Count Of Dates Less Than Current & Corresponding Cells Aren't Blank/Empty
Apr 19, 2008
I have a formula '= COUNTIF(A1:A5,"<"&TODAY())' that counts the number of expired dates in one column. I want to include a second condition to this formula that will check if another column of dates are blank then they should not be counted. So if for example a1:a2 have expired dates, and b1:b2 have both got dates then they should be included in the count.
Here's what I'm attempting to do: For each column, X,Y, Z, I am attempting to count nonblanks. However, the data was imported from Access and Oracle, and Excel treats what appear to be blank cells as nonblanks. I've tested this theory by highlighting a couple of "blank" cells and deleting them, and my count changes. So, can I get Excel to put a value into my "blank" cells, so then I could filter it out, or create a formula that would only count dates in my columns (which is what I'm after).
This is what I'm looking at:
A B C 1 2/4/2006 2/6/2006 ("blank") 2 ("blank") 12/13/2005 1/7/2006 3 2/20/2006 1/15/2006 ("blank")
In each column if I use a COUNTA I'll get a total of 3, instead of 2 for A, 3 for B and 1 for C.
How should I use the If formula in K3 if I want to sum (A3+D3+H3) only if at least one of the cells is not blank. If all of the three cells are blank, I need K3 to stay blank.
I came with the following that worked with only A3+D3 but when trying to include a third cell (h3) I get a "value" result.
I have a spreadsheet that contains dates in column A, the number of rows between each date can vary. Selecting a cell with a date in will activate a checklist in the form of a UserForm.
I am trying to create a macro that will count the number of rows from one cell with a date, to the next cell with a date, and then resize the selection for printing.
So far I have this;
Code: Sub test() Application.ScreenUpdating = False Set InitialCell = ActiveCell
[Code]....
My problem with this code is that when it reselects the InitialCell, the UserForm is reactivated. Is there a way to achieve the same results without having to reselect the InitialCell, and therefore the UserForm wont pop up? I tried adding the Unload UserForm1 line but it doesnt have any affect, the form still pops up.
sumif problem but it wont work with a countif or average if.
Column A has various names and Column B has amounts, what I need is to count the number of occurances "John Smith" has an amount in Column B. The previous formula I tried was
=sumif(A:A,"John Smith",B:B) but with either countif or averageif it errors too many arguements.
I wasn't sure if Dcount or an array would be suitable but have not used them before.
Pivot tables I'm sure will be the future with this but haven't got to the foot of that mountain yet.
I would typically consider myself a decent Excel user, but I haven't been able to solve this one. Maybe it's just the lack of sleep now. I am attempting to combine 4 cells into one where the last cell contains a date. Below is the formula I am using:
=B3&" "&C3&" "&D3&" "&TEXT(E3,"m/d/yy")
It works when all of the cells have values, but the only problem I am having is that some of the dates (in column E) are blank. When this cell is blank the default date that displays is "1/0/00." If I add the typical, " " at the end it says the formula has errors. The need for the TEXT(E3,"m/d/yy") for the cells that contain dates is throwing me off.
Below is my current code, what I would like to add is once the user presses Yes it also verifies that "Sheet TEOD" has all cells filled out in the Range("E6:E14,E17:E28,E32:E35,E39:E51"). I just want the code to stop and say that "Sheet TEOD" not complete. Otherwise if there is something in that range it verifies the next sheet which is already there and sends.
But I dont want it to count the cells if the entire row, within that cell, i.e. C6:AD6, is blank.
It should only count the blank cells within a row if there has been some data entered on that row..provided it has been entered within the specified range.
I have a spreadsheet where a column has many cells being empty and others with values. I need to use copy-paste skip blanks to another column so it only overwrites cells that contains values. BUT The cells in the column appears to be empty, not blank, when I try use the copy-paste skip blanks it doesnt work. However, when I press delete in every empty cell the copy-paste skip blanks works for those cells.
Do you got a fast method to make all the empty cells blank?
Please see attached workbook. I know for a fact this isn't the most effective way to do this, but I just needed something really quick for a small worksheet that my department at work is using. A1:C7 are supposed to represent 3 different types of "methods" In the case of my worksheet, I just typed random stuff.
Basically, I have data validation in B10. Depending on which one I select (1 corresponds with A1:A7, 2 with B1:B7, and 3 with C1:C7), it is supposed to populate that data. I've done this with nested if statements in D10:D16. The issue is that for options 2 and 3, it shows 0's where the blanks should be.
