Is there a way in VB to count the number of workbooks (*.xls) in a directory.
The outcome must be presented in range("A1").
I was searching through the internet to look for some help with regards to consolidating data from multiple workbooks from different directories into a single worksheet called Summary.
I would like to copy the entire worksheet from different workbooks in different directories into this workbook I like to call Summary. To manually do it I have to open the workbook I want to copy the worksheet from. Right click on the tab and select Move or Copy, select the sheet I want to copy and select the workbook I want to copy this sheet to. Repeat this process for all the workbooks.
The next step is to copy and paste from these sheets into a main summary sheet. The data range from these sheets are starting from row 13 onwards and they may be of different size between Column A to Column W.
For example the workbooks are coming from :
S:Area 1West.xls from worksheet Andy
S:Area 1East.xls from worksheet Bill
S:Area 1North.xls from worksheet John
S:Area 1North.xls from worksheet Albert etc...
I have been trying for months to get this to work by altering code from similar requests I've hunted down on google to no avail.
I am looking to have a "Master" sheet that is populated by data from 30+ individual excel workbooks. Each workbook is contained on a server in a directory "O:JobsJobs In Progress." In that directory are subfolders (named in sequence "C12000 Job1", "C12001 Job2", etc) which contain the actual workbook (Named according to number ie. "C12000 Jobinfo").
I would like this "Master" to automatically pull specific values from each C1200* workbook and paste them in a designated cell so that I can quickly look at specific information contained in each workbook. Each C1200* workbook is constructed the same way.
Short Example of C1200* workbook in which data will be pulled from:
Job Number
C12000
PM
Abe Lincoln
Foreman
Thomas Edison
Contract Date
1/1/10
is it possible if I have a directory like the following
[Code].....
with .csv files which are placed in arithmetic order 01,02,03 etc to determine if one .csv file is missing and print an error that this file is missing? I think that if I knew how many files I got I would create an array and check one by one the files.. But in case I have a dynamic directory and the number of files is not the same all the time , is this possible?
The script collects all the files in directory and sub-directories and list them in ascending format, I want them to get in transpose format. like for example: Root folder has many sub directories and in them a sub directory XYZ has 5 excel files, it will get the sub directory name in Col A and transpose all .xls files.
Col A | Col B________|Col C_________ |Col D___________|Col E________|
XYZ__|C:/root/test.xls|C:/root/Sales.xls |C:/root/Report.xls |C:/root/sam.xls|

I have a script running on a worksheet that checks that a name of a workbook is open or not
What happens is, it doesn't recognize that the workbook is open even when it is. When there are 2 workbooks and i msgbox workbooks(2).name, it gives me an error.
Private Sub Worksheet_Activate()
numofbooks = Workbooks.Count
j = 1
Bid1 = Sheets("Bid Summary").Range("B2").Value
For i = 1 To numofbooks
If Workbooks(i).Name = Bid1 Then
j = 0
Goto leave
End If
Next i '
leave:
If j = 0 Then
Sheets("Main").Range("L9").Value = "Checked"
Else
Sheets("Main").Range("L9").Value = "Check Failed"
End If
End Sub
I am trying to figure out how to count all open workbooks, then count all worksheets within the workbooks and come up with the total amount of worksheets in a message box. I know that it sounds very simple and probably is, but I really can't figure it out.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need to develop a VBA that counts all worksheets named sheet1 within all open workbooks in addition to many other useless tasks. I have spent many hours trying to figure out how to do that. My guess is to use some sort of with statement, but my efforts have been unsuccessful.
Sub CountWKS()
Dim wb As Workbook
Dim msg As String
Dim myTotal As Long
For Each wb In Workbooks
msg = msg & vbLf & wb.Name & vbTab & wb.Sheets.Count
myTotal = myTotal + wb.Sheets.Count
Next
MsgBox "The number of worksheets in each workbook is " & msg & vbLf & Workbooks.Count & " open workbooks and " & myTotal & " total sheets"
End Sub
I am trying to prompt the user for the directory to be saved in and file name to be saved as; then save the workbook in the input directory with the inputted file name.

Some but not all of the cells in col D begin with a prefix of "Category:" without the quotes, followed by a word or words following the word "Category:" See examples below. All of the terms prefixed with "Category:" in col D are in alphabetical order. I need to count the number of identical cells in col D with the "Category:" prefix.
Examples of the contents of cells in col D with the "Category:" prefix are as follows:
Category: Adversity
Category: Answers
Category: Assurance
Category: Blessings
Category: Build
Category: Change
Category: Children
Category: Choices
Cells above and below cells with a prefix of "Category:" in col D are not adjacent.Cells above and below cells with a prefix of "Category:" in col D are separated by 3 to an undermined number of rows.
I need to count the number of equal cells in col D and insert the count in col A at the last equal term. For example, col A above would have 93, 1, 1, 5, 10, 8, 3, and 12 inserted into col A.
going down are stores a, b, c, d.... what i'm filing in across is the square feet of each store and what quartr or year each store came into place. so there will either be a 0 or a number Now, I want to be able to count the number of nhew stores each quarter. how do i create a formula that just recognizes it the first time there is a number and not a zero... because i will put the square feet in subsequent quarters after it opens so i can see yearly how many square feet the store had. then also, how can create a button on the page that will say quarterly numbers and a button that is annual. so that i can hide the quarterly columns and just see an annual spreadsheet... and for the quarterly button so i can hide the annuals and just see the quarters....

