Copy/Paste Ranges From Files In Folder

Oct 5, 2006

I need a Excel VB Macro which copies specific ranges from all available Excel workbooks in a Folder and pastes the values in a target Excel workbook in different columns. In other words it would copy Cells F4-F15 from all excel files (say 20) in a folder and paste them in the target Excel file in 20 columns.

Open All Xls Files In Folder & Copy To 1 Spreadsheet

Nov 11, 2009

I’m wondering if this is possible, if I have a folder with say 30 excel spreadsheets (.xls) all named differently (number of files will always change), can I easily write something in VBA to Open all the spreadsheets and copy each sheet over to an existing Excel spreadsheet? For example, have a ‘template’ spreadsheet where the VBA would exist, then have the first sheet, (Sheet1) of each 30 sheets be copied back over to the template.xls? Even better, could I rename each Sheet1 to the name of the file before copying it over? This would basically be the first step in my process of getting the spreadsheet made.

I found this code in a similar question, so how can I rename the Sheet to the opened file name, then copy that over to template.xls?

Is that possible? (looking at about 30 filesfolders so if need be I can define the folder names)

Copy Files To New Folder Path Based On Cell List

Mar 14, 2008

Essentially, the Engineering Dept has given me 550 AutoCad files I have dumped into a folder located in this path: C:/DrawingsDump

From these 550 DWG files I need to manually filter and separate 260 drawings that I actually need to use and move them to a folder located in this path: C:/DrawingsFiltered . This manual filtering process takes a lot of time and is tedious work and it has got to be done everytime Engineering changes drawings because they are not kind enough to provide me a delta list.

In Excel 2003 I have setup a list of all 260 drawings I am interested in and that I call my filtered list. Is it possible to create a script that will enable Excel 2003 to compare my filtered list to all of the files inside C:/DrawingsDump, and then copy only those files that match to my Excel Filtered list and then paste only matching files into the C:/DrawingsFiltered folder?

If Excel 2003 can't handle this, is there a third party application that will let me perform a file management function like this with minimum startup time?

Excel 2010 :: Rename Files In Multiple Folders And Copy To New Folder

Sep 22, 2013

For the last year I have been downloading cash register X1 and Z1 files onto an SD card. Each night's files (X1 & Z1) are stored in a new folder with the naming convention "RP + [DATE]", (EX: RP120910, [YYMMDD]). I have 265 folders! I need to go through each folder, select the Z1 file (I don't care about the X1, X2 or Z2 files) and rename each with the following naming convention: "Z1 + folder_name + .xls". For Example: Folder RP120910 contains the Z1 file named "Z1_T1729.ECR". After renaming, the file should be "Z1RP120910.xls". As the VBA code loops through each subfolder, selecting and renaming the Z1 files, I would like the new files to be placed into a new folder named "Z1Files". Note: All subfolders are currently in a directory named "RegisterFiles". I am using Excel 2010.

Copy Ranges From Closed Files To Active Workbook

Oct 25, 2006

I have a number of files in a directory, with data in columns A:E, and variable rows deep (200-300) that I’d like to copy to the active workbook. I’d like to have a file window open to the same set directory (ie. “CArchives” and be able to select any file in that directory to copy.

Note:
There are 2 separate ranges to copy, which must be done separately because the headings are to be moved 2 columns over - also, there is data in beteen the headings and main data in the active workbook.

Range 1: Two headings cells in A1:B1 get transposed to C1:D1.
Range 2: the files’ data starts at A4 but gets inserted starting at cell A6 of the active workbook.

Copy Data From All Workbooks In 1 Folder And Paste It In 1 Masterlist?

Nov 8, 2013

I would like to copy all data from all workbooks stored in one particular folder and paste them into a masterlist. The masterlist and all other workbooks in that folder have the same table header. How do I write VBA codes do the following tasks?

Options (1 and 2 are mutually exclusive):
1. VBA will go to that folder, open all workbooks one by one, if the data is filtered, then deactivate filtermode, and copy all the data but not the header, and paste it into masterlist and loop to the next workbook.

2. Create an inputbox in masterlist that allows user to key in Week Number. Then VBA will take the value, go to the folder and open all the workbooks one by one, apply filtering using the InputBox value, and copy the related data excluding the header into masterlist and loop to the next workbook. (*If the workbook in the folder is filtered, deactivate filter and then only filter using the InputBox value).

