brings up the array, followed by userform code
Code:
Sub ErrLogSupEntry()
'Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Set wsErrLog = Worksheets("Error Log")
UserName = Environ("UserName")
If UserName = "09070403" Then
[Code] ........

The Macro asks the user to point at the location of a report, it then copies information out of that report and pastes it into a master sheet. The part I am having trouble with is closing the file that data has been copied from.
I have tried different things to close it such as

I have a userform which opens when the workbook opens. Ideally Id like to have the userform open without the workbook coming up and have the workbook close when you close the userform. If thats not doable then is there a way to just close the workbook when the userform is closed?

I wrote this macro where, from a userform, I click a button and it will fillout another form with certain data from the original WB to a different WB.
All is working fine and exactly the way I want it except, it won't close and save the other sheet. It will go back to the userform, as I want it to, but it will leave the other file in the background open.
This is the code:
Code:
Private Sub CommandButton6_Click()
'Allocation file fill out
Dim alloc As String
Dim allwb As Workbook
Dim ABA As Workbook
Dim Prompt As String
'Dim fd As FileDialog
Set ABA = ThisWorkbook
[code]....

I have a Userform in Excel.
My requirement, is whenever I open the Excel file, it should open the userform and should not show the excel file at all. And the form is closed, the excel file should be saved and closed.
Also, I need the minimize button on the form and in the taskbar, it should not display the Excel file, it should display only the Userform.

I'd like to keep a progress bar userform I created in front of other windows that are opened by a module that is scanning through the data within each file. While files are opened, I want teh progress bar to stay shown at all times. Within the module opening and scanning the documents I show the userform as follows: userform1.show false
I've serached the site and found a link that supposedly explained how to do this but the site is worthless.

I have a userform that has validations in it. One of the validations is to ensure the user has entered in a correct date. Right now if the user has the correct date in the form, but decides they no longer want to add any data into the spreadsheet using the userform, they can simply click the Close Form button at the bottom of the form and the form will close out.
I just discovered however that if the user inadvertently put in an incorrect date and then attempted to close the form, the validations will not allow the user to close the form until they have corrected the date. I would like to set up my close form button to close the form no matter what data has been entered into the form. Basically have it so the close form button overrides any validations within the userform coding. Currently I only have unload me within the cmdClose_Click() sub routine, It looks like this:
[Code]....
Could I use something to the effect of clearing all fields when the close form button is clicked...
[Code] ....
Would this work???

I have a userform for inputing a range of vehicle details. It will not let the user add the details unless all fields are complete.
If the user complets some of the fields and closes the form it will not save any information.
They must use a command button to close the form (the red X will not show)
I am looking for a way for a warning msg box to appear when they select the close form button

I have two workbooks (Book1 and Book2). When Book1 opens, its Workbook Open procedure displays a Userform1 that has two Command Buttons. The first Button closes Book1 (exit the program). The second Button opens Book2. Book2 has a Workbook Open procedure that should close Book1 and display a new Userform2. When the Workbook Open procedure of Book2 closes Book1, the procedure stops there and does not show the UserForm2. How can I get the Workbook Open procedure of Book2 to execute both steps of closing Book1 and showing Userform2? This must be done by clicking the second Button on Userform1.

I have a MultiPage User Form, it has 2 tabs within the User Form.
I want to display Tab #1 (the first tab) as the 'visible/active' Tab for the user upon opening the user form. How do I do that?
Usually, I would open a User Form with frmMyForm.Show in a private module, to show the form. But now I have 2 Tabs, and want to select a certain Tab upon opening it?

Excel will hang up as if it's gone into a continuous loop (Although no looping macros are active) when you open or close a user form. The task bar in Excel will flash Ready Calculate. Visual basic reports no code is running but excel either crashes or becomes very unresponsive. I have to exit and reopen excel in order to fix the problem . It also doesn't happen at any one specific point it can vary. I have various VLOOKUPs around the workbook and userforms display the correct information. I use the INDEX formula in the control source of textboxes. I also use the offset formula to make sure DTPICKER displays correctly.
I am using 'Option Explicit' at the start of all my code. I have tried a 3rd party code cleaner. No visual Basic references are MISSING

I am using a macro to concatenate and sum values in a worksheet. It uses an array function in which it uses column numbers to put values in an array. With the column numbers "hardcoded" in the macro (e.g. myKeys = Array(1)), it works fine. But, when I created a userform so that I can change the values based on user input, I get a "Type Mismatch" error.
Attached is the workbook with both the working and non-working macro. Button labeled "No Form" is the one that is working, button labeled "Form" does work.