I do multiple audits using excel, and would like to start a database as I put more audits into one folder. So it updates the values as I insert more audits into the folder.
My audit is a workbook which has multiple worksheets. But for each audit, it is the same worksheet with the same cell. The audit consists of yes and no questions, where you put in a x for either one. I would like to start a database, so for each question on my audit, I would have a percentage of yes or no for all my audits. For instance, question 1 , 7 out of my 10 audits, I had yes for that question.
How do I write a macro, so it counts the x's for multiple workbooks, and updates automatically for each question as I add more audits into that folder.

I have data in a column (G) consisting of zero and ones. I would like to count the number of clusters of the number 1 in the data. For example in the data below there are 8 ones. But instead, I need to calculate how many groups of 1s occur. So in the case below the group of 1s = 3.
In terms of what defines a group. Whenever there is a zero either before or after the occurance of a 1 constitues a group, i.e the groups are broken out by zeros.

I want to count the number of times any given number appears either as a consecutive group or singularly.
To give you a context I monitor windturbines and for any given fault code I wish to count the number of events it occurs in a month. Now it could be for 1 hour then clear the next then back for 17 then claer again. That would be 2 events!
NB the data is in seperate coulumns per turbine.
Create some sort of formula combination or macro that will: Recognise a cell with a value of 1, 2 or 3 in. If 3 is in the cell, the cell to its left will be counted and added to a total. If the cell that has 3 in changes the value is removed from the total. Ive tried lots of methods but i cant figure this one out!
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a master workbook that needs to be updated with information from approximately 900 other workbooks. The master workbook is layed-out with the name of each of the 900 workbooks (minus the .xls extension) located in column A. The number needed from these 900+ workbooks is consistently located in cell J20.
Is there an easy way to open each of these 900 workbooks, copy the number from cell J20 and paste the number in the correct location in the master workbook?
I would like to count the number of occurence of a user given number in a range through VBA code. Have attached a sample with this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two workbooks, (Invoice.xls) and (Inventory.xls) both using sheet1. When I fill out an invoice, with lets say 10 items on sheet1 column B, I need a macro to find those items in workbook "Inventory" sheet1 column A. When the item is found, I need the qty I entered on the invoice workbook "Invoice" sheet1 column C (same row as the item number) to be subtracted from the current total for that item in workbook "Inventory" sheet1 column C. I would like to run the code from the workbook "Invoice" before I do a "Save As".
I have found other Vb code on this site that seems very close to what I need, but I just don't know enough to make the changes necessary.
I have several hundred workbooks which are linked to a master workbook from where the workbooks draw their information. Now I would like to break all the links in all of the several hundred workbooks to this master workbook and retain the information. Is this possible without having to open each workbook individually and break the links via the 'edit links' option?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have some form used for "deret fauli test" it's like have 42 row cell and 37 column cell. What I need is count how much row between number 1to2, 2to3, 3to4, ... 19to20.
Here some example:
__|A|B |C |D
1_| 1| | 3 |
2_| | 2| |
3_| | | |
.
.
.
42| | | |4
each column have 42 row.
That mean from number 1 to number 2 have 42 + 2 = 44 row (this value put in A 45)
number 2 to number 3 have 40(because 2 row have add to number 1) + 1 = 41 row (this value put in A 46)
number 3 to number 4 have 41 + 42 = 83 row. (and this one put in A 47)
Anyother way to find how much row each number?
When you click on an entire column and drag your mouse to the right/left, you get a little box that tells you the number of columns highlighted, actual the same with rows. This little box has stopped coming up on my Managers laptop. I have looked in the View tab and the options area but nothing jumped out at me as the fix...

-I need to write a macro that start with the first number in sheet1 and go to sheet2 and count how many time that number appear. If the number of count more than 1 then highlight it in sheet 1, or copy it into a new sheet.
-Go back to sheet1 and start with the next number in the column until finish.

I want to add a colum with inputs of MHC07, MHC06, MHC35 and so on. These numbers will appers several times in the colum but I only want it counted once.
What I am trying to do is take the dates in Column B and count each date as a month, and put those totals into the January through December boxes. I've put in the amounts that should be shown with the data I provided.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there an equation to count numbers greater than zero without adding an additional column?
I had a COUNTIF equation but realized that the criteria that I used to use required an additional column. The additional column I used to have would be something along the lines of =IF(A1>0, "x", "") and then count the X's. I was just wondering if there was another equation that could reduce that step.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 1 to 30 spread sheet plus a Sheet with TOTAL , each represents one day ,
on each sheet I have one column and 6 lines where I will please random numbers from 1 - 50 but six number on each sheet
The question is on the total sheet I would like to have automatically the number repeats the most on those 31 sheets .
If I have the numbers 1-50 repeating in columns, 1-50, 1-50 etc is there a way to determine that number "1" falls 1st, 51st etc in the sequence without doing a manual count? Or that the number 2 falls 2nd, 52nd etc?