VBA Copy And Paste On Multiple Ranges

Oct 28, 2011

I am trying to write a basic VBA code to effectively remove the formulas from a workbook to reduce the size. I want to save the formulas in one hidden row above the data and have the macro select this row, copy the formulas down to the data, calculate the sheet, and then copy and paste the new calculated info and paste as values

Issues making this more difficult:
1) The number of rows of data is not constant, therefore I believe I need to make vba count the rows of data and therefore know how many rows to paste

2) The formulas are not in every column (E.g. A:C, E:R, AA:AD have formulas)

Here is a basic example:

A B C D E
1 FORMULAS (Hidden)
2
3 [Inv. Typ] [Material #] [Batch] [Qty] [$]
4 [FG] [545] [555A] [5000] [$250000]
5 [WIP] [984] [659A] [200] [$650000]

In this example I would like the macro to:
1) Copy the hidden formulas in (A1:B1, D1:E1)
2) Paste these formulas into the range (A4:B5, D4:E5) (*The height of this range is not constant)
3) Calculate the Worksheet
4) Copy and paste values to the range (A4:B5, D4:E5) (*The height of this range is not constant)

* I would like column C to be left alone.

Excel 2003 :: Extract Variable Rows Of Cells From Files In A Folder To Existing File In Folder

Mar 15, 2013

I need a macro in a workbook to look at all the files in the same folder that have "*att*.xls" in the name and determine and copy from the range A15:W515 only the rows that have data in at least columns A, C and D. Each file will vary as to how many rows there will be and there are more than the files with "*att*.xls" in the folder. The data will be on the only worksheet in each file and the worksheet is named "G2WAttendee_xls" the data from all the files need to be copied to the file called "Consolidated webinar reports.xls" (I am using Excel 2003) and to a sheet called "Attendance Data" and added to the end of the last paste.

At the start of the macro the current file "Consolidated webinar report.xls" should be saved to a sub folder of the current directory and have the date saved added to the name. The sub folder is called "Completed reports". The data in the original file on worksheet "Attendance Data" should be deleted.

At the end of the process all the files that have had data copied from them should be moved to the sub folder "Attendance reports consolidated" (This could be done as each file is closed if that is easier).

I have headings in row 1 of the "Attendance Data" worksheet that match the headings in the various files in the folder (which will always be in row 14 of the individual "*att*.xls" files).

The folder with all the files and the "Consolidated webinar report.xls" file is at path "Z:P and S MEvaluationsWebinar series 2012-13TB".

I also need to leave the cells un-protected, becuase COPY and paste is ok, as it doesnt affect the formulas that refer to the cell. The worksheet and workbook are both protected.

Copy And Paste Special Values For Non Contiguous Ranges?

Mar 18, 2014

I use to have a macro that could copy formulas from non contiguous ranges and paste the values in the same cells. So for example, I could select a non contiguous range like B5:B10, E10:F12, and G1:G10. The macro would then copy and paste the values in those 3 ranges, so those 3 ranges would be values instead of formulas.

I think it worked by storing each range and then looping through each range to copy and paste special values.

Copy Paste Special Values Of Named Ranges

Dec 20, 2007

Been playing with this for some time and can't quite figure it out. I'm trying to copy a named range and paste special value to another named range of the same size. I recorded a Macro that does what I need, and I'll use if necessary, but thought I'd try to consolidate the code a bit and can't get it to work. The recorded macro is as follows:

Sub PasteRanges()
Application.Goto Reference:="DataCopy30Yr"
Selection.Copy
Application.Goto Reference:="DataPaste30Yr"
ActiveSheet.PasteSpecial Format:=3, Link:=1, DisplayAsIcon:=False, _
IconFileName:=False
End Sub

My attempt to consolidate was this:

Sub PasteRanges()
Range("DataCopy30Yr").Copy Destination: Range("DataPaste30Yr").PasteSpecial (xlPasteValues)
End Sub

I get the Run-time error 1004 Copy method of Range class failed when I try to run this. Again, I can use the longer version with no problem, but in the interest of learning and since I have spent some time not being able to come up with the solution, I thought I'd ask the experts opinions before I gave up on it.

In the worksheet with the file paths etc shown below (named "list"), I would like the VBA to show the Date and Time each piece was copied and pasted. For each path I would like to show in the last column if the copy and paste operation was successful ("yes" or "no"), this is more or less the error handeling....