I have a date on one sheet, and what I thought was the same exact date on another sheet. I want to vlookup off the date, however the values aren't the same. i.e. when I check to see if they = I get a false. They're both formated the same, custom date m/d/yyyy h:mm, and when I ran the check to see if one was text (t=(A1)) I get confirmation that they are both non-text!
I have 2 text cells (A1, B1) that appear to be the same, however, when I typed the formula "=if(A1=B1,"Yes","No)" in cell C1 the result is NO! (see attachment)
I am looking for code that fills empty cells found in columns A-F by copying and pasting the value from the cell of the previous row (of the same column) ignoring columns G onwards. The copying/ pasting then should stop when it encounters its first completely blank row.
I have many sheets in my workbook with many filled or unfilled cells... I want that any cell in my whole workbook should be filled with " " ie a space if it is currently blank (ie don't touch the cells which have some data) and as there are many cells in a sheet .. I don't want to fill them with spaces as the file size will increase... I just want to do this for cells A-1 to AB-200.
What is the way of doing this with a formula or programming ie without macros... (or is macro the only way?) What if I just want to do this to a sheet and not to the whole workbook.
I was curious if it is possible to give a single cell multiple number formats based on what the number is in the cell. So for example if my number is bigger than 1000, I would like to use comas so that it looks like this 1,000. However, if it is less than 1000 I would like it to look more like this 999.00.
I have like 20 columns. I wonder if there is an Excel formula that will count all the non-empty cells across 20 columns. For example, if there are 10 non-empty cells from row B1 to U1 then enter 10 in the result cell A1 and so on down the number of rows. Or, on the other hand, count all the blank or empty cells from B1 to U1.
I am trying to count empty cells in the range from the macro.
Idea is to count empty cells in one row, but cells to be counted are discontinued (range A10:A15, A25:A30. ETC....). Other difficulty is that I can not define the range exactly like this, but I have to use ActiveCell.Offset (0,10) or ActiveCell.Offset(0,11) etc... ActiveCell is A1.
I tried something like this, but it does not work since I can not define the range correctly.
Dim c Dim numBlanks numBlanks = 0 For Each c In Range("ActiveCell.Offset (0,10):ActiveCell.Offset(0,15)") If c.Value = "" Then numBlanks = numBlanks + 1 End If Next c
I have some columns of data that won't get perfectly aligned. The numbers in all the cells are right aligned but the numbers in some of the cells are a few pixels to the left compared to some other cells that appear to be properly right aligned.
I have attached a screenshot if my explanation isn't clear.
I'm looking for a function that will display the average of a row of cells, while at the same time not displaying any error messages. It's easy to average cells without blank values, but to combine that with no errors is difficult for me. I saw many ways to do the average, one of which is:
= SUM(A1:E1)/COUNTIF(A1:E1,">0")
That function doesn't work for a row of blank cells (i.e., hidden rows), though. The result is an error message.
I also read about a way to ignore an error in a computation:
=IF(ISERROR(F1),"",F1)
The problem is when I combine those functions I get a blank cell no matter which function I put first, and without regards to cell values or not. The reason I want this to be error-free is that I have to average the "average column" at the bottom of the table, too (i.e., F100).
When choosing ascending or decending, is it possible to always keep rows with the designated blank cells at the bottom? Trying to prevent the blank cells from popping on the top when i filter by a certain field.
when I sort data columns that contain drop-down menus. My spreadsheet has several columns: "Patient name", "Room #", and "Phone #". Each cell within the "Phone #" column should have a drop-down validation list containing two possible entries: the room's designated telephone number, or NONE. Whenever I add a new patient to a room, these three columns need to be sorted alphabetically by patient name. But when I sort all three lists simultaneously, it looks great- but then I realize that the drop-down lists associated with each "Phone #" cell haven't sorted! They stay in their original location and don't sort with their cell. So the designated telephone numbers for each room are all screwed up.
I am using a Uderform in order to check if some cells in several columns are higher or lower than values I set in my textboxes.
However, I think I am having a mistake in my code (it runs but doesnt return the correct informations) as I have blank cells in certain columns.
Concretely I am giving 1 point if the criteria is valid (if for example the value in the cell is <= 1) but some of these criteria are 1 when they should be 0.
As I said it runs but I need to add a fix for empty cells / blank cells and if possible N/A error cells in this so that the code gives 0 to the criteria and moves to the next column (next select case)..
