Use Msgbox To Control Macro

I have the inputbox so i can set a string value,
When the inputbox Cancle button is pressed i want to exit sub,
If the inputbox value is nothink and ok button, I want the msgbox displayed then goto newname.
If the inputbox has a value do >>>>>>That>>>>>
I have a userform with a command button which fires a macro.
everything works fine so far.
my problem is:
I would like to add a msgbox at the end of the macro which confirmes "successfully completed".
I cannnot simply add the msgbox at the end of the macro. don't know what I'm doing wrong.
(see below)
Private Sub CommandButtonOK_Click().
If Me.OptionButton1.Value = True Then
ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("PropertyWorksheet").Range("A1").Value = "Government Securities"
ElseIf Me.OptionButton2.Value = True Then
ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("PropertyWorksheet").Range("A1").Value = "Corporate Bonds"
[Code].....
Unload Me
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Sheets("MySheet1").Select
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
'run macro
MyMacro1 (adds, hides and deletes various sheets)

I have a workbook with two macros that the user can run individually. They unfortunately take a fair amount of time to complete (approx 1 hour each) so I implemented some timing related code that at the end of the macro completion, it notifies them with a msgBox indicating how long it took to run. With that said, I would like to allow the user to run a macro that simply calls the other two so that they can kick it off at the end of the day and they both will be finished by morning. I created a new macro that simply makes a call to each of the other macros individually. The problem is, my msgBox that displays after the first macro completes, waits for "OK" acknowledgement which defeats the whole purpose of being able to run them both via one macro. I have tried to include Application.DisplayAlerts = False prior to calling the first macro but it is not working. Here is an example of what I am trying to do.
Sub runAllMacros()
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Call compileBookData
Call compileLaborData
Application.DisplayAlerts = True
MsgBox "All Rollup Macros have completed execution."
as you probably already know, when you insert function

1. Calculate (perform F9 manual calculation)

Is there an operator that lets you string multiple macros or do they need to be recorded separately and recalled in one macro assigned to the button?
How would I add a YesNo MsgBox to my existing macro that I have set up through a commancd button? I would like the user prompt to ask the following ? ---> "Would you like to move the data sheet forward 1 week?". Then if "Yes" is selected, run the following macro. If "No", end the subroutine.
Private Sub CommandButton6_Click()
Range("M7:BL156").Select
Selection.Copy
Range("L7").Select
ActiveSheet.PasteSpecial Format:=3, Link:=1, DisplayAsIcon:=False, _
IconFileName:=False
Range("I4").Select
ActiveSheet.Range("L6").Value = Range("L6").Value + 7
End Sub
I am writing a macro for people at work to use to automatically vlook-up data from another spreadsheet.
I wanted to base it along the use of a msgbox as they are not the most tech-savy people.
I want the msgbox dialogue to go something like this -
Which spreadsheet do you want to pull in data from?
The user browses to the file they want
Which columns do you want to transfer?
The user types in the columns
Which columns do you want them pasted to (in new sheet)?
The user types in the columns they want to paste to
and then macro does the vlook-up.
The below code works well. However I would like to give the users an option to opt out of running the code when the message box appears.
Code:
Sub delete_sheets()
Beep
MsgBox "This will delete All Sheets but the active sheet"
*****this is where I would like to use an additional message box or include it in the above message box an option for the user to cancel this code****
Range("XA1") = ActiveSheet.Name
ActiveSheet.Name = ("Delete_Sheets")
Dim ws As Worksheet
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
For Each ws In Worksheets
If Not ws.Name = "Delete_Sheets" Then ws.Delete
Next ws

