Control Down With Macro

Oct 9, 2007

I record a macro that copy a portion of a tab to another, but when my data changes the destination get data one above the other. I think it is because instead of sending Control Donw it goes to the cell that I recorded the macro with.

I probably just need to send Control downkey....

Userform To Control Macro Features. Macro = Search For File Type

Jan 26, 2009

I have a macro that I found somewhere on the net to look within a folder and list all the files of a certain file extension.

The macro to do this is in the attached example and is called 'Get_File_Names_Within_Dir_ext'.

I have created a basic userform outline, 'UF1' for the user to define:
Select File Extension
Select Folder to Search
Destination Sheet

I just don't have any idea how to sync the two.

If you type 'exe' into 'TB1_File_Extension' of 'UF1' the macro should search for '*.exe' files within the specified folder.

The search folder 'RefEdit1' box should open a windows explorer box (or some such) so that the user can select the directory in which to search for the previously specified file extension.

'TB2_Destination_Sheet' is a text box for the user to type the sheet within the workbook in which to list the files found within the specified directory.

'CB1_Find_Files' should activate the macro to find any files for the specified criteria.

There is also a Button 'Find File Types' in Sheet1 of the file which should activate the userform 'UF1'.

Macro - Control End To Last Row And Paste To NEXT Row

Nov 9, 2013

I am venturing off on to my 2nd Macro Formula. This one is a little different than my first and I am not sure where to start, to correct the piece I am missing. I am able to create the basics, I have added the "Last Row" formulas. The piece I am missing, when I control end & "paste", it is pasting on the last row with content. I need it to paste to the row BELOW the populated content. Here is my current smaller sample of what it is doing.

Out Of Control Insert Row If Macro

Nov 15, 2007

I am trying to build a macro to insert a row or two rows under an existing row if a formula returns a '2' or a '3' in the first cell of the existing row. This is what I've come up with so far and the first bit works fine but when it comes to inserting the rows it just spirals out of control, inserting never-ending rows.

Private Sub Labels1_Click()

Columns("A:A").Select
Selection.Insert shift:=xlToRight
Range("A3:A2000").Formula = "=ROUNDUP((Q3/300),0)+1"

With Sheets("Sheet1")
' Test Condition 1
For Each c In Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("A3:A2000")
If c.Value = 2 Then
c.EntireRow.Select
Selection.Insert shift:=xlDown
End If
Next c

Control Macro With Times

Nov 6, 2006

I am looking for code that will start a macro by counting in seconds prior to an event according to it's due time.

Cell Value A4, A12 A20,( more could be added, depending on how many workers are present at the office at the time)

So if worker A is due to start a task at 1.00 pm, then 45 seconds prior to that event the worker can be notified.
( Cell Values A4 and D4 )

Then there are multiple tasks to be performed and each task is reminded in seconds after or before the set times the events ( Act) is due to start.
The code would keep checking every 1 minute for a new list of events between the hours of 9-5 (Variable)

Run Macro When Form Control Checkbox Changes

May 30, 2013

I have many Form Control Check Boxes that all link to another sheet on row 3.

I have many changes to make but only want to implement the change related to the check box.

This code works perfect when you manualy type true or false on row 3 but not if the check box makes the change.

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
ThisCol = Target.Column
If Target.Row = 3 Then
RESULT = MsgBox(Cells(1, ThisCol) & " = " & Cells(3, ThisCol), vbOKOnly, "CLICK RESULTS")
End If
End Sub

Why does this not work when a check box changes the value in row 3?

Control Print Range Macro

Jan 11, 2008

the macro simply copies a master sheet, then re-organizes/re-sorts the raw data in the new sheet. At the end, I'm trying to set a print range to 1 page wide and inifinity pages long, figure out where the end of the fourth page is, then reset the print range to accommodate four pages. In case it matters, the macro starts with a form that allows the user to input a company ticker and name used in output.

The problem is that when I use the debugging step function (very tedious), it works perfectly. But when I run it normally, it locks up for about 30 seconds when setting the print range to 1 page wide, and cuts off the print range vertically at just over 2 pages tall. Brief explanation of a couple variables:

ColLetter is a function as follows:
Function ColLetter(ColNumber As Integer) As String
ColLetter = Left(Cells(1, ColNumber).Address(False, False), 1 - (ColNumber > 26))
End Function
ActiveSheet.PageSetup.PrintArea = "$A$1:$" & ColLetter(j + 3) & a + 7 .............................

When I go to protect certain cells and lock them and the activate sheet protection, suddenly my form control buttons with the assigned macros don't work.

