I am trying to copy the following files to a single folder; I have 200 excel files each in individual folders and each of these excel files is named like this; order_a1.xls, order_a2.xls up to 200. Each order_-.xls is in an individual folder. This is because each member of staff has a folder called orders with their own copy of order_a..xls IN IT. oNLY ONE FILE PER FOLDER. These folders are on a server called F.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need a macro in a workbook to look at all the files in the same folder that have "*att*.xls" in the name and determine and copy from the range A15:W515 only the rows that have data in at least columns A, C and D. Each file will vary as to how many rows there will be and there are more than the files with "*att*.xls" in the folder. The data will be on the only worksheet in each file and the worksheet is named "G2WAttendee_xls" the data from all the files need to be copied to the file called "Consolidated webinar reports.xls" (I am using Excel 2003) and to a sheet called "Attendance Data" and added to the end of the last paste.
At the start of the macro the current file "Consolidated webinar report.xls" should be saved to a sub folder of the current directory and have the date saved added to the name. The sub folder is called "Completed reports". The data in the original file on worksheet "Attendance Data" should be deleted.
At the end of the process all the files that have had data copied from them should be moved to the sub folder "Attendance reports consolidated" (This could be done as each file is closed if that is easier).
I have headings in row 1 of the "Attendance Data" worksheet that match the headings in the various files in the folder (which will always be in row 14 of the individual "*att*.xls" files).
The folder with all the files and the "Consolidated webinar report.xls" file is at path "Z:P and S MEvaluationsWebinar series 2012-13TB".
Need a way to update a single master file. What happens right now is that the cost manager sends out one file to a lot of different project heads and then on having them return back to him he basically has to individually add in all the data. What i am trying to do is that he somehow carries on sending out the data as there are a lottt of projects and then on returning them they automatically update.

My objective is when it saves it to the sheet it also save a copy of that paticular sheet in a seperate location such as H:/applications. View 3 Replies View RelatedI wish for a macro to look in to a directory which remains constant, but then looks within a folder which is specified via a cell value in order to load a specific sheet from each file in to the workbook I am currently using. I wish for the loading to be done without having to open the workbooks manually, so something which opens them copies the data from the sheet specified and then closes.
This data is then to be pasted in to a new sheets within my workbook which are named after the file names that it pulls the "dump" sheet from.
As a side note, I will be using these sheets to produce calculations hopefully automatically as soon as they are loaded. They all have the same "shape" but contain differing data. Will it be easier in the long run for me to use this method of pasting data to new sheets named as their file names assuming there will be around 25 "dump" sheets needing to be loaded or would i be better having them paste all to one sheet just underneath each other with a couple of rows separating them?
I have a requirement to search workbooks in a particular folder with specific string in file name. For example, let us assume I need to find a file which contains the name 'RR' in it. The position of 'RR' will vary with files i.e. 'RR' might be present either in the beginning, middle or at the end of file name. All I wanted is to search for file with 'RR' and do some activity and close the file and then goto next file. I’m wondering if this is possible, if I have a folder with say 30 excel spreadsheets (.xls) all named differently (number of files will always change), can I easily write something in VBA to Open all the spreadsheets and copy each sheet over to an existing Excel spreadsheet? For example, have a ‘template’ spreadsheet where the VBA would exist, then have the first sheet, (Sheet1) of each 30 sheets be copied back over to the template.xls? Even better, could I rename each Sheet1 to the name of the file before copying it over? This would basically be the first step in my process of getting the spreadsheet made.
I found this code in a similar question, so how can I rename the Sheet to the opened file name, then copy that over to template.xls?

Problem: I'd like to automate a process whereby consolidating certain information within many data files (possibly up to 500) into a single tab within a master file.
At the moment there are only a few data files which are manually consolidated by way of manual links but going forward it will increase significantly, hence the need to automate.
I need to consolidate the following 5 cells from each data file A1, A2, A5, A7, A8 (vertical) into a single row within the master file across 5 columns (horizontal), i.e. each data file will populate 1 row in the master file, one below the other. If there are 500 data files there will be 500 rows of data in the master file.
The data files will be saved in a central location on our server and the master file will sit outside this folder, possibly in a subfolder.
Something which would be handy is a link in the master file to each data file, i.e. if I click on a data row in the master file it would jump to the source data file.

Essentially, the Engineering Dept has given me 550 AutoCad files I have dumped into a folder located in this path: C:/DrawingsDump
From these 550 DWG files I need to manually filter and separate 260 drawings that I actually need to use and move them to a folder located in this path: C:/DrawingsFiltered . This manual filtering process takes a lot of time and is tedious work and it has got to be done everytime Engineering changes drawings because they are not kind enough to provide me a delta list.
In Excel 2003 I have setup a list of all 260 drawings I am interested in and that I call my filtered list. Is it possible to create a script that will enable Excel 2003 to compare my filtered list to all of the files inside C:/DrawingsDump, and then copy only those files that match to my Excel Filtered list and then paste only matching files into the C:/DrawingsFiltered folder?
If Excel 2003 can't handle this, is there a third party application that will let me perform a file management function like this with minimum startup time?

For the last year I have been downloading cash register X1 and Z1 files onto an SD card. Each night's files (X1 & Z1) are stored in a new folder with the naming convention "RP + [DATE]", (EX: RP120910, [YYMMDD]). I have 265 folders! I need to go through each folder, select the Z1 file (I don't care about the X1, X2 or Z2 files) and rename each with the following naming convention: "Z1 + folder_name + .xls". For Example: Folder RP120910 contains the Z1 file named "Z1_T1729.ECR". After renaming, the file should be "Z1RP120910.xls". As the VBA code loops through each subfolder, selecting and renaming the Z1 files, I would like the new files to be placed into a new folder named "Z1Files". I have to manually open these select all the data and then paste them into a single worksheet in a different xls file (called master.xls).
I am trying to figure out some vba that will open each .csv file, copy the data and append to the end of worksheet 1 in master.xls. Ideally i would also like it to paste the name of the .csv it has copied the data to in column A of master.xls
Also, the .csv files will not always contain data, occasionally some will be blank.
Both .csv and master.xls will be stored in the same folder.
I have a bill of materials for each job I do, I have multiple cut sheets in one spot on the network that must be individually copied and pasted into the project file for each job. I’m hoping to automate the process. Post extraction dump from AutoCAD, my text file goes into a excel file that the information is used by multiple tabs including a bill of materials.
From the bill of materials, I want to say “if C3>0 get file 10P0044HP2.DOC” . . . I want it to get the file and save to the individual project file. .. Possible I’m not so sure. But I’m not sure of where to start.