I want to run a program from my PERSONAL.XLS workbook, however, after a piece of code
where I close all the open workbooks different from PERSONAL.XLS, the code stops running.
How can I contour this?
Down is the piece of code used to close the other workbooks and the msgbox I want to show, along with a DialogBox:
For Each W In Workbooks
If W.Name ThisWorkbook.Name Then
W.Close SaveChanges:=False
End If
Next W
MsgBox "Abrir apenas a Origem a actualizar, que deverá ser obrigatoriamente do mês corrente ou do anterior", _
vbOKOnly + vbInformation, "Atenção"
Application.Dialogs(xlDialogOpen).Show
Im looking for code for a button that asks for a Record number, and it will delete the record. But the record number is written in cells as 'Record No.1' 'Record No.2' etc. But i want the messagebox to ask for a single number and it would delete that record. Now the position of the records is what will be the difficult bit about this code, but it has a pattern.
For Record No.1 i need deleting cells C2:J100
For Record No.2 i need deleting cells L2:S100
For Record No.3 i need deleting cells U2:AB100
If anyone could give me a bit of code that works for these 3 then i could waste a load of time filling the rest of them out.
I have a macro which works well. All it does is save a file to a specified location on my network. However, after a file is saved there is no prompt telling the user that the file was saved successfully leaving them wondering whether the macro actually worked.
VB:
Public Sub SaveAs() ThisFile = Range("X2").Value
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:="legdcAudits" & ThisFile & ".xlsm", FileFormat:=52
End Sub
I have a macro that I found somewhere on the net to look within a folder and list all the files of a certain file extension.
The macro to do this is in the attached example and is called 'Get_File_Names_Within_Dir_ext'.
I have created a basic userform outline, 'UF1' for the user to define:
Select File Extension
Select Folder to Search
Destination Sheet
I just don't have any idea how to sync the two.
If you type 'exe' into 'TB1_File_Extension' of 'UF1' the macro should search for '*.exe' files within the specified folder.
The search folder 'RefEdit1' box should open a windows explorer box (or some such) so that the user can select the directory in which to search for the previously specified file extension.
'TB2_Destination_Sheet' is a text box for the user to type the sheet within the workbook in which to list the files found within the specified directory.
'CB1_Find_Files' should activate the macro to find any files for the specified criteria.
There is also a Button 'Find File Types' in Sheet1 of the file which should activate the userform 'UF1'.
I record a macro that copy a portion of a tab to another, but when my data changes the destination get data one above the other. I think it is because instead of sending Control Donw it goes to the cell that I recorded the macro with.
I probably just need to send Control downkey....
I am venturing off on to my 2nd Macro Formula. This one is a little different than my first and I am not sure where to start, to correct the piece I am missing. I am able to create the basics, I have added the "Last Row" formulas. The piece I am missing, when I control end & "paste", it is pasting on the last row with content. I need it to paste to the row BELOW the populated content. Here is my current smaller sample of what it is doing.
Sub Macro2()