I still need to protect some cells with formulas and don't want to leave the whole worksheet unprotected, but in order to allow the form control button macros to run, it appears that's what I have to do....or, is there another way to do this?

Can ActiveX Control Button Macro Be Placed In Regular Module

Or is the only way to accomplish this is to have the macro in the regular module being called from the button macro in the sheet module?

I somehow seem to remember a way to move/assign an Active-X ControlButton macro to a regular module, but maybe I'm wrong?

(also the .TABINDEX is for the multipage regardless of the on-page control) I use a generic data-field change SUBroutine so need the control name (and the TABINDEX) to provide my SELECT CASE. WHen we recorded our macro, it finds the first instance and we hightlight the whole row and 'control' 'shift' 'end' and delete all of the rows. We did this because we sorted and made sure the information we wanted to delete was at the bottom of the worksheet. we realized that each day the spreadsheet we pull from an ip address gets bigger and the row that we started from to delete starts on a different row each day. I don't know if it matters, but I'll add that I plan to add a second button that does the same thing with a different column of data. I assume I'll simply replicate whatever procedure I use in the first button - is this okay?

This is weird - if you delete a sheet that contained a control then

a. showing a modeless userform resluts in a userofrm that goes invisible at subroutine End
b. public variables lose their value

These things do not happen if the sheet did not contain a control. Attached is an example file - put the inputfile.xls in your default file location (or add a path in the code) then open the ProblemDemo.xls and run the main macro to see it fal - isthis another Excelbug I've found?

VBA Calendar Control Without Control

My problem that I’ve tried to resolve for some time is utilizing some type of pop-up calendar to eliminate format issues in my published Excel forms. I have tried a number of calendar controls but all have to be registered on the local machine and this cannot be guarantied for every machine.

If someone could direct me to a vba UserForm that has this built in that might do the trick. Or is their another way to deal with this?

Control Code Causing Other Control Code To Run

Jun 12, 2007

I have 2 macros: 1 controlled by a checkbox activex (PA_03) and the other a combobox (PA_03_rows) in a worksheet. I display the results from PA_03, and the user than then increase or decrease the number by using the combobox. But when I change the value (PA_03_rows.value = x) it causes the macro to jump to the macro.

I don't think it did initially, but it does now. According to another post, I saw it shouldn't do it! Is there something I'm just not seeing here?

Private Sub PA_03_Click()

Dim PA_rows As Integer

If PA_03.Value = False Then Goto Hide:

Unhide:
message = "Enter the number of input rows required (1 to 50)"

Multipage Control

Aug 23, 2007

I am creating a bar inventory/"numbers" sheet for a corporation. I have been searching on and off for a week or so to find an answer or a tutorial on what I am looking to implement into this worksheet. I want to take a userform, with a multipage control, and have the control for each tab, show me a different part of the worksheets. For instance, the first tab would be inventory, the second tab would be ordering, the third tab would be weekly numbers, etc ... I am wondering how to "add ranges to the multipage control in order to make it a "viewer". I have found tutorials on how to print, enter info into the form and save it to the sheets using a button, but I can't find a tutorial on how to implement the control on how to make tabs show the ranges. Can someone point me in the right direction on a tutorial, or maybe if willing a small spreadsheet with a mulitpage control on it, showing how to add the ranges from different worksheets?

Better Calendar Control

May 20, 2009

I'm trying to make it so that when a user clicks on a certain cell, a calendar pops up so they can pick a date. This seems like a pretty common thing to want; I hope Microsoft puts it into the next release.

Anyway, I've read the tutorial found at [url]which tells you how to create a userform, add the calendar control to it, etc.

I've also modified it so that the calendar comes up when the user clicks on a certain cell, and so that the form closes when they choose a date.

I had to use the selection_changed subroutine to tell if someone clicked on the cell, but there are some flaws.

First, moving over to the cell with the keyboard arrows brings up the calendar (undesired result; I only want it to come up with clicking)

Second, if the cell is already selected, clicking it doesn't bring up the calendar since the selection didn't change (also undesired; I would like the form to come up whether the cell was previously selected or not).

UI Control In Code

Sep 10, 2009

There are a few aspects of the UI I'd like to control in
1. Is there a way to force Excel to select nothing? After a sort by macro, Excel leaves the sorted range selected. I can set it to select a specific cell every time, but I'd rather have no cells selected at all.
2. Can you programatically hide the Formula Bar, Gridlines, and Headings?
3. Can you programatically collapse the Ribbon? (Excel 2007 only, of course.)

The last two are intended to maximize the screen real estate dedicated to the body of the spreadsheet, and I'd like to do it in code so that I don't have to describe how to do it to less skilled users.