I would like to make up an array that includes certain userform controls, such that I later on can use a loop to run through those controls.
My Problem:
First, in line 1 the Sub cbStep1_Click calls the Sub unloadSlotValues, but then the latter throws me back directly to the Sub cbStep1_Click into the next line (line 2). There is no error or something, the rest of unloadSlotValues simply gets ignored. How can I ensure to loop through all my userform controls listed in that array? (Finally, there'll be around 15 controls, I think.) Maybe my array-initialisation is incorrect?
This thread extends a simillar one you can find How to clear userform controls
Private Sub cbStep1_Click()
Call unloadSlotValues '<-- 1. line
frmStep2.Enabled = True '<-- 2. line
frmStep3.Enabled = False '<-- 3. line
End Sub

i'm trying to develop an array that is populated when a userform is activated. The userform has a command button that when pressed, will cross check the information filled out in the userform with the entries in the array. If there are no matches then the array is ReDim and the new information is added to the array. Once all the entries have been made. The array is then transposed to a sheet titled "Database". My problem is that vba is not allowing me declare a public array.Below is the first part of the code. Which is when the userform is activated.
Private Sub UserForm_Activate()
With Sheets("Resources")
cbZIP.List = .Range("A2", .Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp)).Value
cbBED.List = .Range("B2", .Range("B" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp)).Value
cbBATH.List = .Range("C2", .Range("C" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp)).Value
cbSTABRV.List = .Range("G2", .Range("G" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp)).Value
End With

Is it possible to count the number of comboboxes on a userform? Or better yet can I fill an Array with all the combobox names on a userform? I can count the controls on a userform but I'm trying to count just the comboboxes? Instead of all the labels and textboxes and frames.
I would like to loop through them for validation instead of doing it by each one by itself!

I am trying to figure out how to make a userform to display the contents of a 2-D array which has a variable number of rows. I want the userform to height of the userform to correspond with the number of rows of data to display.
I don't have much experience with userforms, but here's what I was thinking:
VBA code which would find the # of rows of data and then adjust the height of the userform and the length of the lable (which the data would go in).

I have a userform where the user enters prices for up to 12 items in textbox controls, and these prices are stored in an array. The textboxes are titled tbPrice1, tbPrice2, etc. I'm having an issue with the line of code I am using to store the values in an array. Every time I attempt to store them, I get runtime error 13 type mismatch, but I don't understand why.
dim PartPrices(1 to 12) as Currency
For x = 1 to 12PartPrices(x) = IIf(Trim(Me.Controls("tbPrice" & x).Value) & vbNullString = vbNullString, CCur(0), CCur(Trim(Me.Controls("tbPrice" & x).Value)))Next
A little more explanation here. Not all 12 parts will have prices, so I use the IIf statement to store the value 0 whenever the user has left a price field blank. I use trim in case they leave spaces in the price textbox or something. When the field is not blank, I take the value entered in the textbox, convert it to currency and attempt to store it in the relevant element of the array.

I am trying to pass a string array into a form. I have added a member string array to the form, and a property to "Let" the array in the the member array.
Private sFormString() As String
Property Let FormString(value() As String)
sFormString = value
End Property
I can pass a string in using a procedure:
Sub StringArrayTest1()
Dim TestString() As String
Dim frmString As FString
but I cannot "modulate" the code, or else I get an internal error (error 51). I.e. this code doesn't work:
Sub StringArrayTest2Mod(TestString() As String, frmString As FString)
frmString.FormString = TestString
End Sub
Sub StringArrayTest2()
Dim TestString() As String
Dim frmString As FString
Set frmString = New FString
Redim TestString(1 To 2)
TestString(1) = "Cat"
TestString(2) = "Dog"
Call StringArrayTest2Mod(TestString, frmString)
End Sub
Does anyone know why this happens? Obviously, in the example code its not an issue, but the application I'm using this for is more complex, and some modulation here would be good.

Though VBA is very similar to VB6 (which is what I took a course in a few years ago) there are some things I can't figure out. One of them is ending and closing a procedure (i.e. if an "if then" statement is not met). In VB6, if I remember correctly, you would use "Me.Close". What is a similar method in VBA for taking this action?

Right now I have to click save as soon as I open it. If I do not do this when I open it, when I open it again the contract number will stay the same as it was, because I save it at the end after I put all customer info in.