I am trying to build a macro to insert a row or two rows under an existing row if a formula returns a '2' or a '3' in the first cell of the existing row. This is what I've come up with so far and the first bit works fine but when it comes to inserting the rows it just spirals out of control, inserting never-ending rows.
Private Sub Labels1_Click()
Columns("A:A").Select
Selection.Insert shift:=xlToRight
Range("A3:A2000").Formula = "=ROUNDUP((Q3/300),0)+1"
With Sheets("Sheet1")
' Test Condition 1
For Each c In Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("A3:A2000")
If c.Value = 2 Then
c.EntireRow.Select
Selection.Insert shift:=xlDown
End If
Next c
I am looking for code that will start a macro by counting in seconds prior to an event according to it's due time.
Cell Value A4, A12 A20,( more could be added, depending on how many workers are present at the office at the time)
So if worker A is due to start a task at 1.00 pm, then 45 seconds prior to that event the worker can be notified.
( Cell Values A4 and D4 )
Then there are multiple tasks to be performed and each task is reminded in seconds after or before the set times the events ( Act) is due to start.
The code would keep checking every 1 minute for a new list of events between the hours of 9-5 (Variable)
Is there any way in VBA to refer to a control in its own event procedure without referring to it by name/hard-coding?
It might be clearer to explain by a dummy code example:
[Code] ......
I'm seeking what I would need to replace Line1 with.
Just want to know if is possible control a popoup window through a VBScript Macro in excel? I don't know if I could click a button from a PopUp when it appears? I mean I cant go forward because a popup message appears and I dont know how take the control of it.
I mean how can the parent window take the control of the child window (popup window)
I have many Form Control Check Boxes that all link to another sheet on row 3.
I have many changes to make but only want to implement the change related to the check box.
This code works perfect when you manualy type true or false on row 3 but not if the check box makes the change.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
ThisCol = Target.Column
If Target.Row = 3 Then
RESULT = MsgBox(Cells(1, ThisCol) & " = " & Cells(3, ThisCol), vbOKOnly, "CLICK RESULTS")
End If
End Sub
Why does this not work when a check box changes the value in row 3?
the macro simply copies a master sheet, then re-organizes/re-sorts the raw data in the new sheet. At the end, I'm trying to set a print range to 1 page wide and inifinity pages long, figure out where the end of the fourth page is, then reset the print range to accommodate four pages. In case it matters, the macro starts with a form that allows the user to input a company ticker and name used in output.
The problem is that when I use the debugging step function (very tedious), it works perfectly. But when I run it normally, it locks up for about 30 seconds when setting the print range to 1 page wide, and cuts off the print range vertically at just over 2 pages tall. Brief explanation of a couple variables:
ColLetter is a function as follows:
Function ColLetter(ColNumber As Integer) As String
ColLetter = Left(Cells(1, ColNumber).Address(False, False), 1 - (ColNumber > 26))
End Function
ActiveSheet.PageSetup.PrintArea = "$A$1:$" & ColLetter(j + 3) & a + 7 .............................
Within the ComboBox properties, is there anyway to control after "enter" his hit, you move to the right instead of down (similar to the edit under Tools/Options)?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to call a subroutine anytime any control is changed within a userform?
For example,
I have a userform that needs to go through and add/multiply almost every value in every textbox and also add together values associated with checkboxs. I need this to happen anytime a textbox value is changed or a checkbox is checked.
So I have a sheet with a lot of formulas and form control buttons that have been assigned macros.
When I go to protect certain cells and lock them and the activate sheet protection, suddenly my form control buttons with the assigned macros don't work.
I still need to protect some cells with formulas and don't want to leave the whole worksheet unprotected, but in order to allow the form control button macros to run, it appears that's what I have to do....or, is there another way to do this?
Can Active-X control button macro be placed in a regular module, or does it always have to reside in the sheet module?
Or is the only way to accomplish this is to have the macro in the regular module being called from the button macro in the sheet module?
I somehow seem to remember a way to move/assign an Active-X ControlButton macro to a regular module, but maybe I'm wrong?
I have a bunch of Option Buttons in a worksheet whose properties i need to change by running a macro. For example, I created an OptionButton1 in a worksheet using control toolbox. Now I want to run a macro to change it's name, groupname, linkedcell and caption. I did this macro but it doesn't work:
Sub Label()
Dim Code1 As String
Dim Link1 As String
Dim Form1 As String
Dim GroupName1 As String
Dim Caption1 As String
Worksheets("Section1").Select
Form1 = "OptionButton1"
Code1 = "FButton1"
Link1 = "FLink1" 'Defined in worksheet
GroupName1 = "FGroup1"
Caption1 = "Choose Function 1"
With Worksheets("Section1").Form1
.Name = Code1
.LinkedCell = Link1
.GroupName = GroupName1
.Caption = Caption1
End With
End Sub
I have created a userform within VBA which has a TreeView Control and a Spreadsheet control on it.
I have populated the TreeView control with data and what I want to be able to do is to drag the nodes off the TreeView control to the spreadsheet control.
I can drag onto a normal worksheet but not onto the spreadsheet control (the no drop mouse pointer keeps showing).
How do I determine which control the user is currently modifying on a multipage form (either changing, enterying or exiting the specific control). when I use "userform1.activecontrol" i get "multipage1" as the control name but I need the actual control on the specific active multipage. (also the .TABINDEX is for the multipage regardless of the on-page control) I use a generic data-field change SUBroutine so need the control name (and the TABINDEX) to provide my SELECT CASE. (so every fieldname_CHANGE calls the same SUB [with no parameters])
